I recently purchased a used 2013 Ford Fusion from Borgman Ford with less than 15,000 miles on it. I was underwhelmed at the customer service at Borgman Ford, as I never felt like they cared about me as a customer at all. I understand being a salesman is a difficult position to be in while you're trying to get the best price out of a customer and also treat them well so they come back to you... but I never felt like they cared even a little bit that I was there. I test drove the car three times and had a former mechanic (my father) come with me to the dealership the second time in order to check the car and be sure it didn't have any huge issues. The car had minor body damage on the front right and rear left bumper areas, but there was no mention of any accident (or ANY service for that matter) on the provided CarFax. When mentioned to Matt (the salesman) he sort of shrugged his shoulders. Before I had said I wanted the car, I asked them to run my credit and show me what rates they could give me on a loan. Matt asked "so you want the car then?" ...He wanted me to commit to the car before he ran my rates. I told him "I want the car, otherwise I wouldn't be here, but I would be crazy to commit to the car before you show me the rates you can offer me." He said "well I don't want to do the work and run your credit if you're not going to buy the car." I was extremely put off by this. I know he was doing everything he could to get me to sign, but he went about it in an embarrassing way. I told him the price I was willing to pay, and he said he would run my credit and call me the next day. I secured a loan with my Credit Union at a great rate and had no intention of financing through the dealership who had gained absolutely none of my trust at this point... but I wasn't going to tell them to not "do the work" after complaining about me not committing right then and there. Unfortunately, they are the only dealership within 200 miles that had the trim level and specific upgrade options I was looking for, otherwise I never would have went back. I purchased the car the next day. Sundew in the finance department was a pleasure to work with, and never tried to pressure me into the silly things that finance usually tries to push. She was the only positive when dealing with Borgman. When I went to the front desk to handle my forms of payment, I was once again put off by the way they treated me. I didn't catch her name, but the woman at the desk took about 6 calls and walked away from her desk twice while counting my money. She never once made eye contact with me and her demeanor seemed as though I was a huge inconvenience. Also something I noticed: the magnetic license plate they use on test drives gets carelessly thrown on the cars. It left tons of little scratches and I flinched every time the salesman threw it on. ON TOP OF THAT I noticed a large and fairly deep scratch to the left of the license plate that I did not see on my test drives. I can't help but think a screwdriver slipped off a bolt and dug into my car when the salesman put on my new plate. I could have missed it before, but I'm fairly detail oriented and thing I would have seen it. On my drive home, the Check Engine Light came on in the car. 15 short miles from the dealership. I tested the engine codes and got a small emissions valve back, so it is a minor fix... but I can't help but think Borgman cleared the code hoping it wouldn't pop up for a customer on test drives... either way, I'm not going back. I'm using Barber Ford in Holland to repair the valve because they seem to get favorable reviews. Borgman never felt welcoming and never gave me a reason to come back. I hope that other people have a different experience, but I can only give you mine. read more

Attention Yelp: I am a legitimate CUSTOMER (former) of Borgman Ford and am offended that my legitimate review of this business has been filtered on this website. Perhaps because the owner, John Borgman, does not want this information to get out? Well, then, he should have treated this legitimate customer better than he did. Believe me, John Borgman knows who I am and knows how bad he and his employees treated me after I ordered a 2011 Ford Fiesta that, according to salesman Steve Hinga was to take 6 to 8 weeks and ended up taking 16 weeks to come in. Again, this is a legitimate review and I actually work with the wife of my salesman, Steve Hinga, so if this were not a true review, I would not risk my friendship with his wife to warn others of this horrible dealership. From 8/17/2010: The worst experience I have ever had purchasing a new vehicle. Sales staff is the worst I have ever had to deal with. When a customer sits in the sales manager's office and he keeps rolling his eyes at them, there is definately something wrong there. I was by myself and was actually in fear of him by the end of our conversation. I just wanted to get out of there. I do not recommend this dealership and do not recommend a Ford vehicle at all, but if you really are set on a Ford, I suggest going to another dealership. read more

Sales was fast and helpful, but then again, I knew exactly what I wanted - they just had to find it and get it here. When the car I wanted arrived it had pimped out wheels on it, which they refused to take off or reduce the price on and it was missing the rails and cross-members for my roof rack. It took about a month to get those in. I made an appointment and was told it would only take an hour. 2 1/2 hours later, I'm still waiting. I won't be returning here for my next service or purchase. My wife Bought a Truck from there and we paid them top dollar of our hard earned money, 4 weeks later, the sunroof was leaking, took it to them and guess what I was told at their bodyshop, they said it is NORMAL FOR SUNROOFS TO LEAK, after insisting that they need to look at it and I was told they don't have any availability at the moment and I could wait until they have a spot or take it someplace else, we gave them 49k and that is how they showed us their appreciation for doing business and it doesn't stop here. after insisting more, they got it in and they admitted that it is leaking, at first I was told the front part of the sunroof needs to be replaced and they need to talk to Ford first, then they said no, it just needs an adjustment ( completely denied their first diagnose) after they adjusted the sunroof , we went to pick it up not only they didn't fix anything and it still leaked just like before, the sunroof rattles now which I did not have that issue before. Thank you Borgman Ford for that nice surprise. If you like to be treated like sh#%t, go to them. if you like to feel ripped off, go to them. read more

