Soy Glaze lunch special (half eaten - sorry, not sorry)

Started with the pork potstickers. Delicious! Mama and I split the lunch special wings also in Soy Garlic. Seriously I love this sauce so much! Everything just was perfect! Yum! The consistency is insane here, I love to stop by on my way home and pick up an order of the chicken strips to go. (Pro tip: ask for them to brush extra sauce on the chicken!)

This is actually an update to previous review. I went back and Bonchon totally redeemed themselves. Had BBQ wings and seasoned fries of course. Absolutely delicious and I was totally satisfied. Hot crunchy juicy chicken. The sauce was perfect. I so enjoyed my dinner that I forgot to take a new photo. That's when you know you were focused on the meal. Thank you for making my 4th visit awesome.

Garlic soy boneless wings and pickled radish

This small, noisy place delivers up Korean style chicken (bone in or boneless) as well as an assortment of entree plates and sides. My boyfriend and I should have split one medium order instead of each getting a small. The boneless wing nuggets are quite meaty. I enjoyed the pickled radish as a palate cleanser since the soy garlic sauce is a bit heavy. We split a basket of the fries seasoned with Parmesan and herbs; they stayed hot and crispy throughout our meal. Service was efficient. The floor could have use a mopping; my shoes were sticking to it as I walked!

Every bite of that chicken I kept saying "oh lawd". It was delicious, hot crispy chicken with wonderful flavor. For lunch, I ordered the drum meal(spicy and soy sauce) with steamed rice. Omg. What a treat. Fast quick service. I was pleased.

First time trying this place. Food was pretty solid. Great flavors. Ordered the fries and even with the delivery they were still pretty crispy outside and soft inside . Donuts were ok, but a bit too oily for my taste. Probably will not order again. Good traveled well, so a good choice when looking for delivery.

Fries were good! These are very crispy and crunch but still soft on the inside. 4/5

After two years, it has finally opened!! After a week of opening, the restaurant is still learning its ways which is totally understandable. The restaurant in itself, is pretty nice, clean, but pretty limited to seating! There probably would be a big wait time during rush hour. I know during night time they were struggling a bit to get takeout orders out. They also stop taking order beforehand as well before they close. We arrived and we were seated right away! Our waitress Paula was nice and friendly. Our food came out in a mannerly time. Our food came out one by one and not all together (that is okay for me). The food was great. I have been to this chain restaurant before and we always enjoy their food! So good, I forgot to snap good photos of our food once it came out lol Soy Garlic Wings 4.8/5-- their wings are sooo crispy and cooked to perfection. The only thing we wish was that the wings were coated more of the glaze. It seemed like it was lightly coated. Raddish 3/5 -- we also have to have a side of raddish. It didn't seem like the raddish we had was fermented long enough. It didn't have much of the pickled flavor but tasted plain. Udon noodles 5/5 -- very good! Had flavor and the portion is great. Pork Bao Buns 4/5 -- some of our buns had a small portion of pork belly in it. We wish it had bigger slices. Other wise, the flavor and texture is really good. Fries 4/5 -- very crispy and crunchy but also has a soft texture inside! I would def come back!

    Soy garlic chicken bibimbap

We wanted something quick and casual and headed to Bonchon on a Saturday evening since we were in the area. It's a casual place with a Korean sports bar vibe and service was quick. We didn't get the famous fried chicken this time. We both got bibimbaps instead. I got the spicy chicken bibimbap and my partner got the soy garlic chicken bibimbap. Both the flavors of chicken were good. The spicy chicken was actually spicy which I liked. The bibimbap came in a hot stone pot with lots of veggies and quinoa, along with rice. The gochujang sauce came on the side and was spicy and delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely recommend getting the bibimbap!!

I am so happy they are finally open! Excellent korean fried chicken. The strips are tasty, but it's all about the legs! Soooo crunchy and yet so juicy and delicious! The fried pickles are well seasoned and comes with a great dipping sauce. If you are new to korean fried chicken, ldon't let the prices chase you away. The small order of chicken legs is $15, but you get 5 HUGE legs! They are double fried (not greasy!) and glazed with either a soy garlic or spicy sauce. Worth every penny! Support local and check this place out! It is !

Parking is in a parking lot right near the restaurant, which is in a strip mall. The entrance was doable if you are using an assistive device as long as someone can open the door for you. We went on a Friday evening and it was very busy however the staff did a very good job of keeping up. The restaurant was pretty small and a little cramped, so you better be ok with sitting near and overhearing other customers. The service was outstanding. The servers appeared to work as a team to keep orders coming out and drinks filled. The one issue was that the dishes came out staggered, so the first person served was almost finished when the last one was served. The food was very good and was served hot and fresh. We appreciated the mixed combos of multiple sizes. The coleslaw was pretty basic but the pickled radish was unique and helped cut some of the heat from the spicy chicken. All the chicken dishes were very crisp and flavorful. The zucchini was crisp but basic until you dipped it in the spicy sauce served with it. The takoyaki was served piping hot so it appeared as if the banito flakes were moving, it was very good but could have used a little sauce or salt to add something to it. Over all it was a nice casual meal and we will eat at again if we are in the area.

