A great coffee spot. I came here wheb the weather turned south. Nothing beats a nice cup of coffee on a rainy day. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. The staff is friendly. And, most importantly, the coffee is pretty good. They serve breakfast all day long. So unlike some coffee joints, you can get your food fix here too. For breakfast, they have quesadillas, burritos and your standard eggs and bacon. I had the breakfast burrito. It was fair, a little too heavy on the black beans, but good nonetheless. In addition to breakfast, they will make you paninis also. I did enjoy the french press you can order. For a coffee fiend like myself, being able to continually refill your cup four times is great. For less fiendish coffee drinkers, the french press would work well for splitting amongst a group of friends/colleagues. The quality of the coffee was better than starbucks and leagues above a 7/11. Not knock your socks off, but pretty darn good. To be fair, I am a bit of a coffee snob and hard to impress in that department. Ordering straight from a guatemalan farmer will do that. Wish this place had been around when I was an undergrad! I just started grad school and I'm only there once a week but I make sure to go between classes every Tuesday! They make a great soy latte and I love their veggie wrap with hummus. Friendly staff, nice place with local art on the walls, relaxing atmosphere. Not a bad spot. Fresh juices, sandwiches, coffee, beer, pastries and a clean atmosphere to relax by oneself or have some great conversation in a comfortable chair. The ambiance inside is nice and can see why college students like to hang out there and study. We ordered two chai tea lattes (small) and paid a little over $8. to me it was overpriced for what we got. When I took the first sip, it was like drinking a warm chai tea latte. Delicious cappuccino with just enough frothy goodness to make it a great. It went fantastic with their triple chocolate brownie. I like this place. It's nestled in a great little area with easy parking. I had the Caprese Salad and a Iced Coffee. Food was delicious but little things made me go 4 stars instead of 5. For example, salad only came with a fork. When a knife was clearly needed. The iced coffee came filled to the brim when most of us need room for cream. None of these things are deal breakers or effect my feelings about the place, but exceptional service means anticipating what the customer needs. The wi-if is fast and the password is cute. Favorite place on campus! Their menu is a little pricey, which is the only problem I have but everything else is great. Their jovi milkshake with caramel is absolutely amazing. Costs $8 but it's worth every penny. They have open mic nights almost every night for poetry slams or live music. The world needs more places like Borjo. read more

I have eaten here on many occasions and the have always had a positive experience. Always friendly and helpful staff and amazing food. Especially their chicken salad sandwich and fresh lemonade. The only negative I can say is the coffee isn't that great but it is better than Starbucks. Pros: Delicious muffins, smoothies, relaxing classy ambiance. They have local musicians playing often which is very awesome. Cons: Service is not very friendly and I've never enjoyed an actual sandwich; everything tastes pre-packaged. I have been to this establishment on several occasions and enjoy their food and drinks. However, I find it appalling that it took several minutes before I was greeted due to a girl getting their hair braided by a young man. I asked if there was a supervisor or manager and one of the ladies directed me toward the girl getting her hair braided. I also had the same experience, however, this time the employees that I could see were playing with their cell phones. These issues, in my opinion, leave a negative impact on customer service and are especially unacceptable for those in supervisor/manager positions. I hope these issues will be resolved as I thoroughly enjoy this coffeeshop. read more

Cute little stop with lots of small tables. They sell Taste sandwiches, so of course they are excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It's always nice when staff are extremely knowledgeable of menu items and can help you pick exactly what you want on the first try. This place was delightful and just what the doctor ordered. It's located right by Old Dominion University so it's filled with summer semester students. I ordered a Mocha Frapp as I was craving a milk shake like substance but I made sure that they only did half of the normal chocolate. It was very sweet and perfect for my craving. My Mom and I did our coffee shop usual and ordered two different sandwiches so that we could split it, that way we could try more on the menu. I chose the Palermo Panini which had roma tomato, fresh mozzarella and pesto grilled on ciabatta. It was delicious! I even thought that it was the perfect sandwich until I tried what Mom had ordered... The Powhatan. Which was three cheese (blue, cheddar, provolone) grilled cheese with avocado and roma tomato. We ordered it without the bacon as we're vegetarians. I don't know what it was about this sandwich but it blew the other one out of the water. For me I think it was the bread with that pow of blue cheese that you can't see but hits your taste buds. I absolutely loved this little coffee shop and will be a frequent stop on my next trip to Norfolk. read more

I swear sometimes if it weren't for the good music and nice people here I wouldn't come as often. I'm taking away a star for inconsistency when it comes to the food. I order the same 3 or 4 things regularly and depending on the complexity, they make it differently every time. The breakfast burrito is the king of examples here. Sometimes it has meat (usually bacon), sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes there's cheese, sometimes it's missing. Sometimes it's spicy, sometimes flavorless. Today, all the flavor was there and so was the bacon, however the contents inside were cold. For $14 I got a large latte with flavor added and a burrito and at that price, the food should be consistent. read more

What a refreshing break from the norm!!! I can't stomach Starbucks, and I don't run on Dunkin, so Borjo Coffeehouse is like a god send. This little spot reminds me of all the coffee shops in Boston. Everything here is great, and seriously above average. Not even playing. Their iced coffee is serious... and their chai is basically a dream. Guaranteed you're gonna think you're in the movie Inception if you taste their chai milkshake. Shits unreal. And their little slices of cake are to die for. I get one every time I go there... which is really bad since I go to school at ODU, and I frequent this place once a day:( To be expected, they're a bit pricey, but hey, you get what you pay for. Borjo is a nice local coffee shop for ODU students and faculty. While the atmosphere is fantastic, the coffee is not unique in the way you would expect from an indepentant coffee shop. Also, the food is priced well above a casual meal, even for a cafe. Borjo is a great shop to grab a cup of coffee at, but I would not call it my favorite coffee shop. read more

