I've tried Boo Koo the other day and everything I tasted made me want to go back again. I love Asian street food and always make it a point to eat as much of it as I can when traveling over there. (ahhh - such fond memories of street pad thai, spicy crab or noodles from Bangkok/Singapore or Bali). I tried the chili lime salad with wild salmon and it was quite good. There was a sizeable piece of lightly grilled salmon sitting on top of a bed of crunchy sprouts and veggies,, some cabbage and vermicelli noodles, and drizzled with a chili lime dressing. Loved every bite of it. My wife got a sweet potato curry dish with brown rice and veggies and it was also very good. The homemade sodas were good - I liked the ginger lime one, but I thought they were pricey at $3 a glass. I would have put them in bigger mason jars for that price, as I drank mine down and didn't order a refill. Still it's a very good place for casual dining and I loved the meal I had. I always order the chicken pho with no noodles/sub veggies and spice it up with a little Sriracha sauce. It's healthy and satisfying. The ambiance is stylish and the staff is friendly. A solid lunch, or casual dinner venue. read more

Tiger Prawn Sando is AWESOME! Again, big portion so can split up over 2 meals. Also tried the spring rolls which were simple with fresh ingredients. Next time I want to try the green curry noodles or pad thai as I've heard they are both delish. read more

I can imagine an alternate universe where I am a happy vegan. But that universe would replace every fast food and quick burger/sandwich place with an outpost of Boo Koo. Tofu Banh Mi, damn skippy. No real need to add a meat to most of the bowls but when I have it's good. If vegan food that tastes good were available everywhere, I could do that. read more

I'm revising this review. We had a bad first experience and tried it again recently and were blown away. The pad Thai is awesome as are the Brussels sprouts and the bun mee sandwich. Nice job on the renovation adding a bar. It's a great view of the park. read more

The two of us came here for lunch on a cool and windy day and were craving pho, so we both ordered the chicken pho. Now, it wasn't the best I've had but it did hit the spot. And I loved the chunks of chicken breast, that was surprisingly tender. We also thoroughly enjoyed one of their homemade sodas, the 'Fuzzy G' and loved that they leave a bottle of water on the table to share. It's the little things right? i've been to this place several times, and the service is always friendly and fast and i always love my food (tofu bahn mi & mushroom soup, even then the soup always needs soysauce & salt), but i've been trying to order food from them for an hour now and no one has answered the phone. it's hard enough getting affordable vegan food in marin without the staff just forgetting about the phone. also, just reading the other orders about the owner's psychotic comments makes me thoroughly disapprove of this place. i want to give them 5 stars, but they need to get their shit together. read more

Gained a star on service and food since the popular restaurant expanded to include sit-down dining. Took a group of friends who ordered a little of everything (including gluten free) and they raved about flavors and freshness. I am loyal to the Thai beef salad. My daughter loves the vegi spring rolls. Delicious beer options. Friendly, easy bar. Great lunch or dinner spot. read more

Waited 35 minutes for a to go order they said would take 5 minutes. Put chicken on my salad that I ordered vegan with tofu. When I gave it back for a new one I could tell they simply picked the chicken off and plopped tofu on top because there was still chicken bits on top!!!!! read more

I want this place to be terrific. I think the atmosphere is great. Very casual but clean and hip AND they have a bar. But the food I've had the three times I've been is mediocre. The curry sauce drowned the vegetables. The noodles were over cooked. The dishes were bland. This time I even asked what the most popular dishes were as I thought maybe I was ordering wrong. But no. Worst Pad Thai I've ever eaten. Maybe I just got it on a bad night, because it had been highly recommended. It was cooked in a heavy gravy sauce that didn't resemble a peanut or other familiar sauce. It was so heavily salted that it was inedible. The wait staff were nice enough. I used to really like this place when you could build your own combos. But now that it's a fixed menu, after this experience I won't be going back. read more

