Bombo's downstairs lounge was the perfect spot to duck into after a show at the Paramount. It has a swanky vibe but it was nearly empty for a Friday night. Late night Happy Hour was a pleasant surprise. It was a menu that offered a handful of cocktails, beer and wine, and everything from snacks to full pizzas. While the Manhattan wasn't on the HH menu, it was as delicious as the OF that was. These are basic drinks, but they were smooth and somehow better than average for what they were. The pizza had a nice crispy crust around the outside and tasted great. I forget the name of it, but it had pepperoni, basil and hot honey. The middle of the pizza was a bit soggy and it was pretty greasy, but surprisingly tasty. The bartender was really charming and really helpful. He really stressed that the tip was included in the price so that we didn't accidentally tip twice. I would definitely come here again but it would be more fun if it was a bit busier. read more

It was quite a yummy dinner, made even better by the free pizza generously gifted to us from our waiter. *** Dungeness Crab Bruschetta ($24) - if you know me, you know I love my breads. This dish was a unique take on the regular bruschetta appetizer, with the fresh crab and arugula on top. Italian Sub Salad ($18) - perfectly balanced salad that paired well with the pizza N'Duja Pizza ($20) - this was definitely a unique pizza that I wouldn't normally get, but it was worth the try. the n'duja sausage was super flavorful while the sweet peppers added a depth that enhanced the smoky flavors of the mozzarella and sausage. it was a bit salty for me though. read more

We came here for happy hour excited that something has opened in the new Convention Center area and were very impressed! It's a really cool, modern space - I like how you can see the pizza oven and the kitchen. The happy hour menu was really reasonable, we split two pizzas and a salad and had a good amount left over. Both pizzas were amazing - thin crust that is foldable and not too crunchy, really felt authentic. My favorite part was that they gave a little bottle of hot honey on the side to use with the pizza. Awful. Service was poor. Staff were rushed and careless. Made reservations for 5:45pm. With the entire place empty we were seated in front of the drafty main entry door. Our server at first appeared overwhelmed but over time I think it was more an issue of poor training or incompetence. Our entire food order arrived before our drinks. Food was bland but portion sizes were appropriate. Atmosphere was nice, calm and even with clamor of a busy restaurant conversation was at a comfortable level. I saw at least one manager on the floor taking order after several other tables had to ask for service. Looove bombo and have been coming here after my work shifts for a while! It's so nice finding a place that serves great food after 10, and the service is always so chill as well. Love the hostess with the long dark hair and cute makeup, and the bartenders are always such homies. The music they play down at the bar is always great, and it's perfect for a chill solo night or when I bring friends. You'd be surprised what these guys put up with on the daily! While staying at Camlin we were referred to Bombo as a potential place nearby to have dinner. It was late when we set out and the place we were heading to was very busy so we went here instead. It's a beautiful restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The wait staff is friendly / chatty and helpful. The food was good, but expensive for some dishes. We liked the meatballs better than the lasagna. The tiramisu was unique, with espresso and chocolate pearls, but delicious. read more

We dined at Bombo last night. Bombo is one of the many restaurants that attaches a service fee (22%) to the bill and no tipping is expected. It is possible to add a tip to the bill if you wish. Our waiter was pleasant but not friendly, and seemed somewhat disinterested, kind of going through the motions. Our party wondered whether that had anything to do with the service charge. The reason my review is only 2 stars, though, is that the food took a long time and both our pizzas were cold, and I do mean cold! Also, the food was served in this order: pizza, followed by a salad 10 minutes later, then the second salad and finally the 2nd pizza. The salads were great (Caesar and Cobb). I came in as a party of 1, at 5ish after a conference. The place was obviously open but not busy. I was ignored then once they noticed me. I said I was a party of one. She said great it was happy hour and then discussed what to do with me to a coworker. Finally they asked if I would sit outside. I said sure. First, I was outside with one other person who was holding a table for six. Finally a waiter came over I ordered wine and the pizza he recommended while pointing at the dish on the menu. I got the wine but nothing else. They came to deliver food to a table that arrived 15 minutes after me. When they said no, she brought it to me and I said that's not what I ordered but I would take it if that would make it easier (it was a different pizza). She said I'll be back but I never saw her again. After the area was filled and everyone had their food but me. I finally got my waiters attention. He asked if I needed anything. I explained I never got my food. He said let me check. Came back and said the order got lost, did I still want it? I said please. Finally got food 15 minutes later. And when I was done I had to get his attention again to get a box and the check. Can't help but feel that the automatic 20% tip made them care less about service. Very sad! Won't be back! read more

