Food continues to be great, but the beer selection is always terrible when we visit. We travel down from Colorado about twice a year to visit home, and always go to our favorite place, which is this establishment. But whenever we order, our first 2-3 beer selections are always out. Not sure if management is trying to save a dime and just using a first come first serve method, but that ain't working. Hope this changes the next time we visit home. read more

Boons is my absolute favorite spot in the Clear Lake area! Boons is just a few miles from my house and we are frequent visitors to this spot. Everything on the menu is great- I always start with pizza chips and of course a beer. They have a great selection of beers, but also have a full bar! For the menu, everything is great! The pizzas are always delicious, salads are amazing, nachos are phenomenal! So many delicious options off the menu! And again, the vast beer selection! The service is always great- I think everyone there has waited on us and we've always received good service. If the weather is nice, sit out on the patio, if not grab a seat inside with the pub like atmosphere! I came here on a Monday after going to two other restaurants that closed on Mondays and I'm glad I found this place. They have a great beer selection that includes dozens of microbrews on draft. The food menu is nice as well and is made of of pizzas, burgers, and steaks. I ordered the Tejas pizza that was topped with chorizo and mouth watering goat cheese on a crisp thin crust. We sat outside on the patio and the service was fast and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. read more

Great pub in Seabrook! We went for dinner for my bday. Very casual attire, atmosphere. It was very loud inside. There is outdoor seating as well. Pizza (the Robusto ) was brick oven and really good. Spinach salad has carrot, tomato, mushroom, pinenuts and their vinagrette. Was really good. They have a large selection of beer. I tried the Breckenridge Vanilla Porter which was really good. M went with the usual Miller Lite. Pizza, small salad and 2 beers ran us $25. Great food, service, atmosphere. Place was packed. We will be back. read more

Boondoggle's is a great casual place to meet up with friends. I love the bar area for an intimate setting if I am just going out with my husband. The outdoor area is great when the weather has cooled off. The drink selection is wide, and their food is delicious. I love their fried pickles, burgers, and poboys. We had the wings to start. Half order of Chipotle and half order of Buffalo they were both really good. We enjoyed the Chipotle sauce the best out of both. For our order we got the Reuben with fries and the black and bleu burger. The Reuben really knocked it out of the park it was really good; however, the burger was a disappointment what sounded good on the menu didn't in my mouth. The kettle chips are better then the fries. I came here on a Thursday night with two friends of mine to grab some beer and food. Upon entering, we were greeted by a seemingly disinterested and unenthusiastic host who showed us to our seats and gave us some menus. There weren't too many people around at this time - maybe around 6:30 PM - but there was still a good crowd going (some families with children). The waiter came around later to get us started out on drinks. He was very attentive and gave great suggestions and got our drinks out to us in decent time. There's a decent sized list of beers on tap - not the most extensive I've seen, but there's enough on there. He later took our food orders as well. Beer was great. Food was ok but not great. My black and blue burger was cooked a little more than I would have liked and I could hardly taste the blue cheese. I had a fun time here talking and hanging out with my friends though. By the time we left, there was a good crowd going and it was getting pretty loud (but we could still hear each other as we were talking to each other at the table). Oh: they had a special going on for snow crab legs when I went this past week. Great server. Hostile hostess. Good beer. Okay food. read more

Beer menu is nothing but IPA selections...This used to be a favorite spot given a very wide selection but sadly, no longer. Won't go back for a while to see if they can get back to being a real beer bar. Food still good and pizza excellent. Hope it can return to past levels that would pack the place every nite. read more

I've never sat inside Boondoggle's because it often smells fishy inside, but I love their patio with a nice little view of the bay! Nice craft beer selection for the area, only bested by Nobi Public House. Most of their beers can be purchased at Spec's so unless you're feeling like paying double or triple for a beer out with your buds, I wouldn't bother. Consistently good service and knowledgeable servers. Great tasting pizzas, bruschetta, and fried pickles. The nachos are kind of meh. They skimp a bit on the pizza toppings- particularly the Primavera. I expected a veggie-loaded pie, but mine arrived with a very scant amount of zucchini and mushrooms which were very finely chopped and piled in the middle. I suspect they may be using a frozen mix. For $11, I certainly expected more. I feel that this place is a bit overpriced for the type of food served. The quality is relatively high, but it's not a place I can afford to go to often. read more

