Dang. I'm so disappointed that another new joint didn't meet my expectation at all. I'm gonna give 3 stars in hopes they will improve. I'm all for supporting mom and mop joint but when they are not up to par, hope the proprietor will make improvements. Pro: lots of hard liquor option and several unique draft too. Dragons milk on tap? Wow. Friendly server too. Good draft price. Cons: 1. Fries and onion rings: came out darker. Due to old oil? 2. Cheese melt (Safe Play): wow, pretty bad. No buttery flavor, very dry and appears to have two different type of cheese slices on 3 slices of bread (kudo). 3. Burger (Bookmaker) portion was big but pattie was the type that's pre-made. No flavor at all. Had to put lots of ketchup and mustard. 4. Buns: soggy. Buns are key to any establishment doing burgers! I ordered the BBQ burger, which was Smokey and tangy with a bit of sweetness. The waitress was perfectly attentive and kind and smiled. I upgraded to the balsamic vinegar blue cheese fries, which were terrific. The place was quiet and didn't fill the air with unesasarrily loud music. They had a couple of seasonal beers, but the mainstay was the bourbon and whiskey option, which were plentiful and varied. I didn't have a chance to try at this, though. It is so very rare that I do a negative review for service. I figure everybody has an off day so it has to be pretty bad for me to do so. That is the circumstance here! I love supporting small local businesses. We didn't know where to eat and of course I consulted Yelp. We were actually looking for a decent happy hour but I was intrigued by the concept and offerings here. We walked down and the sign told us to seat ourselves so we did. There aren't many tables, probably due to covet, and the restaurant was maybe half full. There were two servers working the restaurant. We sat... And. We looked at the menu online had decided what we wanted for food and drink. It was 10 minutes later when I looked at my girlfriend and asked, "Can we leave now?" At no point in time did anyone even walk up to our table. We did sit and watch as the servers visited other tables on more than one occasion. It truly was like we were invisible. One would think even if they were busy that someone would have approached and said, "I'll be with you in just a moment to take your drink order." But nope! Too bad... I would think any establishment would want as much business as they could get! read more

My wife and I drove all the way from Castle Rock to check out Bookmakers yesterday. We had seen the reviews and heard about how amazing the burgers and onion rings were so we decided to give you a try. We ordered one cheese burger - well-done - and asked them if they were able to cut the burger in half. We asked for it to be cut in half so that we could share it and also so that they could easily see if the burger was cooked as we ordered it. We also ordered onion rings. The lady who took the order said that that could indeed split the burger and verified that the burger would be cooked well-done. When we picked our order up 15 minutes later as directed and drove away. When we stopped to eat our food, we found the burger had not been cut in half; and, when we cut into it, we found it to be not just pink, but bloody all the way through. We were so disappointed! And, those onion rings? They were almost cold and definitely not crispy! This is not the customer service or food that we expected. Not sure why we would ever go back for a second try. And, definitely cannot recommend Bookmakers Burgers Bourbon and Brews to our friends and family. read more

First of all FIVE star service our service was amazing I wish I would have caught her name but let the FIVE stars speak for you!! My wife and I each had one of their tasty burgers. The ground beef patty had a ton of flavor and thought the toasted bun added a lot to the taste. My wife had a green chili burger and the only flaw in our experience was the fact that it was totally lacking in green chili. Here we go again, another 5 star review. Well, I can't help it when the dining experience is 5 stars all around. Of course, service was spectacular. The bartender, Kacey, was super friendly and really fun. The burger (with cheddar and thick cut bacon) was a top 5 burger, no question. The beef, cheese, bacon, and the bun all screamed quality. Most importantly (to me, anyways) is the bourbon and whiskey selection. They have everything (even Pappy, if your pompous). I found the prices more than reasonable for the food and beverages. We stopped in at Bookmakers Burgers + Bourbon + Brews for lunch today and weren't disappointed. They have a great selection of burgers on the menu or you can create your own. The burgers come with fries which were average. I ordered onion rings rather than fries and the rings were great. My wife had sweet potato fries with her burger and she said they were good. DH said they needed more sauce and were also a disappointment to him! 2). Cheese Fries barely had any cheese and certainly not crispy. 3). My burger was well done, which obviously not what I requested. It seemed as if all bacon additions were again just not recently fried or warm+. 4). Usual runny yellow egg, as if hard boiled, not runny and in general ruined the burger. The onion rings were only thing that was satisfactory. I came here with my wife and two kids in hopes of getting a quick bite to eat before going grocery shopping. I had scoped this place out ahead of time and was looking forward to chowing down on some burgers. The dining room was fairly small, but they seemed to be able to accommodate groups by pushing tables together as needed. They were extremely busy and we waited about 30 minutes to be seated. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Our 2 year old daughter was beginning to get hangry and he expedited an order of pretzels for us so we could keep her at bay. I ordered The Collector and my wife did a build your own type of burger. Both came out fairly fast given how busy the restaurant was. Both burgers were good, but they seemed like they were missing something. The patty was huge and good quality meat, but I think it could benefit from some additional seasoning. They also had a huuuuge selection of bourbon and beer to choose from. Additionally, they had 8 televisions playing sports channels. You can definitely tell this is a hot spot during football season. This is a nice spot! The decor sets a nice tone and they do a good job with such a small space. I thoroughly enjoyed my cobb salad-the toppings were separated out but easy to mix together and each high-quality on its own, and dressing was left on the side so you can have it to your taste-and the others in my party are always happy with the assorted burgers and beer selection. It was too noisy to hold a conversation (~6pm on a Friday night), and because of the small space, if you're going for more of a sitdown experience (as opposed to a sports bar) it's tough as there are TVs everywhere vying for your attention. read more

I went over the weekend with my wife and three year old and saw a few other families with children so they're great accommodating families which from the front I wasn't assuming they would be. The name of the restaurant includes Bourbon - while the bartender was very nice and extremely customer service focused - she knew nothing about the dozens of bourbon and whiskey the offer - seems like one of the first interview questions? what is your knowledge of whiskey? none.. ok maybe some training before throwing her behind the bar! I've been going here a few months now and I've never had a bad time. In fact I even left my credit card there once, they kept it and I got it back within a few days. I've always been very happy with the service, and if you go during happy hour it's $12 for a hamburger, side and a beer. Which I love my IPA! The best one is probably the barbecue in my opinion. It's a smaller restaurant and most of the seating is really at high chairs at the bar. I've noticed that it's normally a little bit on the chilly side as well.
