Parking can be rough so we had to park two streets down and walk over. The store is nice and big and there's plenty of tables. There weren't too many other customers when we ate so service was super quick. Ordered the bulgogi fries, sotteok sotteok, mixed chicken, boneless chicken, tteokbuki. Everything was delicious. The bulgogi fries are a must. Fries were super crispy on the outside and loaded. The tteokbuki was very basic and nothing special to it. Their chicken is nice and crispy and moist inside. Their sauces are delicious as well. I liked the yangyeom the best.
I've visited multiple locations, and this one stands out because it stays open later than most. They also offer a great Monday and Tuesday special with $1 wings. We ordered the drumsticks, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sauces added flavor without being overpowering, One of my favorites is still the bulgogi fries--they're consistently delicious and always a must-order. Overall, a great spot for late-night cravings, tasty wings, and satisfying shareable dishes.
Tried Bonchon on Conway Street for the first time and it definitely lived up to the hype! Our waitress recommended the wings, so I ordered the 10-piece wings and drumettes with two flavors: soy garlic and Yangnyeom. Both were absolutely delicious, super crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and a really good amount of chicken on the order. The soy garlic had the perfect savory flavor, and the Yangnyeom brought a great spicy kick. I also got a side of white rice with the meal which balanced out the spice perfectly. Overall, a 10/10 experience and I'll definitely be back! UPDATE - I went back again the next day for the same order
Tucked away in a small strip mall, this spot can be a bit tricky when it comes to parking. Inside, there's plenty of seating, but you'll need to wait to be seated, which feels a little out of place for such a casual setting. The experience might run more smoothly if they offered counter ordering with open seating. As for the food, it's solid but not particularly memorable. The fries are your standard seasoned beer-battered style--crispy, but lacking originality. The chicken sandwich had good flavor and was the highlight of the meal, though it wasn't enough to truly stand out overall. In the end, it's a decent option, but not one that strongly pulls me back for another visit.
One of my favorite spots for a quick meal when you don't want to spend a lot of money. I've been coming here for their Monday/Tuesday $1 wing deals and $2 Sapporo happy hour. The vibes in here are great, with friendly, quick service as well as a lively ambience with upbeat music. There are many flavors to choose from and I tend to stick with the yangnyeom flavor, which combines sweet, savory, and spicy Korean taste into a sauce. Their wings are very crispy and tender. We also got the bulgogi fries and potstickers, which offered a nice contrast with its soft filling. The best part of the fries was the spicy/creamy mayo that paired well with the savory bulgogi.
The Monday and Tuesday $1 wings is so awesome. There's a 15 wing limit, but that's more than enough. That being said, the wings were so good. I felt like the skin stayed crispy despite the sauciness of the wings. And I'm not going to lie, the french fries hit HAHA. We came in kind of late, so I appreciate the quick service and good service at that, despite us being there until just before closing. There's lots of seating inside and the vibe is very chill. Whether you're there hanging out, watching the game, or just catching up with friends. A great place to eat.
Convoy has no shortage of great food, but this spot definitely earned a return visit from me. We came across their dine-in combo deal for $40 that includes wings, bites, and a dish, and honestly it felt like a steal for the amount of food we got. The wings came tossed in soy garlic and they were fantastic. Korean fried chicken just crisps differently and this place nailed it. Perfect crunch on the outside and juicy inside. Something about that style of fry just hits. For the bites we chose potstickers, and they actually let us toss them in one of the wing sauces which was such a cool way to try another flavor. We went with yangnyeom and it had a really nice kick. I love spicy food so that was a pleasant surprise. I ended up dipping my soy garlic wings into the extra yangnyeom sauce from the potstickers and wow... that combo was incredible. The wings also came with coleslaw which balanced out all the fried goodness perfectly. They even give you a bucket for your chicken bones, which is such a small but thoughtful touch that keeps the table clean. Our dish was Japchae, which was a great addition to round out the meal. Service was also on point. The wings came out hot and crispy, and they even gave us wipes with the check which was super appreciated after demolishing a pile of wings. Overall this was a fantastic meal and a great deal. Easy 5 stars and I can't wait to come back.
