We were feeling like we wanted some sort of Asian cuisine last night so the hubs suggested this place. It was a first time for the family and have only heard great things about their fried chicken. Upon entering, I was happy to see it was a clean and modern looking establishment. We were seated near the back of the restaurant and promptly put in our drink orders (waters all around). Of course we had to try their chicken wings... we opted for ten garlic soy wings instead of spicy since we had the kiddos. These came out soo crispy, tossed in a very tasty sauce. The chicken was moist and just perfect!!! I highly recommend ordering these. One of the kiddos really wanted noodles. The only noodle dish they had available was Japchae. They are glass noodles in their house Bonchon garlic soy sauce with peppers, carrots, mushrooms and marinated beef. This was so delicious! To end the delicious meal, we got an order of mochi- two vanilla and one passion fruit. Please stop on by and give some love to this place. I feel like they should definitely have a higher rating. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to try the chicken wings or the fried chicken, which was the reason why I stopped by, being that a friend of mine said "dude, after I pound some beers, I get some wings at Bonchon and call it a day". I guess, take advice from a drunk dude with a grain of salt. So, here I am at Bonchon, thinking of chicken wings but I have a change of heart and I order the spicy Korean chicken tacos, which I would say were pretty good. I also got a veggie fried rice, some kimchi, a Florida beer (what's up with Orlando beer?), and white rice. The kimchi was OK, and the fried rice tasted like frozen food, so not exciting. Forget about eating at this place. The food is just terrible. It's not even close to being Korean or fusion. This Bonchon location doesn't live up to its good reputation at all. I hate this shop. I got the worst dine-in experience in here. I have a dog small so we were sitting at one of the tables outside. Took 20' for someone to come to take order. Another 5' for water. I even gotta wipe the table myself. The shop was slow at the time because I see nobody inside. We ordered a japchae & wings. It took like 15' for japchae & another 10' for wings. We suppose to have them on our table at the same time. It wasn't right. Staff was slow & sleepy. Was really kinda disappointed coming here the 2 times I came in 1 week. The first time was with a co-worker whose first time was at Bon Chon ever and the second time was with my husband who had been to Bon Chon at least 4 times before - twice in NYC, once in Manila, and once in the airport location. Both times when I came with my co-worker and my husband, the place had really bad smell once you opened the doors. It was kind of like a mix between bleach, dirty mop water, and fried oil. After a few minutes we got used to it, but when we got up to use the restroom, the smell got increasingly stronger since you passed by the kitchen. Not a good first impression. We all got an order of the wings and I was suprised out how small the pieces of chicken were. I assured my co-worker this is NOT what we had in NYC, Manila or by the airport. I even had to break out my Facebook photos from 2012 to show her the original size of the chicken which is like a drumstick of fried chicken that you get at Publix. The taste was ok and the crunch wasn't as impressive as in the past. I was actually somewhat embarrased to take my co-worker here but she actually didn't mind any of it since she had never had KFC before. The KFC at Hawkers or Domu far exceed Bon Chon's so the next time I have a hankering for it or are asked for a recommendation for it, I will be suggesting those 2 places instead. Meh. Food is alright, but unfortunately, the place seems consistently understaffed. Every now and then, I get a craving for that yummy, saucey fried chicken the chain is known for (bulgogi fried rice and seasoned fries are okay too). If I'm dining in, the service is mediocre, if it's takeout, the order is rarely ready at the specified pickup time, and curbside is a pipe dream. Nobody is walking food out to you. Not a huge inconvenience to most, BUT if you've got little babies in the car you can't leave and don't want to lug 'em in just to grab a bag.... or you're disabled, it's a huge turn-off. I really hope staffing will improve. In the future, I'll stick with doordash so it's brought right to me without the hassle. read more

