I have to update to say they have now enacted a $170 fee (Im pretty sure it was $170, this was months back...so dont quote me on that) no matter what. If you get your car checked for an issue, you get charged the $170, EVEN if you have them fix the issue. So you pay the $170 on top of the service fee. I will have to find a new place to go if my car develops an issue because an almost $200 fee on top of the 300-400 to fix the issue isn't feasible. If they ONLY charged it when you didn't get the work done there, I would understand. But adding it to the cost of fixing the issue feels arbitrary. That being said, the guys are friendly and great so I will continue to go for non issue/routine work like oil changes. read more

A -10 would be a better score. I went there a number of years ago and they lied and tried to rip me off, well, they still may have but I can't say 100%. I saw a compressor they put on my truck was black so I knew it wasn't the "new" one I'd paid for. The owner looked me right in the eye and said it was definitely new. I asked where they got it and called them. Nope, a black one is definitely refurbished, always had been and would be so it would be obvious that it wasn't new. I made them put a new one on and would never go back. I went there because a friend's son worked there. The told the kid he was part owner or something like that and he'd get more in commission for what he sold. The way it all went down made it seem like they cut corners, and tell people they need things they don't so they make more in commission, as well as sell refurbished items while claiming them as new. I went to Boss Performance based off the reviews on Yelp. Arnie was cordial and seemed knowledgeable but my experience with Boss was terrible. First, a part had to be special orderee which I paid for up front. They called me in a few days saying the part came in and we scheduled a time to come in. I dropped my car off first thing in the morning only to get a call a few hours later saying they ordered the wrong part and the right part wouldn't in for a week and would cost more. During my initial consult I asked Arnie to look at few things whiile he was looking at my headlights to see if further work may be necessary. He said no problem. When I picked up my car after learning they didn't have the right part, I was hit with a $170 bill for diagnostics. I told them I wasn't told there would be a charge and they basically said I was a liar. They did point out what their labor rate was but I aasumed that was for the work on my headlights. I didn't ask them to do labor on anything but the headlights. I thought they would at least work with me but they wouldn. I feel I was taken advantagr. After visiting Boss my car headlights still don't work and I'm out $170! It has always been a fear to get ripped off by car repair. Boss Performqnce Center made my fear a reality. Off to look for w knowledgeable, fast, inexpensive mechanic in the Dayton/ Carson area Any ideas? read more

Our Ford E150 overheated in a remote section of Rt 88 and had to be towed to Carson City. We were stranded 400 miles from home. The Ford dealership wouldn't even talk to us, so I started calling automotive repair shops. Lucky for us Arnie said he'd look at it the same day. He and Eric had it all repaired (thermostat) and test driven twice before 5pm. Our van performed beautifully up hills and through the hot San Joaquin Valley. The staff was understanding, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. We were exceptionally happy with their work. read more

Called them to ask if they could replace a broken side mirror on my F-150. Fortunately, Corwin Ford had the part but couldn't install it until November. They told me to bring it in. Had it replaced in less than an hour. I was SO grateful! Also, it was Mel's first day. She is delightful. She handled the phones and customers like a pro. read more

I took my truck to Boss Performance Center to have a new Engine put in before the winter and it turned out good. What did not turn out good was when I took my truck out for the first time this spring My muffler system that they took off while putting my engine in that I saw laying on the ground while working on my truck broke off and is literally hitting the ground to the point of scraping the ground. And when I took my truck back in to have some adjustments done, I brought to the owner's attention, and he said he did not touch the mufflers and did not take them off while putting the Engine in? Everyone knows when you put an Engine in you have to take the mufflers off. So, he is not taking any responsibility for them falling off? And I also had yellow paint on my mufflers, and he said they did not do that either the owner said I must have run over some yellow paint on my way home. There was no paint on the road on my way home that day and what are the odds of that of that happening the same day. So now he is not really honoring his word or his work! So, beware when you get work done there the Owner Does Not stand by his word or his work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Worked on car, Job did not last they used poor quality parts without all of the parts included in the recommendation by the manufacture Definitely would not recommend them to anyone that wants a good job done when I called to review warranty He was discussing how ill he's been which may be true but Felt this was used so that he did not have to stand by workmanship. This is a pretty awesome, small family owned auto shop. They'll listen to what you have to say about any problems, they'll road test your car and try as best they can to see what you're talking about and see what's wrong, and they'll work with you to see what's the best solution. i would give them a zero out of five but yelp won't let you do that. long story short had my diesel truck 8 months got it back it would start but would die as soon as you gave it throttle had to pay to have it taken back. They had it another 3 weeks got it back wouldn't start got it to start off starting fluid took it back they had it again told me it was ready to go same deal.. and to top it off if you want any updates on your vehicle you have to call and call and call for no answer got it back leaks oil like crazy and now my truck has a ton or wiring issues also my heat and ac use to work Really good and blow out all the vents now it only blows out the defrost with only heat no ac at all they charged me to recharge my ac... got it back and let's just say that was a waste of 11,420$ Arnie is a POS to say the least his workers Collin and Kevin are good people but the owner Arnie try's to have them do it the shittyiest way possible And lies out his ass about what's been done and what hasn't I have to take it to another mechanic to get it fixed right... if you want it done right don't even think about taking it here unless Arnie is out of the picture with him in charge it's a glorified chop shop.. Brought my car in for to replace a leaking hub seal. Arnie found a factory mistake in the original installation of the axle. He got all the necessary parts and got my car back to me quickly. My Sequoia that has alway gotten about 15 miles per gallon is not getting 18 miles per gallon. He also flush all brake lines and correct sensors issues that I have had for 11 years with the car. He did all this work and charged a reasonable rate. I was very very impressed and will never go anywhere else! I highly recommend Boss Performance to address all your car repair needs. These guys are great! I broke down in Carson late in the afternoon and didn't know where to go. The AAA driver suggested this place, and I am so thankful! They immediately started working on my truck, knew exactly what was wrong and had it fixed by the early morning. The owner even drove 45 miles to get a part they needed. I usually do my own repairs, so I am knowledgeable about what things should cost. I don't know how these guys keep the doors open charging so reasonably.
