I tried calling in and placing an order and it took the 6th time calling to finally get through and not get ignored. Then was told to hold and didn't answer after 10 minutes of holding. We were out in this area for a competition at San Jac College so my hubby and kids and I tried Bonfire Wings for lunch. I was a little nervous at first because the shopping center looks a little sketchy, but the interior of the restaurant is cute; very Louisiana backwoods. Love the Zydeco music playing. I remember circa 2002 Bonfire wings...before the owners split and what now appears to be new owners altogether. The customer service of the young Hispanic girls at register is absolutely terrible and leave a lot to desire. Wait time for pick orders is rarely accurate. The only thing that has remained consistent is the taste. However, I am at the stage in my life where friendly customer service is important where I spend my hard earned money. Food is great but trying to place a phone order is like trying to win the LOTTO its not happening! As soon as they answer they put you on hold for 5 minutes and the call drops. I've called 3x and was in the restaurant line to place my order and when she finally answered my call. Bonfire has been a staple in the community for a while now. Over the years the quality in whoever is preparing those wings have gone down all from a service standpoint. I like their flavors and that the combo comes with the boudin balls. The prices have increased since last year so be aware. The service is just ok. When you call in an order, they do not make the order until you get there and pay for the meal. I have been several times asking for crisy wings and fries. I was told everytime that they are busy so they can not make the wings and fries crispy. Since when do a business get too busy to give the customer what they want? Again, this is not once or twice. Me and my partner live across the street and we came here for wings. We ordered lemon pepper wings, boudin, fries, and gumbo. Everything was really good but it was pretty pricey for the amount of food we got and it took longer than it should have for our food to come out. It was very noisy, I would not want to dine-in here. I absolutely love their wings. I always order the bonfire special, that consist of 10 wings(flavor of your choice), fries(crispy) and two boudin balls. I usually go to the one on 45N, but this one was closer to me on this particular day. I called my order in and asked how long would it take, the lady that took my order told me 5 minutes. I get there 10 minutes later and I walked up to the counter and told them I had a call-in order, gave her my name and I paid. So I'm thinking she's about to turn around and grab my order since she told me 5 minutes, but I ended up waiting 10-15 minutes for my food and my fries want crispy like I ordered. I have been reading the reviews about Bonfire wings going on just about a year. I have been telling myself that I need to make time to go and try this place out. Well Friday was the day that it finally happened. I ordered myself the Bonfire special which comes with 10 wings, 2 boudin balls, celery/carrots and fries. I ordered the Jamaican Jerk and Mojo wings as my flavor. I opted to get the seasoning on the fries as well for additional flavor. My boy got the Bourbon special which comes with 10 wings, fries and celery/carrots. They say the Original is way spicier then the Original or hot wings you get from the "other place" I.E. Wingstop or BWW. They are not hotter but do have a better taste. Now don't be fooled by the celery and carrots being included. If you are like me and love celery and carrot then make sure you ask for extra or your will be disappointed. Why you ask??? Well they literally give you one piece of celery and one piece of carrot. The ranch dressing is a nit watery but since I took my order to go I had plenty of the Hidden Valley dressing at the casa. Now, the drive home seemed to take forever, but only because the smell of the food was making me hungry. I have ordered take out before from the other guys and I had no problem waiting on getting home to eat. The aroma omitting from the bag was hypnotizing. I couldn't wait until I got home, but first let's go over the customer service. I called in my order to go because I wanted the order to be ready when I got there. I didn't want to have to wait 30 minutes or longer on a to go order the way I have to wait when I order to go from BWW. The young lady I spoke with on the phone was very polite and patient. She knew the menu and when I had a question to about a special she was able to answer it without missing a beat. She was very professional and courteous. When she told me my order would be ready in 10 minutes I was skeptical because the other places always took 30 - 40 minutes then when you would get there it would be another 20 before you were attended to. I arrived at the place and when I walked in the place was very clean and nice. The place had a good vibe to it and was not overbearing with music and TV's blaring like BWW where you can't even hear yourself think. You could actually talk to the people at the counter and hear them. They have 2 people attending the, to go orders and 2 other people assisting them. I arrived and was greeted by 2 lovely ladies working the front counter. They spoke English... Believe it or not real English... Yes sir no sir the whole bit. No hood talk, No slang, No mispronunciation of any kind. Real English!!!!! They attended my in a timely professional manner. I was so happy when I left that place I was smiling from ear to ear. Now back to the flavoring of the food. I arrived at home and immediately dove into the food. The Jamaican Jerk was perfect. You could tell the food was fresh... It tasted awesome... It was Sweet and spicy the way I like it. The Mojo wings were a kind of a dry rub but they had a mild kick to them which was good. The original was more than Original flavor it had a nice tangy flavor to them. Unfortunately the fries missed the target.... They were fresh cut fries with a nice seasoning on them... They didn't survive the trip home.. They were soggy and lost the freshness... I'm sure if you eat them at the restaurant they would be delicious.. The boudin balls were very, very flavorful. After reading the reviews we decided to give this wing spot a try. The menu isn't to complicated with combos, it's pretty straight forward. They have multiple options for sauces and a few dry rubs. We got 2 combos of the 10 wings, seasoned fries and 2 Boudain balls. We got bbq and lemon pepper rub. The BBQ had a good flavor and was enjoyed by both of us. I didn't know the lemon pepper was a rub and was disappointed when I got the wings. The Boudain balls were really good and cheesy! The wings were more meat than breading which really won us over. I also got a side of their Mango Habanero sauce which was 3rd from the hottest. It wasn't hot at all and just had a tangy taste. It seemed like honey was their base because it was a glaze like sauce.
