We decided on BBQ chicken wings, house salad, and a St.Louis thin crust supreme pizza for the table. It didn't take long to get our food. Delicious Pizza, and wings! Hubby found this place on yelp and decided this was where we were going for dinner. He definitely picked a hidden gem. This place is a well loved, family owned Pizzeria. They decorated their walls with STL sports memorabilia and combination of their family pictures.They have plenty of seating inside (limited seating on the pizzeria side, but ample seating inside the bar) and a small patio with a few tables and chairs.There is a full service bar on the other-side. We ordered a STL style sausage and bacon pizza. It was absolutely delicious. The pizza sauce wasn't too sweet and very flavorful, and there was no need to ask for extra sauce. The crunch of the crust was just right. The wings were my favorite. We got them tavern style. They were cooked just right, slightly crunchy, but yet tender. I heard this place has one of the best Chicago deep dish pizza in the area so I had to check them out. I will have to say their deep dish was a solid strong choice. The service was not bad but keep in mind there is limited seating space in the dining area unless you go to their bar area to eat. However, on a comfortable weather day you could sit on the patio. This is a definite recommend if you like the deep dish style but keep in mind there is only one size (10in) but for the price point you could buy more. I also had the house salad and it was good too, and it appears they may make their own house dressing which my wife enjoyed. This feels like a good spot to go to if you could take off early to eat and watch a Cardinals game. The sport memorabilia was cool and even noticed an old sign from Sportsman's Park in the dining area. read more

I moved back into St Louis Hills a few years ago and immediately began looking into local pizza delivery options. One I hit on was Bono's on Hampton. I tried delivery around 5 or more times and it was never consistent good or bad but I decided to take my daughter there for dinner last month. The meal was not anything to recommend. The pizza crust certainly appeared to be standard bought pizza shells, the kind with perfectly shaped edges and holes every quarter inch in the crust. We got one Hawaiian special and one pepperoni regular and some beers. But of the three of us no one wanted to take the leftovers home. That says a lot to me when 2 were college students always looking for food and the other a 60-something man that doesn't even like his own cooking so any option is great. I will likely try them again but if that one doesn't go well I will stick with others. read more

I have to say first Aaaammmaaazzziiinnnggg pizza. I love pizza and have tried a lot of places and to be honest I have been a fan of another pizzerias Chicago style but people have raved about Bono's and how great it is so when I was making my choice today I decided to try Bono's and OMG I am glad I did. The pizza sauce has awesome flavor that doesn't overwhelm other ingredients but can be tasted and is really good. There was that great cheese pull that a pizza is supposed to have and the ingredients were very fresh. Now when I go again I will get one or two less wetter ingredients like tomatoes and pepper I'd choose between them based on what else I had on it and the only reason why is that I brought it home and it heated up great but the center crust disintegrated lol it wasn't even mushy crust, it was gone into the toppings and that was okay with me because the delicious crust was stuffed full of cheese too and I scooped up the toppings with this. Ice thick crust. Again this was my fault for not considering that with all the tomatoes on top more wet ingredients might not play well... but the toppings... while slices of tomato, fresh not canned or even day old mushrooms, banana peppers were so fresh and tasty and onion in little pieces so there were no huge pieces of onion. The pepperoni was great, not spicy and overpowering if this delicious feast but just right. I am so impressed and can honestly say that I think I have found a new favorite! I happened upon Bono's a few months back and I now believe that it is the best deep dish pizza in South City. The service is very friendly.

I used to absolutely love this pizza shop, however my recent experience changed my perspective forever. I placed an order online using Slice, which provided an estimated delivery time of 30-40 minutes (reasonable). After over an hour had passed, I reached out to slice customer service asking where my pizza was. After waiting nearly AN HOUR OVER the estimated delivery time, my pizza finally arrived. Halfway into my second slice I found a hair in the pizza. Like a normal human, after I pulled the hair (which was very clearly not mine) out of my mouth, I immediately spit this into the trash. I reached back out to Slice to report this to the shop and request a refund for a) the pizza being so late and b) finding a hair in my food. Slice got in contact with the shop and their response was "bring it back to the shop". Huh!? You want me to bring a chewed up piece of food from the trash with someone's hair in it back to the shop at nearly 9pm as "proof" for a refund? From someone who has supported this shop for the past 10 years, I will never be returning as the situation was handled very poorly. I understand things being late as it is a busy Friday night, but finding hair in the food is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Go anywhere else! read more

It's been years since we've been to Bono's and I can say I'm so glad we went back! On one side was a small little eating area with a few booths where a family can go in and eat and on the other side is a bar. We ate on the bar side. The bartender was very friendly and made a great jolly rancher shot for us. We ordered the Bono's special pizza and it was really good. The crust was thin and crispy and the toppings were flavorful. We decided to try the tavern wings (the sauce is a mix of hot sauce and bbq sauce) and they were yummy! I'm a bit picky about my wings, I prefer crispy and not slimy and these were perfectly crispy. This is definitely a spot we will be adding to our rotation to frequent more often. read more

