I do not think I'll order from this location again. We ordered both wings and boneless wings for take out. The wings were alright, but the boneless wings were inedible. I know that it says everything is double fried for extra crispiness, but I think our food was refried over again to heat up, or maybe they had been sitting in the warming oven for a long time. We could not bite into most of them. They should be called chicken jerky. Some of the wings also were also burnt, but at least some were edible. It was totally disappointing. read more

First of all, the food here was up to par with the extreme deliciousness of other locations I've been to. I see some negative reviews here and can just imagine it may have taken a couple weeks to get fully up and running. However compelled to write this as a big Thank You to the servers and staff working yesterday. We stopped in for dinner before a movie and had lots leftover, in addition to chicken, two seafood meals (very tasty popcorn shrimp and a rice/seafood thing that was very good) we feared would not last a few hours in the hot car. Not only did they agree to hold it for us, when I didn't make it back until after closing they paused cleaning and came right up to the door with my food. It definitely different from the one in Brighton. The strips are breaded chicken nuggets. I ordered a wrap thinking it was going to be the same strips like the Brighton one and what I got was a lettuce wraps with avocado that is brown and 2 chicken nuggets cut up. I've been at this location twice so far and to be honest the BonChon in Allston is so much better in service, they're so much faster. I couldn't find the phone number online to order so I went in and placed my order for take out, which was simple order of just fried pickles and a small order of wings I waited there for almost 45 minutes, the chicken was on the drier side not as good as the one in Allston. Today, February 11th 2022. I placed an online order and when I picked it up I decided to dine in, the restaurant was pretty empty so why not? Once I opened the food, the cashier in a rude way told me that I can't dine in and without a reason kicked me out of the restaurant all this happed aggressively and rudely in front of other customers. I felt so bad because I'm paying for food for a place where I every week order food even when I'm traveling to another state always bonchon is my first option for lunch or dinner. I asked him to get refunded for the food because I won't spend my money in this company anymore due to this issue I won't back to bonchon in the rest of my life and I'll take care of none of my circle friends and family will order food in this place anymore. He didn't refund me the money without a reason just saying that I opened the food. I didn't eat the food so I need the money back to my bank account ASAP. This was beyond bearing. read more

Food is great - but delivery is mediocre. Of the five times we have ordered there three times the order we received has been wrong. Tonight they forgot half our order via grub hub. Talked to someone there and they kept reading me the wrong order saying it was ours and I kept saying that is not our order. Ended up hanging up and dealing with grub hub direct who gave a full refund. Will probably order there again and do it this whole rigamarole again because the chicken is good and i am a sucker. read more

They rescheduled the time two times and never offered neither explanation, nor apology. Some people were waiting there for 45 minutes and in response to the question why such long waiting time the lady at the register had only to say "I'm not the chef here". Stay away! This Bonchon is horrible and is completely different from the Allston location. I have dined in and ordered take out multiple times and each time is a let down. Some servers have a great attitude but the manager's attitude is HORRIBLE. Instead of diffusing the situation, she makes it worse and has an "I don't care" ignorant attitude the whole time. We always order half-and-half spicy and soy garlic wings, and a fried rice dish to share. Their wings are our favorite -- crispy skin, delicious sauce (the spicy is SPICY), and the food is always ready on time. Great place! I live two blocks away and come here a few times a week. Usually take out but I have dined in a few times during soft opening. I always get the drumsticks or wings and those have always been very, very solid, very addictive and delicious, hence why I come here multiple times a week. The only time I was slightly disappointed was when the wings were smaller but they gave me more so it was same amount of chicken in the end as normal size drummies. They always have very sweet service and greet with a friendly smile! I also like the space they set up, modern and clean. It took us like five minutes to be seated although no other guests are waiting, and it took even longer to even get our water. Ordered a combo, the wings are really small and the drumsticks are uncooked in the middle. Also we ordered a fried rice cake and it is almost cold when it's on our table. Surprisingly they brought our check quite fast and the calculated tip amount is higher than it should be. We never had issues with our orders at other Bonchon locations. It seems that the management at this location is not up to the task. I had a very different experience than many of these other reviews. My food did come out faster than the thirty minutes that the menu warned about, but I can't say it suffered for it. The outside was crispy and delicious, the meat was nice and tender. Service was fast, attentive, and friendly. I got the combo of wings and drumsticks, half at garlic, half spicy. I was warned about the heat level of the spicy sauce. It didn't seem particularly hot to me, but I have a pretty high tolerance, and I thought it had an enjoyable kick. Anyway, very happy with my experience here, and I hope this is a sign that things have improved significantly read more

Typically, we would order from the Allston location which was great, but traffic and parking were the usual disaster. Once I heard an outlet was opening in Waltham, we were excited to try it out. I waited a while for the new location to settle in and work out the startup kinks before I reviewed them. We've been there at least half a dozen times and they never fail to disappoint. The people are super friendly, but this is clearly not the same as Allston. Quality, taste, all that are waaaaay below standard. The price is way above standard though. To top it off, wait times are at least double Allston's. I've ordered pickup from Allston on Saturday nights with the line out the door and it's rarely more than 20 minutes. Last night, I ordered pickup in Waltham and it was over 45 minutes. Yes, I know, first world problems. But, there was absolutely nobody in the restaurant at the time. Every time it's like this. All around terrible experience. I never post Yelp reviews and am generally easy to please but this Bonchon location really made me go against my "morals." 1. Horrible service, waitress actually seemed irritated to be serving our party of two. 2. Food quality is overpriced and significantly worse than other locations. The wings seem smaller as well as dry and overcooked. For some reason they decided to mix quinoa into the Bibimbop which is not a great combination to say the least. Either management needs to be changed or a total upheaval of their menu/service. I do not plan on returning to this location. read more

