Every time we come through this area, we see so many people going in and always looks crowded. Of course we wanted to see what the buzz was about. 4 of us had a late lunch here around 3ish. Our wasn't busy which was a plus as we were seated immediately. The place has a really nice pizza bar setup. The seating area is comfortable with U shaped booth. I would say it's great for a nice group of people. They have a lunch and late night special for food. You can pick 3 items for $12. Pretty good deal. We all ordered a few different things so we could all try them. I will say everything we tried taste good. My pizza was a bit too crunchy on the bottom, though. Maybe they could've taken it out 1 minute sooner. The service was good. I can see why they place is popular. I will say that I left the place feeling very bloated. So much bread and cheese. Next time, I'll try the gluten free options.

Beautiful place, great atmosphere, pizza is light and fresh, salad is great as well. I only gave it 3 star because we were still eating and talking, the waitress came over and asked us were we ready to pay which we were, but she stood over us as we were grabbing our money to pay, which was weird and uncomfortable and a first for us at any restaurant. We didn't appreciate that and no we didn't leave a tip, where we would usually leave a $10-$20 tip. Like give us some room lady, why stand over us like a security guard? Like find something else to do instead of standing over us like warden, smh. Other that it was cool. For now on though we will just order puck up.

I love this place so much. The atmosphere is amazing....very well put together and always the best OG movies playing. The t-ravs should be on all "best of" lists in stl. Drinks are fantastic. My favorites are the basil martini (seasonal) and the n/a love and devotion martini (try it with real gin, delicious). I've had several pizzas and all have been great. Consistent favorite goes to the carnivore, requested a little well done. All salads are good too. Highly recommend Bud's.

This was my first time here. We got the Carnivore pizza and an order of "Bud's Nugs". The Nugs were soft and fluffy, and the dipping marinara was tasty, but it was a lot like the pizza dough. If we hadn't gotten a pizza as well, they would be a great appetizer, but they were a bit much dough with the pizza - our mistake. The Carnivore was a great pizza. It had Pepperoni, Sausage, Bacon, Ham, with Mozzarella and Provel cheese. It wasn't greasy like a lot of "meat lovers" pizzas. Like I said earlier, the dough was soft and fluffy and held up well to all of the toppings. We'll be back. The staff was fast and friendly, and the restaurant has a fun environment to hang out in.

Loved it! Came here after the Chelsea match by request of a fellow Chelsea supporter. We came and sat at the bat and were immediately greeted with water and menus. After looking at the menu, I decided I wanted a few things and when I placed the order, the server suggested the $12 pick 3, so I got a cheese slice, a small Caesar salad with balsamic dressing, and a half order of 3 nugs. Drink wise, I went with the Mont Blanc. My food came out in jiff, followed by my drink. The cheese slice was light, and had a good amount of cheese to sauce ratio. My nuggs had the perfect amount of garlic and butter, not too overpowering but good enough to where you could taste it in each bite. My salad was perfect size and is always a hit with the balsamic. I didn't order my drink until later, but it was refreshing. Overall, this was a solid visit. I really enjoyed the "value meal" I got as it had the perfect amount of food for the price. Additionally, I must commend them as being one of the cleanest places I've ever seen. The place is immaculate!

    Pick 3

I heard through the social media grapevine, that Bud's Pizza & Beer had a 3 for $12 Lunch Special. After I dropped my taxes off at my accountant, I needed a treat. So I headed right over to Bud's to enjoy an affordable lunch. You're given 9 items to choose from and you can pick any 3 of them that you want for your lunch. You can even pick the same item 3 times, if you don't want variety. I personally wanted variety, so I choose; a Slice of the Day which was Meatball, 3 Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings and 3 Toasted Raviolis. The toasted Ravs are made in house and are as good as some I have had on, The Hill. My wings were meaty and juicy and the garlic parmesan kicked ass. The slice of pizza definitely had pizazz. The meatballs were sliced in half for presentation, the sauce had a nice tang to it and the cheese was mozzarella. Best of all, I liked how the bottom of the crust had a nice toasted & crispy finish. They have a good variety of beers. Their offerings come in, bottle, can and draft. I went with a draft. I choose a Hide Tide from Logboat Brewery in Columbia, MO. It's one of my faves from that brewery. The service was top-notch. I enjoyed reading the story of Bud and the reasoning behind all the trains on display. There's metered parking in front of the restaurant and a private lot across the street, which is free. Use which ever meets your needs. I'll definitely be back for another lunch and maybe a dinner, too. When: February 23, 2026 Why: Lunch after meeting with accountant.