With shrinkflation robbing us daily and everything costing an arm and a leg, hearing about $1 wings felt unreal. The deal is dine in only, max 15 wings per person, and only on Mondays and Tuesdays. Bonchon is located in the Convoy Pointe Plaza and that parking lot is a nightmare. We went on a Monday around 7PM and the lot was completely full. People were parking a couple blocks away and walking. After circling for about 20 minutes we finally found a spot. Inside, it was vibrant and packed. We were lucky enough to grab the last open table. The party behind us waited about 10 more minutes, so expect a little wait. We were handed menus right away, but for the next 20 minutes no one came by. No water, no drink order, nothing. On a busy promo night I get that amazing service is hard, but a little attentiveness would have been nice. $1 wing deal. The flavors included Soy Garlic, Spicy, Yangnyeom, Korean BBQ, and Classic Crunch. I ordered 5 Classic Crunch wings with pickled radish and a side of spicy mayo. My partner got 10 wings, half Spicy and half Soy Garlic. We also ordered the sotteok sotteok for $2.99, which is a Korean street food skewer with chewy rice cakes and sausage coated in yangnyeom sauce. Our food came out about 15 minutes later and we finally got water. Everything smelled amazing. The wings overall were super crispy and held their sauce well. The soy garlic was my favorite. Balanced and flavorful. The spicy was extremely hot but still enjoyable if you can handle heat. The Classic Crunch had a great exterior but was way too salty. I was glad I ordered spicy mayo to balance it out. For $1 though, they are solid. Good meat, juicy inside, and fried well. The pickled radish was disappointing. It had the crunch, but it lacked that sharp acidic sweetness you usually expect. It tasted under brined and flat. The sotteok sotteok was pretty good. Chewy rice cakes, juicy sausage, and that garlicky yangnyeom sauce. I honestly wish I ordered another one. I can see myself coming back on Mondays or Tuesdays for the deal and the vibe, but probably not on a regular day. There are better wing spots, but for $1, it's hard to complain too much.
This is Bonchon's OG location in the SD area as it opened in the Convoy Pointe Plaza Shopping Center several years ago. The internal corner suite they occupy is not the most optimal spot especially with the notoriously jammed parking lot. They used to have long lines for dining in, but now the tables were well spaced apart with less seating capacity. I think it's because most of their revenue was coming from takeout and third-party delivery orders. During my recent visit, just three other parties were seated. A special menu card listed a Bacon x Kimchi collaboration with three items. The regular menu featured Korean fried chicken in the form of wings, drumsticks, strips, and boneless with small, medium, and large quantities available. You choose a type, quantity, sauce, and small side for an order. A variety of Bonchon bites (appetizers) appeared on the other side of the menu. I selected the Bacon Kimchi Stir-Fry Udon from the special collab menu and a small (10 pc) order of soy garlic wings with pickled radishes. Both items arrived simultaneously after about a 15-minute preparation time. The first was made up of wheat noodles stir-fried with bacon, pork belly, kimchi, and onions. A soy garlic and spicy sauce was used to flavor the mix which had a mild heat level. The wings were hand battered, double fried, and hand brushed with the soy garlic sauce I picked. I recall that the wings were light and crunchy when I first tried them years ago. This time the batter seemed heavier and overcooked. I am uncertain if they changed their formula, but I wasn't as impressed as before. The fact that they charged less than two dollars per wing was positive and why I rounded my rating up to a four star level.
Come here on Mondays or Tuesdays for $1 wings! It's a super good deal and the wings are Korean style deliciousness. They also have $5 draft Sapporo beers after 9pm. I think this special is everyday. The service is fast but they're super busy on wing special days. However they are bussin their butts to make sure you get your wings! There are TVs so you can enjoy your favorite sports while having wings. I recommend soy garlic for savory or Yangnyeom if you like some spice. Their other items are good, but just stay with the wings and you won't go wrong.
My kids loved the bulgogi fries here! We intentionally came on a Monday so that it's cheaper. Mon and tues is 1$ wings. Otherwise korean chicken wings are just too expensive! We got the Korean, soy, fire, and the new flavor yangyeom. I think my favorite is fire but its not spicy at all. My kids opted for the korean feast. You get to choose 1 from each category. They chose 6 wings with 3 drum sticks, bulgogi fries, and the tteokbokki. They enjoyed all of it and its 40$ i think its a good deal. The inside is nice and big but their beer on tap tastes weird. The service was so great bc my server forgot my beer. I had to ask for it a second time. All in all, we will definitely come again!
Hands down the best Korean chicken spot in San Diego: especially for their happy hour wing nights on Monday and Tuesday (dine-in)! The wings are perfectly crunchy, double-fried to golden perfection, and bursting with flavor. The soy garlic easily my favorite: savory, slightly sweet, and absolutely addictive. The ambience was just right: music at a comfortable level, lighting that gives a nice night-time vibe, and plenty of TVs showing different things. My husband and I didn't pay much attention to the screens though: we were too busy enjoying good conversation and amazing food. Our server, Michaela, made the experience even better. She took the time to ask our names, gave us rubber bands when our to-go container broke, and overall made us feel genuinely welcome: it felt like home. If you're looking for a go-to spot for Korean wings, this is it. Great food, great service, and a chill atmosphere that makes you want to come back every week (which we have apparently!)
Love it here. Staff is always the nicest and honestly I think we've come so much on Tuesdays that they're starting to remember us. Got the $1 wings for the max amount and barely finished them but they were all delicious. We always come at a good time where it isn't busy and the food is always hot.

