I have lived here all my life. I just found out about this place. I'm addicted to the number seven. I have not been able to try anything else. Although I have tried different pastries. The plain cinnamon roll is absolutely delicious. I even bought some for my coworkers. The oatmeal chocolate chip cookie is OK. The lemon bars are to die for. Now the service. The girls at the counter look so unhappy. Never greet me or thank me. It sucks that they are miserable and work at this fantastic place. I will continue to go back simply because the food is amazing. For some reason, the same guy keeps handing me my sandwich. He's always very nice. Ask me if I need a bag and thanks me. The place looks like your typical Deli. Very open a few tables not sure if I would go to study or get some work done there. It can get a little noisy. But overall, this place is amazing and advise anybody to give it a try. read more

I've always wanted to stop in and have a pastry here and I was not disappointed. I ordered the recommended favorite, a yummy , fresh and warmed upon request cinnamon roll. I asked about coffee and was shown to the self serve drip coffee station. They offered small and large coffee options. At the coffee station, a house blend, decaf, Costa Rican and snickeroo blend. Cutest little place!! The sweetest smell greets you the second you walk in. Everything looked amazing, but I went with a cinnamon roll and a sausage jalapeño cheese kolache. Both were great! As a bit of a cinny snob, I'd give the cinnamon roll a 7.5/10--still really good, but the kolache was a 9/10. Not the tiny hotdog kind either, but a hearty sausage. The building is adorable and the people were so kind. Parking could be a little tricky, but I'll definitely be back for more Saturday morning treats :) read more

Hello, I visited your store today and wanted to share some observations that might help improve customer experience. When it was my turn, I waited at the counter for about a minute without any acknowledgment. I then said "Hi," and was surprised when the employee responded, "I already said hi." I didn't hear her initial greeting and felt a bit awkward when she insisted she had spoken first. At the end of the transaction, there was no "thank you" or friendly closing. I appreciate that you hire young people, and I feel additional training could help them develop stronger skills in politeness and customer interaction. read more

Worth the trip are the cinnamon rolls but call a day or two ahead to reserve and they will be ready when you arrive. Scones are delicious. Sandwiches were a hit with great lemon cookies for dessert at lunch. Lemon and pecan bars made it home for dessert at supper. On line ordering works. Staff very friendly! read more

This is one of the gems of northwest San Antonio. The cinnamon rolls and scones are among the best this reviewer has ever had, and they offer many other items, including heartier fare. Came here looking for some cupcakes to share some cheer to my friend during this unusual time (COVID). I knew she loved Broadway Daily bread but I had never been here. I got a variety of 5 large cupcakes they had (two being red velvet) and then bought 2 minis for my husband. Everyone loved them! Large cupcakes were $3.xxish each but looked delicious. I'll be back to try some sandwiches and other bakery items! I should add I was really happy with their ordering system. This is easily one of my favorite lunch spots in San Antonio! Every time I come here, I'm reminded that I don't come here frequently enough. The sandwiches are delicious, made with the freshest ingredients, served on house-made bread and always filling. I finally stopped by after living in the area for the last few years and was not disappointed! I got the #1 sandwich on white bread with a blueberry muffin and it was so delicious I had to go back the next day to try more. The challah was what I came in for and was thrilled when they had a fresh loaf of chocolate chip challah coming right out of the oven. Never been or even heard of this place. Pulled in and went in. This place is simple and not overwhelmingly busy. I was greeted by a the friendly front counter staff and explained to them that I had never been here before. After a few minutes of asking questions, I decided on a Red Velvet cupcake (large) and the Roast Beef sandwich. That roast beef sandwich was amazing! Everything about it was fresh. And the bread that came with it was out of this world! I'm picky on bread but this stuff was like crack in solid form! I didn't think I could top that but the Cupcake was awesome. Just made my initial visit to Broadway Daily Bread and I love this place. I recently decided to begin eating healthier, and this place was highly recommended for all the natural bread products they sell. I purchased a loaf of Birdman bread, which is absolutely the best tasting bread I've ever eaten, and it's extremely healthy. I also purchased a blueberry muffin and a banana chocolate muffin, and both were delicious. I also wanted to buy some kolaches, which I've been told are great, but unfortunately they were sold out. The person at the counter was very helpful, friendly and politely answered all my questions. It's a relaxing, comfortable neighborhood bakery that I highly recommend. I no longer live in San Antonio but every time I visit I try to make it out to Broadway Daily Bread. I love their fresh made bread and always get the BTA without cheese. I don't usually eat mayonnaise but their herb mayonnaise is so tasty! None of their pastries disappoint, but my favorites are the chocolate cupcakes and lemon bars. My girls' love the lemon sugar cookies - sweet with just the right touch of flavor. Right now the inside isn't open so you have to stand in line or call ahead to order. Do yourself a favor and call ahead as early as possible so your favorites aren't sold out. read more