We tried out this new eatery just a few days after their soft opening. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered the mushroom pizza with the hot honey sauce and the polenta fritters. Food was very yummy. They had a great Happy Hour as well. Fantastic location inside the beautiful Summit Building of the Convention Center across from the Paramount theater. I only have two real complaints about this wonderful place. First, the music SUUUUUCKED! It was too capital hill club-ish, and it took away from the atmosphere of the place. Two was the fact that the waiter brought our main course within two bites of our appetizers. It not only crowds the table but makes you feel rushed. OTHER than that, the place is absolutely beautiful. They make great use of the space, and that's only amplified by the fact that the floor to ceiling windows can be opened. The decor is well thought put and compliments the hardwood floors. The lighting was very nice, and the location is perfect for a night out in downtown Seattle. Crazy I didn't even know that the convention center added a new beautiful building and to have a restaurant attached is a brilliant idea. I believe the hostess told us that the whole place seated 280 people. Good spot if you're going to a show at the paramount theater. I wouldn't say this was the best food but the convenience was great since we were going to a show. The service was slow bringing out the food. They forgot a glass of wine as well but brought it out right when we mentioned it. The server was extremely nice. Let's talk about the food. It was just kind of blah and not loads of flavor which was disappointing. The pasta noddles were a bit under cooked and not a lot of crab within the dish. The Wagyu Beef Carpaccio was the best thing we got. The salad had a little too much dressing on it. The pizza was just average and again not much flavor. The drinks were good. When you spend an average of $25 per plate I expect happiness in my mouth! It's not bad but not fav and I would go back for the convenience of being so close to the theatre. The lettuce was shiny with dressing! All I could taste was the salty dressing. I didn't finish it. I've had better salads for less price. The Caesar was also $18? For lettuce and dressing? Maybe the pizza is better? For almost $40 I was sorely disappointed. And they added a surcharge to offset costs? WTF just put it in the prices on the menu. Nice new space and is a much needed addition to this neighborhood. I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here but it's a great spot if you're in the neighborhood seeing a show at the paramount or something. That's what we were doing and it's perfect for that. The pizza is really delicious and well made and there's some innovative toppings and appetizers. Definitely not a traditional pizzeria, it's modern but Neapolitan inspired - it's "Neopolitan". Warning to Italians, they put cheese with fish! Service was very friendly and efficient and had perfect hair (you know who you are). We finished without having to worry about missing the show. I saw in a different review that kids couldn't get in. Can't believe I just found this gem of a restaurant right in front of the Paramount! Deron and his team were so wonderful, service was perfection. the food so delicious, and the ambiance very chic and cool. The first person said it would be 30-40 minutes because they were at capacity and I told him I would still wait (I'm not from here, so I had no ideas on where else to go) and I got a text at 6:24 being added to the waitlist. I had to come down around 7:30 when I still hadn't heard anything. I didn't get the gentleman's name who sat me but I appreciate his apology and efforts to seat me immediately. Super convenient location right across from the Paramount. I went on a Sunday around 11:30am and there were a handful of other customers and no wait. The space is pretty large and you don't feel cramped if people are sitting at the tables on either side of you. Kind of a trendy atmosphere. Prices are pretty Seattle- on the expensive side. We each got a pizza which are more on the personal sized side of things, but we did take 2-3 slices home each. I also got the Shrub to drink. While yummy, the favor did not really match the description of the drink. It was pretty vinegary and lasted like there was some kombucha in there. If you like that taste (I do) it was good- If not don't try it. My friend said it tasted like barbecue sauce or ketchup lol. Our waitress was very friendly and checked in on us several times. We stayed in a place just across street of Bambo, so we decided to try it even saw the 3 star reviews. We were very disappointed by both the food and service. First, I chose a cocktail without any syrup or sugar described in the content, but it came out very sweet. We ordered a salad, a pizza and a pasta, all very plain in flavor, but I would give a 3 star. It is the service we received that made us very disappointed. In the middle of our meal, our waitress decided to open the big front door to take in all the outdoor tables and chairs. It is 35F outside, the cold wind came in and made our food cold and also made us shiver. We decided to pack our food and pay the bill and leave, but our waitress was nowhere to find, so we found boxed on the counter and packed the leftover ourselves. Other employees had to call the waitress in for us to pay the bill. The restaurant charges 22% of service for a group of 3 of us even with very bad service. We had been to many restaurants in Seattle with great service and food, they didn't demand a 22% service, what a disappointment! read more