Until recently, I was a starbucks junkie and just fine with that. Starbucks is pretty predictable and I like knowing I'm getting a predictable product. A couple weeks ago, out of the desire to try something new and support local business, I stopped by borjo with my daughter for a drink. My daughter ordered a hot apple cider and I got an iced mocha...hereby known as wonder in a cup. Hands down the best iced mocha I've had in a long time, if ever. The daughter's apple cider was fantastic too--thick with cinnamon and perfectly hot and spicy. Customer service was terrific and the store itself is just a comfy place to be, with couches, tables and chairs, and plenty of people milling about, doing whatever they do. Since my initial trip, I have returned several times, each visit being just as great as the last. So if you're out by ODU and needing coffee, go! read more

I come here between classes but the scene can be a bit older than the local college crowd. They have a small lounge area with a bookshelf/game Section plus a stool and guitars for impromptu live music. I have enjoyed their brie plate, a chicken wrap and a quesadilla (add veggies as the cheese is very plain) before and today I had a carrot, ginger and lemon juice because I'm starting a juice fast. It was suprisingly good as I normally don't like carrots. It was a bit pricey for what it was. I wish I could have some of their coffee today. Lol read more

Borjos has my heart. Finishing my 4th year at ODU and this place has become a 2nd home to me. The coffee is strong (and I've acquired high tolerance to caffeine at this point in school) and you get a free refill with every cup. There's a variety of different tables chairs sofas outdoor seating to choose from, good music (at a volume where I can still focus on work) and the staff are genuine caring people. I love that the wall art is always local, that there's live music some nights, and the happy hour. The food is fresh although it IS overpriced. I can't say much abt the lattes & all that bc I drink my coffee black. Is it weird to mention their toilet paper is amazing? Oh and lots of good looking people of all ages come in here if you're lookin to fall in love at a coffee shop..hehe. I came into this coffeehouse in between classes. The baristas were very knowledgeable and patient with my questions. I ordered a pumpkin pie white mocha frappe and it was delicious. The environment is very cozy so it's good to relax or to do homework. 10/10 recommend!! read more

There are not a lot of good coffee shops in the Hampton Roads area, but Borjo is one of the exceptions. I've never had a bad cup of coffee there and the atmosphere is conducive for working or relaxing. It's a welcome change from the overwhelming amount of Starbucks in the area. And if you come by after work they even have a few really good beers on tap, Starr Hill and Aventinus. read more

Okay I'm a little biased here and gave it 5 stars because this place makes me sooo nostalgic! It's next to ODU and as an alumni how can I not show some love to the cafe that kept me amped up on coffee, relaxed on wine and full on breakfast during my years at Ol' Dirty? It is located in the shopping dorm complex across the big bookstore so it is easy to see. It has the typical cafe chalkboard special menu outside with the blackned iron outdoor seating area which during lunch time is full of students, bikes and skateboards. Breakfast and lunch time the place can get full so be prepared to wait! Parking is um...well there are meters outside but since I was a student I was usually walking so I have no suggestions for that. This place has great coffee, but I usually went for the juice and yes...wine! The apply juice is sooo good as is the ginger juice! The food is yummy and love thier lox n' bagels! I have had thier quesadillas but they were average not as good as their Thai Wrap ( I left out the chicken :P). Overall, the setting is nice and can get nosiy if there a groups of college students meeting up but it is not unbearable. There are plenty of non students entering the establishment too, like moms with their kids...hipsters. I visit this place whenever I am in the area if I am in need of that colliegate feeling and desire soe hassle free coffee or yummy paninis. Skip Starbucks and enter Borjo for a honest local cafe to relax. Plus they have bands and poetry every now and then too! read more

The people behind the counter (baristas, if you must) are always friendly and they make good coffee, quickly. Gift certificates are available in any amount, and according to the sign behind the counter anyone who purchases a gift certificate for $1,000,000 or more will be entitled to free coffee whenever they're in the store for life. BORJO IS THE BEST! Such a great coffee shop to have on the ODU campus. I love their drink offerings (including the on tap beer and wine!) and their freshly baked goodies. THE BEST FOOD ITEM by far is their chicken salad. I literally crave it! Very meaty, lightly dressed, with a crunch of walnut, and a hint of cranberry for sweetness. Get in it a sandwich, get it in a wrap, whatever you do, you won't be disappointed. They have live music a few nights a week and overall, it has such a great vibe. Believe it or not, I actually met my husband here on a blind date. His friend suggested we meet here since it would be different from the normal dinner date scenario. We had drinks (I had coffee and a beer) and chatted for hours on their comfy couches. We have since graduated from ODU and married (we even took our engagement photos here!), but we still like to visit and reminisce over chicken salad wraps and giant chocolate chip cookies. read more

Tried this place for the first time today. I ordered the ham and cheese panini and the blueberry smoothie. I was a happy girl. The panini was thick but soft enough and a bit crunchy, it was perfect, especially with the hint of butter and garlic to it. The blueberry smoothie hit the spot on this hot rainy day! read more