First time to visit. I've been looking for a quality bread. I bought a loaf of Birdman which had just come out of the oven. Driving home the fantastic aroma almost made me pull ove, pull off a chunk and taste it. Well made it home with loaf intact but soon I was eating thick slices with butter. I really enjoyed coming here. They sell sandwiches, salads, coffee, dessert, etc. I was in the area and craving some pastries so I found this place on Yelp and I am really glad I did. When you walk in you can smell the fresh made cupcakes and bread and you can even see the staff cooking and getting your order ready. It's pretty neat. The staff was very kind and helpful and the place is also nice and clean. Since it was almost lunch time I decided to get a salad and sandwich. I can't remember the type of salad and sandwich I got but it was delicious! I also got a chocolate cupcake with nuts on it, and peanut butter cookie, and a lemon bar. Service was outstanding. The place was packed and we had to park next door in front of the Five Star cleaners. I have been to the location on Broadway. The stuff is nothing special that you cannot find at so many other places, including HEB bakery. But the nice counter staff makes it special. The best fresh bread I've ever had. Since discovering this bakery, I've had to buy a loaf every week or I suffer from withdrawals. The Birdman is to die for! They also have great cookies and pastries. Their pumpkin cinnamon rolls this fall were absolutely incredible. It's probably a blessing for my waistline that they're closed on Sunday and Monday. I'm 22 years old, I grew up on De zavala and broadway has been a part of my community for as long as I can remember. I went in for some goodies and was so excited as usual for my treats when I had to experience by far the worst, most upsetting treatment by the read head cashier. I waited in line, when it was my turn, this lady stared blankly at me, she did not say hi. I placed my order while she literally looked everywhere but my face and when I finished talking and she finally acknowledged me she said "what?" After all of this I was so ready to be as far away from this business as possible and walking out the door half my loaf of bread fell to the floor.. She did not tie the bag. I would have just tied it myself but I was in such a rush to leave and so upset at this point that I had no idea the bag was completely unsealed. I am heart broken by this experience.. I feel rejected and unwelcomed. It really sucks to have so many good memories from my early childhood all the way up to my adult life completely tarnished by this truly miserable employee. I wish I knew her name but unfortunately I don't. The best I can describe her is she has dyed red hair, usually wears a bandana in her hair and has the most contempt look on her face. read more

Sometimes you're feeling fat and instead of doing something to remedy it, you choose to stuff your face with delicious bread. After a week of pigging out while on vacation, the goal was to come back and eat right again. Fat chance when Broadway Daily Bread, a sandwich/bakery haven, metaphorically "shows some leg" and gets you all excited about that food we're not supposed to talk about because GLUTEN is a six-letter, 4-letter word. Let's start with the not-terribly negative points first. The only reason BDB doesn't get a fifth star is because I'd like the option of a toasted sandwich on some days and because some of the muffins could use a little more flavor. Enter the sour cream cinnamon pecan muffin--the ingredients listed always get me. I always think: HOT DANG! SERVE ME UP SOME OF THAT AND DON'T GET CHEAP ON ME! But then I bite into it and all the glorious flavor is on the outside. There are no swirls of glory within. PLEASE PUT MORE GLORY WITHIN! But other than that, you guys, BREAD. Like, I know that too much bread can make you feel sluggish for the second half of the marathon workday, but it's worth it when you have downy-soft slices of wheat bread surrounding a mound of peppery turkey and provolone cheese. And don't get me started on the peanut butter cookie. I mean, what exactly is there to a peanut butter cookie? Peanut butter cookies are not bad, but it's not like they have chocolate in them. They aren't get-into-a-fist-fight-over-them amazing. But BDB sprinkles something akin to fairy dust, I think. The cookies are subtle and almost sugar-cookie-like, but then the pb flavor hits the roof of your mouth and man, that's some good stuff. If you like bananas and chocolate, then the chocolate chip banana muffin is gonna make your toes curl. A less-dense version of banana bread with gooey chocolate chips. Pro Tip: Put it in the microwave for a few seconds so you can say you have loved at least once in your life. Oh, and please, you guys! SCONES! Try the cranberry orange. You can't decide if you're in a magical orchard where you can suddenly taste all the subtle nuance of fruit or if you've fallen into the doughy arms of a much richer, more buttery, Pillsbury Doughboy. The thing about BDB is that it's a warm embrace on a day when you need the comfort and compassion. Bread never yells at you. And sometimes you just need that. read more

My first time trying Broadway Daily Bread on DeZavala. Wow! The cranberry scone was perfection. Nice soft cranberries and a tasty generous sized scone. I will for sure be going back to purchase more in the future. I also picked up a carrot cake muffin - flavorful and in no need of frosting as the cake part was moist and fresh, but not gummy. The oatmeal cookie was also really good. Lastly, I purchased a loaf of their Birdman bread (you can request that they machine slice it)...bread was great for a sandwhich and what I was really interested in was making sure it made for a crispy piece of toast, and IT DID :) Highly recommend this bakery if you are looking for quality baked goods. The DeZavala even has a section in front of the store with cafe tables and chairs so you can enjoy a cup of coffee with your purchases. Service was so friendly and efficient. We waited outside in a socially distanced line. Cinammon rolls are divine. Very heavy bread and lots of cinnamon but not icky sweet. Just like I like them. My mom had the biscotti - so many almonds and perfectly crunchy. We will definitely be back to try the bread and sandwiches. This place is a treasure. This little "hole in the wall" sandwich shop is, by far, one of the best in San Antonio. While their lunch menu is limited (about 6 sandwiches and 3 salads to choose from) all of the bread and salad dressings are made from scratch and reflect that in their unique, delicious flavor. The bakery is also tasty although we've had a dry cupcake or 2. I'd stick with the cupcakes, scones, and cookies - we've tried almost all varieties and haven't found one we dislike. We also occasionally buy our bread from here (when we can get over that way) - our favorite is the birdman! If you're looking for something different and unique, this is the place.