I took my 2010 Taurus SHO in for service and spent nearly two thousand dollars at this hole. Luckily I had some work covered under warranty but there was much more to be done (or so they advised). I had the front strut assemblies replaced because they were making an odd noise. What's nice about that is that they still make the same noise and since that day whenever I have to step harder on the brakes, it sounds as if the front bushings are binding up above the spring itself. I took the service tech for a ride and when he heard the noise he looked at me and told me it was normal. You've got to be F*****g kidding me. As per every other dealership worldwide, the service manager and staff were short with their responses and extremely rude to talk to over the phone and in person; they really made you feel at home. Unless you're going here to buy some touch-up paint or a shirt from their Ford shop, I'd just keep driving. This team is worthless. read more

Just had an oil change and tire rotation done on my work vehicle and it was okay service phones ringing off the hook with two people already on the phone, took about 1.5hrs which isn't horrible but once I got my van back it was covered in oil hand prints even inside the van and this happens everytime. read more

If you need a car guy, Skip is YOUR guy. We lease our vehicles in our ten years of doing so, we have never, NEVER EVER had as seamless an experience as we did with Skip. We worked with Skip over email to get everything in our deal secured due to our busy work schedules. Nothing in our contracts were wrong or added as a surprise when we got to the dealership. Our truck was ready, waiting, clean and we were literally in and out with our new truck in 9min 20seconds (yes I timed it). Let me add that I am a stickler when it comes to anything that our family pays for. I am that person that looks at every last cent, every last word, every small fine print detail and I miss nothing. So, for me to say that this was FLAWLESS, I truly mean it. If that was not enough, I am an Army Veteran and never once did Skip refer to my husband as the veteran or place my husbands name as the veteran on our paper work (this happens more than I care to say) and shook my hand and thanked me for my service. This was the detail that took our experience over the top not only for me but for my husband who has been through all the sacrifice that supporting a service member takes and it upsets him when people take it away from me. RUN, don't walk to this dealership and ask for Skip. It will be THE smartest move you have ever made. read more

If he is not there, we will probably look for a dealer closer to home, but still- nothing bad to say about Borgman... Their Finance Director Frank Heyes is a pushy tough guy that only cares about people who have excellent credit. I had only minor credit issues and told him I was pre-approved with my own bank after he high-balled me a ridiculous interest rate. Low and behold he then told me he could compete with my loan I already had and I questioned his integrity and asked him what bank. IT WAS THE SAME AS MINE. He was very rude and I do NOT recommend going to this dealership if you are looking to get financed. Get your own financing or stay away from Frank Heyes the Finance Director. read more

08/18/15 Two weeks ago I took my truck to be serviced and I was very disappointed with worked performed. I requested spark plugs to be replaced, the car starter to be looked at and fixed and the 37 point inspection advertised. The spark plugs got replaced (at least Jeremy the service guy said they did) I was told that they did not have time to check my car starter because the we too busy :(... and the 37 point inspection was never done either given that I just found my sway bar link was totally broken and had been broken for quite some time. Jeremy told me that me vehicle was totally fine and I wouldn't have to worry about it until 100k miles reached. I would not recommend their business to anyone. Apparently they are to busy provide the services customers request. However, their collision shop (different department) offers an excellent work and outstanding customer service. read more

I will never recommend Borgman Ford to anyone! It was my kids first experience. Now not only won't they trust my opinion, they certainly won't trust a dealership! After one week of their new/used car the transmission went out. After a week of back and forth they said it would be 1000!! I thought they should pay 1/2 as they had to of know. Not the case. They said they picked up the digonostic cost 500. So as of last sat planning on a 1000 and trying to get in in to actually be fixed, now they are saying 1500-2000! Nothing changed, it was not accessed again! This is unexceptable and I will tell EVERYONE I know how shady they are! Stay away! read more

Waited at the counter for five minutes without Anton even acknowledging I was there. No "we will be right with you," no "it's going to be a little wait, thanks for your patience," not even a hello. During this time, one of the staff, who looked right at me & was standing around doing nothing, left to go make himself a cup of coffee. When I asked if I was in the right place, the man said yes & asked where my car was. I pointed it out to him. He told me I could go get it & pull it into the bay. When I asked if it was possible for someone to go and get it, since I recently had knee surgery, and walking is still pretty tough, he said "yeah, I'm feeling that way today too. But after I finish this, I'll see if I can find someone who might help you," in THE MOST condescending tone ever. All while never even looking up to acknowledge me. I ended up having to walk back out to get my vehicle myself, and service did not improve from there. read more

