Hate as you will on service charges, this place was straight up honest of a no tipping policy and staff is fairly compensated with the auto fee built in. I recently dined at Bombo, during an event at the convention center. The special menu had wonderful options at fair prices, and the food was delicious! However, the service was the worst I have received in years. Our waiter was condescendingly fake in his greeting, and continued to be a snooty little piece of work througout our visit. He avoided coming back to our table on several occasions, left us without water after taking our carafe to fill, and did not return to take our drink order for a frustratingly long time. The restaurant was not full, and he was tending to other tables near us, while walking away after we made eye contact and tried to call him over. It was a waste of over an hour of our time, all in all. The restaurant also puts a surprise undeclared 22% service charge on the bill for dining in, which is outright offensive for the services provided. There was no mention of an in house service charge on the menu, and it was undisclosed until the bill showed up. While they earned two stars for the delicious food, if you are seated in J.J.'s service area, I recommend that you leave instead of ordering. It's a shame that a seemingly nice place supports this subpar treatment of its patrons, and dishonest billing practices. It really brings into question the taste level of the whole operation. read more

Great location directly across the street from the Paramount Theater. The host who seated us was wearing sweatpants and a plain tee shirt. I felt overdressed in business casual. The pizza is served whole and you must cut your own slices with provided scissors. The food is tasty and prepared well. A mandatory 22% service fee is added to your entire order prior to tax being calculated and added. The chef did a great job! Everything else was sub par and overpriced. I do not recommend. read more

Service was amazing and both our host and waitress were all smiles. I had the halibut and my wife chose the roasted chicken. The halibut was cooked expertly with a nice sear, but I would've preferred a more aggressively flavored sauce to pair it with. The morels it was served with were absolutely perfect. The roast chicken I had a bite of. The caponata it was served with was so flavorful and scrumptious. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the seasoning on point, and I have to say -- it was probably the juiciest oven roasted chicken I've ever had. Would recommend that dish. read more

Then I discovered I missed the fine print and was charged a 22% SERVICE CHARGE, regardless of the quality of the service. Update on review - While my prior experiences at Bombo have not been great, their manager, Duran made the effort to contact me and ask me if they could make it up to me. This goes a long way with me - they easily could have ignored my review. I'm just one person, I'm not some kind of influencer, there's really very little reason that this restaurant should really care about one review in a slew of many. But they did, and they did not disappoint. The food and wine was all amazing, I wish I'd taken pictures! It was a lovely experience overall, and I appreciate that the restaurant took the time to reach out to me and cared to correct it. I will be visiting again :) read more

Truly disappointed with the bartender service. We were in Seattle on business staying at the Camlin across the street. It was a Wednesday happy hour and we sat at the lower level bar. It felt as if the bartender absolutely did not want to be there. She was slow, unfriendly, and unattetive. Except when she was on her phone texting. We started with the fresh oysters and they were amazing! As was the guy behind the bar serving them. Without him we would likely not stayed. We couldn't get the bartenders attention and he helped with our food and drink orders. We also tried the pizza, and again helped by the oyster guy to get our order in. It was also very good, but came out uncut and served with scissors to cut it with. Not cool! Not fun! At the very least ask us if we want our. pizza to come out cut! The answer is YES! There was a special on vodka martinis we enjoyed, and overall the bill was pricey but seemed fair for a nice downtown location. It really is a nice spot. Lastly the 22% bs automatic gratuity charged to the bill. The service was not equal to that charge, and is ultimately the reason not to recommend this place, or return. Gratuity, tipping should be left to the patrons not the management. read more

The pizza we got was pretty good. We also got the crab and bread appetizer. It's inside of the new convention center and was really clean and airy. The only problem we had was with the wait staff. The manager and server were stuck up. I had told my server I wanted him to take something (when he had the chance to) and he had said he "only had two hands". No duh Sherlock. Of course you only have two hands. I just wanted to let you know I wanted the item to be picked up the next time you came around. No need for an attitude. My party also made a big reservation and we had asked to sit together but they sat us in different tables initially. We had to ask them to move some tables so we can all sit together and they gave us a hard time about it. The staff definitely need some training in hospitality. Shame. read more

We stopped at Bombo after a matinee theater at the Paramount. The server was very sweet. We ordered two margaritas, and order of roasted beets which were tasteless and a very forgetable margarita pizza. Cost: $79!!!!! The server pointed out the 20 or 23% service charge which she explained was not a gratuity, just a service charge. What???!!!! Absolutely ridiculous! We had a party of 10 for lunch and had a great experience here. Food was wonderful and the service exceptional. The focaccia was pretty amazing and the kale caesar was perfect. We ordered four pizzas and everyone enjoyed the variety. They take reservations for show nights, which is great, since many restaurants no longer do. Give it a try!! read more