We ordered Buds Pizza & Beer through Grubhub and were really impressed! We got a half cheese / half pepperoni pizza and it was absolutely delicious. The crust, sauce, and cheese were all really good, and the pizza arrived hot and fresh. Even the plain cheese side was a hit. Definitely a place we would order from again!

Woah woah woah, i gotta keep it a buck i was blown away by this pie. I went in thinking i was getting a greasy bar pie (no disrespect to a tried and true greasy bar pie) but this thing went so insanely hard. I mean, the whipped ricotta i have been dreaming about for the past 3 nights. Bud's is serving MEGA big pies that are enough to feed an army. They have a refined interior but still true to what it is: your local spot for a beer, pie, and the game. But, shoot, it's groovy enough to be a nice date night spot, and the za is the perfect complement! 100% the crown jewel will be a go to for me!

Two times in one week! And second visit was our first stop on the Pizza Passport tour! We had 18 people and although they couldn't do reservations they agreed to put is in the back room with 2 booths and 2 high top tables, it was perfect! The Hostess got us seated as we were first in, got us water and took our drink order. Our server came around and we talked about our group and our pizza passports. I didn't catch her name, and the receipt says Main B. She had our large group as well as the other tables as the restaurant filled up. She kept up pretty well and was focused but not overly friendly. We ordered wings and Bud's Nugs and a small house salad to start. We have been in before and really enjoy the wings. Crispy and perfectly sauced. Not enough carbs, the Bud's Nugs were a garlic dough ball with marinara, very good! Can you believe we got the Cinnanugs too? What were we thinking? They will satisfy your sweet tooth! The house salad was really good, it is great that they offer a 1/2 and a whole. Now for the pizza, the Boxcar. Jalapeno, pepperoni, mozzarella with a balsamic glaze. We go it minus the glaze. From last year's Pizza Passport, this was ranked #1 and it stays right there this year unless one of the new spots knocks it from its perch! The sauce is perfect, not too sweet, lots of pepperoni, lots of jalapenos. So good. I ordered two drinks, the Mont Blanc and the Heaven on Earth. I really wanted to like them as the bartender was so nice, but they were just ok. This is a great place, with great pizza, salad and wings!

This is one of my neighborhood gems! They have great pizza, perfect for a movie night, hosting or just a weekday treat. I've done pick-up and dined in. Most recently I have attended their Tarot Readings on Thursday evenings and sampled most of their appetizer menu. You can go wrong with the meatballs, spicy fried pickles, toasted ravs, Caesar salad, wings! Honestly everything was delicious. The service is always great and the space is beautiful. Great music, vibes, and food!

    BOXCAR
    Lauren H.

Decided to order in tonight and so glad I did! Ordered the BOXCAR pizza and it was fantastic. The pepperonis had a nice crisp and crunch to them, the jalapeños were big, chunky, sweet and had a tad bit of heat. And the finishing touch was the glaze on top. The pizza was massive and I loved how you could tell it was homemade. This will definitely be my new go to spot for when I'm craving pizza. If you like crispiness with your crust make sure to get it well done! Tip: you've gotta try their dill ranch!

Bud's to the rescue! I was at an event the other night and while the space we were in had a kitchen to order food, they were out of so many items and they had a long wait. Instead of ordering at the event space, the group and I thought to order Pizza for delivery. I had never had Bud's before, but someone recommended it and since they offer a 1 topping for only $15, it was an easy decision to order a few of them for the group. I ordered 2 cheese, 1 pepperoni and 1 sausage. We needed delivery so I did pay the additional cost for that fee, but the driver was quick and as soon as he picked up the order, he texted me to let me know his ETA. When he arrived, he brought the pizzas inside and made sure they got to me in the event space. The pizza was so fresh and it does seem to be very close to NY style so I am a fan and will order from here again. I have not been into the restaurant, so this is only based on delivery and taste of the pizza. It was really good and others also commented about his tasty it was. I don't think we had any leftover - so that's a good sign!

