I don't get the hype. I got the soy garlic? Chicken strips and they were good but not something I'd make the 15 minute drive for, again. In their defense, it was maybe 30-40 minutes to closing time. If I happen to be in the shopping center I might check it out. read more

While I would always recommend dining in, I can't say I would ever recommend their takeout. If you order ahead of time, they cook your food immediately, so if you place your order at 1130 for a pickup at 1230, they've made your food by 11 50 and it's cold by the time you get it. Would chalk this up to a one off mistake, but it's happened across multiple orders. read more

I first saw BonChon Chicken in Virginia Beach/Norfolk area but did not get a chance to go in but was hoping to go when we returned to VB. However, to my pleasant surprise, I ran into BonChon Chicken at Gambrills and found out there's two more locations nearby. Went in for lunch on Saturday and the place was somewhat packed? It was late afternoon. The waiter gentleman was super polite and extremely courteous (wish more servers were these nice, you will get bigger tip ;). We ordered the Salmon Avocado and requested for the Salmon to be well done (well seared) and to put the sauce on the side. It was sooo much more than we expected. Out of this Planet! Both I and my wife loved every bite of it. We also got the Popcorn Chicken and to be frank their Popcorn Chicken does not come close to any of the so called Pop-corn chickens I ever had. Forget fast food popcorn chicken. This is where other popcorn chickens need to take lots of pointers from Bonchon's popcorn chicken puts shame to others. For entree we got the Spicy Chicken Bibimbap and this fish also was exceptional and became our fev on first bite. They have so many other items that we wanted to try but 2 of us can only eat so much. We brought home half of each items because it was too much food for us. This is good that we eat very little as this gives us chance to keep coming for new items to try. This restaurant was one of our favorites. However lately, the quality has slipped. They use bottled old garlic for the Kimchi. A very bad aftertaste. Being a cook , jarred garlic is no substitute for fresh garlic. We lived in Korea for 6 years and know Bibimbap Stone Bowls. The Bibimbap Stone Bowl was very disappointing. The 2 characteristics of a stone bowl are; moist, crispy bottom and loose Egg yoke. The bottom was not crisp, it was dry, and the egg was HARD. The meat was very salty as well. The Takoyaki & chicken were delicious as usual. We had the green tea and it was warm, not hot. We will give it another shot but were very disappointed. read more

The food and service are simply awesome. Daughter and I had the pot stickers 1/2 soy ginger 1/2 spicy. The Spicy is Spicy ! Follow that up with the wings and the wrap, both delicious. Pretty cool spot! I'll be back. read more

Great service! Ordered the soy garlic wings lunch special...4 orders to be exact...2 to eat there and 2 to go. All 4 tasted Great! Order came out in a timely fashion, unlike some locations. Chicken was cooked to crispy perfection on the outside, and juicy and tender on the inside. The radish cubes were also perfectly seasoned/marinated. Will be my go-to Bonchon from now on. No more Ellicott City, and definitely not Arundel Mills. read more

I really loved Bonchon Crofton. I used to eat there twice a week. The downhill slide started about a month ago, when I recieved an order of barely done chicken. The meat was cooked, but the usually delicious crunchy coating was gummy. I called and they offered me a redo. Nice offer, but I realized that something had changed. It doesn't seem like the chicken is being pounded out any more, so you bet parts that are delish, and parts that are gummy. Tonights order: Cole slaw instead of radish. Kimchee coleslaw that tastes, smells and has the texture of slaw that has been around a bit. I won't be going back...and mixed coating quality. I will not be returning. read more

Ordered water, from the water alone I should have known the food wasn't going to be good. Everything here was disgusting. Ordered some chicken wings, the batter was super super thick. Also, got and order of bulgogi and it tasted nothing like real bulgogi more like the inside of a fajita. I wouldn't come here if you want to eat authentic Korean food. This is my first and likely only one star review that I will ever give. When we ordered the chicken, we requested the spicy chicken (which is one of two options), but it didn't come instead we got the soy garlic. After we reminded, the waiter of our choice, he took it back and then within 3 mins we got our new food. The time it took to return, strongly suggests that they just washed off the original flavor and put on the new one. And unlike other Korean food that I have had, it was incredibly spicy. When we asked the waiter, he said we should have gotten the soy garlic and that it is very spicy. However, our belief, is that the waiter and cook, made it extra spicy, and purposely ruined the meal. For anyone that is looking to go here, avoid the place. read more

This location is THE BEST! This was the first one we went to...tried the ones closer to home (Canton and Owings Mills) and somehow they just weren't the same. The others just didn't measure up! The food at this location is consistently GOOD-- fresh, crispy wings with the exact right amount of sauce! The service is good and the restaurant is clean and inviting. Crispy perfection (soy & garlic) Fried rice sucked - dont bother Chicekn Katsu - if you like a fried chicken breast and white rice get it Shrimp Dumplings - just ok! Chicken Katsu wrap - dry and tasteless Salmon Ball - Gross Like I said the wings are by far the best you will ever taste. I prefer the Korean place in Odenton called K Manna Rice Factory. Last night a friend and I went to bonchon, where we are regulars because the food is great, but last night, we came around 9:40 (they close at 10:30) and they began to pack up to close, we had a $15 tab, and left a $3.00 tip (15%) we were sitting in the parking lot in the car when the waitress came up and banged on our window, she yelled that if we came closing time, we should tip at least 15% (which we did) and to not come back again, we told her that it wasn't 10:30 so it wasn't closing time quite yet and that we did tip 15%, she continued to yell and basically told us we weren't welcome back again, I called the manager to notify her of this, she said "okay I'll tell her" no reassurance that it would be rectified, I came here at least 1-2 times a week and now I don't think I'll come back, the waitress was awful and I don't want to run into her again read more

Wings are so good - plenty of meats and proper fry. Potstickers are heavenly delicious - sauce on surface tastes so good and inside, pork is cooked well and have apparently been marinated very well. Fried fries are so good - my kid agrees that they are way much better than the ones in Five Guys and other restaurants. Will definitely go back for other food like Udon. Their chicken bites are not the same. Stay away from them. Spent $35 on two orders and was very disappointed would have loved my money back.

The Kimchee really shouldn't be on the menu for sale...for $3, it's pretty sad quality.

Do NOT go this this place! This place is disgusting. We ordered medium size (20 pieces) spicy chicken strips, but the waiter made a mistake and brought us soy garlic. We returned it, explaining that we ordered the other flavor. When waiter brought us the strips a few minutes later (which was oddly quick), we could not eat more than 2 pieces, because they were painfully hot. I got full just by drinking water. Being Korean and knowing that how fried chickens from other Bonchon places taste like, I told to the waiter that the chicken is too spicy and he jeered saying that we should have just eaten soy garlic when he gave us them. read more
