I knew this place was expensive so I pushed my cravings for it deep down in my subconscious for over a year after someone introduced me to it. I should have maintained my abstinence from this place. So when the food is good it's great but I think I have them pegged now that I've read the reviews and had an experience of my own. I ordered 20 piece wings and japchae. The wings were good. Until I got past the top layer in the box and realized they just used a handful of wings to conceal the dry old drumsticks they gave me in the majority of the box. Shady. The japchae was lackluster at best. I had to drench it in hot and soy sauce to make it tase like something and the veggies in it were old and sad. Now I didn't have the same long wait or rude service as others have reported but I think there's a reason for that. I called in my order and picked it up a little after 3pm and it was dead. Which is why my food was ready promptly but because I didn't have to wait for my food I didn't get fresh food. So if your going to eat here my recommendation would be, call your food in during or immediately after a lunch or dinner rush. When you do that don't be surprised if the staff is rude because they are under pressure. Or you could just boycott it like I'll be doing because I'm not much of a gambler and $50 for maybe good food is a little steep for me. read more

The food is delicious. I placed a to go order and the woman was very impatient and seemed annoyed. I know she was overwhelmed with the amount of people in the restaurant, but her customer service was very poor and seemed very impatient with me. I had to grab my own menu instead of being offered one when I informed her I was going to place a to go order. Only good for the chicken. I came here twice. First time, we only got chicken. It was pretty good and they checked on our table often. And the pickled daikon was awesome. That was about a week and a half ago. Today, we showed up around 4:45 and was seated promptly and the restaurant was empty. But then we were told that they actually weren't serving until 5pm. He said that they would put in our orders right away. I was confused but I let it slide. FOOD: Our food came right before 5. First we had our calamari, which was pretty good it was tossed in soy garlic sauce but there was some random pieces of other food in our food. Or uncooked pieces idk. Our chicken came second, we order the large 30 piece half spicy half soy garlic sauce. It came with pickled daikon. This time, the pickled daikon had a funky flavor to it. I can't explain it. It was one of those smells when you go into a weird aisle in the Asian store. Chicken was good. Next dish was the chicken katsu. Boy, I am so disappointed I expected it to taste yummy. But I got 2 shredded pieces of steamed carrots and LITERALLY 3 tony pieces of steamed broccoli. The steamed "veggies" also had that funky taste and smell. Like it was next to something in a fridge. The katsu was very "sour" it seemed like it had a lot of vinegar. I definitely will not order it again. My friend ordered bibimbap which was kind of bland and subpar. The spicy chicken tacos were pretty good but messy. SERVICE: The service today was pretty bad. Not only with the confusion of not being actually open until 5 but they hardly checked our table. We ran out of napkins quickly. And our glasses of water weren't filled as often as last time. I had to flag down a waitress after another table near me just to get a root beer. Toward the end we waited about 15 minutes for someone to come by and give us our refills, which we needed from spicy wings and our check. When I asked one of the waitresses for our check she seemed annoyed. And it took awhile for her to come by with the check. Another waitress came by and we told her we were just waiting on our check (which she already had). We asked for boxes for our rice dishes and they brought us the boxes with paper for the chicken. BUT WE HAD NO CHICKEN LEFT. We actually didn't know they had a different box for the other food because apparently we are kind of dumb. I can't explain it, the service just wasn't on point today. I think I will hold off on coming for a little while until the hype dies down. PS I'm here trying to eat my friends left over bibimbap and I'm getting soggy paper in my rice. Came here with friends last week as we were super excited to finally try this place! We all ordered the beef bibimbap along with the 6 piece fried chicken, seasoned fries and the takoyaki. First of all, the chicken was delicious! Crunchy and a punch of flavor which is only thing that hold me back from giving this place a terrible rating. Takoyaki was good. But the bibimbap was a disappointment. We are avid korean food eaters and compared to the other 2 places in stockton that serve bibimbap, this was just bland. Meat gets lost among the huge rice portion and we kept adding the hot sauce hoping the flavors would somehow appear but we just flat out struggled. Fries were lacking flavor and dry on the inside. Other than that our waitress was nice. Service was okay. I was not happy where my $30 went. Walked out unsatisfied and wishing i was at my go to spot. I eagerly awaited the opening of this new Korean spot in Stockton and I avoided the first month to let them get their feet set. Partner and I went last night and I am sorry to say that it is unfortunately not very good. The food itself is nothing special. We tried a little of everything. Between the two of us, we had Japchae, Korean tacos, the spicy chicken tenders, calamari, and the potstickers. The Korean tacos were the best, followed by the chicken tenders. But you can't screw any of those up. The rest was below standard. The Korean food truck in town makes better Japchae. The japchae had very little and very poor quality meat and little to no flavor. The calamari and potstickers were overdone and tasted as if they were previously frozen. The chicken tenders were tasty but that is the easiest dish to make. The tacos were overpriced at 13.00 for three. The service was bad as well. There really is no one dedicated to the bar counter. Beer is not cold and they struggle to open a bottle of wine. With so much potential and so much hope we all have for a really good Korean BBQ and Korean food, this place should really be better. read more