It was plenty of food, topped off with smores for dessert. The meat was fresh. Lots of meat, good beef, some pork, and a few shrimp. The salads were good... might be better if we'd asked for the salad dressing on the side. The sukiyaki was surprising in that it was more like fried rice. Spicy chiggae soup was yummy, nice and spicy. So much food. Super yummy. Park in the structure around the corner on Chicago Ave.

After 10 minutes the host comes and tells the couple they have tables but they aren't cleaned yet and he's waiting. Mind you the restaurant isn't packed, but there are a few tables dining. I'm guessing they were understaffed. Anyhow, after another 10 minutes the guy ahead of us gets seated. Nothing was said to us. Another party of two came and they were also waiting and they flagged someone down. The host said the same thing as earlier, they have tables that haven't been cleaned. 10 mins later he goes to try to seat them knowing we were there first. The lady even told him, well they were here first. He went ahead and seated them anyway then came back and got us. It's 245. I told him we had a reservation for 230. The lack of communication from the host was off putting. We were hungry and my son really wanted bbq. I would have gone to SGD, but they are closed on Mondays. Anyhow, we wait around a good 10 mins before a server comes to take a drink order. Again, they weren't completely packed, I counted 3 servers and a host. We order ribeye, chicken, filet, kalbi and the hirami in a pot for our meats. We also got corn, spinach, a salad and the fried rice and an order of white rice. I ask him if that's enough food and he says yes, but you can keep a menu in case you want more. Our table was 2 adults and 2 kids who are 11 and 9. Fried rice comes out first and the meats. I ask him to bring the white rice too for my son. He said he forgot and will grab it right away. Let's just say he brought the white rice a good 15 mins after...and I had to remind him. So my son is sitting there eating his meat with no rice. The hirami in the pot was a good size but there were 5 pieces of ribeye and 5 pieces of filet and 5 pieces of chicken and maybe 8 pieces of the kalbi. How is this enough for 4 people? So we order another 2 orders of kalbi. I don't know the happy hour portions are tiny. We also needed refills and that took a couple reminders. We also ordered another order of rice. We are pretty much done eating when I ask him what happened to our rice order? He said he will check and that he ordered it awhile ago. He comes back within 2 minutes with our rice saying there was a mix up in the kitchen? Was it really a mix up or did you just forget? By the time we get our check it's 445. Why did this take so long? We have been there before and we are usually in and out in an hour and a half. So they took the fried rice off our bill. Then for tip, it's asking if we want to tip 18, 22 or 22%? Are you being serious? This guy had to constantly be reminded of everything, service was so slow and he had only two other tables. Someone else was picking up our dirty plates and bringing us the meats. I've never had a bad experience here until now. The visit wasn't worth the $180. Food was good except the filet. That had no flavor at all and had to be drenched with the sauces on the table. We have gotten delivery from here before and the portions were bigger during delivery. One other thing to note, the server never even changed out our grill...they usually do that half way through.

Our food wasn't ready but within 5 mins of us being there it was good to go. We tried the wonton soup and chicken dumplings app. Both were on the bland side. Normally I'm used to wonton soup also having noodles and theirs does not. Flavors were OK, felt like both dishes were missing spices. Everything was cooked perfectly though. In my experience, this signifies either the place was going to be a shithole to pass up, or it was a serious place to eat, then get out and go somewhere with an atmosphere. Happy to say J's (IMHO) is a serious place to eat. No-nonsense, direct and to the point. When I walked in, all those common chairs I mentioned were stacked upside down on the tables in the way that places do when they are closed. The taciturn fellow who worked there assured me they were indeed open, and explained they had just finish washing the floor. Please dont read any of this as negative-the best Chinese places I've ever been have looked like this-and if you've paid attention to the Travel/Food shows on the TeeVee, the joints in China itself are pretty much the same. On to the food, know this place is a Serious REAL-DEAL Chinese resto. I didn't notice if there were "Occidental" Chinese-type dishes on the carte, (primarily 'cos I wasn't looking for them). What I saw looked yum, and had a hard time making choices, even though I had read the menu multiple times and thought I know what I was going to order in advance. Confessionately, this is a chief feature for my tortured dining self-It's a wonder I even get fed in restaurants (especially the great ethnic ones), due to option anxiety. I zeroed in on "Street Noodles" for starters-wouldn't you? Then went to "Cold Beef Shank" for entreé. The Noodles were fab as was the Shank. The noodles were in a broth. with some hunks of bok choy and ground meat on top. Hearty, still light. The shank had a thin sauce complimenting but not obscuring the beefiness. One bugaboo: the Shank needed a bit of seasoning, and I wasn't going to use soy sauce, as I believed that would have marred the subtle flavors of the Beef. I asked for a salt shaker. It arrived, and I was a little taken back, 'cos it appeared it hadn't been washed in a while, and the salt inside was caked. It occurred to me this condition was present due to the non-use of said shaker. I don't think I've ever asked for a salt shaker in a Chinese resto. I pulled a toothpick out of my "Murse" and broke up the caked NaCl. Applying same to the pieces of Shank, the flavor bloomed and I was a happy boy. Bring some salt packets along when you visit "J's", maybe. The fellow who was waiter and cashier was a "western" fellow, whom I engaged and turned out to be quite an experienced foodie. some pleasant conversation indeed.