We went there last night on a Thursday for the snow crab and I must say, this was absolutely, hands down, without a doubt the WORST crab we have ever had in our life. No joke, over cooked and dry. The meat would not come out and was a major chore. We left there and went to another restaurant. Very bad experience. I gave it one star just so I can post. read more

I have been a customer at boondoggles for over 10 years until tonight I received a pizza that I did not get what I ordered and then saw the bartender get a pizza that was supreme compared to mine and I asked the bartender Tonya what do I have to do to get a pizza like that and she said work here or know the cook are you telling me that the staff gets better food then the customers how sad is that I will never darken their door again yes it's a great location but they don't care about their customers read more

This place used to be good and fairly priced. Not anymore.. First of all, the only appealing thing boondoggle had to offer is the large selection of beer on tap but the food was also good a couple years ago which made it a quality place to be anytime of year. Even in winter you could sit outside with infrared and tube flame heaters, no heat now. However, you can no longer get a large quality glass of beer for a fair price. Infact the glasses shrank for the good beers and price went up! Obviously there are no longer big dog beers for the quality micro brews. You can get a six pack from specs for the price of one beer here and they no longer flush and maintain the beer taps & lines. Foul taste and flat suds. MAINTAIN YOUR TAPS! The food is not any good now either. Ive ordered a few of my old favorites here recently and it was basically frozen food walmart quality. What happened to this place? Even the old friendly staff of many years are gone now. My last visit today, I watched them refuse service to a nice family because the waitress startled thier poodle and it barked. Dogs bark, duh. Seemed like no big deal to me but wow the waitress made a scene! I guess its a no dog policy now? Anyway, this place is not fun or friendly anymore and the food and drink are bad and expensive to boot. read more

Went here for lunch and sat out on the little patio. I got the chicken bacon swiss sandwich and it was delicious (even though they forgot the bacon the first time)! Pups are allowed out on the patio (always a plus to me) and our server was very nice. Very near the waterfront so there is a bit of a breeze. read more

The service here was great! There appeared to be a lot of regulars here, and I recognize this place has been around for years. I got the fish and chips which I was told is amazing and my husband got the pizza. Fish and chips was meh, the fish was not crunchy enough for my liking. The pizza was phenomenal and was inhaled! One thing to note was that the kitchen closed an hour before the bar and we did not realize that when we arrived. We were rushed to order because of this. When the pizza is done right, it's one of the best in Texas. At times it hasn't been for me. Other than that the food is above average. The Beer is fresh but the place smells a little. The crowd is alright sometimes a little old. Stay away from the old men at the bar that want to debate politics. They do that all of the time. I've had the brick oven pizza many of times, tried plenty of flavors and I enjoyed every one of them. The place is geared more for people but I've seen pets taking their place out in the patio and being served a cold drink of water. I love dogs but I'm not to sure about having fido doing his impersonation of Snots yaking under the table. (Seen that happen, wasn't to hungry after that). This place was recommended by my older brother, I personally don't want to come here ever again. First, it's hard to get in because it's always packed. Only private parties get it easy. Second, it gets very loud in this place even if there is no game playing on the TVs. Me and my brother saw they serve popcorn on request, but it's not on the menu so first timers like myself may not know and miss out if they want some. Third, their menu wasn't that special, except for the pizza. I loved how they cook their pizza in a brick oven. Still, that's not enough to have me come back. Finally, their desserts are also limited and average. I actually don't care for sports or alcohol. Overall, this place just doesn't suit me, but for other people who love pubs, give this place a try. read more

The waitress seemed a bit impatient with our table for having a slight hesitation trying to order saying next if you didn't immediately say what you were ordering, I saw atleast 7 roaches in the bathroom and coming out of the kitchen, which completely ruined my appetite. Great beer selection. Seasonals also. You have to try a pizza...wood burning oven. I love the patio in the summer and the fireplace in the winter. The service is really good.
