Curry with chicken
Edith J.

I had the curry with chicken and thought it was really good! we came during a cold, cloudy day and it was perfect for this weather. the service was fast and the waiters were very attentive.

Overall A: comfortable, decorated, friendly, timely, tasty & fresh chicken pho and shrimp peanut salad that rivals our favorite SF Thai spot, Yummy Yummy. Recommend, and we shall return.

Green Curry Chicken Banh Mi

First time here and probably won't be our last! It wasn't packed when we went. They had small indoor seating and outdoor seating available. Service was amazing.. our server literally took down 2 apps and 4 entree orders by memory and I was impressed as the dishes came on within a reasonable time. I was surprised how fresh the dishes were. Flavorful and not bland. Chicken pho (forgot to picture) was tasty with good amount of noodles and chicken. Comes with cilantro, jalapeños, & bean sprouts. Green curry banh mi was delicious with extra stuffings on the side. My FAVORITE is the tiger prawn rolls & the mighty mint salad! It taste so FRESHHH and flavor was on point. I totally didn't want to share. It was definitely way more yummy than the chili lime wild salmon salad (which isn't bad either) Kids bento box come with cookie, veggies, choice of chicken, mandarin oranges, & choice of noodles or rice! Our server was tentative and provide good recommendations. She was awesome! Highly recommend trying this place!

Easy spot to go for a quick walk dinner. Pretty reasonably priced and servers were quick and friendly. Food was quite Americanized version of Thai food, but was solid enough! Nice light by the window, and indoor regular and bar seating available as well as some outdoor seats.

One spring roll
John G.

I always try to find something positive about a review so here we go - my wife liked her dish. After that...the rest of this review will be brutally honest. The kids bento box is absolutely boring, the tiger prawn spring rolls is just that - one spring roll???? My dish made it to the table 25 minutes after everyone else's dish. The wait staff was there but we had to waive them down to accomplish the following- refills of water, presentation of the final check, following up on my pho that was very delayed and finally someone to take our initial order. If we ate there on an "off" night we practically checked off all the "what could go wrong" boxes. On a positive note- their ambiance was nice. If anyone else has a different experience please let me know. Cheers - Chef John

Chicken pho

There are so many great places to eat in Mill Valley that I expected more from Boo Koo. Service: I walked and wasn't sure if I would be seated or if I needed to order at the counter and had to ask. Overall, the employees seemed very unenthused. Food: Very disappointing chicken pho. A good bowl of soup can make up for bad service and lack luster atmosphere, but this soup completely lacked flavor, and had a not-so-generous serving of meat and noodles. Atmosphere: This is more of a fast casual place and the atmosphere is just fine considering that. However, I didn't appreciate the flies buzzing around. Price: The one redeeming quality is that you don't have to break the bank to eat here. Worth it if you can find a dish that's better than the chicken pho.

Boo Koo Peanut

I ordered the Boo Koo Peanut and the presentation is nice however the dish was horrible. The only thing that was decently good was the steak which was extra cost. The noodles were also overcooked. It tasted like pasta with a dollop of peanut butter. My friends also ordered the chicken pho and the pad thai. The broth in the chicken pho tasted like canned chicken broth from the store. Cabbage is not supposed to be in pho. Chicken was dry. The pad thai had ingredients that usually aren't supposed to be in pad thai like tomatoes, mushrooms, and celery. The noodles tasted like burnt noodles. I usually don't like to waste food but i couldn't finish it. Overall, do not eat here! Everything was bland.

The flavors were authentic and flavorful without being overly Americanized. The pork curry was absolutely delicious and is definitely a must-order. I also got the tea leaf salad and immediately wished I had ordered the large because you can never have enough tea leaf salad. The palata was a great starter -- flaky, warm, and exactly what you'd want. The miso black cod was another standout. The broth it was simmered in was incredibly flavorful, and the fish was perfectly cooked. The garlic noodles were also done really well with the right noodles and great flavor -- honestly better than some places known specifically for garlic noodles. And of course, the coconut rice is always worth ordering. We skipped dessert since nothing really stood out, but I would love to see them add more traditional Burmese desserts like faluda in the future. Parking wasn't too difficult, especially if you circle around the back neighborhood area. The wait was reasonable, the outdoor patio seating was nice, and the service was attentive throughout the meal. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when craving Burmese food.

I went in curious and optimistic -- unfortunately, the experience fell flat almost immediately. Upon entering, no one acknowledged us or greeted us at the door. For a restaurant that presents itself as modern and slightly upscale, that lack of front-of-house awareness was noticeable and set an awkward tone from the start. We ordered the vegetable cake, a dish I'm very familiar with and usually love. Texturally, it was decent -- soft inside with a lightly crisp exterior -- but the flavor missed the mark. It tasted under-seasoned yet strangely heavy, with an excess of oil that lingered on the palate. Instead of feeling clean and balanced, it felt weighed down. For context, Palate Garden Party executes this dish far better: brighter flavor, better seasoning, and far less grease -- and at a lower price point. Even with the longer drive, the difference in quality makes it worth it. Dessert was a banana sesame roll dumpling dish that sounded promising on paper. The first bite was interesting, but that novelty disappeared quickly. The dumpling skin was far too thick and overly crunchy, almost stale-textured, which overwhelmed the filling. The interior lacked cohesion and finesse, and the cinnamon flavor felt muddled rather than intentional. We didn't finish it. Across the board, the food leaned excessively greasy, to the point where it didn't feel good to eat. I left feeling heavy and uncomfortable rather than satisfied. The flavors never quite came together, the quality didn't feel refined, and there wasn't enough charm or warmth to compensate for the technical misses. Overall, this isn't a place I'd return to or recommend. There are far better options for Chinese food that offer cleaner flavors, better execution, and a more thoughtful dining experience.

What I didn't realize at the time was the sheer pedigree behind it. It turns out Madcap is Michelin-rated, and Chef Ron Siegel is a celebrity chef. A Top Chef alum who headlined at legendary spots like The French Laundry and Michael Mina. Ironically, I didn't learn any of this from a food blog or Yelp. I heard it from my dentist in Vallejo. Talk about a random convo! As for the food, Chef Siegel's creations are pure joy--a celebration of culinary genius that feels genuinely divine. It's the kind of meal that evokes deep emotion; it really is magical. I can honestly say it's the best restaurant in Marin, Point Reyes included. We paired our meal with a beautiful bottle of sake by Pharrell Williams (yes, you read that right), and to top off an already incredible evening, we got to meet Chef Siegel and take a group photo with him. What a cool dude! Inside the restaurant, the decor was refined and classy, featuring rich dark wood accents and curated artwork. My only minor complaint was the seating - the wooden chair, while stylish, could have been a bit more comfortable. Overall, it was a truly lovely experience.
