Some friends invited my wife and I out for dinner to this place known for its chicken and Korean food. I found parking on the road in front of the restaurant without issue. We started off with appetizers of Edamame and Takoyaki (fried octopus) which all thought were good. The Takoyaki was interesting in that it moved, not because it was alive but due to a reaction of the oil or something with the air. We ordered the chicken combo for the four of us with a mix of wings and drumsticks, hot and mild flavors. The hot had some kick but not so much that it was overwhelming and did make you want more after a few minutes in-between pieces. We tried the bulgogi tacos that came as a set of three and were pretty good but not as good as the chicken. Later in the week some co-workers mentioned a desire to go so it would seem that it's a popular place for chicken. The service was good and the decor of the restaurant was scattered with tv's displaying the NFL games of the day. It was quiet enough that we were able to talk and be heard. Met a friend visiting from Hawaii on the recommendation from another friend from D.C. The pictures and reviews appeared positive. The wings were some of the best I have had in a while. They were nearly the size of my fist, the perfect amount of crispiness, and the perfect complement of heat and sweet. The Bulgogi Tacos were also amazing. Overflowing with meat and toppings. I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. My friends ordered two other dishes and said they were great as well. To top it off, I ordered a lychee vodka drink, which was also pleasant and fresh. I'm giving 3 stars today because the salmon avocado ball was just ok. It was only ok because the crabmeat was imitation and I'm allergic to that stuff. I ate around the crabmeat, which is as the salmon and some cucumbers, and that part, while not enough to write home about, it was good. Now I came for the wings! I live a block away, so we frequent this location. That's probably going to slow down or stop. The food is amazing. Really just amazing. But that's where it ends. Top to bottom, front to back, host to manager, the service here just sucks. Stood at the front forever waiting for a seat, no one to be found. Waited on a partial drink order. Waited on appetizers, asked about them. Two of 4 entrees arrive, ask about the rest. Two more entrees. Ask for napkins and silverware (never got any to start) Appetizers finally arrive, ask again about silverware. Chicken to share finally arrives, but its the wrong kind. Silverware arrives. Server removes rice, then brings it back. Manager stops by, offers to take appetizers off bill while deciding to put his hand on one of our party and then walks away when questioned about it. Bill gets dropped off, we ask the server about the late, wrong chicken still being om the bill - he doesn't care. Like I said, frequent guest, probably won't eat in the restaurant anymore, will just do take out because the food is that good. $25 decision by management will cost a lot. read more

This is my favorite in the DC area since it's close to the ballpark and after hours, it's the most central location that my friends who ride the Metro can get to. Food is the same as all the other places, but I like the fact it has a decent size bar and a dining area. I like the fact that they have a Happy Hour menu, which I've taken advantage of. read more

Ordered the medium order of wings half and half. They tasted pretty good. I liked the soy garlic, although slightly too salty, better than the other flavor. It is crunchy but I've had crunchier Korean wings. The Pork Baos was delicious. Pork belly melted in your mouth and had crunch. Husband loved the bulgogi tacos. The udon soup was tasty, although does not taste like the typical dashi stock but I'm not mad at it. Tteokbokki was really good. Cheese was nicely melted and stringy, yummm. I didn't care for the 2 fried things on the plate though. Overall great experience and service. We'd come back. Portions were perfect. Bathrooms was clean. I have never gotten an order that was not pipping hot. The fries are great. The sauce options are both amazing. Food wise there is really nothing not to like. It is pricey. 19 bucks for wing dings and fries is a lot. I always carry out so I can't comment on the in house service. My to-go service has been pretty standard. Because of the current COVID-19 crises, I've only done DoorDash delivery. I've done it quite a bit because quite frankly, I'm pretty much addicted to Bonchon's absolutely delicious menu. I usually get the boneless chicken strips with soy sauce. Sometimes I get half soy and half spicy. The first time I tasted this; oh my! Truly the best thing I've ever tasted. Also, the Kimchi Coleslaw and seasoned fries are quite delicious as well. I can't get enough of Bonchon's food. We discovered this place from other yelpers during our July 4th visit to D.C. Great location just walking distance from our hotel. The service was excellent and the wings were delicious, not greasy at all yet very crispy. The environment was nice and clean. I don't usually write bad reviews but needed to call this disappointing experience out today. We usually go for happy hour at this location, however, we won't be returning again. We sit at our table and ask for menus, the manager says "use the barcode on the table to access the menu" and my gf politely says "we would like physical menus" before she says why (we are paying cash) he cuts her off and rolls his eyes and raises his voice "it's 2023" while proceeding to walk 2 feet to get the menus. After that we walk out of the restaurant. I'm not sure why a manager of all people thinks this is how to treat customers. His disregard for basic customer service is appalling. Customer service in 2023 is a lost art and frankly I'm not surprised they got this moron working at this establishment having no earthly idea how to treat his customers. Maybe he'd understand one day that it's important for good customer service especially in the food and beverage industry. Not sure why bonchon is hiring a-holes to run the restaurant, seems like a poor business decision. Their food is decent but the customer service from the top is terrible. Be better. read more

I love the korean style double fried chicken but today's experience was just disappointing. I asked if I could have extra sauce/glaze because I like to mix my rice in it. The server said no as they "brush the fried chicken with the perfect amount of glaze." Came at an early lunch time to avoid the rush and when ordered, server said food would come out in 15 min. We waited 40 minutes. And when the food came out, the sauce was definitely scarce and definitely tasted less spicy than usual. Currently, my go to wing spot in the Navy Yard area. I like to get the ten piece with half Soy Garlic and half of the Hot. The hot is fairly hot for me, but my friend who likes to drink Mad Dog 357 seems to think the hot are not hot AT ALL. (I get it, Brandon, you eat hot sauce for fun!) I eat the hot first so that I can relax my tongue with the tasty soy garlic and radish on the second half of the meal. Be careful if you're on a diet, the wings are high in calories. This place is perfect for a beer or lunch, and I LOVE the Salmon Ball for an appetizer. The chicken sandwiches are yum, but the meat is a little tougher than I prefer (Chick-fil-A has spoiled me). I haven't had a bad experience or a bad meal here. Totally worth it if you're looking for some wings and you don't need a loud BWW atmosphere. read more

I love Bonchon! The fried rice and fries are so good and the double fried chicken is so crisp and perfect and I can eat it for every meal. I always get the soy garlic sauce which I wish was a bit less salty but it's still good nonetheless. My other issue is I can't get the chicken naked, sometimes a girl just doesn't want sauce. Customers must do it themselves through their app. It took 10 mins after sitting down at the bar, with the place less than half full, & plenty of staff (3 bartenders) before I figured out how to place my own order into the system, instead of a server, & for that drink to be brought to me. I wanted a double Bacardi & coke but didn't see a way to do that in the app so I ordered 2 drinks. I wanted to have my order to go, but there was no way to do that in the app. Also the app asks you to tip before you've received any service, so you have no basis of the service performance to base your tip on. Digital menus are fine, but me as a customer doing the work of entering my own order instead of the server & no one asking me when I sit at the bar what I'd like to drink to get started makes for a bad dining experience. read more
