Yuzu Matcha Tea and Sea Salt Cheese Foam Matcha Latte
    Marie C.

My sister and I tried the Yuzu Matcha Tea, Sea Salt Cheese Foam Matcha Latte, and Crepe Cone. The line wasn't too long, and they had a tablet ordering system with the full menu available, which made the process pretty easy. I'm a big fan of both yuzu and matcha, and the Yuzu Matcha Tea at regular sweetness was perfectly balanced--the yuzu flavor was bright and refreshing without overpowering the matcha. The Sea Salt Cheese Foam Matcha Latte was good, but it wasn't something I'd necessarily go out of my way to order again. Our favorite item was definitely the Crepe Cone! The crepe was fresh and perfectly crispy, with delicious layers of strawberries, ice cream, cookie crumbles, whipped cream, and matcha crème brûlée. It was a fun dessert with a great mix of textures and flavors, and I would definitely order it again. The cafe was a little crowded, so indoor seating is limited. However, there's some space outside where people can hang out while waiting for their orders. Overall, this is a solid new matcha spot in Cupertino with a nice variety of drinks and desserts!

Good menu. I had the ice cream and it was good, nothing great. Maybe the crepe and the drinks are delicious. The only thing that's so annoying is when places like this has no restroom facility to offer. Today it was "out of service".

I came here with a friend during their grand opening. The "free" items they advertised on Instagram weren't actually free--you had to leave a Yelp review to receive one, which felt misleading. We also tried the sea salt cheese foam matcha latte during their buy-one-get-one-free promotion. Honestly, it seemed like they just split one drink into two and called it a promo. Both drinks were super watery and filled with ice, making them taste diluted. Overall, it wasn't a great experience, and I wouldn't recommend it. There are better places to get matcha in the area.

Came during a weekday to hopefully snag a crepe cone, but unfortunately they only have it on weekends from 12 PM until sold out. I had to come back and try it for myself, and it was definitely worth the wait. The matcha crêpe was soft and chewy with just the right amount of crispness around the edges, and the brûléed crème on top added a satisfying caramelized crunch. Inside, the matcha gelato was rich, creamy, and had a nice earthy flavor without being overly bitter or too sweet. Every bite had a great balance of textures, from the crispy sugar topping to the smooth gelato and tender crêpe. If you're a matcha fan, I'd recommend getting here early since these are only available on weekends and they do sell out. It was a unique dessert that's both visually appealing and delicious, and I'd definitely order it again.

Bonbon Matcha has a great selection of matcha drinks, soft serve, and desserts, so I was excited to give it a try. Maybe I ordered the wrong drink, but I found the matcha in the banana matcha latte to be a bit weak, and there was barely any banana flavor. It wasn't bad, just not as bold or flavorful as I was expecting. That said, I'd definitely come back. The menu has plenty of other matcha items, and the ice cream and desserts looked absolutely delicious. I'll be trying one of those next time.

Parking can be a bit tricky but once you enter the garage from behind, you'll find plenty of parking. Staffs were amazing, the menu selection is very nice and simple. Banana matcha: 4.5/5 Sea salt foam matcha: 4/5, it tasted more Milky than "matcha" Yuzu matcha: 5/5, very unique

I recently visited Bonbon Matcha, and it was such a great experience for anyone who loves authentic matcha. The café has a clean, cozy atmosphere that's perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet dessert break. I tried the Matcha Gelato, Strawberry Matcha, Matcha Tiramisu, Matcha Basque Cheesecake, and Matcha Affogato. Everything had a rich, well-balanced matcha flavor without being overly sweet, which I really appreciated. My favorites were the Matcha Gelato for its creamy texture and the Strawberry Matcha for its refreshing combination of fresh strawberries and matcha. You can tell they focus on quality ingredients, and every item felt thoughtfully prepared. If you're looking for a dedicated matcha spot in the Bay Area, I definitely recommend stopping by Bonbon Matcha. I'll definitely be back to try more from their menu!