We ordered food from this place today 5/18/2020. The manager her name was Jamie was the rudest person you could ever meet. We spent over $150 there. First of all the order we got was not what we ordered. My sister first called over the phone to let her know the order was wrong Jamie the manager told my sister that there's nothing they can do about it. I hadn't seen my food yet at this point. I opened the my food. 1. it wasn't cooked 2. The chicken had no sauce on it. This lady had the audacity to tell me to drive over 30 mins to return the food back to her and she called the cops because we were black. She took my money and the food back. WORSE BONCHON location I have eaten from. Do not waste your money. If I could give it "0" stars I would. Spent nearly $40 on take out chicken and regretting every bite. I don't like to waste food and will eat even food with poor flavor to avoid tossing food. However, this chicken ( ordered half-and-half drumsticks with their spicy and new honey flavor), is sooo bad, I will have to break this cardinal rule. The chicken is not just flavorless, it's flavorless with a strong hint of "being fried in really old oil". They also seem to ration their popular sauces, so please expect that all your chicken will come out half or not-at-all coated in sauce. Overall, you end up with stale, un-sauced chicken that you could probably have made better with half the cost. read more

3 stars on average here makes sense. Atmosphere and service was great nice people clean place. The food is just ehh nothing that made me want to keep eating until I couldn't breathe. The rice didn't have much flavor could've used more sauce. The Korean fried wing and drumstick was good but couldn't eat more then 3-4 pieces. The chicken is always cold. Why does this location have boneless wings and not strips like the others? The boneless wings are basically rocks. Went here for dinner the other night, and all I can say is meh. The chicken was good, that was the only saving grace. The servers seemed either bored or miserable. We got the japchae and bulgogi. I have ordered take out twice from here. Both times got their signature chicken wings-soy flavored. And side of Cole slaw. Both times Cole slaw flavorless, needs seasoning. The wings were also flavorless. I actually threw out half my order. The weird part is this same order at Bonchon in Cambridge is wonderful and there's never any leftovers. Overpriced and way too much breading...dont understand the hype...dont waste your money

Now I've worked in the restaurant industry before and I know how the kitchen works. I recently placed an order with this Bonchon and they got my order incorrect. When I called them to tell them that they did and I wanted a refund on my medium they did not want to refund me of all my money, they only wanted to give me a small when I ordered a medium. They told me if I did not want this that "they don't care" it was either get the small store credit or bring the chicken that they gave me back. And what are you going to do with that chicken? Is it not a violation to take back this food that was already in my possession, that I have touched with my hands? The manager spoke so rudely on the phone I have never witness customer service like this is my life. I've ordered from the one in Allston and they gave me the chicken that I loved. I ordered soy garlic strips. I wanted the same without going all the way there so I ordered from the Waltham place. I said medium soy garlic STRIPS. She repeated back to me "ok boneless wings" so again I said strips and she said the same thing. I pick it up and I'm VERY disappointed. They tasted awful, they were basically tiny nuggets and weren't crispy at all. Next time I'm going to Allston. Stick with the same recipe as the other store. Total waste of money. read more

Don't bother. Went on a Tuesday night. Only customer in restaurant. Was looking forward to it as this location is closer to me than Allston. On the plus side, decor is bright and clean. First of all, I have been to the Bonchon in Boston, and Lowell. Our family really liked them. Therefore, when we found out that there is one to be opened in Waltham, we were all excited, especially my 9 and 11 years old kids. Today, we finally went, guess what, VERY DISAPPOINTED, the portions were so small, ended up we went home and cooked some instant noodles. We ordered that same dishes as we always ordered from Boston and Lowell, chicken wings, fried rice and udon noodles. The chicken wings were so small, about 3/4 size as the other locations, the fried rice, omg, I thought that was a Korean side dish, that was about 1/3 of the size of other locations. I talked to the waiter about this (I knew that was not his fault), I wanted him to relay the message to the management. He came back and said that the management said that their portion are as per the corporate guideline, as the portions from other locations were not following the corporate guideline, they may need to report to corporate about their (other locations) wrong doing. The price of the rice was $11.95, the portion was about the size for my 9 years old's lunch portion. As far as the taste is concerned, they were not as good as the other two locations either. Do yourself a favor and save your time and money. Before I begin, let me note that I absolutely LOVE BonChon. The food and drinks are so good. The chicken is out of this world. Why then did I give it 1 star? Quite simply, this location sucks. Although I have visited other locations and have been satisfied, I read the reviews to get a general feel, and I still decided to visit. Bad idea. The food portions were for toddlers I think. Not even half of what the other locations served, but for the same price. To make matters worse, the food came out cold. Entrees came out before appetizers. I can keep going but I'll just spare you such details. Just save your time and money. If you really want to experience BonChon, drive to a different location. You're welcome. read more
