I've heard so many great things about the food here... and was fairly excited to try.. The menu was pretty extensive and even had pictures of the food, which is awesome! I nearly drooled over the menu and my indecisive self had great difficulties picking what to order. Finally after much internal debate, I ordered the bulgogi and the salmon avocado ball. So much for that buildup because I left a bit disappointed. Both were simply ok, nothing spectacular especially given the rather exorbitant pricing for the small portion sizes. My boyfriend and I were very excited for a bonchon to open in Orlando. I've had Bonchon from the west coast to the east coast, from california, ny and virginia. This Bonchon is very disappointing. For one, its more costly than those other locations. The chicken wings are smaller. There is minimal to no breading. The drummettes are overcooked so as to almost taste burnt! The flavor is a saltier than other Bonchon locations. This location basically is serving hotwings deep fried with a sauce similar to Bonchons. Other Bonchon locations, the wings are slightly breaded leaving a nice exterior crunch with the chicken still moist underneath. We were really looking forward to Bonchon coming to an area near us but with how disappointing the wings are, we dont know if we can go back. read more

It feels so good to finally find a place during this pandemic to eat that everyone in the establishment is wearing masks and gloves. We gave up looking for places to eat. I'm in here at least once a week, sometimes multiple times a week and have always had a great experience. I've spoken with the assistant manager a few times and he too has been great. Now on 9/16/2018 at 8:30, for some reason the host didn't even greet me when I walked in, just told me to follow him. No big deal. But my family and I sat for 15 minutes with no service, eventually deciding to get up and leave. I glanced over and the host was texting on his phone and I'm legit at the point now where I don't even want to go back. I wouldn't really be bothered if someone would've just acknowledged we were there, duh. But we got nothing. I saw this place on the way out of town a few weeks ago, and had to check it out the next time I was in town. With hurricane Irma bearing down on Florida, I stopped in on a Thursday night for dinner. Other than another pair that were already seated, I was the only one dining there. After reading the reviews prior to mine, I was a bit cautious about eating here. I had not eaten at any other Bonchons before, and this was my first experience at one. I have to say that it was a great experience and the food was awesome. I had the small combo wings/drums in half spicy and half soy garlic. Both tasted amazing and the crispy-ness of the wings were on a whole new level from what I've had before. I have to give the prize to the spicy flavor, it's really good and not really that spicy. I also ordered the bulgogi tacos. They were super tasty and I'd definitely recommend them as well. While I've been to other Bonchon locations, this one was pretty disappointing. The service for one, then two the food itself. Being a huge Korean cuisine fan, I was pretty disappointed with this particular restaurant. I ordered wings while my other half ordered the Bibimap. If you're looking something close that resembles the signature Korean Fried Chicken, I'm going to say Hawkers on Mills Ave and the fabulous DOMU on Corrine Ave has better chicken entrees to offer. The Bibimap was nothing to write home either. Service was disappointing like the waiter didn't want to be there. So that sums up the service. Long story short, go support your local Korean Restaurants. They're more deserving of your love than this place. read more

You've got to try this place chicken wings are off the hook! Now this isn't your typical buffalo-style chicken wing. This is a crispy, moist, flavorful korean-style chicken wing. I can't relate to the negative feedback some people have left on this restaurant as it service was above average, the place was clean, had a good traffic flow coming in and out. Do yourself a favor and give it a try if you're down by the airport. We also had a an appetizer called a Takoyaki. An awesome experience..... we went with our neighbors after they had been there several times. They raved about the wings and numerous other menu items. Bonchon did not disappoint..... the wings were amazing, the fried rice, shrimp shimau, and a few other dishes we ended up sharing among our group. Even the beer Terra, which by the way is Australian, instead we were told it was Korean, was an excellent recommendation. I thoroughly enjoyed our overall experience and will repeat soon. read more