Very slow, to the point I was not going to give a tip, or very little. But when the check finally arrived, lo and behold, a $24.20 automatic "In Dining Service Charge". Overall opinion...overpriced, lacks value for a local patron. If you're at a convention there, you're stuck with it. Had dinner here before seeing a show across the street. Was able to get seated quickly, though we did go through the wrong door and were told to go to the main entrance to see the host. So, pro tip: enter closer to 9th Ave and not through the Convention Center. All of the food came out quickly (almost suspiciously quickly) and was decent. We got the focaccia--which came with garlic feta which was great--, a pasta and chicken entree. Service was friendly and attentive, and food was good. We ordered after dinner coffee and tea which left much to be desired, but did the job in terms of actually caffeinating us. Honestly, I probably won't be back. Fairly mid Ethan Stowell Italian food at overpriced Ethan Stowell standards, and they're clearly going through some growing pains as a new restaurant. Our appetizer was served well after our mains, which we waited over 40 minutes for - and that was after they asked us if we were catching a show across the street (which we were). It felt like we were being ignored the whole time we were there. There's also a sneaky 4% service charge added at the end, which feels especially shady for a brand new restaurant that didn't baseline their prices pre-inflation. I'm disappointed because we really wanted this to be a pre-Paramount option, but I doubt we'll be back. read more

When we finally did order drinks, they took the same amount of time as the food did to come out, and were long finished. But here's the real kicker: we were not informed that there was a TWENTY TWO PERCENT service charge added to our bill, which was just small plates and a single drink a person. Then were prompted on screen to add another tip from a box (we picked 5% because we didn't want to stiff them and it was the highest shown), which means we ended up paying a twenty seven percent tip on slow, pushy service and appetizers. Last Thursday, I visited Bombo Italian Kitchen for snacks and happy hour after a networking event. Despite arriving at a time when the kitchen wasn't serving food, the manager Duran went above and beyond to accommodate us because we were super hungry. His excellent customer service truly made our experience exceptional. We are incredibly grateful for Duran's effort to ensure we had a pleasant and satisfying visit. I was completely underwhelmed by my meal and service this afternoon unfortunately. The setting is nice and convenient to it's location across from the Paramount theater and we' were seated right away. However things started to go slowly sideways after that. First off , one plate on our table had dried food on it so my wife took one off of the table next to us and it also was not clean. Details matter. Our waiter was prompt and friendly but at the end of the meal he just disappeared and I had to get up and randomly grab another waiter to get our check. For our meals, we had two pasta dishes, the Tagliarini and the Pappardelle. The house made pasta was nice but I found both dishes somewhat bland. I also thought it was unusual there was no bread served before or during the meal. The kitchen staff is visible from the dining area and seemed busy and efficient. I think the real problem is there was not enough staff on the floor. As someone who worked in the industry for eight years it should be expected to let your tables know if you are leaving the floor and letting them know who is replacing you. I felt we were abandoned at the end of our meal. The food by itself is a three star but the lack of consistent service deserves a two at best. I thought it was unusual that at the bottom of the menu, there is a clause in small print that states 4% will be added to offset food costs. Shouldn't you just adjust the prices for each item on the menu?!! Not trying to be overly harsh but this restaurant tries to project itself as a high end establishment but definitely fell short after our matinée at the Paramount. Try harder. read more

Food and ambiance are wonderful, but the compulsory 22% gratuity results in appallingly bad service. I have dined at Bombo five times over the last couple of months and although the meals have been good, I have been shocked at how bad the service is. Servers are so inattentive that we have had to ask other servers (not our own) to get our server, after being abandoned for 30 minutes or more. We have ordered drink refills that we have never ultimately received, despite multiple requests. And we've endured other problems that would be highly unlikely at a restaurant where the amplitude of tips are up to the diner. read more
