I still like this place and will be going back but the last time I was here, it was a little disappointing. I went to get Spa french man & ped. When I went in, the salon was empty and the ladies looked very...unhappy. The whole time I was there, they were going on about something in Vietnamese very loudly. Usually, I don't mind it at all but that day, it was a little awkward. I saw a weird piece of something in my nail toward the end but they insisted that it was piece of dry polish that it will wash off when I wash my hands. Did it actually wash off? nope. Oh also, my manicure lasted only for 3 days... So yeah, maybe it will be better next time but I felt like I should write about it. read more

This place does a great spa pedicure. I walk A LOT and occasionally my feet get to a point where they need professional help. This is the only place I've been to where they can adequately deal with my calluses so my feet look respectable again. I also had my eyebrows threaded there once for a wedding and she did a great job; cleaned them up without me looking constantly surprised. This is a small, a no-nonsense shop, though, so if you're expecting Zen waterfalls and aromatherapy and stuff, this won't be the place for you. read more

I come here often with no appointment and I'm usually accommodated right away. I love their pedicures & five dollar more callus remover. Sometimes however, if they are really busy my manicure isn't done as detailed as I would like. But I still recommend it for it's a good price. Not too expensive, not too cheap. Usually I don't go to this nail salon. I only come here when my usual place is too busy or closed when I need my nails done that day. I got a full set and I was nervous because Bonsoir doesn't really have a good rep. But Nancy did an amazing job and I was actually surprised. I let her know what I wanted and that I liked them thinner, so she took the time to shave them down and filed them until they were all even. I'm really happy with my nails. You just have to let them know what you want and communicate with whoever's doing your nails. Everyone was really nice and I had a really fun conversation while I was there. read more

WARNING - YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! I did. I should of checked recent reviews on Yelp before going to this joint. Geezzz... What a dive! That didn't bother me since all I want is to pamper myself with a nice manicure. I also opted for the hot oil treatment as an extra treat. It was the worse manicure I have ever in my entire adult life! Swear! The woman was in a big hurry. Instead of applying the cuticle remover she just poured it on to the tip of my fingers. Instead of pushing my cuticles back to quickly pushed each cuticle about twice or thrice at lighting speed. If you blink - you would miss it. She was so quick about trimming my cuticles, I was worried she would cut me! She poured oil on my hands and inserted them to heating pads. My hands were in the pads for about 3 minutes (not at all worth the extra $5) . Each step was doing quickly and mindlessly. Her goal was getting the job done with as quickly as possible, collect the money and get me off her chair. I think the entire process was about 10 minutes FLAT. I didn't notice until I got home the clear coat was all over my cuticles plus the nail polish had bubbles in them. Well, there goes $17 and the nice manicure I wanted down the drain. I wouldn't go back to this place even if they offered their service for free. read more

I use yelp but have never written a posting before...Today, I was super compelled to do so because I have received the WORST manicure ever. I honestly can do a better job. Since my nail polish color is dark, the job needs to be moreso precise or (at least not all over your cuticles and skin area). I'm not usually demanding, but this place has just set the new bar as the worst nail salon ever. The lady who did my hand nails was super rough with my hands and she cut my nails into some sort of square- circle shape which I can't even describe. The entire time I felt like I was being rushed when there was like only one other customer in the salon!!! Afterwards on my drive home, I noticed my nail polish had bubbled. Wish I could upload a picture. This place is wack. I think it is bizarre how this place is even rated at 4 Stars. PLS!! save yourself your money/time and go to Delacey in old town or even Elegant Nails across the street. This place isn't even cheap!!!! AT least delacey is cheaper and consistent. read more

Definitely my favorite nail salon out there ive been going here for about 3 years...considering that I used to live in pasadena and have since moved and now live on the west side and I still come here that says something. I love the ladies that work here, they are very meticulous in what they do, my mani pedis are always perfect. They give you lengthy treatments and never cut you short. The spa chairs are nice, the atmosphere is very relaxing, they always help you have a magazine and will help you turn the pages while you are getting your mani...they are very clean, like the previous reviewer said they sterilize everything. Even while you are waiting for your polish job they scrub your basin for the next client...and they remove the jet drain things...I am paranoid about fungus so this is a definite plus. I love their selection of OPI nail polish. It is wonderful. They rock! read more

This has been my shop for a year or so now. I see Mae, but everyone does great work. It's not a fancy, overpriced place. It's simple, high quality, and reliable. If you want to pay more and get less, this isn't the place. If you want a great mani/pedi at a good price, look no further. read more

