Best Korean place in the area! My boyfriend and I have been eating here for the past few years and we are NEVER disappointed by their food. The restaurant is owned by a husband and wife; and they are absolutely amazing. The husband does his best to communicate with all his customers in-between cooking the meals. We recommend you try all of their dishes if you ever have the opportunity to do so! Our favorites are the fried dumplings, bulgogi bibimbap, bulgogi & rice, seafood fried rice, and their broth dishes as well. Even though the restaurant is quite small, the food and service make up for it. They usually play Korean Dramas on the tv and it makes the restaurant feel more homey rather than just having music playing like a typical restaurant. We recommend that you call ahead of time to reserve a table as well. I really like ordering takeout at this restaurant! They are friendly and courteous. The food is delicious!! I enjoy the pork bulgogi and fried chicken appetizer. My only request is for more white rice because the portion isn't big enough for the bulgogi since you get a lot of meat. I really appreciate the customer service every time I get served over there or someone takes my order. They are very nice and I genuinely care about you as a customer. The bibim-bop was so good you get the option of it being served on a hot stone or regular plate and I went with the hot stone. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Bop Joa is a cute little Korean restaurant with a variety of things on their menu. I came here on Wednesday for dinner with my cousin. The place was empty when we got there. Food -- They have so many dishes to pick from. Everything we ordered was a much bigger size than we expected, so we had lots of leftovers which was great. Jajangmyeon (4/5): Classic black bean noodle dish. Tteokbokki (4/5): I was expecting the cylinder shaped tteokbokki, but this one actually uses the cut oval shaped ones. It was a bit soupier than I liked, but still good. Kimchi potato wedges (4/5): The biggest potato wedges I've ever had topped with kimchi + cheese, great app to share. Bulgogi cheese fried rolls (4/5): I was curious what this was, and this is basically japchae + cheese wrapped in a spring roll paper and fried! Love the crunch. Service -- So we didn't realize because of COVID, reservations were needed in advance to dine-in for social distancing purposes. I went in to ask the owner if we could get a table anytime soon since there currently wasn't anyone in the restaurant. He said if we waited a couple minutes, he would make a table for us. Korean fusion done right! This place is run by individuals who provide amazing service. Despite the fusion aspect, it's not hard to detect authentic Korean flavors. They have been requiring reservations due to the pandemic so would be best to call ahead before coming in. I usually get the soon tofu soup, level spicy, with pork. We started with the Korean fried chicken which is deliciously crispy with a sauce that comes with it that's equally good. My wife had the bulgogi with rice platter marinated beef. Went for lunchtime and had the ddukbokki and the Bibim-bop - both were really really good. The ddukbokki is cut thin and perfectly absorbs the sauce. If you try the bibim-bop, try the hot stone version for some tasty crispy rice. The owner here is really a delight too. We got to chatting and he shared the story of him and his wife starting this restaurant. They have a lot of great ideas about how to make these classic dishes with the freshest ingredients. Absolutely fantastic food. The owner is very eager to talk about food with the customers. As people with no experience in Korean food, it was very appreciated, and he seemed to really respect that we were trying something new. I was most blown away by the soybean paste that came with the Bulgogi, and will have to learn to make it for myself. This is one of the quietest restaurants I've ever been to. I highly appreciate the way the walls and ceiling are tiled -- there are almost no reverberations at all. The ambiance was about 57db. I ordered the Dduk bokki, mild spicy. Although the flavor was great, it was *not* what I'd consider "mild". At first I assumed it was just my weak tolerance for spice. Then I traded dishes with my father, a man who often eats spicy food, and watched as he was transformed into a sweaty mess. Great little family run, authentic Korean kitchen - they are open for 4 months now. Nice clean facility with a cute interior design. My medium spicy seafood tofu soup (soondubu) was actually spicy! And good! It didn't come with an egg as I am used to. Portions are generous. There is enough to share the dish or bring some home. Service is attentive and quick. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. The restaurant was completely empty during lunch time and I felt bad for them. Hopefully they will be able to get more customers in the nearest future. First tip, make a reservation to dine in! My husband and I visited on Saturday night. We ordered the seafood soondubu, seafood pancake and bulgolgi japchae. It was all so good and flavorful! My husband loved the bulgolgi japchae and said it was the best he's ever had. It came with lettuce and soybean paste and the owner showed my husband how to make a wrap with it. Service was amazing! The beef bibimbap is great as is the kimchi and other side items. The seafood one is not so much. The only complaint I have is that the cook burns the heck out of the fried egg so much so that the edges and bottom are almost like a brown plastic wrapper on the bottom. It was all delicious but the broth in the soup really stole the show! It came with all the sides too - great kimchi! The owner was very friendly and patiently took us through the menu as we were not familiar with Korean cuisine. I've eaten here a few times now and it's become a staple in where my mom and I like to have lunch dates! The owners of this little establishment are so sweet, and they do their best to make you feel welcome. As of right now, they are requesting you call ahead of time (an hour) and make a reservation so they can practice social distancing with their patrons! If you get ANYTHING here, get the spicy seafood bibimbap. I've had the traditional bibimbap a million times but I've never seen a spicy seafood version of it. Honestly, this dish alone gives Bop Joa their 4 stars. I've also tried their tofu soup, spicy rice cakes, and seafood pancake - they're pretty subpar. Definitely not the best I've had, and I probably wouldn't order them again. The tofu soup and the spicy rice cakes lacks flavor while the seafood pancake is too much chives and flour, not enough seafood and flavor. But their spicy seafood bibimbap packs a punch of flavor, is super filling, and is just SO good! I definitely think about it at least once a week! You can even make it even more spicy (which I always do) and just have your stomach cry later. I never regret the tears though - I'd do it over and over again for their spicy seafood bibimbap. read more