Good food IF you are prepared to wait 20 minutes for a sandwich to go on a Saturday afternoon. Personally I don't have that level of patience for a sandwich and so I suspect my annoyance took away from mmy enjoyment of the food whch was OK but couldd have doe with some more seasoning. I would I've given 4 stars....but is Two loud inside because the kitchen is right on top of you and there is plenty of racket coming out of the kitchen but that being said I enjoyed my food very much..the dishes I had we're Summer roll dipping sauce very tasty..Indo rice bowl everything seemed very fresh in it would have liked a bit more flavor but really no complaints ..spicy ginger beef on a baguette I loved ..to drink mint tea it is Sweet so make sure it goes with the food you order read more

I live in Palo Alto but am in Sausalito when I visit family and boo koo is a short drive away. My favorite item is the mighty mint salad, to which I add chicken. The Thai beef salad is also really good. They're huge and packed with veggies. I like to get a refreshing lime squeeze to go with it. The staff is really friendly and there's not a lot of seating but it's never been a problem. I love the laid back vibes and reggae played. I wish they would open a location on the peninsula! read more

Excited to see some vegan options on the menu. Water had stuff floating in it and a oily film on the top. Cup probably was not washed properly. Pretty disappointed with the Pad Thai (added Tofu) because there was way too much soy sauce and the flavor just wasn't right. Tastes more like pad see ew than pad thai. Wasn't horrible though, just not expected. The mint salad was pretty good except for the hard piece of plastic found after biting into the salad. After calling the server over, he picked it up the plastic, walked over to the manager, after talking to the manager for a few seconds came back and said that's never happened before. The server continued to say it might have resulted from all of the prep earlier that day and he offered to take the salad off the bill or make a new one. When we got the check, the bill was only discounted 25% (less than the value of the salad). In my opinion, the manager should have come over to apologize, remade the salad and taken it off the bill. read more

God made this place for people who like good quality food at a super reasonable price.

If you find one thing you like on this menu, make sure you stick with it and do not stray. In the past few weeks we've gotten take out twice because we were desperate for an easy casual option downtown. Both times were a disaster. First was the recommendation to add a green curry chicken topping to a noodle base that was some kind of mix between a pad thai and a red curry. All I can say was that it was the grossest thing I've ever tasted, it was a giant box of oily noodle with an oily topping and the flavors all clashed with each other. I mean, it was obvious that this would be the case but I wasn't paying attention and took the recommendation. It was absolutely inedible. Then last night I ordered the Sriracha soup with the egg - thinking it would make me feel better after being sick all week. First, it was the saltiest broth I've ever tasted (my husband tasted it first and was going to drive back and return it but I insisted I could make it work)..but no, it was inedible. The egg was hard boiled in that broth which is not good...it means it was sitting there at least 5 minutes longer than before it was given to us (which it took 1/2 hour for the order when he said 10-15 minutes). My husband likes the Ban Mi sandos and they seem fine. I like the plain steamed vegetables and I've ordered the salads and they've been good. If I ever go back I'll stick to those but between the frequent mistakes (at least 1/2 the time our orders are wrong and they don't really seem to care when you call them back to tell them), the wait is insanely long for takeout, and the actual recommended base with toppers are far from being tasty. we need better options in this town. read more

The venue was quaint and provided quick and friendly service. We were expecting food that tasted like Thai food and the food not only tasted nothing like Thai food but was unappetizing as well. We ordered the green curry noodles with green curry chicken. We also ordered the chicken teriyaki bowls. The teriyaki chicken bowls were okay but bland and no flavor. The green curry chicken was covered with cilantro and lime, not custom for Thai food. Also the green curry noodles had a very odd taste that resulted in me only have two bites and being done. Love, love, love this place. I work in the area & come here for lunch at least once a week. Tasty, fresh & reasonably priced. Fairly good variety of asian-inspired food choices. My go to items are the Banh Mi, Thai Beef Salad or the Green Curry Chicken...but I've never been disappointed by anything I've had here. I love the food and the easy relaxed spirit of Boo Koo. The pho & the Bahn Mi is divine. But since they changed to those plastic plates I can't eat here. I can't stand the clatter of them. Food is good. Now the way they run it needs some work. Always hectic, even if the place is half empty. The recent addition of the bar made it more hectic. Really not "comfortable" atmosphere. Salads are really good, but make sure to s-p-e-l-l out excatly what you want it in or not. Triple check your order-things never get delivered or ordered by the waiter. But food is good. read more
