Holy mackerel this IS the best chicken salad around. I drive north from the waterfront for lunch quite frequently to take a break from work. Parking is easy- either metered out front or side street parking. There is also patio seating for the warmer months. Around lunchtime there's a real variety of folks, old, young, students, academics, and its nice to be around people who are reading interesting books. read more

Borjo! Yum, I just accepted a job at ODU Research Foundation and this coffee shop is right across the street. My first time here was yesterday and I absolutely loved it. Ambiance is good, baristas and employees all seem so happy and friendly and what a nice place to study! They have a huge TEA selection for all my non-coffee drinkers like me, I really liked the menu, so much to offer, a lot more than the Starbucks usually has. I got the Iced chai tea, I will try the Chai milkshake when I am in next time. They make smoothies, lattes, cappuccinos, milkshakes and more! The prices are a bit steeper than other coffee shops but it is nice and if I was back in college I would totally come and study here, looks like a great place to get work done! read more

Meh. Not impressed at all. Dirty cups on the cream/sugar station, no 1/2 and 1/2, prices aren't on the menu behind the counter (maybe I just didn't see them?) I love a place where you can choose from good coffee OR good beer! Patio was nice and there seemed to be plenty of inside seats too. Some folks hanging out reading and some hanging out chatting. My beer was very tasty and my friend enjoyed a fresh carrot/ginger juice. Fun! read more

Love the atmosphere and the employees are always talking and laughing. When the employees enjoy their jobs, you know it's a good place. Great playlist too. There's everything from women with newborns to people studying to job interviews that go on in there. Plus you can buy a coffee in the morning and a beer in the afternoon! I absolutely love this place. I stop here often in the morning on my way to work and get the pumpkin spice white mocha. AMAZING!! I highly recommend to everyone. It's not too too much pumpkin or too much white mocha. It's the perfect combo. The employees are all really sweet too and make you feel right at home. Ohhh and they also serve alcohol. Borjo is my favorite coffee place near ODU campus! They have live music that just creates an overall fantastic environment. I live that Borjo incorporates fantastic meals alongside its selection of teas and coffees. Borjo is a place that I feel is acceptable To go to for any meal of the day at anytime with selections ranging from breakfast dinner and if course snack time. Small and very chill coffee house. The servers are all nice and good looking and the coffee is good. My favorite thing is a mango and ginger smoothie. It tastes like summer. It also serves drinks but I've never had one. read more

This place is AWESOME! Drinks are great. They also have smoothies that are awesome. It is sandwiched between Tropical Smoothie and Starbucks and beats them both! At night, they have beer on tap too. read more

The best thing borjos has going for it is it's not Starbucks. The smoothies are great, and the brewed coffee is pretty good. But the espresso drinks are average and I'm not a big fan of their ice coffee. But free wi-fi and a great vibe from the staff and the deco makes this the closest thing to a true coffeehouse around odu. read more

Really just a step up from Starbucks IMO. This place has such a corporate feel even though I know it's an independent joint. I find all of the coffee drinks to be on the bland side with nothing that really distinguishes is as "Borjo". I do like that they have beer and wine though. I think it's a great concept for the ODU campus and I know they will be here for a long time with the always revolving student base. A plus is that everything is always kept super clean! read more

I'm giving this place 2 stars only because their food is good. However, the employers need to have a talk with some of their employees about respect. My husband and I came in for some food and plus, I really wanted their coffee. The girl at the counter made VERY little eye contact with me, and , instead, had her eyes stuck on my husband and acting very flirty. I did NOT appreciate the way she was looking at and talking to him. I'm his wife, and to be treated as if I was invisible was so angering and rude. I couldn't even enjoy my meal after that. This was my favorite cafe, but now I don't feel comfortable returning. My husband and I would like to eat somewhere where I will be acknowledged and treated with respect. Coffee is good, but not good enough to watch some random girl bat her little eyelashes at my husband like he's single. I'm so angry. I'm being generous giving two stars because I feel disgusted. I hope you teach your employees what kindness, respect, manners, and consideration means. Have a good day. read more

