On April 4th, 2026, I went to this restaurant for lunch with a friend. We were looking for another Korean restaurant, but gave up and settled for Bouchon, and we are glad we did. My boyfriend and I should have split one medium order instead of each getting a small. The boneless wing nuggets are quite meaty. I enjoyed the pickled radish as a palate cleanser since the soy garlic sauce is a bit heavy. After two years, it has finally opened!! After a week of opening, the restaurant is still learning its ways which is totally understandable. I know during night time they were struggling a bit to get takeout orders out. They also stop taking order beforehand as well before they close. We arrived and we were seated right away! The only thing we wish was that the wings were coated more of the glaze. It seemed like it was lightly coated. Raddish 3/5 -- we also have to have a side of raddish. It didn't seem like the raddish we had was fermented long enough. It didn't have much of the pickled flavor but tasted plain. Udon noodles 5/5 -- very good! Had flavor and the portion is great. Pork Bao Buns 4/5 -- some of our buns had a small portion of pork belly in it. We wish it had bigger slices. Other wise, the flavor and texture is really good. We wanted something quick and casual and headed to Bonchon on a Saturday evening since we were in the area. It's a casual place with a Korean sports bar vibe and service was quick. We didn't get the famous fried chicken this time. We both got bibimbaps instead. I got the spicy chicken bibimbap and my partner got the soy garlic chicken bibimbap. Both the flavors of chicken were good. The spicy chicken was actually spicy which I liked. The bibimbap came in a hot stone pot with lots of veggies and quinoa, along with rice. Korean Fried Chicken is the buzz nowadays, so when a bright new store opened up in the 'hood, I had to stop in. It's a pleasant place, like I said, bright, with nice polite cheery Korean servers. I was with my cousin who has an adventurous palate. I made sure we over-ordered a bit as is my custom when I visit a new place. Takoyaki (Fried Oyster-filled dumplings, more like a savory donut-hole), Fried Zucchini and Kimchi were ordered for starters, followed by the Drum and Wing Combo. There are two choices for the sauce, Soy-Garlic and Spicy. You're able to have your order come split in both versions-a nice and welcome option. A really tasty pickled radish came along with the Chix--you could get coleslaw as well, but both of us are Radish fans, so that was the call. Everything presented was very tasty indeed. The starters were all great and the Chix was really crunchy. Both sauces were on the sweet side, but not cloyingly so. The spicy wasn't overtly "hot". Definitely "different" but not so outré as to scare a more timid palate. I wonder if you could get the crunchy-crunchy chicken WITHOUT any sauce. We had canned soda, so no free refills. There is a selection of Asian soft drinks, like Ramune, but those portions are pretty small (and expensive). Beers, too. My cousin swung with a Guinness. For afters I ordered Lychee Sojus. Soju is essentially a Korean Sake. This little tipple was so tasty, we could have had about 5 each, but that would have fouled our driving skills on the way home, and put press to a fine night. Better to err on the side of caution. I think this is a "dine-in" place, 'cos I don't think these dishes would travel very well. The last pieces of chicken on the tray didn't have quite the same smack as the first ones picked up. They were still tasty, mind you, but didn't have that desired "snap". This ain't KFC, folks-it's a notch above. Well worth a visit, and don't let the "foreign-ness" scare you. It's a fun and easy way to add "something new" to your palate. read more

Sad to see this one go downhill. I really liked their food because it was always fresh and the service was good. Now only the service is okay and the food especially wings are cold and sad. I get more drumettes than wings when you specifically ask for wings. A few times they were out of stuff. So I have gone sour on this place. I am so happy they are finally open! Excellent korean fried chicken. The strips are tasty, but it's all about the legs! Soooo crunchy and yet so juicy and delicious! The fried pickles are well seasoned and comes with a great dipping sauce. If you are new to korean fried chicken, ldon't let the prices chase you away. Parking is in a parking lot right near the restaurant, which is in a strip mall. The entrance was doable if you are using an assistive device as long as someone can open the door for you. We went on a Friday evening and it was very busy however the staff did a very good job of keeping up. The restaurant was pretty small and a little cramped, so you better be ok with sitting near and overhearing other customers. The service was outstanding. The servers appeared to work as a team to keep orders coming out and drinks filled. The one issue was that the dishes came out staggered, so the first person served was almost finished when the last one was served. The food was very good and was served hot and fresh. We appreciated the mixed combos of multiple sizes. The coleslaw was pretty basic but the pickled radish was unique and helped cut some of the heat from the spicy chicken. All the chicken dishes were very crisp and flavorful. The zucchini was crisp but basic until you dipped it in the spicy sauce served with it. The takoyaki was served piping hot so it appeared as if the banito flakes were moving, it was very good but could have used a little sauce or salt to add something to it. We at first went to Choongman chicken in Park to Shop but the hours listed on Yelp were incorrect and we didn't want to wait. So, we were happy to see Bonchon was finally open. The lunch specials are a good value compared to the Ala carte for sure. I loved that they offer a 4 wing with 2 drum lunch combo. I also love they will do half soy garlic and half spicy sauce. I opted for the coleslaw... I didn't want to pay extra for anything else, but looking around everything looked delicious. Hubby got the strips lunch special with soy garlic and was very pleased. It was a very disappointing first try. I guess my expectations were a little high because how delicious choongmans chicken right next to it. I got a family pack (half&half) with garlic soy and plain. The plain chicken batter was too thick and the chicken had no flavor at all. The pickled radish was the only thing that tasted right. Soy garlic chicken tasted almost like the plain ones. Very little sauce and too much batter. The sauce was barely covering half of the portion. If you are looking for an authentic korean chicken I'd suggest try the choongmans chicken next door. You will realize the flavor difference is undeniably better there. I will give the benefit of the doubt and give 3 stars to this place only because the service was very good. I visit Bonchon (in Cermak Chinatown / Chicago) often and have NEVER had a bad experience, EVER! I even refer family and friends to the brand. I have NEVER been sooooo disappointed in an order of chicken, as I am today, ordering from THIS location! About 45 minutes ago, I ordered a small spicy wing (10 piece.) Not only did the wings taste a DAY OLD (I.e. REFRIED), but the quality of the wings were low grade, very BAD quality. The chicken wings had a TON of fat on them, which low quality / cheap chicken has. Not only do I NOT eat low quality foods, PERIOD, I don't eat at restaurants that serve it!! I pay top dollar for quality!!! When you go to a grocery store and purchase the cheap chicken / party wings (like Great Value from Walmart), vs the more expensive brands, there are NOTICEABLE differences, INCLUDING the fat content on the wings! Cheap wings have a TON of fat, etc. on them. I visited this location once before and didn't have THIS issue! I paid $18.07 today, for low quality, fatty, OLD / reheated chicken wings, that I couldn't even enjoy due to the old taste and fat content! I couldn't eat all of the chicken due to its LOW quality. I ordered Bonchon for the first time yesterday. My boyfriend insists we always pair wings with watching basketball games. I have never had kbbq wings before yesterday. The young hostess girl at the counter who half heartedly greeted me was either high or just didn't want to be there. Playing on her phone was obviously more important than offering a kind welcome when I mentioned that this was my first time at their establishment.