Brought my truck in for service they didn't get it exactly right the first time but did make it right when I brought it back in. However the customer service I received from Allison from the very beginning of dropping it off to pick up was horrendous. She didn't smile, was not friendly & when there was a problem with my vehicle after I had paid just over $600 she didn't apologize & when I was concerned that I would be charged for my return visit at the end of the day she told me that's the end of my free ride. I don't know about the rest of you but I would be in big trouble if I spoke to the customers at my work that way and she shouldn't be allowed to get away with it either. Three stars is for the mechanic I feel he ultimately did a good job. I would give less than one star for the customer service provided. Maybe you guys will get better service from Allison I apparently don't have the right parts. read more

This dealership is pretty consistent in delivering the same atrocious customer service that all Ford related entities supply. Pete in Leasing is a big Talker. He initially will talk a big game and make it sound like he is going to work hard for you and provide great customer care however, he will not return your calls and fail to follow through on any requests or get you the information that you need. I ordered a part for my Ford Fusion. I was told the price would be $29, and confirmed the price with the sales representative when he called to say the part was in. When I arrived to pick up the part they tried to charge me $55 for the part. When I corrected them and said the part should only be $29 they came up with an excuse and couldn't explain why the cost doubled. Do not shop here if you are woman by herself. In 2014 I went into the used car dealership. As most usually are, I was skeptical & nervous about getting ripped off OR being pressured into buying a car that may not run in a year. I ended up buying a sturdy lil 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer from "Jon Levanduski." Absolutely no pressure & he addressed any concerns in a refreshing "no BS" kind of way. I'm happy to say, over 3 years later, this $5,000 car still runs like a beast. My fiance' and I regularly comment on what an amazing purchase that was and how we will undoubtedly go back to Mr. Levanduski whenever this car finally decides to stop running. read more

After searching for a car for a few months, I came across a Ford Escape at Borgman Ford. My sales representative, Jerry Antuma, was so helpful through the entire process. Unlike other sales reps that I had dealt with, he was extremely laid back and didn't try to "shove" the Escape down my throat. I sent my Grand Valley college student in for an auto problem. We live in Novi. They misdiagnosed a small tire problem and coincidentally her transmission hose began leaking quite a bit for days after until I noticed upon visiting 3 days later and trying to drive the car to Novi MI. The local dealer determined it had a hole or something in the hose and we had almost lost all the fluid. Lucky to make it back on freeway. Wouldnt trust them again!? read more

After buying a used car less then a month ago it immediately had transmission issues. Well since it is covered under warranty I had to bring it in within a day of getting the car. The transmission kept saying transmission malfunctioning. Brought it in and they gave me a loaner and the next day they said it was fixed, all they did was clear codes and test drove it only a mile which I knew wouldn't solve it so the next day I'm driving down to drill and I'm half hour from home and once again my transmission starts acting up saying transmission overheating. I had to turn around and get a loaner car to get to drill which Ford only said sorry and that sucks when I brought my car in again that Monday. They kept it for three days and once again I got it back I saw they finally test drove it only 20 miles and Friday night I'm driving home from work and both warnings pop up. I bring the car in Saturday trying turned stay calm and Ken tells me that they can't take it because they don't have a loaner and hopefully I have no plans this weekend since it's barely drivable. I finally get to bring it in for a third time the following Monday and they figure out that oil was leaking on the clutch causing it to slip. My big issue and why I'll never go back again is the pure frustration that I dealt with and the fact that a dealership mechanics would never check for something like this which I kept telling them clearing codes won't work but I was ignored. If it wasn't for Jeff who sat and talked me thru everything and understood my frustration I would have called the owner myself. As a company who deals and prides themselves on being so supportive of the military why did no one care I was almost stranded on my way to my drill station and no one cared to try and right the wrongs that Ford caused. read more

I have noticed a downward spiral at Borgman Ford Service over the last year. Today was the worst. First, the service department tried to argue with me as to weather my alternator was still under warranty. After several minutes of discussion it was determined that yes, the alternator was under warranty, and if I wanted, I could bring my vehicle in for them to look at it..... in a week or two, but maybe, just maybe they could work me in, so long as I left my vehicle there. When I asked if they could arrange a rental car for me (at my expense), there response was, "enterprise is in the phone book." I found a good resolution to this problem, though. I called Christian Brothers. By the time I got there, they had the rental vehicle arranged for, and I was taken care of immediately. I have purchased two cars at Borgman. I will never step foot on their property again, for anything. Too bad Christian Brothers doesn't sell vehicles. I will be making a purchase soon. read more

I will never bring my vehicle to this dealer. I have a 2005 Ford Freestyle brought in for insurance work 3-11-2013 and as of 4-7-2013 I haven't had one call from them. When I made the call a technician told me the hold up was with the insurance company which was incorrect because the insurance company had already sent in a check for the repairs. They did provide me with a loaner after I called a second time. I told them I have a family of four so we need our vehicle back as soon as possible, this fell on death ears - no one there seemed to care nor did they make my customer experience worth experiencing again. I know dealerships get a bad rep, I worked for one selling cars, but this is beyond "third class". It feels as if Borgman Ford went out of their way to show me I wasn't a valued customer. I would recommend never to take your vehicle in their facility for repair work especially if its for insurance claims. read more
