Sooooo I like Bonefish but this review is going to be based solely on their Sips and Sampling events. Every now and then, Bonefish will send an email inviting customers to an "exclusive sampling" of excellent menu items for only $25 per person. Every single time I've gotten one of these emails, the RSVPs fill up so fast that I'm outta luck...except this time! Tonight my husband and I attended. The food was good but this was certainly not the bargain we thought. First of all it's community seating so you're either lucky enough to get a booth and HOPE that a stranger doesn't sit with you (if you're an introvert like me) or you sit at the long bar high tops with a bunch of new faces to make friends. Neither make me ecstatic. Let's talk about price. $25 per person for 4 samples & 2 drinks is an awesome deal...until you realize that ALL the food and drink that you are getting is already on their happy hour menu for even less than what they're charging for this package deal. Seriously. The drinks were $5 during happy hour (total $20) and the small plates were $6 (total $24) so essentially we overpaid by $6 AND had to come at a ridiculously early dinner time when we could've just casually come during happy hour for a BETTER deal. The only time the Sips & Sampling would be beneficial is if you are attending alone, in which you'd receive $34 worth of food/drink for the $25 price tag. Oh Bonefish. I was so disappointed. I know you can do better. We show up for our 5pm dinner reservation and we cannot be seated because your short staffed. Okay, I get that. I don't mind sitting in the bar. So we sit at a high top in the bar. Bailey was our server. She was very friendly and informative. Our Bang Bang Shrimp was mostly dry, very little sauce. For our entree's, my partner ordered the linguine special, he liked that. I ordered crab cakes. What a disappointment. They came out of the kitchen looking more like two scoops of ice cream than two crab cake. Big, round blobs of crab cake mix plopped on a plate and they were barely warm inside. I barely ate one. I took the second one home so I could fry it up on my stove the next day. We ordered the Key Lime Cake for dessert. The waitress warned us it was cake and not pie. Okay, we'll try it. OMG, it's so dry and huge amounts of frosting in the layers. Not worth a second bite. The only part I liked was the whipped cream. Comes on Bonefish.....you can do better. read more

The range of consistency of the food at this location could not be more extreme. We ate there last month and both of us returned our food and we were not charged. The quality and quantity were horrible. Yesterday we went and ordered the exact same thing and the food was extraordinary! If you want to keep your patrons, you need to be consistent! We had the worst experience at bonefish grill. We sat at the bar, because we wanted a couple cocktails and an appetizer. The two bartenders working, kept talking about personal things with some of the other customers. we had to keep interrupting them, to ask for refills, napkins, and the check. Bang bang shrimp is delicious, and they know it. So now there are tacos, yum! I always love the shrimp. They also have a surprisingly good house salad that has hearts of palm in it. Recently we ordered delivery and it was just ok, but I think that was partially due to the vendor. During the pandemic they are offering "family bundles" -- at least I didn't think that was a thing until now.. I could be wrong! They're nice. For two people it can last for about four separate meals depending on your appetite. If you have a big appetite then let's say 3 or 3.5 meals. We ordered the bundle with wood grilled shrimp, broccoli, 2 loaves of bread, 4 cookies, and it's supposed to come with house salad but unfortunately didn't reach us (we were refunded). I thought it was a pretty good deal, and may order again. Although next time, I think I'll just pick it up myself. read more

