I have always loved Bonchon since discovering it in NY. I'm happy to see a Bonchon in the DMV. This Bonchon is great. Customer service is exceptional. Everyone is friendly and easy to talk to. The food is also delicious! I haven't tried everything on the menu because I'm so addicted to the soy garlic and spicy chicken. The seasoned fries are the best around. The only comment I have is that I wish they served more rice as a side. I find myself going home and making extra rice. I've been to South Korea and I would say the kimchi is good and reminds me of home cooked kimchi. I love the pickled radish also. read more

I take into account businesses who are working differently related to COVID. But the establishment opened at 11am. Our office places an order at 11. We were told our food would not be delivered until almost 1pm! We are again in an healthcare office and nurses have to stagger their lunches. Food taste and portion is not consistent with the Manassas and Centreville location. I ordered the wings and fried rice with bulogi added. The wings are on the drier side and tiny in comparison to the other two locations. The rice was so bland and is something I can make at home. I have tried this location at least twice and same poor food quality. In addition, the customer service is terrible. I went to pick up the food at this location and was greeted poorly. I told the person my name for which the name was ordered under and the person at the registered said Grubhub as if I worked for them. I love to support local businesses during this time, but highly recommend the owners to visit the other two locations and pay extra attention to their excellent customer service for training purposes as well as consistency. I'm not a huge fan of this restaurant. I call it the Burger King of Korean food. The prices are expensive and the spicy chicken is wayyyy too spicy, to the point where it's not even enjoyable. The soy garlic drumsticks were pretty good, but not worth almost $40 alone. The plain chicken is exactly what it says - plain (and tasteless). The bimbimbap came with little rice, so we added some of our own at home. Service was fast and friendly. Online ordering said it would be ready in an hour but we got the text to pick it up within 15 minutes. Overall, I'd rather spend $100+ for a family meal on authentic Korean food. read more

This branch of the BonChon restaurant chain falls far short of its sister restaurants. Portion sizes are half those of the other restaurants, and they just served me soy garlic wings which are extremely small (think Buffalo Wing restaurants) and no where near the standard of other BonChons. I questioned the manager on duty and he said the other restaurants are breaking the rules. I have enjoyed BonChon at five other sites and they are all consistently superb. Let me start off by first saying I am a huge fan of BonChon and love their food. When I saw this location was opening in Gainesville I was ecstatic as this is now the closest location to where I live. Previously I would order from the Manassas location. I ordered wings from the new Gainesville location today during their soft opening and was not impressed. That being said, it is a soft opening so I don't expect them to have everything perfected yet. I hope to try this location again in the next few weeks and hopefully edit this review. The two things that I was disappointed with was #1 the customer service in particular from the manager and #2 the amount of flavor or sauce put on the wings. As some of you may know BonChon has recently introduced a new third flavor called sweet crunch. I have not tried it yet and when I called in my to go order asked if they could toss a few of the wings in the new sauce so I can taste it before having them put my whole order or half of my order in the new sauce. I have not had any problems with other locations doing some special request for me like this from time to time but this new location refused which is fine, I just found it surprising since they're a new location and I would figure that Customer Service is going to be a top priority to gain a good following. The other thing that really surprised me was when I went in the restaurant to pick up the order I asked one of the staff members if I could get some of the new sweet crunch sauce on the side and a small container just so I could taste it. She went and asked the manager and came back and told me that they would not do that. This really struck me as odd as all I'm asking for is a little sample of the new flavor sauce that they toss the wings in so I can know if I wanna order it in the future. As far as the food, it was delicious however it seemed to not have as much sauce on it than typical at the other well-established locations. There were parts of my drums and wings that didn't have sauce on it at all and I could taste only the fried chicken, which isn't bad and definitely still delicious, but I love their original soy garlic sauce and ideally it should be all over the drums and wings. So for now, because the customer service I Received and the lack in sauce on the wings I'm going to give them a three star review. Bonchon hasn't managed to keep up with the other chicken places available now. The servers were friendly but the main person (maybe manager?) who runs the front desk is rude. No worries because I don't show up at restaurants expecting to walk out friends with management but the food (bibimbap) was not good (and $$$) but more importantly the chicken wings were not as meaty/crispy compared to other Bonchon locations. Longtime bonchon fan and so I was pleasantly surprised to come across one when we stopped in Gainesville. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was. This was not bonchon chicken, it was overcooked lousy chicken fingers with a minuscule amount of something vaguely resembling their sauce. When I went back in to ask if there had been some mistake, the manager told me that two months ago "headquarters" stopped sending them chicken breasts "because of covid" and so this is what they had. I have eaten at the Bon Chon in Manassas and it was wonderful. This location, Gainesville, is a total disappointment. The sauces were very good and the coleslaw was good. I ordered from the lunch menu. I ordered six wings. I got three partial wings and three wing drumsticks. They were small. They reminded me of wings you get a a regular wing place. The wings at the Manassas location are twice the size of these. The "drumsticks" were also very dry. I give two stars, one for the sauces and one for the speed of delivery. I went in to Bonchon chicken on Valentine's Day, spent over an hour waiting for an order of over $100 for a family of 5 that was suppose to be ready in 40 minutes. I was kind, patient and understanding because I understand things happen. Got my order and realized it was only the first half. Waited a few more minutes for the second half and expressed to the staff in a nice way that I was disappointed. At that time the manager on duty offered to replace my meal the next time I came in, Sarah, who was very nice, took down my info and said she would be in Sunday if I wanted to come in then and she would be aware of the conversation. I called today to place the order but Sarah had already left, the manager was not there but I did speak to the owner. He offered to give me a family meal valued at $30 dollars but said he wasn't aware of the situation and did not agree to the offer the manager gave on Friday. If you can't back up your manager that you hired and his decisions that reflects poorly on the owner. Sarah and the staff were awesome! The food was good but not worth $100 for 42 wings, 6 drumsticks, four small orders of coleslaw one small plate of fried rice for 5 people and 3 orders of fries. However upon walking through the door to be almost seated they informed us they were closing in 30 minutes, no welcome or thank you for coming to Bonchon. Once we get our order it didn't come with the radishes like normally and it's small nuggets of chicken barely covered in the sauce. They waiter barely came back and when he did he reached across the table in poor manner but never asked to make sure the food was okay or if we needed more to drink.