So happy I finally got to try Bud's! I love Golden Hoosier and since this is owned by the same people, I had a feeling I'd definitely vibe with it. Parking can be tricky, as it's street parking. I would recommend coming down southbound on Kingshighway to snag a spot out front if possible. There's no parking directly across. The side streets are tight! The restaurant itself is more on the narrow side with two separate rooms, but there's a good amount of seating in the depth of the building. We were sat in a large booth in the second room. The place has a super elevated yet casual vibe. Very clean and aesthetic. I didn't order a drink, but we definitely had some good food. Italian salad- so good! Everything was wildly fresh. I loved the provel and creamy Italian. Boxcar pizza- a true show stopper. The jalapeños with the balsamic glaze was insane. The actual pizza itself tasted fresh with its crispy crust. Super cheesy! I would definitely get this again. Looking forward to returning!

The bartenders are also very friendly and knowledgeable; I enjoy seeing the community they've created among regulars and I've learned a bit more about different beer styles and their serving methods on my stops in. I've personally recommended Little Lager to friends and coworkers, but there are a few things to keep in mind: the small space is not the best for a group happy hours, there isn't a kitchen to serve food (though they do allow outside food) , and there are very few options for non-beer drinkers (outside of a few packaged ciders, wines, and different ways to experience Chicago's infamous Malort). Beyond that, it's a laid-back spot to visit with one or two friends after work or to experience their regular collaborations with local breweries like Perennial and 2nd Shift. I've been a fan since my first visit, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I met here with members of a local running group for one of their periodic pub runs. It was extremely cold when I got there, despite having been nearly 90 degrees out the day before. Several members of our group stood in the doorway, preventing other patrons from entering and exiting. Modern's staff deserves credit for not complaining or forcing them to leave. They may have sensed that this wasn't the local unhoused population. Only employed people run recreationally, despite having relatively little free time. I see this place all the time, from my car on the adjacent highway, on my way back to civilization, but I'd never had the occasion to stop by. Perhaps I'd be a regular if I attended the nearby community college. But if I could afford to eat here, why would I be attending community college? The beer will set you back. I would have been fine with a 32 oz can of Miller High Life, but when in Rome. There's an extensive selection of beers on tap, and probably even more in cans and bottles. I'm no connoisseur, and I don't have that kind of time, so I went with something called Silent Gs, or something to that effect. I justified it, in part, by telling myself that its name is a reference to the Lil Wayne bar adored by people who started listening to rap music in 2003. I paid $7.50-ish for a not particularly large serving, but damn it if it wasn't pretty good. I attempted to mitigate the impact on my reputation by also ordering a slice of pepperoni pizza. I'm gonna have to have a difficult meeting with my accountant, as a result, but it was worth it. The entree serving of the salad would have been enough food, even without the pizza. It's enough vegetables that it's actually kinda obnoxious, like they're trolling you. Who do they think I am, a damn cow? Part of that may have been the brussels sprouts. They help give the salad a surprising heft, for something that doesn't have any meat in it, and help make up for the lack of bacon, which I generally require with brussels sprouts. The candied walnuts, which I thought might be croutons, were another delightful surprise and complemented the tang of the pickled red onions. The pizza came topped with an oddly precise-looking quantity and arrangement of pepperonis, like they might have Russell Crowe from the movie A Beautiful Mind working in the kitchen. It's not like at Domino's, where they just toss them on there and they might not even be on half the pizza. I guess they have to do that when they sell it by the slice. You'd be upset if you didn't get enough of them, because they're delicious. They're the kind that curl up into little cups filled with disgustingly unhealthy and yet delicious oil. I wonder if that's also because they serve it by the slice and hence have to reheat it. That may have resulted in the end of the crust suffering from a bit of Popeyes biscuit-like dryness, but what are you going to do. Then again, that may have been a purposeful attempt to get you to purchase more expensive beer. Everything else here was so well executed, it's hard to imagine this wasn't intentional on their part.