I am visiting my mom from out of town, and was excited that a Bonchon is nearby! Unfortunately, it's not one of the better ones. I ordered for pick up, and when we arrived nothing was started even though we ordered it about an hour prior. We had boneless chicken tenders (soy garlic and bulgogi sauces), fried rice with steak, coleslaw, shrimp shumai and pork dumplings with bulgogi sauce. The food was different temperatures when we got home- it seemed like the tenders were sitting for a bit, and were already starting to get mushy. The rest of the items were still really hot which was great (it was just a 5 minute drive). The pork dumplings were by far the best! The shrimp shumai was okay, the coleslaw was good, the fried rice was delicious but the pieces of meat were so tiny we thought they were mushrooms, and the tenders disappointing because they had no crunch, though they tasted good. I'm not sure I'd return to this location. If so, I'd eat in. read more

My daughter and I came on Sunday at 11 to do take out for lunch. They say "first impressions are lasting impressions" and upon opening the door immediately we realized the floor was wet, really wet and very slick. We both looked down walking carefully. The gentleman in the front said "sorry we just mopped". How about a wet floor sign or mop earlier. Someone could seriously get hurt. We ordered at the bar and waited outside. The waitress brought us water which was nice. She also came out and told us it would be 25 min for the small wing combo with soy garlic sauce. Wow! We watched as the manager was basically chasing potential patrons to come inside then opening the door to tell them to watch their step bc the floor was wet. How about grabbing a towel? As we waited my daughter needed to go to the restroom, and we make our trek to the back slowly so we didn't slip. As we made it to the back of the restaurant there was this smell that was totally overwhelming. So bad it made the bleach smell good. The Wings: We waited 30 minutes for just the small wing combo. We got home. Our order was wrong. Half spicy and half soy garlic. And we had to reheat it so it was cooked right bc it was slightly undercooked. We tossed half of the order. One star just for the pickled radish which was good. Disappointed as we love the locations in Northern VA. I hope they iron out these challenges they have, but for now we won't be back. read more

My family LOVES Bonchon's chicken wings, we have our weekly craving that nothing else can seem to substitute the need of having that mouthwatering crispy deliciousness. With that being said their hot (spicy) chicken wings are super hot, so beware if you are not able to handle extra spicy well. Their soy garlic wings is my family's favorite and the pickled reddish side is a must have to go with the wings! The only thing that we had issues with is this store doesn't open until noon and if we call at 12 to schedule a take-out order it takes 45 minutes for it to be ready, so essentially we have to plan on having lunch at 1pm if we wanted to eat bonchon. I really wish the store opening hours would become more friendly to accommodate the longer wait time. read more

