The food here tastes good enough but the service is beyond terrible and the manager /owner (as he described himself) has all the customer service ability of the average brick. The staff speak next to no English and when the order is wrong the manager blames the customer and doubles down. It is little wonder that the place is like a ghost town every time I go in there. Suffice to say that our regular visits which have seen service drop each time have now come to an end. Well done on losing more customers Bonchon Leesburg! We went to the Village of Leesburg Bonchon on my daughters birthday, January 12. Unfortunately this turned into a horrendous experience for her. We ordered 3 meals, in addition an order of fries. We asked that the fries come out as soon as feasible. Unfortunately, we received no communication while waiting that there was some problem in the kitchen. We waited an entire hour for all of the food AND never received the French fries. To say we were disappointed, is quite the understatement. We had to track down refills for water, track down our check, and were even more disappointed that NOT ONCE did anybody recognize or acknowledge there was a problem. If there was some sort of communication, we could have salvaged our meal and gone some place. A complete waste of our $58. I can't believe how bad of an experience this was! This was my first visit and I went a bit later than the usual dinner hour so the kitchen was not busy but I had a great experience and look forward to returning. I went with my teenaged son and ordered quite a bit (being that we were hungry and it was our first time there) and found it all to be quite good. The bulgogi was tasty and his wrap with chicken was good as well. The chicken was also quite good. We had the mix so we could taste both flavors. The soy garlic is good but not overly flavorful. The spicy chicken was probably my favorite dish as it had a nice bit of spice while still being quite tasty. To sum up, everything here was tasty but not remarkably so. This is like the Big Bowl version of Korean food. Not authentic to be sure but nevertheless quite good. Final note: the wait staff and service were excellent. The place is undone, handymen are still working here, it is sort of dusty looking too. The poor waitress dose not know much about the menu and from almost 20 items in the menu they only have 5 The drums are toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosmall. And they do not give you some sauce (sterling branch gives you what you need) The spicy chicken is not as spicy is as it should be also. The I keyed daikon radish was not as tasty as other branches that I had, maybe needed more time to get ripen! I am soooo bump now, was waiting to get some good Korean chicken and japchae ..., but I hope they get better. I had my order after 10 min and waited 5 more for cutleries. Although the chicken was delicious, the rest of the evening was quite forgettable. I realize it's still the soft opening period but we were there last night and with four days until their grand opening, those are best spent focusing on the inept wait staff and nonexistent/unfinished decor. We will return but just for takeout as it is very expensive for a "chicken joint". I looked forward to going to the one in Leesburg and was disappointed. The boneless looked like chicken fast food nuggets and the spicy drums were not even close to being spicy. I tried this place for the first time a few days ago on the recommendation of a friend with whom I was to meet while visiting Leesburg. I was incredibly pleased by the polite and attentive waitstaff, the tasty food, and the pleasant atmosphere. As anyone who has read my other reviews knows, when it comes to dining out, one of my primary criteria is a pleasant atmosphere, devoid of loud music or even nerve-wracking acoustics. There was an amazing array of music, all of which suited my musical tastes, and it was set at a volume such that I could hear it clearly without having to shout to be heard or lean close to hear what my dinner guest was saying... well perhaps a little close... but that was perhaps more by choice on my part. ;-) The food was a much-appreciated pleasant surprise. I tried only one actual menu item which was recommended by my dinner guest, as I wasn't quite sure what to order. What I chose was listed under the misleading name of "chicken strips". The name doesn't do it justice. What I received, priced at $12, was a tray of ten LARGE medallions of chicken medallions, each about 3-4" in diameter, not at all breaded, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, tasting of teriyaki and coated in something sweet. Every last piece was delicious. I'm not exactly sure how this happened, but my server recommended I try a pickled radish side dish, cautioning me that many Americans don't relate well to it. I suppose she correctly guessed I'm somewhat adventurous. At first it seemed strange, but as I progressed through it I came to love it and finished every last piece. I regret to say that it is only since dining there that I've come to understand that this is actually a chain, and though I only rarely review chains, I feel I'd be doing others a disservice if I didn't recommend this place. Being a chain, and considering that Leesburg actually isn't convenient to me, I expect I'll be trying other outlets of this chain as I become aware of them. I'm eager to try some of their other dishes, and if I enjoy the other locations as much as I did this one, I expect I will eventually hold one of my social gatherings at one. read more

So I have some catching up to do. I vowed never to return to one Bonchon but did give this one a try. So basically my life has turned into Goldilocks and the 3 Bonchons. This location is the one that is "good" or "a-ok" but still needs some work. It's usually a bit on the empty side and in an area with tons of choices. The waitstaff is polite if somewhat forgetful. Overall, the chicken here is good, the salmon ball is good but you have to remind the waiter to bring radish and that tastes a bit soggy. If you are out in Leesburg and can't make the drive to Centreville, this will do in a pinch. read more

Went in to order a to-go order. The place was completely dead with one couple leaving as I walked in. I placed my order at the bar and then sat there......for 33 MINUTES before my order was ready. Best chicken wings around! Bon Chon nails the chicken wing competition hands down. This location has an awesome, friendly staff. Their other menu options like bulgogi and bi bim bap rival other Korean restaurants. This makes the Leesburg Bon Chon ideal for people craving great wings and/or other options. We used to go to the Centreville location a lot, but the Leesburg one is closer, less packed, and it's easier to interact with this family-owned location. My friends' families regularly go to this location because of the great food and staff. For those with pickier eaters that might not be as adventurous with food, I think they honestly would love one of their menu options like the chicken sliders. Our kids and their friends request Bon Chon over their past favorites. I'm so happy this location is close by and solid! read more

