We actually liked both of them, but definitely an experience! The one piece of spam is enormous! It was smothered in a spicy red hot sauce which I didn't love and the sausage tasted to me like a microwaved hotdog...maybe normal? ‍ I don't know. I did love the rice cake with it but wiped off the sauce to enjoy it. I also ordered a side of ramen noodles. That I loved but that's pretty standard. Kevin, the guy who brought us Zu Izakaya, Zu & Pocha, Bei, and other great eateries around the valley also brings us Pocha 54 Korean Tapas. We had just gotten done with the USA TODAY Wine & Food Experience when we wanted a bit of time to unwind before heading home. Having had this place on our radar for the longest time, the six of us popped in for some tapas despite being full of spirits and small bites. No regrets though because everything was amazing. I can't even begin to tell you what all was had but every plate was cleared and enjoyed. I especially liked the Gochujang Garlic Shrimp! This is a super cute place with ample patio seating. This is one of my husband and I current favorite date spot to hit up. It's inviting, good vibes, and nice service. I don't have to get super dressed up, but feel like I'm a bit more upscale than chipotle or chilis (there is nothing wrong with these places either, but not my ideal date night). Here you have a menu of several different Korean tapas and it's perfect to order a few and share. Everything we've gotten has been very good and anything with the melted cheese is great, especially the corn and naan! We weren't the biggest fans of the spicy ramen, it tasted too similar to ramen I could get at the market, grocery store, or online. Seemed like a little spicier cup of noodles with different garnish. That is the only reason I give a 4/5 vs 5/5. Other than that, still a favorite spot to visit, for a good, fun and comfortable date night. read more

What a hidden gem! This Korean tapas place was soooooooo good. We tried several items from the happy hour menu. The chicken Mandu (pan fried dumplings were delicious and the sauce was great). We also enjoyed the padak (kind of like a chicken nugget with a nice sauce) and the tofu steak. The Korean spicy ramen was so good with the perfect level of spice. Tonight ended up being a very enjoyable evening thanks to an impromptu visit to Pocha 54. My husband and I were in the area, because I was getting some ski bindings mounted to my new skis and looking for something good to eat. I love Italian food, sushi, and Mediterranean, but I was craving something with flavor and something different. This place really hit that spot. Everyone is so warm and welcoming here, which is perfect because we were trying to avoid the pretentiousness of nearby restaurants. This one takes a modern twist on traditional Korean foods, and makes it tapas style so you can share with whoever you're with. The Gochujang brussel sprouts were the first dish to come out. Slightly spicy but full of flavor. This was one of our favorites! The Kimchi fried rice was tasty being flavored with kimchi and I loved the fact there was spam in it, since I grew up eating spam. The egg with garlic really made this dish especially savory. Gochujang garlic shrimp. I guess there's a theme here. We like some spiciness with garlic. It wasn't too spicy though. It was just right for me. Bryan always likes his food extra spicy but we could've asked for hot sauce if needed. The shrimp was nice and crispy even with the Gochujang sauce and never got soggy. Bryan ate most of the shrimp- tail and all since it was so crispy. Bulgogi Mushroom Pot with glass noodles. The broth is so yummy. It was one of my favorites. I may be partial though since I love mushrooms and the broth so much with the glass noodles. With the weather being cooler outside, having this savory soup warm you up felt so perfect. The corn cheese and naan felt like an appetizer type dish. The corn tasted a little on the sweeter side, so the garlic naan really balanced the flavors out. This was a unique one. We tried some Soju bombs, which were really good. I also tried the mule with a hint of cucumber. Really refreshing. They also gave us Soju Mojito drinks which was equally refreshing and enjoyable. Overall, I'm so excited we discovered this place! We live in the far NW valley but I'd say it is worth the drive to come back. I can't wait to tell my friends that we have a new happy hour spot or late night hang out place. We are definitely missing something like this modern Korean fare in the west valley. read more

Pocha 54 Korean Tapas Small restaurant bar or should I say bar restaurant. About 5 to 6 tables for seating along with around 10 bar spots with some outside seating. Sotteok Kochi is a Korean Rice Cake, pork sausage skewering sweet gochjang, enjoyed the pork sausage, the sweet gochjang was a different taste and texture. Bulgogi Mushroom Pot bulgogi, shitake mushrooms, glass noodles, scallion and onion was a nice dish, the broth is excellent which is an important detail for me with a generous amount of bulgogi and clear noodles. Highly recommend this dish, plus good to share with all the different tapas. K-Taco we had the bulgogi protein with onions and stir fry Tapas were a good size taco that came in two. Good dish to try and complimentary tapa Soy Garlic Chicken Wings roasted wings, soy garlic sauce and coleslaw comes with 6 wings were okay, were they the best KFC wings, probably not but pretty good tasting sauce. Crispy Mayo Shrimp Crispy shrimp, sweet mayo, iceberg lettuce with parsley was probably the best dish done very well. Get this dish. Corn Cheese and Naan sweet corn kernals, diced onions, mozzarella cheese with garlic naan. Came in for dinner with a friend last night & was able to be seated quickly. They do take reservations online, which is very convenient but I was fortunate enough to snag a table without one. Menu cleverly has prices ending in ".54" Service was attentive. When asked if we were ordering enough & told her what we were looking at, she agreed that would or should be enough. But it's tapas, you can always order more. The portions, for tapas, I thought were a bit large but it was definitely enough for the two of us. We received our order promptly. The corn cheese I thought could be a little hotter & cheese meltier, but overall was enjoyable. The edamame had a nice little kick & the bowl it came in was super cute with its kitty outlines. For the tacos, we ordered pork as the meat and it was delicious. The bulgogi was also nicely seasoned. The kimchi that accompanied the meats was also well seasoned. My friends and I were actually going to happy hour at cook and craft but they closed for two days due to some issues and it was so disappointing so we walked around and saw this new place on high street and there was no wait. We got seated right away and got ice cold water in these metal cups which made it taste even colder. And on a hot day, it was so refreshing. We received the menus right away and got their happy hour soju. We ordered tropical and peach, shared between 4 people was plenty! There was no food on happy hour which is why I rated this place as a 4. Only drinks were offered on happy hour. I think it would be a good idea to add a couple things of food or smaller bites on happy hour with their drinks. We did order food and it all came at a good time, great temperature and very flavorful. The spam was super thick and we got quite a bit, which was nice! This is definitely a good place to try!