The Good: Love their spicy wings. Very flavorful and crispy. Definitely has a kick if you are into spicy food. The Bad: The Soy Garlic was a bit weak and did not have enough flavor. The Ugly: The tteokbokki was the biggest disappointment. Not spicy at all with very little flavor. Ricecakes were still hard too. I do not recommend this dish. Overall, their spicy wings are great for a party or large gathering but I would still go to Cross Street for my KFC fix because they have a lot more flavors to choose from. read more
This is another Korean fried chicken place that's on convoy street. Compared to the other one, it's not as good. However, I did like their spicy flavor and how crunchy their skin was. It was really hard to get a hold of them on the phone to order so we went into order. We also tried online and that did not work either. It was about 30 min wait when we got there. The restaurant is big inside but due to COVID, only take outs. Also when you check in with yelp, you get free can of soda. One thing I liked was that they have the combo option where you can get wings and drumsticks and can get mix of flavors. You do get a large coleslaw or the radish for free but when we got the radish, it did not taste fresh. I think I would their spicy chicken again. read more

Came in here for their anniversary special. Dollar wings! They were quite busy and luckily we arrived before the closed at 2pm. Waited about 30 mins or so and food took an extra 15 minutes. We ordered 16 wings (soy garlic, spicy and sweet crunchy) and garlic fries. Loved the spicy and soy garlic but not a fan of sweet crunchy, just too surgery. Make sure to ask for spicy mayo even though it's an extra dollar, so worth it. Service was good . Star off for the super small and really tight parking . Highly recommend not coming here on a Saturday like I did. They also offer catering! 100 wings for $110 read more

Was on my way to have lunch at Cross Street Chicken but for some reason wanted to try a new place and happened on Bonchon. I was thrill they had seating on the sidewalk so that was the main reason I stayed to eat. I ordered the lunch special of 8 pieces of chicken. It took about 15 minutes to get the food but was totally fine because I was having a beer while waiting. The fried chicken was super crispy, flaky, and juicy on the inside. The sauce was half spicy and half garlic. Both were delicious!!! I liked it because it wasn't heavily sauced like other Korean chicken places. Y'all, Bonchon is so good. Their fried chicken is on another level. Their chicken is so crispy because they deep fry it twice! All of the flavors are good without being too overwhelming. The taste of the chicken comes through still and it is delicious. The Spicy flavor chicken has a nice kick to it, but isn't too spicy. It's like a 6 or 7 out of 10 in terms of spice! Definitely my favorite of the three flavors. The Sweet Crunch flavor is reminiscent of orange chicken in its sweetness. It was pretty good! The Soy Garlic was a nice blend of sweet and savory. I also am a fan of their japchae, which is a Korean glass noodle stir fry, as well as their kimchee bacon fried rice. Fried chicken isn't even one of my favorite foods, but Bonchon just hits the mark every time. read more

Came here for the first time and i can definitely say that their fried chicken is top 5 out of the fried chicken places that i started. I tried their garlic and spicy chicken with the mixed chicken order (wings and drums). The garlic chicken was good but the spicy one was where it was at. It had a little kick to it which was nice. Their fried chicken has a great crunch and flavor coating to it. I also ate their pork bun tacos which was good and had a nice chunk of pork in it. Its really the bun that makes the dish good but nonetheless it was still good. My least favorite dish was the kimchi bacon fried rice. It had a nice flavor profile to it, but for me it just had to many diced vegetables in it. I highly recommend that you try this gem of a place out... read more

I'd never heard of this place, but just say fried chicken and I am down to try it! It was about lunchtime on a Wednesday and the place wasn't too busy. Between the 6 of us, we got the large (qty = 24) order of wings--half soy garlic and half spicy. We also ordered the japchae and then ended up getting a medium order of wings--same flavors. Unfortunately, they don't cater to gluten-free diets and one of my friends has Celiac disease, so she only got an order of fries. That was a bummer. Otherwise, the chicken wings were very flavorful and wonderfully crunchy. The spicy wings really have a kick to them, so be forewarned. I like the pickled radishes that came with it because they were very refreshing inbetween mouthfuls of fried goodness. The japchae was fine. Nothing special as far as I can tell, but good. I'm very satisfied with the service we received. We were greeted as soon as we arrived outside. Once we were seated, our server promptly brought water to the table and took our order. The servers came back to check on us after we received our food and also refilled our waters at least twice during our meal. Overall, I like the dining experience here. We all--well, except for my gluten-free friend, left with full, happy bellies. I like the texture of the chicken wings and the strong Asian flavors. We just came back from a trip to Seoul and I fell in love with kimchi and Korean fried chicken. I can find both here. We came on a Thursday night and it was busy but we got a table right away. We tried kimchi bacon fried rice, pork bao tacos (per the waiters recommendation) and some Korean fried chicken. The first time we came we had bone in wings. They were half garlic soy and half spicy. The second time we came we had boneless and just soy garlic. I much prefer bone in but tried boneless bc my boyfriend prefers it. I told him next time, no dice. Always order the radish instead of coleslaw and wash it done with a Hite beer. We will be back! read more