Since it is only their soft opening at the moment there's definitely room for improvement. Food was average, chicken wings were super crispy but way too dry. The seasonings were good on the wings both soy garlic and spicy. Pork buns were mediocre, the bun itself was soft and good but the pork itself was again way too dry. I feel like everything I consumed was over fried. Service was better than I expected but I came during their not so busy hour. Workers seem to be a bit clueless and they don't seem like they belong working there. The food was alright compared to New York. Season fries didn't have much flavor. Takoyakis was pretty good. I would go back but hopefully I have a better experience. Jonathan is a terrible server by the way. Lack of enthusiasm, knowledge of the menu, and attentiveness. "..salmon, crab and other stuff" isn't really a great description for everything. For a place that just opened you should have a better staff. I don't understand why the staff just stand and stare at you while you eat. Even when you need something they just stand there. The fries are however too crispy, they don't taste like potatoes any more. I missed the soft filling inside the fries. The rice cake dish wad also great. Just enough hotness to make me sweat but not making me suffer too much. But since they served the spicy rice cake before the wings, it made the hot wings seemed mild. The service is terrible. We were a party of 5 and it took about an hour to get a table; we enjoyed some drinks at Ari next door while we waited. We ordered the bibimbap, japchae, chicken katsu, tacos, tteokbokki and of course, wings. The orders came out one at a time and it took about an hour and a half for the wings to finally come out. Bibimbap was ok; the rice was slightly undercooked. The rest of the food was good; albeit a bit overpriced. The wings were worth the wait in my opinion. They were hot, juicy, and you could hear the crunch of the batter when you bit in. The only complaint I truly had was about the daikon; it wasn't pickled long enough and had a bitter after taste that was unpleasant. Everyone complains about the wait time but come on! Coming from Tampa we were HIGHLY anticipating trying their version of Korean Fried Chicken. My friends and I ordered the tteokbokki and soy glazed mandu (gyoza/dumpling) as apps. The tteokbokki was just a glob of tteok and cheese, it didn't have the traditional taste of tteokbokki and wasn't as spicy as you would normally expect. Definitely way too much cheese was added and not enough gochukaru or gochujang in the sauce. The soy glazed dumplings were AMAZING, it was such a good choice. Normally you would want to dip a dumpling into a sauce but not these ones, you want to taste every flavor. I, personally, ordered a small order of the boneless Spicy Korean friend chicken. I was expecting what you would eat in Korea but the seasoning was actually more of a Thai chili sauce than a Korean sauce. It wasn't bad, very spicy, just not what was advertised. My friend got the half & half and her soy seasoned wings were DELICIOUS. My other friend also ordered a side order of rice and we were slightly disappointed that it was jasmine rice instead of sticky rice. If anything, I would definitely come back JUST for the soy seasoned items. read more

You can get this style of wings in Orlando at other places, but it's tough. DOMU has similar wings, but you can't get reservations...EVER. So glad Bonchon is here to satisfy My Bimibap, korean tacos, and KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) Cravings. My hubby and I got the deal of 20 wings and two sides for $25.00. We got the fries and onion rings. Fries were on point but I do n ot recommend the onion rings unless you like very thick bready onion rings that will cut and make your mouth bleed. Anyway. My Dad and I came here as we happened to be in the area for a meeting and decided to try something new. The Korean Fried Chicken caught our eye decided to order that. We asked with sauce on the side but the server said that it was against "Company Policy" to give us sauce on the side (Really?) and that the company would "Fire" them on the spot for doing so! Wow! Not sure if that's true but if it is I certainly wouldn't want to work here. The fried chicken was ok and I had the Bulgogi and that was mediocre. Bottomline I wouldn't comeback as the food isn't great especially for the price. I would recommend going to another restaurant in the area as for what you pay here you can get better food for the same price or slightly less. The one thing I can say is that the staff and my server was really nice! We decided to try Bonchon because it was close to our hotel. Bonchon is surrounded by a number of other restaurants; TGI Fridays, Carrabba's, Bonefish Grill, LongHorn Steakhouse, and others. The first thing I noticed about Bonchon when we walked in was that it was virtually empty compared to all of the other restaurants around it which made me a little nervous about eating there. I thought, if it's this empty, there must be a reason. We were seated by the bartender who was very quiet and not very personable. As we were looking over the menu, we immediately noticed how incredibly expensive the chicken wings were!!! Wow!!! They must have pieces of gold embedded in them!!! We had come for the wings but opted for the shrimp shumai, the potstickers, and the chicken bonchon wrap. The potstickers were extremely over fried and had virtually no flavor aside from the small amount of sauce on them. The shrimp shumai was pretty much the same. We held out hope for the chicken bonchon wrap, but it was pretty much flavorless as well and was desperately crying out for some salt just to make it feel like it had some flavor you could taste. We had barely finished our food and the bartender was already clearing our dishes away in what felt like an attempt to get rid of us as if the restaurant was trying to close or something. Nope, still 55 minutes till closing time. We left Bonchon looking in the windows at the crowds in all of the other restaurants wishing we had gone to one of them for dinner instead. We realized there was a reason they were all full and Bonchon was so empty. I give Bonchon a year at the most before the crowds at the other restaurants put Bonchon out of business. read more

I have been here many times before. I walked in around 6 PM and it took the staff 15 to even acknowledge that I was there. I was by myself and sat down at the bar. After 15 minutes the server showed up and told me that it would take 35 to 40 minutes for a single serving of the fried chicken. There were only three tables that were occupied in the entire restaurant at that moment. Very frustrated with the experience and I did not have time to wait.