Personally, I would only come to Bonbon Matcha for their desserts and gelato. Forget the drinks. They should just focus on selling their desserts and ice cream. A plus is that there's a variety of desserts and multiple levels of intensity for their ice cream. Stopped by during grand opening and wanted to check out the BOGO. Had a taste of their drink they were sampling. Not a fan so left and thought to come back another time to try their desserts. Officially tried Bonbon last Friday evening. Not too busy surprisingly. They had started their creme brulee crepe cone that day. Was sold out so make sure to go early if you'd want to try it since it's limited. We ordered on the self order kiosk. My friend ordered a banana cream matcha latte (do not recommended, barely any banana cream) and a matcha tiramisu. I ordered the matcha gelato float and matcha crepe roll cake. The roll cake was $22, which was kinda outrageous but after seeing the size and having a taste, price was somewhat justified since it also had matcha pudding inside of it. I would pay at most $18-$20 for it, esp since the matcha pudding in the roll cake wasn't exactly pudding, it had too much gelatin in it. My family and i enjoyed the roll cake. My friend enjoyed the tiramisu. All to say, the desserts here are worth coming back for. Except for the basque cheesecake, cuz who is that feeding?! That sliver aint worth the price! If you want to try the different levels of matcha in their ice cream, you will have to ask. Staff was nice about it. But if it gets busy, don't expect too much. The option is there though. The layout also kinda affects the sampling since the kiosks are right in front of it and they call ur number to scoop the ice cream in front of you, so it's a bit crowded around that area. There's not much seating. We waited outside. Their tvs will tell you if ur order is in progress or ready. Again, go for the desserts and ice cream, not the drinks!

I came during soft opening just for the basque cakes since I don't recall seeing these flavor combinations offered near me before lol. I brought home 2 slices to share with my family. Opted for the matcha strawberry basque and yuzu matcha basque. - Matcha strawberry basque: Our fav between the 2! You can taste the strawberry. Really enjoyed this one. Not too sweet I don't think~~ - Yuzu matcha basque: Subtle yuzu flavor... maybe too subtle for my expectations but still good. Also not too sweet, I don't think ~~ The prices were a bit steep for their size, but both cakes were quite nice! Moist and flavorful. We'll see if I'll be back!

Sometimes it's nice seeing another matcha spot opening up in the Bay Area. I went during their soft opening, so I'm sure things will improve over time. The shop was a bit small, but it was clean. I did feel the staff was a little disorganized. Their matcha was earthy, creamy, and smooth. Their desserts weren't overly sweet either. The Basque cheesecake was silky with a slight crème brûlée-like bitterness while the matcha flavor really stood out. The tiramisu was light, fluffy, and not too sweet either. Love the Mango Matcha as well! The desserts were steep for the price, but I'd come back to try their gelato. Perhaps I can see some improvement when I come back for a second try.