I have never given a bad review on yelp but I am so over Ethan Stowe restaurants. Overpriced food of Olive Garden quality and 2x's the cost. Bombo is really bad. We chose it in large part because of its proximity to the theater we were going to and because they looked like they had a decent happy hour. We were not given a happy hour menu and when I asked if it was happy hour I was told "technically yes but we don't have it when there is a show at the Paramount". WTF? It's accross the street from the Paramount that has shows 5 nights a week. How can you say you have happy hour every day on your website but actually don't 5 nights a week? It's the principle of the thing that bugs me. That and having subpar food here and at least two other of his restaurants. This is not about the people who work there (they were pleasant) but it's about a dishonest company with subpar, overpriced food. Yuck! read more

Over the past two months, I've been frequenting Bombo once a week. The pizzas and and bar on the lower level is what keeps me coming back. Pizzas are the perfect size (not too big or small) and the sauce reminds me of the pizzas I used to devour when I was living outside of Naples. As for the bar, it's a great open space, lounge style. They have floor to ceiling glass walls, cool big booths and theres a nice long bar. The service is great too and the bartenders make great cocktails. Also, they have a very decent bourbon selection. They even have Blanton's Gold. Lastly, Bombo serves a great rib eye. It's pricy, but damn tasty. read more

Went here with party of six. Service was nonexistent. Food was below average and came out randomly over a span of 30 minutes. Halibut was raw in the middle which got us free desserts. The whole vibe was "we really don't care about you or your experience." Overall, a pretty shitty restaurant. read more

Rudest person ever at hostess stand! Don't bother. We were waiting for lines to die down for a Paramount show and stopped into the bar at Bombo. All the lounge seating but two spots were taken. A very rude woman came up and told us they were at full capacity. I asked, even with all the empty seating in the lounge and she said in a very condescending tone, yes ma'am. Won't be going back. I am sitting at the restaurant and so dissatisfied I am taking the time to write a review. the food was good. The service was terrible! The sugar on top is that a 50.00 gratuity was built into our bill. The service did not justify this. Our meals came out terribly spaced to the point we had to ask if some of it had been forgotten. We were going to a show at ACT Theater and got a reservation for 6 PM. Spectacular setting inside the new convention center. The service was a little slow and we were hungry. Two appetizers: Brussels sprouts were great with lots of flavors, maybe a little heavy on the balsamic. Burrata with butternut squash purée was also good but we didn't finish it. Table of 4 had two pizzas. They were disappointing only because we've had Pizza at Ethan Stole restaurants before and they had been amazing. The crust on these pizzas were maybe a different style than I was expecting but painted with olive oil and it wasn't great for what you are paying. Drinks were great. Service wasn't super sharp. It was all just enough to pass for a high end dining experience, but just. It should have been better. I'd eat here again, but I'd be going in with lower expectations. read more

Following a not-so-positive experience at Bombo's, I was contacted by Deron with, not only a sincere apology, but an offer to make it right. He presented a friend and I an amazing dining experience. Let's get the good out of the way first. We were running late due to traffic so we called the restaurant and the host was very accommodating in moving our reservation. From there it went downhill very quickly. We were seated and put our order in. The restaurant was at most 20% full with what looked like a more than adequate amount of staff present. Service was very slow and disjointed. Drinks came out late and just don't get the Patio Season drink. Just don't. I can't describe the flavor and if that's what they are going for but either way it sounds kinda interesting but it's not. We ordered the beet salad which we usually like to order at restaurants. This was the saltiest thing we've ever consumed at a restaurant UNTIL our pasta dish arrived which quickly overtook the the salad as the saltiest thing we've ever eaten at a restaurant. The pappardelle with Dungeness crab was so darn salty it was like drinking a Big Gulp of the Puget Sound. I can almost feel the hypertension coming on. We wanted to like this new Ethan Stowell restaurant but it was such an unpleasant experience almost from the jump. read more

Sat down, ordered wine, after 20 minutes the waiter came back and said our order was "lost" re-ordered, ordered food as we had a show at the Paramount theater in 1 1/2 hours. received wine after another 15 minutes. We asked about put food 45 minutes after ordering they said "it was coming soon". Another half an hour we told the waiter we had to leave as our show was in 15 minutes..a "manager" came over and said "sorry" but basic did care..left right after. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT.. Went to Bombo without a reservation before a show with ample time to dine and still made it in time for a show at the paramount! It's great that it only takes 1min to get across the street. The space is gorgeous. The Salmon dish was to die for and the wine and cocktail list were so wonderful. My group left very very happy. It's wonderful to see businesses trying to revive this part of Seattle and do something positive in such a negative world. read more

The ambiance is a charming modern atmosphere and our server Mike was excellent and attentive. The food however lacked appeal. The very thin crust pizza was not fully cooked and while it should have been crispy it was soggy and flimsy, with little seasoning and flavor. The gnocchi was good and cooked well however the sauce poured over the entire dish was so salty it couldn't be eaten. The waygu appetizer would have been delicious but it also was waaay too salty. I believe the chefs need a little schooling. read more
