Disgusting. White suspicious puddle stains all over their indoor seats, Found 2 pieces of hair in two different appetizers one in the pastels and another in the cevioche. Bathrooms smell like old rusty mop juice just stale and disgusting scent they use brown paper towels the same kind you get at a public park bathroom. Flys in same display cabinet where they store their desserts. The drink I bought was disgusting bartender clearly doesn't know what they're doing. Another terrific meal at Bossa Nova! Visit. In person. There have been restaurant closures on Sunset and now is the time to rally around our local restaurants. Tourism is down and that hurts the Sunset Strip especially. I've been a fan since they were located on Robertson. I'm big on checking yelp reviews before I order out so I was probably a little nervous before I ordered here, BUT I love this place. We order takeout often, sometimes a couple times in a week and it has been so consistent. The food is flavorful, tasty and well-packaged and the portion sizes are big. Definitely worth a try. Wonderful restaurant! You are always greeted with such friendly and helpful folks. The menu is huge! I've never been there when they were out of anything. The protein selection is Super, and you can add protein to many of the bowls which have incredible grain mixes and a multitude of vegetables. Broccoli, beets, carrots, plantains .....And they offer a side of the vegetables in a variety of cooked methods: steamed, roasted, baked, etc. As for the desserts, their bakery is superb. They have a gluten-free yucca cake and if you love a moist and gooey cake, you will absolutely love this. Having been a server for years, I usually never go to a restaurant when I am on a strict time crunch and need to be out by a certain time. However, my parents wanted to check this place out and despite my better judgement we came in at 625 needing to leave by 725 to make it to the Hollywood Improv for a comedy show. We were seated immediately and given great service and more within the time frame and made the show on time! The portions are gigantic! I got the shrimp plate that comes with your choice of 3 sides. I went with sweet potato fries, mashed potato and grilled veggies. The potato could have used some sauce or something to liven them up but they were still tasty. The veggies were a little cold but mixed with the pico were a good compliment. The service was quick and I was surprised to learn this location is relatively new. There was only one server on that we could see (12/23 if the owner ever reads this) and he handled the place like a champ with the food runners. read more

I'm honestly so sad to leave this review bc I'm a huge bossa nova fan! But mannnn have they fallen off. First of all service was terrible. Maybe it's due to covid and it being hard to get employees? This dude gave us cold Cabernet. Like why is it even being kept somewhere cold? The beef stroganoff which is the love of my life tasted terrible. I don't think they used any salt?! Just so bland and boring. It hurt my feelings for real. Even the mash potatoes were boring. Plantains were good I'll give them that. The best thing we ordered were the French fries and roasted veggies. My mom got a pasta dish that tasted like asian noodles?! There was nothing Brazilian about this food. So disappointing. read more

The last three times we came (as a same-gender couple) to this Bossa Nova on Sunset Strip (which was previously located across from the Abby on Robertson Blvd, just south of Santa Monica Blvd) my partner and I felt very safe and welcomed, with friendly and very attentive service. Tonight our waiter was "Noel" who's attitude and service was... OMG, unbelievably bad, so bad we had to ask ourselves what's up? To make matters worse, the bartender looked like he seriously didn't want to be there, with an angry look on his face. The music was so low we had to ask them to turn it up, especially because it was the only thing that might have helped us to feel at ease. We noticed we were the only gay couple in the restaurant and had to wonder if our waiter treated us like we weren't welcome, perhaps something had changed and we actually weren't welcome at this Bossa Nova, anymore, that possibly it wasn't a gay friendly establishment, as it previously was in it's former location. Since it was the only bad experience we've had at any Bossa Nova restaurant, we will try to get ourselves to go there again to get past our angst of returning to a restaurant where we felt them message was "you're not welcome here, don't come back" because we have a long affection and patronage with Bossa Nova, for one of us, since the very first night they opened their original restaurant, the previous location of this one, on Robertson Blvd. read more

First time there did not like the food we ordered several things the only thing myself and a few others liked were the appetizers only. And took much starch good my on rice fries potatoes etc. however you could substitute for salad now so good but those mixed vegetables were horrible and hard as heck. No I do not recommend this establishment but I would also say try it for yourself as you taste budds and taste textures and preparation of the food is not yours. The restaurant is located right across from the Sunset Plaza sign. There's plenty of free parking in the back. But I can see that parking can become an issue during peak times. Came in to order a dozen of their cheese breads. They were out and there was a fresh batch being made in the kitchen. So I decided to wait at the bar and get a caipirinha. It was really good and the bartender took his time making my drink. I did not realize that it was Happy Hour and ended paying $10 for my drink. Apparently, HH is from 3-6pm. My cheese breads was also HH pricing and I got a dozen for $9.50. I will definitely be back to take advantage of their HH. I mentioned the hostess that I remember their breads was a little bigger the last time I dined at the Bossa Nova in Hollywood probably 20 years ago. I work next door, and I usually get this or the bolognese pasta. $18.50 for the chicken lunch plate. The chicken has a smidgen of spiciness and is very flavorful. The salsa is excellent, too. This was such an amazing experience! I'm a native to Los Angeles and have never tried Bossa Nova. My partner and I popped into the sunset location in major need of sustenance after a gym session. From the first moment we sat down Rolando was so wonderful and gracious even when we moved tables multiple times. He was patient and took the time to explain the menu and make suggestions (which turned out wonderful) he's a lovely server and I would return again just off of Rolando's A+ service. As for the food...crazy good, honestly the most flavorful chicken I have ever had. It was plated beautifully and everything was full of flavor. Our first time here and we were blown away! Their menu is humongous! We started with the empanadas, and the Gabriella's salad. Both we're excellent. We shared the Paella and the spinach lasagna. Each dish was better than the last. We sat in the outdoor patio which was terrific. Our waiter Omar was excellent. We will definitely be coming back here very soon.