Had a party of 6 this past Saturday night, waited once seated approx. 15 minutes before I went to hostess stand to express we had not been recognize byWait Staff. Waiter came by and gotour drink order, five minutes later 2 additional beers came to the table. We told the server that they were not ours He express can you drink them ? waiter expressed there on the house, of course we said yes. Ten minutes later he came back as we started drinking the beers and stated his Manager stated I have to cheated you for those beers, our food came and I had the grouper special with crabmeat topping and the portion size was maybe 2 to 3 ounce portion. I've been coming here to this location for years and always enjoy it. Not today though. Service was ok. The restaurant was mostly empty, at normal dinner time on a Sunday, which was very unusual. Ordered the parmesan crusted trout, which I've had several times before. It had no basil, almost no sauce, the tail was still on, the skin was mushy, and it just was not good. The mac and cheese was great though. Also ordered the crab cake appetizer since I wasn't going to eat the trout. It was ok, not great. It was mushy and didn't hold together very well. Tried my friend's Mexican street corn - it was great. Was really disappointed that the non-seafood things were the best things at a seafood restaurant. Went there January 13 on a whim haven't been in a while. Good reason too. Service was very good but drinks and food were subpar. Out of grouper which is why I went, out of tuna sushimi . I ordered pork tenderloin with lemon picatta but nothing could help this dish. Even the presentation was poor. Took one bite and said no way. My husband ordered seafood stuffed cod, he said it would have been good if it was hot and the fries were cold and limp. I wondered why it took so long for dinner to come out as the plates probably sat there for 15 minutes before arriving at my table. You can't catch a buzz off the drinks either, my husband ordered makers on the rocks it was a one ounce pour in a ten ounce glass... ridiculous. The salad was lame one thing I hate is cheap iceberg lettuce should have been romaine or spring mix. I live close by but not going back grill smith blows them away. read more

We ordered and when the food came, the order was incorrect. So the waitress told us that it was due to a kitchen error. So we waited 25 minutes for the order, and the waitress returned and asked how everything was, we said we were still waiting for our food. Food never arrived. My husband and I went to Bonefish last night. I ordered calamari which I have order many times over the years that we have gone to Bonefish. I should have taken a picture of it but unfortunately I didn't. I mentioned to the waiter that it was ridiculous he wanted to know if we wanted to take it off our bill that wasn't the point I have never seen such small calamari. My family and I came here for lunch today at 1:15 and they were completely dead. The chef was literally sitting in a booth and when we were sat at our table, he got up and walked to the kitchen. Meanwhile, all the staff was just leaning on the walls and just staring into the empty restaurant. Only one table was being occupied. My husband and I brought our 2 kids and our food literally came out about 50 min later. Our server brought out my husbands meal first along with my oldest daughter. About 5 min later my order came out, then another 5 minutes my youngest daughter's food came out and all she ordered was bacon and breakfast potatoes?! Two of our meals had hair in it and at this time, we have already been there awhile and it would have been no use even telling anybody because to refire our food would take even longer. Just completely unacceptable and no wonder why this place is dead on a Sunday (when they are continuously promoting brunch through my email). We've been to this restaurant several times and never disappoints! We always call ahead and rarely have to wait long to be seated. The host is also friendly and welcoming. The drinks are delicious and the food is on point! For the first time we tried their Brussels sprouts and we will definitely pay the extra few bucks to have them again. They were chargrilled, with pieces of ham and a white sauce on top. One of the bests we have ever had!! And because we were celebrating my birthday, we had an email for a free dessert. Thee WORST dinner I've ever had. The bill was $114 mind you. Had delivery through Uber Eats. The delivery was fine, prompt. The food? Absolutely HORRIBLE. Ordered 2 sides of cauliflower ($4.50 each) and received NEITHER. The salmon (cedar plank salmon) was extremely dry. The salmon was supposed to come with vegetables, which were NOT included. Ordered the kids "Fish Sticks" and fries, and literally got ONE fish stick and a kids-handful size of fries (counted, and there were 15 fries). Ordered the chicken and shrimp, and not only was the chicken so dry I could only choke down 2 bites, the shrimp were also dried out (how do you dry out shrimp?) We just finished a fabulous dinner at Bonefish. The bang bang shrimp, blackened salmon with pasta, and the shrimp and scallop skewers were absolutely delicious. Our server (Jessica) was delightful and made sure we had everything that we wanted, without hovering. When it came to dessert, we took her suggestion of the Key Lime Cake. OMG to die for. My husband and I both became immediately addicted to the sweet and tart delight. Would definitely have again. I would give this location a 4 star but because the service has been unsatisfactory for the last two visits, I'm giving them a 3 star. Food was good, however, service was very slow. Maybe there is a staff shortage but management needs to staff accordingly on Weekend nights. Their specials are always great but disappointed when they "run" of it by 8pm when they close at 11pm. We met some family members at this Bonefish lately and had a memorable time. We have a Bonefish in Brandon where we live but forget about it for some reason. Our meal in Clearwater made us reconsider that. My husband had the Chicken & Shrimp which he said was great (he ate everything) I had the Lillys Chicken which is my normal choice and once again it was delicious. Our server Stacey A was phenomenal (she used to be a manager) and we had a delightful conversation with her. We may not make the trip to Clearwater again but will go to Bonefish in Brandon again soon. read more