We will drive farther to go to this location, which is the size of a shoebox, than drive to the MASSIVE location closer to the parks.. WHY you ask... because they actually serve you, where as the other location will have you listening to your tummy rumble coz they still have yet to ask you what you want to drink! This location is pretty quick but I'm sure after I write this review there will be a little more of a wait.. sorry my bad. LOVE the original flavor the best and can devour 20 wings by myself...Tuesdays kids eat free which is even better coz ... now we have kids lol. So I visited a Bonchon in Norfolk, VA a couple weeks ago. I wanted to try the Korean wings that folk had been blogging and talking about. The wings I got there were basic at best. I was not impressed and questioned the hype. But one thing they did have that was not available in the Alifaya location was seasoned fried zucchini. I would drive 30 miles for the zucchini alone. Unfortunately, this Bonchon didn't have any on their menu. But I did order the soy garlic drums and wings combo. I must admit that it was really good. It was so good that I doubled back a couple of days later and hit it again. I was about to write off Bonchon before I hit the Alifaya Trail location. One thing that did stand out was that the high top table we sat at had a sticky surface even after it was wiped down. We drive 45 minutes just to get a taste of BonChon. It reminds me so much of home (I used to frequent Bonchon on John in NYC) Theres nothing on the menu that leaves you disappointed. Food: Today I ordered 1/2spicy, 1/2 sweet crunch 10pc strips. My absolute favorite. My husband ordered the combo and he savored every bite. Update: this is my 2nd review of Bonchon in Waterford close to UCF my first review being before corona and this review being after. I would have to say the restaurant has definitely improved a lot since corona with a rework of the menu to be simpler to order and drastic improvement in food taste and quality. Before the chicken was amazing and still is with a consistency in the quality and flavor my favorite is still the spicy chicken. However I have to say you should absolutely have the fried rice with chicken or kimchi we absolutely demolished it and was so amazing so props to whoever was on rice entree station Thursday October 28th. Our servers lymarie and Emily P were very nice and accommodating the qualm is that wet wipes weren't served with the chicken even though we were such a mess by the end of our meal. Otherwise the food is top notch and is clearly a contender for the best fried chicken in Orlando. Pros: food taste and quality is really good chicken consistently tasted great, the fried rice was bomb. Cons: wet wipes weren't given for such a messy meal. Do you like KFC and Popeyes chicken? If you're like me, you probably said yes. If you want to elevate that experience, you have to try Bon Chon. It's tucked away in a Waterford Lakes shopping plaza next to a Hot Pot restaurant and it's easy to miss. I suggest looking for it and giving it a try. It can get pricey unless you go during one of the specials. We went on a Monday where it was $1 wings and tenders. That's a good option if you're going for the first time as you don't have to get a bunch. They normally have 2 sauces (spicy and soy garlic) but recently added a new one (sweet crunch). If it's your first time, I'd recommend trying all 3 unless you don't like spicy food. The spicy has a nice kick which will have you begging for a drink refill. It's not Atomic, but it can linger for a while. The Drumsticks are also good, but I like the ratio of crunch to chicken on the wings and strips better. There's also one near the airport and the food is consistent between the two locations. We've also had the fries and takoyaki and both were good, but the star is the chicken. With the regular order, we got the side of daikon radish which has a nice cooling effect. We didn't get any with the Monday special. I think they have an all you can eat option one day too (maybe Thursday), but check with the restaurant to be sure. read more

I'll get straight to the point. Bonchon's wings are some of the best I've ever had, and I hate to compare, but they're on Domu's level. I think the flavor is a little more tolerable at Bonchon, while the crunch is a little more satisfying at Domu. I call it about a draw. Bonchon is closer and doesn't have 2 hour waits, so if I'm in the mood for wings, I know where to go. Unlike Domu, a lot of other menu options at Bonchon look really appetizing. At Domu, I'll only ever be there for the wings. But at Bonchon, I'm pretty eager to try more than a few things that look and sound really good. The ownership of Bonchon really impressed me. Upon walking in, a manager greeted us, sat us, and gave us a short history lesson about Bonchon and why they're famous. He and his staff were attentive all night and checked in on us frequently. Very cool. One warning: as good as the garlic soy wings are, avoid the spicy wings unless that's your thing. I mean, UNLESS THAT IS YOUR THING, because I found them way too spicy to be enjoyable. I thought I liked spicy foods but these wings are making me rethink life right now. If you really love spicy, then you'll do okay. For the rest of us, excuse my being crass but take caution that the wings are just as spicy coming in as they are going out. You've been warned. I will definitely be back to Bonchon. This was the first time coming to BonChon. Many of my friends recommended this place because of their wings. I was excited to try them out. When I first entered the restaurant there were two tables who had a party of 4 who were looking at menus. I was planning on ordering to go. I saw an area with a menu. I waited for a waiter to greet me, which never happened. I thought maybe they were busy so I decided to order online. My wait time online stated I would have to wait 1hr and 30 minutes. I called the restaurant to see if it would take that long or would it be shorter. He assured me it wouldn't take that long and he would call me when the order was complete. After waiting for 30 minutes with no phone call I decided to go in and check on the order. The two parties from before were paying for their meals. The waiter came with a bag in hand. I took the bag into my car and couldn't wait to eat the wings because of how hungry I was. To my disappointment all of the wings were cold. I went back in and told the waiter about the wings being cold. He went into the kitchen and came out only to blame the kitchen having a brand new worker that placed the wrong box of wings into my bag. He told me I will have to wait longer for them to cook fresh wings. I expressed my frustrations and he did nothing but blame the kitchen and apologize. For the price of the wings and lack of customer service I would not recommend this place. If you want Asian flavored chicken I highly recommend Chi Ken located off of Mills. TL;DR I got horrible service for wings that were subpar. Better to go to Chi Ken located off of Mills. Update 1/18: I contacted BonChon customer service, Lisa Landry has yet to respond. read more