Did you know that matcha is historically from China? A Japanese Buddhist brought it over to Japan. And, here we are now... Going wild over some green powder. Most of the *new* matcha shops I've tried in the bay have been disappointing but my toxic trait is trying them. I don't recall ever having matcha sourced from China so Bonbon piqued my interest. Apparently, they're in the process of making their own matcha. Hours are wrong on yelp, they open at 11 am. In-person ordering only with online ordering to come (Chowbus). * Grand Opening Promo * (ends 6/21/26) BOGO Matcha Drinks: - Classic Matcha Latte - Sea Salt Cheese Foam - Banana Cream - Yuzu Free keychain or magnet for the first 200 customers each day. We choose the keychain. Staff outside was offering other freebies in exchange for review on Google or Yelp. M E N U Aside from matcha lattes (no hōjicha), they sell matcha ice cream (4 intensity levels) and matcha desserts (roll cakes, tiramisu, and cheesecakes). - Drink sweetness: Less sweet, regular, and extra sweet. - Oat milk: 75 cents - Extra matcha shot: $1.25 D R I N K S - Matcha is batched * Strawberry Matcha Latte ($7.75) + extra shot (+$1.25) - Not BOGO * Mango Matcha Latte ($7.75) + extra shot (+$1.25) - Not BOGO - Request less sweet I like that they don't skimp on the fresh fruit puree and the matcha is not grainy. Unfortunately, their matcha is not for me. It had an unpleasant medicinal bitterness that lingers. I hate wasting money but we tossed our drinks. D E S S E R T * Strawberry Matcha Basque Cheesecake (Slice-$12.50, 6" Cake-$68) I don't mind paying $$$ for a great basque cheesecake but this was very expensive for the size and taste...more expensive than Basuku and Tarts de Feybesse. Visually, the cheesecake's texture looked on point with a creamy molten center and caramelized top. The strawberry had a natural sweetness but not smooth (a bit curdled), while the matcha was earthy and bitter with a dry crumbly texture. Oven too hot? S E R V I C E Friendly and fast. Despite the long line (moves fast) and people placing large BOGO orders, our order was ready in about 7-8 minutes. A M B I A N C E Modern and bright with four tables and millennial club hits playing. Restroom was "out of order". Overall, with the saturation of matcha shops in Silicon Valley, Bonbon stands out for offering matcha desserts. Unfortunately, the taste and quality of their drinks + desserts are not my jam.

Visited during grand opening weekend which had a BOGO on their 4 signature drinks. There was a line to order due to the store being new and the lady outside was offering free keychains/magnets for reviews. While waiting in line I got a bit scared of the matcha based on seeing what other's drinks looked like as they didn't have a good matcha green color. Ended up getting the Sea Salt Cream Foam Matcha, they did not allow less ice either which was weird. I saw it being made and instantly was not a fan of how they had their matcha ready in a pre whisked container which they poured it out of. Matcha was not that great, needed to be stronger also quality felt a bit off even though they had some Ippodo matcha containers for decoration? I did lovee the salted cream cheese foam and that def raised the drinks score for me. Overall, I think there are other better places nearby and likely would not come back here.

