This visit has been a disappointment. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and decided to go out for a nice dinner. I made a reservation for 5:45 PM. When we arrived they stated the dining room is reserved for a private event and seating is only available in the private dining area or the bar. I wish that was mentioned on the site when I made the reservation. The private dining area had dead gnats in window seal and on the table. The server was not very responsive. We had to wait several minutes to order drinks and several minutes to receive the check. I use to really like this place but unfortunately this may be my last visit. read more

The food at Bonefish Grill is delicious from my prior experiences. However, more recently their customer service is horrible!!! I was planning on having a birthday day celebratory dinner at their establishment. I spoke to three different people and received three different responses. 1) I called a month in a half in advance to determine if they could accommodate my potential group size and the parameters of deposit, contract, etc. I was initially told they could accommodate my party size and I would only need to call back to reserve a few weeks before the planned event. 2) I called 3 weeks prior to my event and was now told my party size was too large and it would require private dining. I was then instructed to send an email so I did so. Please note I NEVER received a response from the event coordinator to confirm whether or not my date was available or any details for that matter. 3) I called again and this time I was told they typically don't allow private events on weekends. All of this could have been communicated with the delay avoided weeks ago. This behavior reflects how unprofessional and inconsiderate they are. I previously rave about this establishment but they have now lost a customer because of their poor patronage. I will tell anyone who listens to avoid spending your money with them as they don't care. I had planned an event for 20 people so they missed out from a financial aspect. I truly understand if they couldn't accommodate a group of this size or even if the date wasn't available. I was really looking forward to a very nice dinner. That didn't happen. I had reservations but showed up 30 minutes early. I was prepared to wait but they seated me right away. I sat and sat and sat. Eventually the hostess came over with water and lukewarm bread and asked if I wanted anything else until my server was available. I ordered a drink from the bar. I sat and sat and sat. At this point I'm ready to leave. The server behind me was doing an amazing job checking on his table. I started to think he was my server and ignoring me. He eventually came to my table and said my server was caught in traffic so he will take care of me until she arrives. He was extremely nice. I gave him a cash tip just for going the extra mile. He took my order and eventually my food showed up. While I was sitting there a server came in and started helping tables in the area. This person did not come to my table. I'm getting more disappointed as I sit there. My entree came and was not very good. I was ready to go but who do I tell? I go to the hostess stand and asked for my check. The hostess said your server will bring the check. I said ma'am, I DONT have a server. The guy who was helping out came up and said he told them he would just keep the table. We love coming here and usually have the best service. We got there early and NO ONE was at the bar where we sat. The bar tender took our order and didn't even deliver it, she wasn't talkative nor polite when we asked for a glass with my beer or we needed sugar. The food was good as always but not the service. I visited Bonefish Grill for the first time today and really enjoyed parts of the experience, though there are areas that could be improved. The highlight of my meal was the sea bass -- cooked and seasoned perfectly, easily the best thing I tried. Some of the sides were flavorful and satisfying (a little heavy on butter and cheese, but delicious nonetheless), though the asparagus was unfortunately overcooked. Food came out quickly, which is great for efficiency, but pacing could be adjusted a bit to give guests more time to enjoy their drinks and conversation. Our server was friendly and kind, though service felt a little stretched at times, especially considering the restaurant wasn't very busy. I also tried ordering my favorite cocktail (the menu suggests asking for it), but they weren't able to make it, which was surprising given it's a fairly standard drink. Where the experience really fell apart was the cleanliness. At first glance the dining room looked fine, but once I noticed the ceiling tiles and vents, it was impossible to unsee. The vents were covered in dust, the ceiling tiles were stained and dirty. The tables were covered in paper reminiscent of that place you go at 3AM. For a restaurant that presents itself as upscale, this level of neglect is inexcusable. If the front of house looks like that, it makes you wonder what the kitchen must look like -- and that's not a thought you should have while trying to enjoy dinner. The food had some great moments, but the lack of cleanliness overshadowed it all. Until that's addressed, I'd have a hard time recommending this location. read more

