Food always takes so long and is cold makes no sense unless it gets made and just sits back there. The food honestly isn't good either I gave it 3-4 chances an always disappointed. Also people that go here pay attention to your bill they like to add extra charges such as extra drink and chips n dip those add up to be alot I caught it 2 different times. How is this bar still open right now they don't even make people wear mask plus this place is crowded an packed. There not worrying bout people getting sick and catching covid their worries bout themselves so sad I will not be going back to this bar. read more

I checked out this place on a Monday night. Football was on but not a lot going on other then that. The waitress was very attentive service was great friendly and fast. I ordered one of their protein burgers it was good at first but then I think one of the pieces of bacon was cooked on the same grill as some sort of fish. Half the burger was good the other tasted very fishy and I was not able to eat it. They have in their menu a fish burger or something like that. I think it was just cooked way to close to mine. Other then that the place was ok. Again i was in on a Monday night and it was really slow. Just desperate the fish from the burgers from now on please. read more

Usually I would go to this place all the time for their Wednesday karaoke. But the new person that is running it isn't professional. She is having all her friends go on repeat the whole time and she as well is singing with we friends. I have never been so upset there until she has started being their karaoke person. I was their from the start, put my name down for several songs. And whenever her friends went up for the 5th time compared to my second after requsting and waiting for a long time I have decided that the person who does karaoke is someone who shouldn't deserve to be I a business with anyone. Dont offer something to people who are having a good time and paying for it just to have you and your friends go up And sing that anyone else who has been paying good money and time to wait for a turn that won't come. I will never waste my time there again waitijg for some nonsense for 4 hours. PS. The time for karaoke starts at 10 AMD I put my name down as soon as that became available and I was waiting for 4 hours just to sing the songs I wanted to sing. Never go to bookies on a Wednesday to sing karaoke, unless you want to be disappointed and wait for the favoritism to be dropped down cause as long as the person is running the karaoke is the second chubby brunette girl I will never participate in their eventt ever. read more

Hands down the best sports bar in the 209! What makes Bookies stand out to me is the pride and effort the owners put into this place. The staff is professional and goes out of their way to provide great customer service. They show all of the main events and sports games and serve delicious food to complement their cold beers. They also have fun themed events like bingo night and beer pong night which are a blast to attend. My personal favorite experience was my last visit when they allowed us to take a shot-ski and play with their giant jenga! Terrible service and food. Went there yesterday for lunch. We ordered our food and even though there were only a total of 3 other customers in the place it took nearly half an hour before we got our food. I had a chili dog which stated in the menu that the hot dog would be "smothered" in chili, mine had maybe 2 tablespoons of chili. Really disappointing. I won't be going back there any time soon. read more

This is my favorite bar. The food is amazing and the drinks are always great. Everyone is super friendly and polite. Its that perfect corner of a buzzy bar where you feel part of the action, but can actually have a conversation. Where you can still hear the music but you don't have to raise your voice above it. Where there's a genuine atmosphere but you can still get a seat (normally). Where the lighting is soft but you can read the menu without whipping out your smartphone. They have different drink specials every night as well as food specials ! Definitely recommend this place ! read more

Love this bar! Super convenient location, especially since it's only a 5 min walk from my home. They have amazing customer service, I have even had other staff members come up and talk to us even though they weren't waiting on me. Amazing atmosphere. Prices are great and they always have deals. The food is what keeps you coming back! So so so so unique and tasteful! Ugh the food is amazing, you must try! What can I say about Bookies, it's a chill bar that has only one real flaw, it's too small. I went for a sports event and there was no real places to sit, bumping into people, was very crammed. But put that one issue aside and it's great, the waitresses and bartenders interact with every customer, there's karaoke and great daily specials to boot, highly recommended if not busy. read more