Went to Bon Chon because I saw an Instagram post for a BOGO coupon and being the sucker I am for a BOGO, I thought it couldn't hurt to try this restaurant. The BOGO coupon was for their Japchae menu item and as much as I wish I could say I loved this place, I didn't... Perhaps if I had tried something different I could say different but the Japchae was extremely average. Decent flavor and okay ingredients, but ultimately I felt as if I was only eating a bowl of noodles with little to no meat nor vegetables. Had I not had the BOGO, I would've been extremely dissatisfied to pay 15 dollars for a bowl of noodles but the BOGO definitely softened that pain. I will say the establishment was kept clean and the staff was friendly but this certainly isn't a place I would ever recommend to eat, especially because of the price which is kind of on the high side for what you receive. I certainly applaud Bon Chon for trying to get a larger customer base by trying to bring people with with good deals, but I recommend trying to promote a better item than their Japchae if they want to leave a lasting impression for their customers. read more

I went here on a Thursday afternoon while I was in the area. The place was really empty and I wasn't sure how to perceive that at first. The decor is actually very nice, subtle even. The big thing you want to come here for is the wings. With that being said, I'm sorry to have to burst that bubble! This isn't a wing review! I actually have yet to try them. I vow to return and review those wings if it's the last thing I do! The service was nice. The server was very patient and helpful. Towards the end she did happen to take a little while, but, in her defense she was the only one at the time that was on the work floor. It was happy hour when I arrived so the time was right. Came here for an early lunch (11:30 am) a day before their Grand Opening weekend. I've honestly waited for this location to open since it was announced. I've heard a lot of bad things about the location by MCO so I had high hopes that this place would better represent Florida BUT it's sad to say that it was good but not great... I really wanted it to work out because I've heard so many great things about the out of state locations... Anyway, it was empty but started filling up around 1pm. Our waitress gave off a very indifferent attitude - a bit slow on checking in too... Not a good sign but my friends and I had hopes for the food. We all ordered off of the lunch menu. I ordered the wings that were half soy garlic and half spicy garlic and a side of white rice (yes yes, I eat my chicken with rice). The food took some time but eventually came out after the waitress mixed a couple of orders - this was the last we saw of her until we asked for the check. So, the wings were good but not the best. Mine came out warm with a couple at room temp - another not a good sign, now with chicken... The soy garlic was good but the spicy garlic was definitely the way to go - mental note for next time. It does have a kick which is based off of what my friends said. My tolerance for spice is higher so it was no problem for me. The wings were a bit on the oily side so just a heads up to those who are particular about this - I've just eaten my fair share of KFC and Church's growing up to not be bothered. Overall the food was good. Service was iffy from our waitress BUT great from a waiter who checked back often on the bone buckets, refilled the waters and took away any trash that accumulated. Unfortunately our leftovers were packaged for us in an odd manner. My leftover rice wasn't packaged and my friend's leftover edamame shells were packaged with the uneaten edamame... (this was something we found out after we had left) The waitress dropped off the check without a pen. We managed to catch her attention to ask for a pen and she looked as though it wasn't her problem and that it was our fault - another not good sign... (Total of 5 not goods hence the 3 stars) I'm hoping they get their service and food preparation together and in order (but a brand new restaurant and no customers with this kind of service? This was the first time ordering from Bonchon, which we did through Yelp. We won't do it often, as the fees and gratuity topped 50% of the purchased price! Still, the wings we ordered were delivered promptly, they were fresh and tasty; and, still hot out of the fryer. The wings have an incredible coating, which we just adored... It is thick and crispy without being too filling and doesn't detract from the meat. The sauces are something else too. We loved the Soy Garlic, which is mild; but, the Spicey was really, really, really hot! It's a nice hot, which fades fast; but, just too intense for us to order very often. read more