I did an online order for personal pickup parked in the space provide for curbside pickup and called in, they said they were still working on my order 20 minutes later I called back in they said how it's an uber pick up and I need to come inside. It was a beer and miso-marinated cod with citrusy notes undercut by that perfect, PERFECT miso umami, served on a bed of jasmine rice and sautéed spinach. The fish was tender and flaky, but the rice...was undercooked. Shout out to our waiter (Charlie)! He recommended the crisp potatoes + garlic aioli as a replacement - it was excellent! Perfectly crisp exterior with buttery soft insides; the aioli was just the right amount of "garlicky". If you're not a fan of cilantro look away ! Server was great on 8/23 at 2pm for a 97th birthday celebration: however, the corn chowder lump crab soup was mediocre and the bang bang shrimps were NOT banging.... Also, the chair's fabric is peeling on numerous chairs, which does not fit the ambiance and elegant atmosphere I have experienced numerous times before. Had a wonderful first time experience at Bonefish! Came in on a Wednesday night at 7pm with a friend and were seated at one of the high top bar tables right away. Our server Laurie was great and the service was fast and efficient. The complimentary bread with the pesto dipping sauce was so yummy! Being a vegetarian, I was a tad concerned about the options given this being a restaurant known for their seafood but they were very accommodating. They can do all their salads without the protein and any of the signature sides a la carte. I got a full size of the Bonefish House salad without shrimp and a side of the broccoli and jasmine rice. Everything was delicious! My friend got the Bang Bang Shrimp app as a main course and she loved it. Prices were reasonable given the portion sizes. Normally I just come for the bang-bang shrimp. On this visit the kung pao brussel sprouts caught my eye. They weren't bad, could have been more crispy and had more flavor. The first clue of a downward spiral is the drink menu is as big as the food menu. Gone are many old favorites. I ordered cod supreme. It was done nicely although a little overcooked. I tasted it and didn't particularly care for the flavor, although it was VERY tender. My grilled chicken was moist but it arrived without the lemon butter sauce flavor. I then asked for a side of chimichurra; tasty but strong. The garlic mashed potatoes were fine. Very small serving, which was surprising. We will definitely be back. Next time I'll try the hamburger and pineapple martini. Sides are heavy on carbs; garlic mashed potatoes , rice, french fries. Server suggested we NOT order the green beans (the featured seasonal vegetable). The only other option was cole slaw. My wife and I come to Bonefish just about every other Friday night for the relaxing date-night ambiance. We always sit at the bar or in the bar area. The bartenders are great, especially Sean. Last Friday, our Server Kurt was especially helpful and engaging. The bar area is quiet enough to enjoy great conversation even when its full. We would rather eat at Bonefish rather than Bristol's whose entire service and food quality is old and tired. Need I mention overpriced. Bonefish offers consistently good food at a fair price. If your expectation is a coastal fish restaurant (with coastal pricing), you will be disappointed. If you are looking for an upscale casual intimate place to take your wife or partner, have a great time along with good/great offerings, you cannot beat Bonefish in St. Louis. It just felt clumsy, the service I mean. Stuff being dropped by the waiters as they cleaned off tables. The waiter asking "how is everything," while you in the middle of a conversation. Bread and seasoned olive oil were presented, no butter or Parmesan cheese to be found. Entrees included grilled shrimp and scallops with mango sauce, jasmine rice and Mexican street corn and Dbl Lobster tails with jasmine rice and upgraded to bacon Mac and cheese. Service and entrees were excellent. We were seated at a table for four in the middle of the room and the lighting was quite dim and the candle did very little to help. It was comfortable and spacious. Was a bit disappointed when we asked for the Mac and cheese to go they put a box on the table and walked away. A restaurant of this caliber should be wrapping leftovers for you. Our bill for two people was 114.00 dollars, we had a coupon for 30.00 dollars off and enjoyed ourselves.
