Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and gave their Chicago-style pizza a try. The cheese pull was strong and load of toppings, though I wished there was a bit more sauce. We ended up taking leftovers home and were surprised at how heavy just four slices were. It took a little while for the pizza to come out, even with the restaurant not too busy, but the wait was worth it. Our waitress gave us a sharpie to write on the brick, which was a fun touch. We were able to watch Sunday football while we waited. Solid spot for causal pizza and good vibes.

I have been wanting to try Blackthorn since a recommendation from a co-worker, years ago and I finally made it. Man, oh man! The Chicago style pizza is absolutely delicious! We ordered a medium and that was too much for the two of us. I forced a second slice because it was so good and we still had 1/2 the pizza to take home. My husband and I marveled at the weight of the pizza box with 4 slices in it. They are not messing around. The crust is perfection and the traditional sauce is spot on and that cheese! The place itself was pretty cool and the service was very good and very friendly and helpful. Loved the Gen X music playing!! If you're tired of St. Louis style pizza and want a delicious and filling pie, you must try Blackthorn!!

Great pizza, friendly staff, make sure you have plenty of time. Loved the music. We ordered a thin crust pizza. The Chef's special sauce was a little too spicy for me, but the pizza was delicious. There is also a nice patio area of the weather permits.

We really wanted to like this place. My husband loves deep dish pizza which is hard to get in St Louis. We ordered before we took the drive knowing deep dish pizzas take a while to bake. Good move. We still had a 15 minute wait after we arrived. No problem ordered beers and soda. They have several Urban Chestnut beers on tap. Win! I went with my favorite Zwickel. Then the pizza came out. My husband was persuaded by the person answering the phone to go with the original sauce. It was the color of chili and a tad spicy. I think we would have like the tomato basil better. We stuck with just pepperoni to get a good taste of what the pizza tastes like. Plenty of mozzarella. I didn't care for the crust...compatible to pop tart crust. Served with paper plates, however, we did have silverware. No table service. Family friendly. There is ski ball and other games to play. Just sorry. Not our thing.

Took a first timer to Blackthorn on a Sunday afternoon! We got there just after open and there was only one other table the entire time we were there. Pizza took awhile to come out, especially for how few people were in there. But once it did, it was huge and filled with toppings (my favorite). The bartender was SUPER friendly and accommodating when we asked her to find a game on the TV.

Front of the restaurant, love the outside option as well.

I visited Blackthorn Pub on a coworker's recommendation. The pizza was amazing! However, if you're ordering the Chicago-style pizza, be aware that it takes about 45-50 minutes to prepare and cook. If you don't want to wait that long, I suggest ordering online beforehand. The atmosphere inside was great--nice and quiet, with the Cardinals game on. I ordered a 12" two-topping pizza, and my wife got a 10" three-topping pizza. When I say I was full after just one piece, I really mean it! I wish I had ordered a smaller one, but now I know for next time. I had leftovers for almost a week. Either way, we will definitely be back. If you haven't tried this place yet, you should!

Service was great and it was the best tasting pizza I've had in a long time to be so thick. This place is reasonably priced without a large confusing menu.

The pizza here is always good and has the perfect spice! The service was okay. You order at the bar and then the staff bring the food was it's done! The restaurant had a neighborhood vibe as it's considered a pub! Plenty of seating inside or outdoor. Street parking is available! The pub is mostly frequented by the folx in the neighborhood. However my husband and I drive a nice little ways for the pizza because it's worth it!

We stumbled onto a post about Chicago style deep dish pizza in STL. Being monster fans of deep dish, we decided to check it out. We left very impressed. The neighborhood dive bar appearance gives the place a super casual feel. Service was great. We ordered their deep dish meat lovers with their original sauce. OMG it was so good. The amount of meat on it defied imagination. The dinner got better with some Bells Two Hearted Ale, a favorite IPA. DEFINITELY a place to check out.

There are a lot of options in St. Louis and in this area, so the fact that the service here is abysmal is odd. They do not seem to care about their customers' satisfaction or don't even do the bare minimum to at least fake it (checking in, providing updates, anticipating needs). The pizza is ok. The sauce is a little spicy compared to most pizzas and the crust is substantial, even on thin crust. Note, even thin crust can take an hour and a half even when the place appears totally empty. That's puzzling. I hope this place can turn around. It's a nice atmosphere, and it has potential.

As a Chicago transplant, when I picked up this 10" box and it weighed 12 pounds, I knew I'd found my new favorite pizza joint!

I went in thinking British craziness and got a "Edgar Allen Poe" feel... But I'm going to say this was NOT what I was expecting. First and foremost, your eyes are going to need adjusting. Plain and simple, it felt more like a dark ... room? (Part of the problem I think is that as it was already June, you can forget using the fireplace to lighten the room up) so it felt.. "Small", and I"m going to feel weird saying this... "Romantic Horrorfest". Wait, before you go "wha??", this isnt' necessarily a bad thing. The Taxidermy , the photos on the wall. the fireplace. the VERY (and I mean VERY) dim lighting... The limited seating on the main floor, the one door in and out it had a "wooden cabin feel".. (See I can find positive things to say about things i wasn't looking for) As for the service, apparently (going back to the Romantic filmfest), I was struggling to get any attention for the bartendress, cause I guess I was solo'ing by myself, and because of how I wasn't able to get the bartendress attention... I kinda felt like an unwanted customer in a place more for couples or friends getting together which had me leaving shortly thereafter, so no real food score (although I will say, much like Oh London ,the menu wasn't really much to work through...), Anyway, no TV's, no world cup game on the air.. just like I said a vibe of a cabin in a "romantic movie, where the monsters lurk". And Apologies for some of the iffy pictures, it just didn't feel right using a flash on the camera in such a secluded locale) and like I said, it wasnt' what I was expecting (rowdy British fans watching the local club or something), but there's something about it that even i have to admit, would make this location a nice "date night" or "out with friends' location, more so than just a single person looking for a nightcap. (And Maybe there really is a monster hiding in the fireplace, to keep the "Horror" feel going?? :)

I ordered their pork chop, which came with asparagus and layered potatoes. The pork chop was served with a chutney sauce made from apricot, black, and golden raisins. I had the Irish cheese sandwich, Justin went with the corned beef -- and both were genuinely good. Comforting, hearty, and exactly what you hope for in a pub meal. Now... the kitchen was moving a bit slow this visit. Was it noticeable? Yes. Was it worth the wait? Also yes. Because Sam -- the female bartender -- absolutely made the experience. Being a firecracker myself, I ordered the Firecracker Smashburger. It's a single patty, with Pepper Jack Cheese, Tomato-Onion-Jalapeno Relish, Drizzled with a Tangy Fire Ranch and served on a Martin's Potato Roll. The burger was juicy and had those crispy edges that a smash burger is known for. My favorite cheese is Pepper Jack, so that was a big plus for me.