I love Korean fried chicken!!! Before that fried chicken was not one of my favorite foods. Bonchon has the best Korean fried chicken I've ever tasted! It's super crunchy and tasty without having to be drenched in too much sauce like at other restaurants. They have good lunch and daily specials. Every Thursday is an all day Happy Hour! But be sure to arrive early because by lunch time, they were already running out of certain draft beers. read more

My favorite app to order is the spicy potstickers. They're spicy, sweet & not sticky. Hands down I think it's the best appetizer on the menu! Our server was wonderful, friendly and attentive. Oh boy- hate giving two stars but here it is. I've never had chicken wings that I really disliked. Came on a weekday lunch and the place wasn't very clean.. floors had all kinds of junk and there were only like four tables filled.. we ordered the soy garlic and maybe this is the way they make their wings I don't know- it was our first time here.. the skin was like hardened or glazed honey or sugar or something. Everytime we bit into the chicken, the skin would break off! It was so weird. It wasn't the kind of crunchy or crispy that you wanted chicken to be. Flavor was also awful.. It was so hard to eat them :( I really liked that they give you a lot of radish though. Parking is terrible in this mall as you already know. read more

Its like getting a 89.99% on ur math final grade and u just missed one most important question... Its not the korean sweet n spicy ur looking foward to taste. We came on a Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and it wasn't busy yet. We've been coming here since it opened and our chicken wings were always crispy dine in or take out. We also had the beef bulgogi and plain fried rice. In the past previous fried rice orders came out greasy, but not today. It was perfect. We've also had orders of japchae noodles in the past that were too sugary and greasy. As for the pork buns, they're okay. I would pass only because the meat is too greasy or fatty for my taste. The takoyaki, it's hard to eat one here especially when you've had the real one in Japan. The Tteokbokki is soft and tender which means it's fresh. I love there's a crispy seaweed roll on top. I just wish there's more. However there's no option for the level of spiciness. It's same way for the chicken. I like spicy food, but it was too spicy for me. Overall, my friends and family are big fans. Great food and great service. Soy garlic chicken has been consistently delicious and crispy and most of all not too sweet. This is a mixed review for me, because while I did like the taste of the chicken wings, the service left a lot to be desired. We came here last week with friends visiting from out of town. We'd been wanting to try Bonchon ever since they came to San Diego, and my husband loves chicken wings. We ordered the signature fried chicken wings - medium sized, so it came with 16 wings. We got them half spicy and half soy garlic for me and my husband to share between us. I am not a spicy fan, so I was content with the soy garlic. I also ordered the salmon avocado ball from the asian fusion side of the menu. Other yelpers are correct - don't order anything other than the fried chicken here. The salmon avocado ball was meh... not worth it, and I wouldn't order it again. The wings were tasty and breaded with panko bread crumbs. What killed the experience was the lackluster service. Our friends ordered plain fried rice for their young son, and it never came - instead, an order of french fries arrived at our table. The young waitress apparently didn't understand or somehow mixed up "rice" with "fries" when they were ordering. When the rice did finally come (at the end of our meal when we were nearly done eating), it wasn't plain! It was chicken fried rice. It just caused more of an inconvenience to remove that charge from our bill and take the order back. If I ever come back here again I'll wait for another location to open closer to North County. read more

I came here in a group of 9 on a Saturday evening and we were seated within a few minutes despite not having a reservation. Although this place is known for its chicken wings, I ordered the spicy chicken bibimbap. The meal was a lot spicier than than we expected, but delicious none the less. The dish was basically rice served with a medley of veggies and sautéed chicken. It was fairly large and we were able to share it between two people. My meal also came with a bibimbap sauce packet (also added additional heat) which I really enjoyed and thought was a nice touch. Something I enjoyed was waiting a little bit for the rice to crisp at the bottom of the stone bowl - it added a delicious crunch to the texture. Parking in the complex was a struggle (especially considering the time we showed up at), but nearby streets and complexes had space! read more