I usually don't like writing reviews. Especially about taste and service due to it being so subjective. But felt like I had to write one today. I placed a Togo order for ddukboki and fried chicken. He said no problem it will be ready for pick up in 35 minutes. I came around 45 minutes and right off the bat. You can see how disorganized it is. Nobody in the front to direct the customer to where to go. Once I finally made eye contact with a server that just standing by the wall. He directed me I'm assuming the manager behind the counter. I told them my order and name and hmm he forgot to place the order. He said he will put it priority so as I'm waiting at the bar. I see the waiter throwing garbage behind the bar. Wtf really? And now I see why people complain about the staff. The staff just place an order and they just go to the back to wait for the wings. Granted a few goes back and ask to see if everything is ok but you can tell there's no directions or leadership. Hopefully they will get all the kinks out soon. Btw lower the air conditioning. I came in at 12:34 and ordered my food. They told me 20-25 minutes so I left and came back after 15. When I came back, they asked me if I needed to be seated. I told them I already ordered and was waiting for my take out. 1pm comes and we ask about our order, and it turns out it has been sitting on the counter for who knows how long. We complained and was informed that the manager was cooking and couldn't help us. I don't know if that was the servers lie to get out of trouble or if that really what the boss was doing. I believe the manager should've done their job managing and keeping the place running smoothly instead of cooking. The place was unorganized, the servers were all over the place. I was excited to see a Bonchon pop up in Stockton so me and a friend decided to give it a go. The interior was pretty nice and clean, however, the table wasn't really sturdy since it was shaking a bit as we leaned in to eat. We got an assortment of big drumsticks and small ones that came with wings as well. It was pretty decent but not as great compared to previous Korean fried chicken restaurants I've gone to where the portion was larger and cheaper, but realistically speaking Bonchon is overpriced. Since Stockton does not have a lot of KFC restaurants Bonchon is an ok place to dine. For ratings, I would give it a 3.8/5. read more

Our waitress was super woman and by that I meant she took care of most of the tables, the front, and was able to check up on multiple occasions. High five for her! One star docked off because our chicken wings had only 4/10 wings... and the rest were drum sticks. The batter was ok and it was fried perfectly crisp. I have to say that these wings are pretty amazing. In my opinion, the outside of the wings were perfectly crispy. I like how there is a good mixture of drumsticks and flats (it was a plus that the flat was the whole wing of the chicken). Both flavors, spicy and soy garlic, were delicious and the spicy was actually spicy which is always a plus. The potstickers were also a good starter. The kimchi was okay, but since it wasn't a focal point of the dish, it didn't effect my review. The customer service was good!