This was a hard one to review. We went right when they open on a Sunday. Parking you can either park in the street or there is a few spots in the back of that strip you can park at. I'm guessing the gentleman (older man) owns the place was the only one working there when we arrived. He was very nice and told us we could sit where we like. The weather was awesome out so we decided to sit outside. He brought our drinks out, and there was no carbonation in the soda. He apologized and fixed our drinks. We ordered a large house salad, a Philly sandwich and a margarita pizza. The food was good. My only complaints is that when they brought us a plate out for the salad was brought out with an extra plate the plate was dirty. The service was slower which was expected because he was the only one there. Someone did show up a little later and did help him out. But the pizza he knows exactly what he's doing. He can make it how you want. I would go back but maybe take it home to eat it. The service was average it was nothing exceptional or bad about it. The Ambiance is also acceptable. What I am concerned about is the deep dish pizza that we ordered this past Friday night, 11/8/24. The two items that we ordered were the baked rigatoni and a deep dish pizza with sausage and pepperonis. The rigatoni was great. It was cheesy and had big chunks of Italian sausage. I loved it. The real issue was the deep dish pizza. It seems this restaurant has decided on cost cutting measures and the pizza was not deep at all. While the crust is the original crust and height that I remember the other times I had this pizza, the filling on the inside was only half the height that it used to be. Let me explain what I'm saying. There seems to have only been a thick layer of cheese and some meat toppings and then the red sauce on top of that. It wasn't a double layer of fillings that it used to be. Our pizza came out only half filled in the crust and the red sauce was very runny. When we cut the pizza slice and pulled it away from the other slices, the entire Pizza collapsed due to watery red sauce on top. The sauce was very runny and it ran out onto the cardboard base. When we brought this to the attention of our waiter, he said the runny sauce on the cardboard base was grease from the pepperoni. No, I know what grease looks like. And I know what runny tomato sauce on top of a pizza looks like. The sauce had spilled out onto the cardboard from the top of the pizza. At that point, he offered to take the pizza back and have them cook it some more. When he brought the pizza back, the red sauce seem to have thicken up some but the pizza crust was burnt. And still I want to stress the point that the meat & cheese filing on the inside was not a deep dish amount of cheese and meat. It was only half the height. For these reasons, I would not recommend this restaurant for deep dish pizza anymore. I used to love the pizza there, but I would not order dish pizza there anymore. Unfortunately, I did not get photos of the pizza while we were at the restaurant. Here are some photos to show what the pizza looks like the next day after it was refrigerated. You can see that the pizza filling is not to the top of the crust, and the bottom was burnt. read more

I've had better customer service, as I had to have him come back to give me Parmesan cheese and red pepper, 3 of each I was given... Bbq pizza was 7/10. Decent pizza, had a standard store bought pizza taste nothing special. The deep dish was not what I was expecting . The cheese was literally a pizza size hockey puck with absolutely no pull or stretch to it. I could not eat nor swallow the thick glob of cheese. The pizza sauce and crust had good flavor so I ate that instead. If you're in the area you may want to give it a go. I'm not sure I'll personally be back. read more

Best pie in St. Louis! Sadly, we only discovered them a few months ago. We have been missing out! We love the Chef Salad, Sicilian pizza, Bono's Deluxe, and the shrimp and crab pizza. They offer deep dish, NY style, and thin crust. We love all three. They're perfect. The servers are friendly and helpful as well. The bartender and server made recommendations that exceeded our expectations on our first visit. We also noticed another couple who ordered pasta, wings, and toasted ravioli, and they both raved about their food. The portions were ginormous; enough for at least two more meals. We live too far (Affton) for them to deliver to us, but I am more than willing to pick up our order because it's worth the drive. Food and service are exceptional. Don't sleep on this one! As a side note, we don't care for St. Louis style pizza (e.g., IMO's, Elicia's, Cecil Whittaker's, etc.))--Provel cheese on a cracker crust that's sometimes burnt. We love the Fontina and mozzarella cheese on the Sicilian at Bono's. For us, it's blasphemous to add Provel to any pizza. It always tastes like plastic-y cheese food. While Salvageyard Pizza, which is just down the street from Bono's, offered a very good deep dish and salad, the service was terrible on both occasions. We called to check on their hours before driving down to them, and when we got there, the teenage hostess told us that the manager or owner decided to close the kitchen due to staffing issues. They didn't even apologize. That's how we discovered Bono's, so thanks to Salvageyard's poor service, Bono's will have our business going forward. read more

Aside from that they put my pies in to finish up when I walked in to ensure they were super fresh and ready to go when I brought them home. It may have added a few mins to the trip but I'd take the better quality food over the time here, shows they care. But what I appreciated the most was the friendly service I got from the staff when I walked in - super friendly and attentive.