My daughter and grand daughters came over to color Easter eggs today so I ordered the salmon family meal with mashed potatoes and caesar salad. The food was ready right on time and they delivered it to the car. Everything was delicious and we will have some leftovers for tomorrow. They even threw in some chocolate chip cookies. Normally a very good restaurant but the most recent time I went was not up to snuff. I got the rainbow trout and my girlfriend got a chicken breast. All the sides and stuff were good enough to normal standards, but both the trout and the chicken were a little overcooked/ dry. Consistent place to get a bite to eat. Usually only go for their bang bang shrimp and drinks. I don't think I have found anywhere else that had bang bang as good as theirs. Well! Had gotten a gift card to Bonefish Grill. Decided to try it tonight, 8/6/23. Checked a number of reviews which were very mixed. Have never been to a Bonefish Grill before, as hubby and I usually prefer stand alone, original restaurants to any chains. Anyway, arrived Sunday evening about 5:30 at Clearwater location. Located in a strip mall off NcMullen Booth Rd. Was moderately busy, with a mix of families and couples. Decent decor, and waitstaff dressed in nice white "waiter style" jackets. Seated right away in a requested booth. Kudos to our great waitress, Lydia, who was helpful, attentive, and a real pleasure to deal with! Service was slow, which we didn't mind, as we like to enjoy the evening out with no pressure. I started w a glass of wine- a Pinot Grigio for 8.50. They had a social hour menu w house wine for 6.00, but no Pinot Grigio available. Hubby had root beer. Positives: delicious bread, served w a nice garlic, herb, olive oil dipping sauce. Tried their new item- lightly breaded and fried green beans, with a Thai chili sauce dip and a ranch dip. Like the chili sauce dip by far. Pretty good, but were served on an oil soaked piece of paper. A little too oily. Shared a small house salad w hubby- very good! Fresh lettuce w a few Kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, pepitas, and hearts of palm, w a nice light citrus dressing. Very good! Negatives: downhill from there! Hubby order crispy fried shrimp and fries. Fries were decent. Shrimp way over battered, dry and seemed pre frozen, I ordered the Atlantic salmon w the mango salsa and garlic mashed. Fish was soo pale, didn't even look fresh and deep pink like salmon should, way overcooked, salsa not flavorful. Tiny scoop of garlic mashed cold and inedible. Barely at fish. When we were ordering from our female person, was very impatient with my mother-in-law as she doesn't hear real well, partially due to the noise in the lounge. Due to the fact that we are in Florida, I would hope and pray for a little grace from the servers in the area as most of the clientele are in their 70s or 80s After ordering, we never saw our waiter until we were finished . The food was brought to us by a runner. And by the way, the food was good. She never asked once how our first bites were or offered any refills on our drinks . Also, no one asked if we'd like a cup of coffee after dinner or a cordial or if we'd like to see the dessert menu..... I spoke to the manager, Bill, who was very personable, and he said he would make it right for us ... after at least a 20 or 30 minute wait, Bill came by with our check, very nice that he took 50% off the bill. I hope in the future that other customers will have better treatment. I'm not a smarty, or wise guy. I would like to be treated well and have others treated well in the future. You can't be on top of your trade all of the time, but you could at least be nice. (that message was directed to Mr. Host, who thought it best to provide a snarky response to my party's inquiry as to how much time was remaining in our wait for a two top table.) Mind you - this inquiry came only after we had been waiting for upwards of 45 minutes. Me: "Excuse me sir, my friend and I were wondering about how much longer it would be before our table is ready?" His response: "There are still ten minutes left in the time that I quoted you". He originally quoted us 50 minutes but assured us that it would probably be more like 40 minutes or "even sooner". Well after waiting a SOLID 45 minutes, and noticing that the large crowd waiting had thinned out to the point of disappearing, I thought it pretty appropriate to check in and see where we were on "the list". Well, apparently there isn't a list. It's just a hypothetical list of names with approximate wait times. But being the complicit person that I tend to be in uncomfortable situations such as this one, I sat back down. Oh and as it would turn out, our buzzer didn't even work! So more than likely, we were called for our table but they just skipped over us since our buzzer didn't alert us. The rest of the evening was fine. Just fine. Our server was pleasant and prompt. We shared the Bang Bang Shrimp - it was as delicious as it is every time. We both subbed one of our dinner sides for a salad. The caesar salad that I had was good, and we did our best NOT to fill up on the bread (you've been warned - it's an easy mistake to make, as the pesto dipping sauce is hard to resist)! I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass (a first for me) and our server was nice enough to bring out her top 3 accompaniments for me to try with the fish. The Lemon Butter and Pan Asian sauce did not taste nearly as good as the Lime Tomato Garlic sauce! The Sea Bass was cooked perfectly; a solid 6 ounces was plenty of food (hungry people can choose the larger portion for a bit of an upcharge); Overall, I was pleased with my entree selection - the sea bass is a nice meaty fish, just as described! Apart from the weird interaction at the beginning of our night, our dining experience was just fine at this location. It was a busy Friday night, so stress levels are sure to be high - but those should be confined to employees/management. The host/hostess is the first encounter you have at almost any restaurant and ours was not a pleasant one. Luckily, the rest of the restaurant seems to have it together. read more