Great value for the price. For $30, their basic spa mani/pedi includes a little exfoliating scrub, cooling gel on the feet/legs, and they put your hands and forearms in a this heat sleeve type thing while their creams work into your skin. I've never gotten so many "extras" beyond the basic mani/pedi for this price at a walk-in nail salon. They also payed attention good to detail when trimming the cuticles and painting the nails. The technicians were organized with the timing of all the treatments, and got to business fast. I get my fingernails buff/shined instead of painted and most places charge $5 for this. They charge $3. The spa chairs had a very good massager! They were friendly too, but not so much that it's annoying. read more

I use to come here often with my mom and sisters, but lately it's been expensive for mediocre product. The nail polish would have bubbles or small hairs showing. I wouldn't have come here again, but I was desperate to get my nails done for my sister's wedding. I arrived at 9:30am on Saturday and they weren't open, after waiting around for 10 minutes I left. I tried it again the following Sunday, arriving at 10 am and the same thing happened. It would be nice if this salon was open during their advertised hours of operation. read more

I've had a good pedicure here before, but came in this time to get my dark purple gel mani off and french tip gels on. One star off bc they don't have new stuff to file & buff and their instruments don't come peelpacked, so maybe they weren't sanitized correctly. Another 2 stars off bc they just soaked & scraped my gel off without using the electric sander and I can see specs of my old polish on the sides. I didn't see them in the salon, so they're small, but I can see a big old strand of cotton ball uv-baked into my pinky :-( Oops, I should have noticed in the salon. 2 stars just for the super nice manicurist that listened when I said I didn't want my cuticles all cut off and gave a good hand massage. Ok fine 3 bc the French tips look nice even though they don't feel as smooth as they should. read more

THIS SALON IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! On a scale of 1-5 they get 100! I've been to a lot on salons before, but I always seem to go back to this one. Their service is great and the workers and very friendly! The place is also very nice and clean so you wont find nail clippings all over the floor. The spa chairs are wonderful and relaxing. Even though it costs a little bit more than others, the service is definitely worth it! So before you go to any where else, check out this place first! read more

i had never been here before in the 7 years ive lived in south pasadena. now, i went in and 2 girls did my mani pedi and did a great job. because i had a good experience, i went back. the girls that did my nails before were busy and there was a long wait so i tried someone new for a gel mani.. first.. i asked the girl to be gentle with removing the gel, because my nails were thin and hurt if they were to be filed down anymore. she didnt listen and filed anyways. ive had gel before and they way they have been removed, they would soak them in a cotton ball and wrap each finger with a foil, thus making it more comfortable for the client. well this place just have your fingers soak in a big bowl of remover and it was very uncomfortable to have my fingers dry out and feel the icky stuff melt off. the polish part was very annoying, im not sure if she was trying to rush but the gel wasnt sticking and we had to do it over about 3 times. we were finally finished and by the time i left it was dark, when morning came around, i can see streaks of different colors in the gel, probably from different polish and it wasnt a good solid coat. i had to go back and ask them to redo the polish AGAIN. i asked for a different girl but still gave me the same one that did my first service. i was very annoyed she chose to argue with me that the polish looked fine but it was clearly not. while they were soaking off the gel, i got a clear look of the salon and it was filthy! and the tools she used on me were NOT CLEAN, there was old cuticle dried up on one of the tools, it made me wanna barf. im sorry but its true! south pasadena should not have this dirty of a salon in their city. my sister also saw a girl the same night i had went and same with her, the polish was crap and didnt even wanna bother to go back to get them done again. sorry but never again will i be in there read more

This place was horrible by far the worst place I've ever gone, I came in to fix two broken nails the lady there didn't even remove all of the old nail before adding the powder for the new set. She rushed on my nails and they looked like crap not shaped like the rest and all bumpy. Overall horrible not one good thing to say. read more

I've been going to Bon Soir for about four years, and I've found that they consistently do good work. The spa chairs are comfortable and always really clean, and you can see that the ladies take the time to properly sterilize everything before you sit down, so there's no need to worry that you could be the next statistic in a KCAL news spot. Even when the salon gets really busy on a weekend afternoon, I never feel like my manicurist is rushing to get me out of the chair. They even spent some quality time with my six-year-old daughter this past weekend (unlike other salons I've been in where there is thinly veiled contempt for kids) and gave her a mani/pedi with darling glittery flower appliques; she was over the moon! The massages that go with the manis and pedis are among the best I've experienced at one of these places... good pressure and very relaxing! The selection of nail polish is decent (lots of OPI), and my manis and pedis always last long - including french style. Bon Soir is a bit more expensive than other salons in the area, but it is a bit more upscale and the attention is worth it. read more

