    Pinxtos
    Courtney K.

This review is strictly for the San Sebastián night. We had a reservation, and the place was packed. There were two different buffet areas which the kitchen kept well stocked. The advertising for this gave me the impression that there were going to be "deals" on wine with the $60 pinxtos. Not so. While it was all you can eat, and the food was delicious, I do not think it was a fair price. The cuts of beef were low quality and the pork was incredibly chewy. No desserts either. Finally, they appeared to be understaffed, as the wait for our drink order and then to receive the drinks was exceedingly long (and we are very patient and forgiving people). We only had one round. I might go back and try the regular menu.

Ash is amazing behind the bar! Her conversation was friendly and recommendations were all spot on and much appreciated.

We went for their San Sebastián pinxtos night! The bar setup with the pinxtos was great, it really did remind me of being in the basque region. The food was good, but the timing a bit off with replenishing. I know it was their first one so I'm sure they'll fine tune it. They were friendly brining them out and looked like they were working hard! Some more delicious than others which is just subjective. I'm looking forward to attending another!! And it was nice to have the Spanish wines from that region too, the whites oddly tasted very similar to each other though.

My very first adult happy meal.

Tre the bartender at the bar was AHHHHH MAZ ING!!!!!!!! The food was good and you can't beat the happy hour prices. Those fries, that lamb (babaaaaayyyyy), and the wings were meh. I like my wings fried a little harder, but they told me they were crispy another, for me I like them a little bit more crispy. Listen. This is the spot you and your girls are looking for after work, on the weekend, brunch whenever they are open to catch up. Trust me you'll love it.

I stopped by Plates for happy hour with my wife and tried their Adult Happy Meal, and for $20 it was definitely worth it. It's solid, straightforward American fare and a great option if you want something casual but satisfying. Food: The Adult Happy Meal came out fresh and flavorful, with a nice variety for the price. Everything was cooked well and hit the spot for a happy hour bite. It's classic American comfort food done right. nothing over the top, just good food that you can enjoy with a drink and not feel like you overpaid. Service: Our waitress was great and really took care of us. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were good the whole time. She even hooked us up, which made the experience even better and showed some real hospitality. Ambiance: Plates has a relaxed, laid-back vibe that works perfectly for happy hour. It's a good spot to unwind, grab a drink, and enjoy some food without feeling rushed or crowded. Overall: For $20, the Adult Happy Meal is a solid deal and a fun happy hour option. Good food, great service, and a chill atmosphere made this a win. I'd definitely go back just for that again.

After learning about the Adult Happy Meal, I immediately made plans to visit Plates again. I've been here a few times, and this restaurant never disappoints. The Adult Happy Meal is available during happy hour from 4 pm to 6 pm, and you have to sit at the bar to order it. The meal includes four wings, fries, two lamb sliders, and a glass of champagne for just $20. We even got to keep the glasses. The bartender was really nice. We chatted for a bit, and she made me a delicious tequila mule while I waited for happy hour to start. If you haven't been to Plates yet, this is your sign to go.

We ordered one of everything on the menu with maybe two exceptions and the only thing we wouldn't order again were the scallops (too salty) and the chicken. Everything else was beyond phenomenal. The proteins were all super tender and everything had so much flavor.

    Great happy hour menu!

Plates Restaurant & Bar has an excellent happy hour with great appetizer options and specialty cocktails that are definitely worth checking out. The food is delicious across the board -- everything we tried was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. I especially loved the lounge seating area -- it was perfect for a Friday evening out with friends. The atmosphere is relaxed yet stylish, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the night. I've been here several times at the bar, for happy hour and dinner. I went for brunch one Sunday and was not excited about it and the offerings. But overall I enjoyed my experience there. Oh and The staff was friendly and attentive, and the hostess was amazing -- super welcoming and accommodating, which always sets the tone for a great experience.

Went for my birthday on a Sunday night. The restaurant was fairly empty, but our meal still took nearly three hours. The pacing of the courses was slow. We were there well after closing. I skipped dessert because everything took too long. The food was okay. Nothing to rave about. The bathroom was a bit dirty. The best thing was being able to pay on the Inkind app. I got some credits back to use at a different restaurant.

Honestly, I've lost count of how many times I've been to Plates...it's one of my personal favorites in the city for both happy hour (5pm to 7pm Monday to Thursday, 4pm to 7pm Friday to Sunday) and dinner! Every dish is packed with flavor. Some of my go-to's: the okra, the Barca 75, the vermut & soda, the garlic shrimp, the tuna dip, the mushrooms, and the chicken cracklings... all so good. You can really taste the beautiful blend of cultures in the menu, so unique!! The staff here is always warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere is just as great as the food. Plates will always be a recommendation from me!! I love it here:)

We decided to check this out knowing it's in the neighborhood. Service was okay...But the food didn't do it for me. We had a group of 7. Ordered all the happy hour food and decided to share a few mains and other items. I most likely will never return. Love the concept and the plethora or different style plates but so underwhelming.

