We highly recommend Borgfeld Bistro Asian Kitchen. It is a bit of a drive to get to since it is near Bulverde. We about 13 miles from there but still will go there every week or two. The Sweet and Sour Chicken is crispy. The Mongolian Beef is the right level of spicy for the majority of people. The General Tso's Chicken is tasty and easily the best I have had since the last time I was in Manhattan. The egg rolls are crispy and wonderful. I also highly recommend the fried dumplings, lovely warm comforting pillows of fried dough. It is togo only but well worth the drive. I am definitely going back for more. If it was served at a buffet, that would be the only thing I would eat. The only thing that I would change is the rice portion. It was too small of a serving. They only offer Togo but I highly recommend their food. Delicious and clean with fresh ingredients. I have never had a wilted or brown vegetable. My personal favorites are the Mongolian beef and Szechuan shrimp but everything is tasty! The Togo service is quick and easy. Nice location, great tasting food, clean facilities, friendly staff. We were greeted kindly when we came in and noticed the staff acknowledging and apologizing for wait times. Such a nice touch of positive customer service. Note that there's no seating at the restaurant and the restrooms were not open for public use. Since they are advertised as a to-go, this makes sense. I'm sure it also cuts down on costs because entrees were only $11-13 which is practically impossible nowadays. We ordered the shrimp fried rice, beef pepper steak, combination noodles, and chicken with broccoli. We also had cheese puffs and egg rolls. Both stayed crispy on the 40-minute or so drive home and plating. The food was fresh and tasty! The vegetables looks fresh and were cut to perfect size. A month later and still delicious! I called in a to-go lunch order at noon. Was told 10-15 minutes and when I arrived 15 mins later, it was ready to go. Tried their Triple Delight lunch special this time, which came with fried rice and an egg roll. Added H & S soup. Everything was still piping hot when I got home 15 minutes later. It seems like they've upped the flavor & spice level on the H & S soup as it was better than last time. The sauce in the Triple was plentiful and flavorful. The plump shrimp and chicken slices were perfect. I'm not a fan of Chinese beef or the white mushrooms, so I just pushed that onto my partner's plate. The rest of the vegetables (broccoli, carrots, baby corn) were cooked nicely. You're probably asking yourself, "if this crazy lady doesn't like beef, then why did she order the Triple?" The answer is because it's got all the vegetables that I like! =] My only wish is that they'd find a way to offer soup with the lunch specials. It could even just be a half-serving of the regular size, in a smaller container. Charge a small $0.50 fee for to-go orders (like other places do) to offset the cost of packaging - it's a lot of containers with to-go orders! Another reviewer said that calling this place a "bistro" was a misnomer. The very definition of bistro is "small restaurant," so....I guess "small" is a very relative term? My husband and I were excited to see a new Asian restaurant in our neighborhood. We came for lunch on day 2 of the grand opening. It was not crowded but had a steady flow of traffic. I was a little crestfallen to see it was not really a bistro at all but rather a carry out style Asian restaurant. There are a few tables set up if you want to dine in but most of the people were placing carry out orders. We decided to do the same thing and get our order to go. The young lady who took our order was friendly and we chatted a few minutes while waiting for our food. Since the previous reviews mentioned how good the General Tso's chicken was I figured it would be a good choice. It was just mediocre. The sauce had minimal spice and flavor and the chicken was on the dry side. My husband's sesame chicken was better but still not what I would call great. Hot and sour soup had a nice consistency and big pieces of tofu but was lacking any distinct flavor. Fried rice was fresh and plentiful but again was lacking any spices and tasted flat. I added soy sauce which helped but normally don't have to do that. The egg rolls were tasty and probably the best part of the meal. They were meaty, full of flavor, and the outer wrap had that nice crunch. Overall Borgfeld Bistro has potential and being close to the house is a plus. If there was ever a place you wanted to go after work to satisfy an Asian craving for food, this is absolutely the first place I would want to go! They closed the eat-in portion of the restaurant, so it's only takeout, but Susan, the owner, is so nice and hospitable. The food was fresh and extremely tasty. After taking my order, she (Susan) went to the back, and I saw the chef cutting fresh vegetables and throwing them in a wok. I recommend a dish called crispy beef - a perfect blend of flavors with a hint of heat, fresh celery, and carrots. I thought I took pictures of my meal, but apparently I didn't. Next Time! read more

Just moved to the area and found this little gem!! We have ordered here probably 5 or 6 times since moving about 2.5 weeks ago lol. Everything is very good. We usually get the sesame chicken, general tso's chicken, sweet and sour pork lunch special. I REALLY wish the orange chicken came in a lunch special because I ordered it last night (extra spicy) and it is the best orange chicken I've ever had (that says a LOT...). When I asked what kind of soups they had, they didn't mention it, but I asked about it because another Yelper had uploaded a pic a while back.