Was introduced to BonChon when I was still living in Jose California. I'm here in VA on a business trip and to my surprise they had one near the Lansowne Resort, so I got really excited and decided to head over and enjoy that famous crunch and taste of their chicken. First thing I noticed walking up to this location was all the hand and finger prints on the entrance door. Immediately when I opened it, there was this very pronounced "old broke down gym/old sweat socks/stagnant water" type of smell. Bottom line it didn't smell sanitary. And I literally waited longer than anyone else in the entire restaurant for my wings....and my table was the first one seated. Everyone else's food was brought, I asked for my wings three times. And when I complained to my waitress, she turned and walked away while I was in mid sentence. I wasn't being loud, although I was upset, but was still civilized. This place has potential. The chicken wings are decent. I try to focus on the good, but this place needs to take a stronger managerial stance if is going to survive. I like gangsta rap (real rap 1998 and down), but lil Uzi Vert is not the preferred music with my minor children. I feel like they are shooting for a vibe that isn't quite hitting it's queue. Again I try to look for the positive, and perhaps it was an off day (Friday night), but the place was understaffed for the amount of patrons coming in and out. I would not recommend this place for a sit in. I did see a lot of phone in orders coming in for pickup. I haven't tried it, but this appears to be the restaurants strong suit. So glad they opened a Bonchon here. The restaurant has been a perennial family favorite. We've gone a couple of times during the soft opening. The kitchen staff is getting better (read quicker). The soft open was a great idea to get the wrinkles out. It gives the kitchen staff time to get familiar with the complicated menu. But the chicken as always was great. I'm really looking forward to the grand opening with the full menu. I'm looking forward to the Japchae. Glass noodles with red peppers, spinach, mushrooms and thinly sliced marinated beef -- how can you go wrong!?! Terrible. Our experience today was one that I won't repeat. We were seated and it took about 10 minutes before our waiter came and threw some water on the table. After asking for a lemon for my water, Alex yelled over at me from the bar that they were out of lemons. He never even offered anything else to drink. He couldn't remember my order and was rude when he came back to confirm it. He brought he food out and just put it on the table, not even in front of who ordered what. My chicken, which had the potential to be good, was just warm, not hot. My kids' food was ok. He never checked in on us during our meal either. We will not being going back to Bonchon, unfortunately. Spent $30 for the smallest driest chicken strips I've ever had from the Bon Chon franchise. The strips from the Annandale and Woodbridge are always consistent and big, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Not sure what the "new management" is doing here but it's not acceptable for what they are charging. I used to frequent the Bon Chon in Centreville until I moved out to the Ashburn-Leesburg area. I was excited to come across the Bon Chon in Leesburg and ordered my usual 10 drumsticks to go. I was quickly disappointed when I got home and opened up the box of chicken only to find that the drumsticks were more like drumettes. The drumsticks at the Centreville Bon Chon are huge (2-3 times the size) compared to the drumettes offered by the Leesburg location. I will stick with the Centreville location because I feel I get better value. Boo on the Leesburg location for being cheap on size and really coming across as expensive relative to the size of the drumsticks you get. read more

My daughters and I LOVE this place. Much rather eat this than KFC and Popeyes. Super crispy and flavorful. I recommend the mix of hot and soy. I would not come back here if someone paid me to. When we walked in we were greeted by a rude bald guy who acted like he was too busy to seat us. We waited 10 minutes for a waitress to greet us and take a drink order. We had to wait 40 minutes for our meal. While waiting we noticed 6 incoming customers leave because there was no one at the hostess stand to seat them. The surrounding tables were not cleaned the entire time we were there. At the bar, the bartender would leave empty glasses and bottles for 20 minutes before he cleaned them off the bar. I ordered Bull Dak and it only had 4 little rice cakes on the platter. Just made our first visit to Bonchon. We weren't in the mood for fried chicken, so we bypassed their signature Korean fried chicken and went for some of the other items on the menu. I ordered the Korean tacos with the spicy chicken ($10.95). Wife got the same but with the bulgogi. Order came with three tacos that were plump, meaty, and full of flavor. The spicy chicken sauce had a big kick to it, so much so that my nose was running by the time I had finished the first taco. It was glorious. Great flavor. I'm a kimchi fan, so I had to try Bonchon's kimchi coleslaw ($3.00). Wow! This had everything that I liked about coleslaw but with an extra oomph from the kimchi. Wife got the edamame ($5.95) which came out warm and perfectly seasoned. Service was pretty good. We will be going back!! read more

The bonchon chicken here is a hit or miss. Chickens wings comes in various sizes from small tiny pieces to giant fist size - very inconsistent. Flavor wise is just like any other bonchon places, can't mess this up as the sauces are the same corporate sauce. They are still in their soft opening phase, so half of the menu is not yet available. The decors inside is very bland and bare boned compared to other bonchon I have been to. It gave me the impression the owner ran out of funds half way through.
