I normally go to the Locust Point location and have never really had issues there, so I don't want this experience to give the impression that I think Ekiben is bad overall. This was genuinely just one bad experience. The food itself is still AMAZING. I'm obsessed with the Tacklebox, the tempura broccoli is , and the chili noodles are an absolute SMASH. I'll definitely still be back because I genuinely love Ekiben -- I just hope there's better communication when an item from a scheduled order is no longer available.

Very bad. I usually don't write a review when I don't like a restaurant but this place was a poor example of good Korean food. I usually feel a bit sorry for a restaurant and it owner but there is not excuse for serving this king of food if you want to stay in business. If you want the best Korean food in the area you need to go down to Mandu on K st in DC. that serves Superb Korean food. Back to this place. The Bulgugi was a plate full of sauteed onions and a sprinkling of beef. I would say the dish was 95% or more onions and the rest a couple mushrooms and tiny pieces of beef. If you like a plate of sauteed onions the Bulgugi here is your ticket. The pork buns were tough to bite into and had no flavor. We also got wings which were so so at best. Maybe this review can help someone else avoid a waste of money and a disappointing Korean meal. read more

The chicken wings are fire here, as well as the tacos. Would definitely recommend the kimchi bacon fried rice, I had never heard of that before (not Korean) but I was not disappointed with the combo. Roaming Roosters, Canes, 2 Royal Farms, Wing Stop, Popeyes, Nandos, Miski (R.I.P.), Dat Jerk (McJamaican), Bon Chon, The Chicken Shack, and still to come Big Chicken which is owned by Shaq will be opening somewhere in the area. It just seems like a lot. To the point i heard someone refer to this area as "The Chicken strip" lol However, I was on Grubhub one night and decided to give it a try. I got a chicken sandwich with Korean BBQ sauce that I wasn't crazy about. The sandwich was just completely soaked with sauce and was sloppy, I wasn't feeling it. I also ordered the wings with cayenne ranch dry rub, and they were absolute fire. So then of course I had to follow up by trying the strips which I actually did today. We dined in (even though I ordered to go) and the staff was reallly nice, like Chickfila level nice, and the store was super clean. There was even a guy outside sweeping the parking lot, that to me looked spotless, but I guess he was sweeping away any possibility that a speck of dirt or debris may land, because I didn't see anything anywhere. When I got my food the first thing I thought was, these tenders look similar to Cane's. Like, almost identical, but as soon as I took a bite, there was no more comparison. The tenders were perfectly seasoned and the fries look the same way McDonald's fries look (in commercials), golden with a slight crunch, and not overly salty. (Review then sits in my draft for like 4 months at this point. I dont even know why) Picking up where I left off, I've since been here like 5 times. I still like it alot, the sandwiches are fire, the tenders are fire, and the wings (cayenne ranch) are fire. Though, I do wish incould get cayenne ranch tenders, but for a once every now and then option this spot is solid.

Hard over fried and not that good, but the hot and sour soup was on the money. The egg rolls were decent, but a little greasy. I wish they were crispier, but outside of having to remove some of the grease they were pretty good. The wings were also solid, my only hold up is that they break the wings down into flats and drumsticks and count them each. So a 5 pc wing is only 2.5 wings (3 flats and 2 drumsticks or vice versa), and the fries were soggy. I feel like even though the food isn't perfect, it's still solid. It's not just completely bland or bad. I'm okay with adding soy sauce to something I feel needs a boost, but I am against food that is just not prepared well, and I think that's where Hunan Express edges the other guys out. On top of that the store is clean, and that's something I feel you have to pay attention to these days. The thing is I'm not looking for authentic Chinese cuisine, I'm looking for good Chinese carryout food. I'm looking for something quick and reliable, on a night when I'd rather hang with the kids and be lazy. Suddenly he was ducked off in the back and wouldn't even come out to speak to my wife. The manager already knew the kind of night we'd had and should've come out and handled the situation himself. The gyro was good with all fresh ingredients. They have several sauces. You can put it on the side. One is a white sauce, a green sauce, and the red sauce is Spicer but very flavorful. My gyro really hit the spot. I was not able to finish it for lunch, but I finished it off for dinner, and it still was tasty. I'm interested in trying some of the other items on the menu. The restaurant tables were clean. Since we decided to dine in. So that's good to know.

So you already know the line was out the door and basically around the corner. Since this was my first time trying them, I decided to get the combo over rice (lamb & chicken) and boyyy was It good. Now as a heads up the lamb has onions mixed in It, so if you have any allergies be aware. But besides that the food was super flavorful, including the white and green sauce. Fun fact: this is one of 13 locations.