A great spot to meet up with friends for beverages and shareable plates. Tapas style restaurant - gamut of dishes from small, cold/hot, and large entrees. That is complemented by a lengthy diverse list of beverages. We tried a mix of dishes. Our favorite was the patatas bravas that were perfectly executed.

Went here with a large party earlier this week on Tuesday and everything was delicious! My friends got many different entrées and appetizers. My partner and I shared the mushroom toast with goat cheese and an egg on top, probably my favorite thing I ate. My partner had the fried chicken, it looked delicious, but I didn't taste it, so I'm not sure how it taste. I had the apple and dive salad as I wanted something lighter, and it was pretty tasty, just sort of a small portion. Our friends got some bread with the sweet potato baked goat cheese, which was pretty good. We didn't try dessert, but the Basque cheesecake looked pretty good. Service was smooth and efficient! Can't wait to come back.

We were seated in the upstairs area and tried some of their drinks. We got the Brandy Crusta which is their most popular drink and the Pouvez-Vous Poulet which is a seasonal cocktail. The Brandy Crusta has the cup dipped in sugar with a fairly strong cocktail within. Definitely get this when you are here as that is one of the best Brandy Crustas and is historical. The Pouvez-Vous Poulet is a duck fat washed rum cocktail and is also very delicious. You cannot really go wrong with any cocktail, but definitely order the Brandy Crusta for the true experience here. Though, honestly, while the cocktails are good, it was not as memorable as the other Top 50 Best Bars in the World that I have been to, but I won't dock a star off because of this, since the cocktails and overall experience otherwise were fantastic. Service is good but can be a bit slow, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for a more quiet ambience compared to downstairs.

While the Sazerac wasn't invented here, this is arguably its most iconic home, a place where New Orleans cocktail history comes to life. I would use this version as your gold standard when dining out in New Orleans and looking for a perfect Sazerac. We enjoyed watching bartender Rachel craft each drink. Rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar are stirred in a small pitcher with ice. The serving glass is chilled, then emptied, and finished with an absinthe rinse along the rim. The cocktail is strained into the glass and topped with a lemon peel. The atmosphere makes the experience even better. The murals, the history, and the energy of the room give it a sense of occasion that you do not get at most bars. We had such a great time sitting at the bar that my wife and I each finished two and a half Sazeracs, which tells you everything you need to know.

Atmosphere/Appearance: It's EXTREMELY BUSY and very loud in here. Lol. As mentioned above, the bar is located inside the hotel so once you walk in through the front door you enter the lobby then head to the right. It's a first-come, first-serve situation (at least it was for us at the time). So of course, the carousel bar is the highlight. It's a slow rotating bar rail and it's adorable. Lol. Almost the entire bar is eyeing any available spots so you have to be quick, but be respectful. However, there are tables and such sprinkled throughout the bar where you can hangout at as you stalk the actual carousel. My wife and I sat in the window which made for some excellent people watching. Lol. Eventually after what felt like an hour or we did spot some spots on the carousel, my wife held them for me as I closed the check then finally got to sit... and SPIN! The bar completes a full revolution every 15 minutes so you definitely won't get dizzy. Service: We had no issues here whatsoever. The staff is just super busy all over the place, but they didn't miss a beat. Food: For my first drink I checked out their Oaxacan Midnight which was like a tequila play on the Old Fashioned. It was delicious, a bit lighter than an Old Fashioned, but certainly stood on it's own. For our first appetizer bar bite we tried the Blue Crab & Corn Beignet which didn't come out as I was expecting. Lol. I'm not mad, I just pictured the big, fluffy things from Cafe Du Monde, but maybe stuffed with goodies! These were more like fritter than I absolutely loved so much I ordered a 2nd plate. Lastly we tried the BBQ Shrimp which was grilled to perfection with a good snap, excellent flavor and good char along with a tangy, cream sauce on top. Value: It's pricey. Food and drinks were decent, but a SMIDGE overpriced, but... they know you're going to pay because you're on vacation, you're a tourist and you wanna be in this novelty bar. Lol. Regardless, I had a blast and you can say you did too whenever you check this place out! In conclusion, I've now been there, done that. Lol. I don't have to do it again, but if you're in the area, check this place out. It's a good time.

No frantic showboating, no syrupy cover ups, no sloppy pours even with the parade energy banging on the door. We ordered two and they were both dead on. Alchemist Elixir: pea flower gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon. It shows up pale violet with an orchid on the rim and yes it's pretty, but it's also disciplined. Corpse Reviver #2: local gin, Lillet Blanc, Grand Marnier, absinthe, fresh lemon. Cold, crisp, citrus first, then the herbal edge and just enough absinthe to remind you what city you're in.