Right on ODU campus, and the best place to get coffee. Really great house coffee and specialty drinks, massive muffins and lunch foods like soup and wraps. Super-friendly staff and quiet, cozy atmosphere with comfy chairs, books, and Internet access. Great place to study or just hang out. Definitely worth crossing Hampton Blvd to go here instead of Starbucks. So much better! read more

Friendly staff, and they make a cafe au lait the RIGHT way and not full of foam like most places who make it like a cappuccino with coffee. Pass on the baked goods, though, the few I've tried were not flavorful enough to be worth the calories! read more

I love Borjo! My fiance attends school at ODU, so sometimes while he is in class, I hang out at Borjo. Their smoothies and food are delicious, and everyone who works there is super nice. They also have live music, readings, etc. some nights, so it is something different to do. read more

Met up with a peer of mine that I met through Bumble Bizz because this coffee shop is so close to campus! We both loved it and come here regularly to collaborate on business projects and I even bring some of my friends here to hangout and grab food in between classes! Absolutely love it and would highly recommend this coffee shop to all of my friends and colleagues, and will continue to use this as a meet up for all future business meetings. read more

This coffeehouse has a great neighborhood vibe. While ODU students predominate, you can find locals, including my kiddos on their bikes. They get a thrill out of seeing Master Odom from Norfolk Karate Academy by the window on his laptop making use of the free WiFi. (I'm not sure the feeling is mutual...) It is spacious with a variety of seating options -- couches, tables, patio -- and a rack of books & boardgames in the corner. We can't always get seats for the bunch of us during busy times of the semester, but an individual would have little problem. Per my husband, the coffee is good. I lean towards frou-frou drinks, and they sometimes make them too sweet. The service is a bit slower than Starbuckians are used to, but better; they will chat with you, help the kids decide, and walk your drink around to you if you sit down. The wraps are tasty, if not exceedingly memorable, and they do serve local beer and some mixed drinks, too. read more

I'm originally from New York and we take our coffee pretty seriously, so this was a breath of fresh air to me. Not many coffee houses around town are as good, but this one was top dog in my book. I love being able to sneak away to small local coffee shops to study and relax while drinking coffee and getting a bite to eat so when I saw Borjo on the corner I was excited to stop in. When I walked through the door I was greeted and felt welcomed by the friendly staff. I placed an order for coffee and a bagel. The girl who rung me up handed me my plain coffee while another toasted my bagel. Everything was well until I handed her back the receipt and she stopped and looked at it before she put it in the drawer. I could tell by the look on her face and the look I received she was not happy with the tip I gave her. I went back to my table to wait for my bagel and they girl working the register brought it out to me. She rudely placed it on the table and I said, "thank you" but she scuffed and walked away without responding. I was very disappointed after that. My total was $5.60 so I am not sure what kind of tip she was expecting but I think it is rude to stop, look at the tip and then look back at me with a look expressing disappointment and disgust. And then, rudely come over to my table to hand me my order. read more

Borjo is a great little coffee house with a good selection of food and drinks. It's an easy place to grab a quick coffee and pastry but I often stay to enjoy my breakfast or brunch. I recently tried the breakfast burrito, which had a lot of flavor without being too spicy or overwhelming. The owner and his staff are very friendly and helpful if you have any questions. They are always willing to cater a drink to your preferences or explain the ingredients. read more

This is not one of my more favored coffee spots in Norfolk. This place is definitely a college spot, which is fine as it is on ODUs campus. It just does not really cater to anyone but students. I have not had any food here, although I've heard it's good. I'm just not personally a fan of the coffee here. It has a burned taste and their espresso is not my favorite, I really need an overly sweetened drink to be able to be okay with it here, which is not normally how I take my espresso. I've never come here and had a terrible experience to talk about, it's just not my cup of joe. The upside to this place is the great beer selection and the events that they have going on for art and music. read more

The food is okay, but it's not pretentious. I'll eat there if I find myself around during lunch time, but the food is a bit pricey for not being that great. What I love is their coffee, juices, pastries, service, alcohol and atmosphere. It's a great on campus spot. I wish it was open later. I'd love to stop by for a drink with friends after class on occasion. I live right around the corner, too, and would love to go with my spouse in the late evenings, as well.