This was a lousy experience. A poor selection of old nail polishes and then when I didn't want my callouses shaved with a razor blade they proposed something to soften them ($5 extra). Quite the language barrier and I missed the warning it could burn my feet. I now have red and sore blotches on the top of my feet where I guess the acid/softener spilled over. Also I discovered after I left I was missing my eternity ring which I had put in my purse along with other jewellery before the mani/pedi. I don't know how I lost it and they were very lacklustre in helping me search for it. I won't be returning. read more

This place has gone far down hill. Nail polish color selection is terrible. Most of the polishes were thick or watered down with thinner. I didn't get one smile when I walked in or when I walked out. The only time the manicurist smiled was when she said she was sorry for belly laughing in my ear from a story she told that I have no idea what was about. It's $30 for a spa manicure/pedicure. The chair needs to be replaced because the massage balls rolled along my bones with no padding in between. The manicurists just went through the motions. I left with cut up cuticles, polish that looked like it separated after it dried, and a yucky feeling that I got ripped off! I'd avoid this place and their lousy employees. read more

This place has degraded in quality and service over time. The last time I went I asked the lady not to cut my cuticles along the bottom of my nail bed and she kept forgetting, so she cut the cuticle on every other nail. She trimmed off skin along the sides of my finger nails, I think just for the sake of looking like she was doing something...it totally wrecked my cuticles and the next day I noticed I still had a hang nail. The shape was round on some nails and squared on others. Also, the ladies that work there were talking very loudly in another language (so hard to relax) mostly about me because at least 2 of them felt it necessary to tell me after much laughter that they "were just kidding with me." What? I wont be going back, I'd rather pay more for better quality and professionalism. read more

I've been to this location twice and both times I've been cut by the manicurist. The first time she cut my big toe but it wasn't infected and was fine by the evening. However this time, I just had a manicure done and she cut two of my fingers. One seems to be ok, but the other hurts and I'm afraid it's infected. I should have known not to go back after the first time. The women there are really nice, however some of them need to be careful with the work. read more

I had my hair done at the new Brandon Lee Salon next door and thought I should give this place a try because it was convenient. WHAT A MISTAKE! I walked in and looked at the prices published on the card and saw that manicures are $12. I told the lady that greeted me that I like a MANICURE. I waited about 10 minutes and the same lady came and started my manicure. She was extremely rushed and very fast. In the process she said my hands were dry and recommended a hot oil treatment. I declined. Before she painted the nail polish she asked if I want to pay now. I said ok. I asked if she accept credit cards and she said yes but there is a $1 transaction fee for any service under $20. So, I decided to pay cash. She said it was $15. I was a little dumbfounded as I gave her the cash. When she brought back the change I told her the card by the door said $12 for a manicure. She said she gave me the spa which was $15. I proceeded to tell her I asked for the manicure not spa. She said I didn't say regular and in the winter is standard they give the spa treatment. I said I told her I said manicure which was $12 and I specifically decline the hot oil treatment. After going back and forth - I decided to drop it after because I wanted my nails done. After a very very rushed job , I left. ICK.... It was a only $3 additional dollars. She must be hard up for $3. If she needs it so badly, she can have it. I just won't tip. Later that day I noticed that the last clear coat she painted were painted over some of my cuticles. I will NEVER GO BACK. read more

Ok I joined Yelp to review how horrible horrible horrible this place is. I made an appointment, but when I walked in the woman at the counter looked like I had ruined her day. After she grunted at me, I told her my name, appointment time to which she responded "well then go over there" and went back to her magazine. They appeared to be busy but there were several woman standing around. I had no idea which chair I was supposed to go to, where I should get my color etc so I stood for a couple of minutes before someone turned on the water in the spa and then literally squirted this blue powder in from where she was sitting, 6 six feet away. Some of it made it into the spa, the rest is on my pants. I sat for 20 minutes until someone actually said hi to me and started my pedicure which consisted of removing my previous color, sort of filing and then putting on new. She stopped 3 times to talk on her cell phone and then paused mid color to clean the drain of the spa and scrub the tub. Finally she finished as another woman started my manicure. They were super unfriendly and as my nails were drying I saw that 8 of my fingernails had huge smudges on them. I would have had them fixed but I wanted to get the hell out of there. Now I have to remove all the polish and basically paint my nails myself. So horrible, I can't believe they are still in business especially considering the number of nail places on Fair Oaks. And as for cleanliness, their idea of the cleaning is wrapping a piece of cotton around the utensils. So nasty, so horrible and so not what getting your nails is supposed to be like. Sorry to those who have had great experiences but I really wish I could have agreed with you. I'm going back to Dian on Colorado in Pasadena. read more