I have never wanted to actually review a place on Yelp but last night was a first for me. I made an account just for this abomination. I live right across the street and have been in a few times. I went in last night after work at 1am just trying to have a couple drinks and unwind. I knew they closed soon and that is why I was trying to have my drinks timely. There was maybe 12 total customers and 2 bartenders( there was actually 3 but i learned from another patron that the third bartender had been at a table with some guys for about an hour). I got a beer that was on sale (Lagunitas) and 2 mixed drinks, one for me and my girlfriend. The bartender, who I learned was named Chelsea, then disappeared to the other side of the bar to talk and drunkenly dance to music that was playing. After vocally yelling "HEY" before she began doing her job again and asked me what I needed followed by a veey my "My name is Chelsea by the way so youre not just yelling." I got one more mixed drink for my girlfriend. About 10 minutes had passed and I wanted another drink for myself. I had to stand up to make myself more visible, but to no avail. I stood there waving my arm just watching the bartenders dance on each other and Chelsea wouldnt stop playing some man's hat. She then began yelling "Alright LAST CALL EVERYONE 5 MINUTES" so I yell "Yes over here!" then she finally comes over to me and asks what I will have but before I can answer she says "Oh wait, we don't serve alcohol anymore its "1:55" I wish I would have checked my phone at the time because I got home and it was 1:46am, not 1:55. I was of course angry and said I've been trying to get a drink for 10 minutes but she and every other bartender have been over there dancing and not doing their jobs. Not only that but she just said it was "last call" 2 seconds before I asked for a drink. She was very rude saying "Actually I looked at you multiple times so if youre angry you can go ahead and leave." Very unprofessional service and it is extremely unethical to be letting your bartenders get so drunk their belligerent and stumbling around. I am fairly sure the owner or manager was sitting beside me the whole time and did nothing. I think he was the owner because as they were dancing and singing they saw him and said "Don't be mad at us Ryan" to which he responded "No, you girls have your fun tonight" After my spat with the bartender he got up and went behind the bar as I left. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It is an okay bar with okay prices and mediocre food, but the staff is absolutely terrible. All 3 girls working last night were trash. They have little gangsters working in the kitchen. Everything about this place is terrible except for the sign out front. There are way better options in modesto to choose if you are wanting to go out and drink. read more

We walked into Bookies about 4:45 pm and it was full however there was strange looking people hanging out outside. We noticed there was no tables so we thought we would look around to see if there was a table for 2 somewhere. The place is small and absolutely no decor whatsoever. We stood therefor about 10-15 min and not one employee said hello to us or even came near us. We walked around saw a couple of women with tank tops on and bikini bottoms or short shorts that said "Bookies Babes" on the front of the tank. They saw us but not one said hello or can I help you. So after waiting for 10-15 minutes we walked out and went else where. We will never come back to this place. We are not the type of people who ever judge anyone by their cover but this place seems "ghetto" with ghetto hood rats as their patrons. Thanks but no thanks. If I could give this place zero stars i would it's sad we never even got to try the food let alone look at a menu. We don't ever mind waiting but a simple "hello we will be right with you" would have had us stuck around. read more

Great food! We had the fish & chips & it was delicious! If you check in on Facebook you get a free order of Parmesan Potato Wedges & they were so yummy! Music was good & not blaring. Customer service was awesome. They all made you feel like you were special. We will be back for sure!! There's a huge protein burger that we want to try & share! Super fun place!! Pros: Great bartenders. Good specials. The food is super delicious. My personal favorites are chili fries (homemade secret chili) and bacon jalapeño poppers!! sometimes they have live bands. If you love sports come here they have a bunch of tvs. Not many cons: gets super crowded, sometimes can't find a place to sit. Great atmosphere, jazz music being played and great flat screen TV's. We went in with our family this weekend for lunch. All the food was amazing! The burgers are juicy and full of flavor. Went here a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the food. The hamburger I had was very delicious and HUGE. Had great flavor. My wife had a ceasar salad and found it to be fair. The ceasar dressing was a little on the bland side, but probably safe for most. We tend to like our ceasar dressing to be tangy. The service was very good with no complaints. The ONLY reason I gave them a 4 stars, rather than a 5 is that the beer was not cold. it wasnt warm, but it wasnt ice cold like all beer should be. THey have to get this fixed. The colder the beer, the faster it gets drank, the more the patrons will drink. MAKE THE BEER ICE COLD! :) read more