Final Thoughts: 1.40/5.0 New matcha place in Cupertino area. My friend and I are out to try all of them, so here we are. Highly unlikely we will be coming here again...During the entire time that we were standing outside, I observed a lot of people's drinks that came out. I was nervous as to how ours would turn out given the drink's color that I saw. Unfortunately, I was just so underwhelmed by the drinks and it will have to be a 1 star for me today. Food: Matcha Strawberry Basque: 2.5/5 This slice is tiny. I measured the slice and it has a diameter of 2.5 inches, meaning their full pan is around 5 inches in diameter. That is truly a tiny slice that they're selling. Thoughts on the price of this cake below. Flavor wise, the strawberry tastes like the cream from those Yan Yan snacks. The matcha is also really not to my liking for this cake. It's quite earthy and has an undesirable bitterness to it. Texture wise, it is smooth and has that creaminess/lava like to it in the center, which was nice to see. Drinks: Classic Matcha Latte: 1.0/5 Friend's drink; not pictured, but I tried it for my review. I was honestly worried about how all of the drinks were going to turn out because the color from everyone else's drink around me had such a light color. The color is truly my initial impression of how the matcha would turn out. The color of the matcha looks fine when it's not mixed. When it's mixed, you can really see how diluted it is. Matcha to milk balance is really off for me. The drink really just tastes like milk. We got less sweet for this drink and it was honestly not sweet at all. I would associate this with being more like 10% sweet. It's not often I say that a drink isn't sweet enough because I always get less sweet, but this one really was not sweet at all. Banana Cream Matcha Latte: 1.0/5 Lowkey thinking this drink was just milk. When this drink came out, I almost knew that I wasn't going to like it because of how light that matcha color was. I had to give it the benefit of the doubt, but ultimately, it is was it is. The cream had no banana flavor to it. Quite comparable to my friend's classic matcha latte drink actually, but slightly higher in calories given the cream on top. There is some richness from the cream, but it doesn't really contribute anything to the drink overall. Matcha was the same as the Classic Matcha Latte with that bitterness and earthiness to it. Matcha Americano: 1.5/5 "Better" ish, but not really. I can taste the matcha more because it's just water and matcha, so there's no milk to mask any of the flavor. Regular sweetness, but it was still not sweet at all. This is just slightly sweetened water with a little bit of matcha in it though. Will definitely be re-mixing my drinks at home to add more matcha and sweetness. Notes: Instead of making and leaving nice layers, I saw them mixing in the fruit puree layer into the drink...Not sure why??? Personally, I would prefer to mix it all myself after a picture. The layers would be better for the gram too. --------- Quality: Batched and Bitter Matcha Their matcha is batched and not made to order. I saw they have large jugs of matcha made ready to go. Honestly, really don't like the taste of this matcha at all. The faint taste that I got from the matchas were bitter and almost this burnt matcha taste. Price: Expensive for what you get Average price at other locations because their matcha is perhaps more desirable and worth it. This matcha really didn't cut it. For the basque cheesecake, also not worth it. If I'm calculating this correctly, each slice is around $13.75. For a full cake, it would be around $55...I'm comparing this to Matcha Town's 4-inch Gelato Cakes (~$33) and unfortunately, they aren't quite as impressive as those gelato cakes are. Service: Fast Service Quick service with taking our orders and getting our drinks. Of note, there are two kisoks on the side that will probably help with the flow a bit more. Not the biggest concern right now. They're very quick to make their drinks, which is interesting to see given that they're doing a BOGO promotion right now. Our drinks came out in less than 7 minutes. Their matcha is batched though, so they just have all of their matcha premixed and then will measure each drink to have a few ounces of it. Ambiance: Hole in the wall Interior is quite small and really just looks like a hole in the wall kind of shop. The counter is right in front of the door and there are a few tables on the side. Definitely more of a grab and go kind of shop. There is no tasting for their ice cream, but honestly, I think it really is quite small. They could have people snake in that way for the tasting if they wanted before reaching the cashier, perhaps. Location/Parking: Parking Garage Available There is a parking lot that is right on the left side of this shop. The shop is facing Vallco Pkwy so you'll see it if you drive by. Given that there's a parking garage, parking's not really a concern.

Even as I grew older, I never grew out of combing through their catalogue of delightful egg tarts and sweet and savory buns. The experience I'm speaking about today pertains to their custom cake order. You will likely need to speak Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese for this. I ordered a 1/2 sheet cake for my party of approximately 20 people, and we had almost half of the cake left over to spare! To be fair, I did give a much more generous estimate (I mentioned that there would be around 20-30 people attending my party). Definitely would've downsized had I known everyone's appetite would be so small. The ladies working there will let you know which size is best for your party. The cake was gigantic, and made in my favorite flavor (their mango mousse) with my birthday message written atop it in red and white icing. I loved everything about it! They're generous with the pickup process, you can definitely arrive after the time you specified for picking up. Everything went very smoothly, my friends were surprised that the cake was so delicious and many had never even had a mango flavored cake to begin with either! The creamy rich mousse layers complement the spongey cake perfectly. It was $135 total, but if you get their regular fruit cream cake, it'll be cheaper than if you pick a specialty cake (their tiramisu, passionfruit, etc).

This time I tried the lemon tart, chocolate-covered strawberries, a macaron, and a lemon cake that was recommended to me. The lemon tart wasn't my favorite. It was a little too tart for my taste. I like lemon desserts, but this one had a very strong lemon punch and could have used a little more sweetness. The lemon cake, on the other hand, was really good. The shop has a nice atmosphere, and it's a great place to stop when you're craving something sweet. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other pastries and desserts. Service was also excellent.