We have not been to Bonefish Grill for at least 10 years. Decided to celebrate with the family tonight. Had a wonderful meal with wife and daughter. Had heard a lot about bang bang shrimp and it was delightful. Service was out of this world and the food was fantastic. This is not a place we will go to often because the prices are high. The dining room is pleasant and the atmosphere is what you would expect for a nice restaurant. Just sorry we waited 10 years to return. read more

We used to come here all the time and stopped due to change in menu for example: They stopped providing salad with entree and everything seemed to go downhill. Well we decided to come back after many years. The waiter was awesome! They had NO wild fish available or alternatives like gluten free options or alt. milks for coffee. So decided to get espresso and that was not available due to machine broken. Yikes..... then go to the bathroom and was super dusty and had cob webs in the corners. Gross. We won't be back. Where oh where has my bonefish gone So we have been to bonefish 50 plus times over the years We had not been back in sometime and had friends in town so we went Lets see where so I start: Reservation- we get there and they say they are behind and it will be a bit- we are a party of 4 and I there aree no less than 3 tables available. We wait 20 min(same 3 tables are empty and now 2 more are open) walk up to the hostess to ask what is going on and ask if it short staff as all these tables have been open. No response. She then pauses for a.minute and grabs the menus and we get seated. No server for about 15 minutes. We grab someone walking by to tell them. Sara our server comes to our table and she is overwhelmed. She was kind and did a great job considering the fact that the restaurant is so understaffed. So the remainder of the night...no bread ever brought, steak was well done(shoe leather and was supposed to be medium and nominal bussing. The only saving grace was our server. Thank you Sara for working so hard in such a difficult environment. Bonefish management needs to figure it out. So sad to say such a top notch restaurant is lost. read more

My friend and I stopped by early Friday evening to take advantage of their Happy Hour specials. We sat at the high top tables next to the bar. After waiting 20 minutes, no one came over to greet us or give us menus. It was busy with lots of older people but they had a full staff of waiters. I saw many waiters walking around the restuarant but no one stopped to check up on us. Thus, we decided to leave because it seemed like Bonefish didn't want our business anyways. Tough, undercooked broccoli. Tough, overcooked lobster tail with little meat in it (makes you wonder if they buy the cheaper, soft shell "shedders" to save money). Little booze in a $12 drink. Thank you for the generous portion of three grape tomatoes in the entree salad. I particularly loved the (seemingly reconstituted) dry garlic mashed potatoes served in the shape of the scoop they came out of the pot in, just like my school cafeteria used to serve them. The chocolate lava cake that seems to have come right out of the same box I can buy at the supermarket next door for considerably less and heat in a microwave. Service was good but the place was empty. No wonder because the menu is becoming more and more limited and the food more and more subpar.
