Tried Nonna's Empanadas and loved the little detail of each one being stamped with its flavor. Super cute and helpful. Got 5: cheeseburger, salsa verde chicken, Korean BBQ, carne asada, and beef. Surprisingly, the cheeseburger was my favorite. It was gooey, well-balanced, and a great filling-to-crust ratio. Saved a couple for later and reheated them in the microwave. The crust still held up nicely, soft but not soggy. Each one had a distinct flavor, and the spicy chimichurri was a perfect addition

After our last experience trying to order food somewhere else, Nonna's Empanadas completely saved the day. My girlfriend and I ordered the beef empanada with ground beef, red peppers, olives, egg, and onion, and saying it was fantastic is honestly an understatement. It had that perfect "wow, this is actually really good" reaction from both of us. The flavor was excellent, the filling was rich and balanced, and one empanada is the perfect amount to curb your appetite. Two would definitely be a full meal. My girlfriend and I both agreed it was absolutely fantastic. Simple, delicious, and memorable. Huge wow factor. We'll definitely be back.

I picked up 3 beef, 1 cubano and 1 Filipino beef empanadas to try. All were very fresh and delicious. Friendly service. Definitely will come back again.

Located within the original Farmer's Market in Los Angeles (Adjacent to the Grove), this place offers fresh, tasty, and filling empanadas. Each empanada is priced at $5.94. There are numerous flavors available, each with its unique flavor, including beef, chicken, seafood, pork, veggie, vegan & sweet. Employees are friendly and helpful. Everything about this place is inviting, especially the location, as I am a massive fan of the original Farmer's Market.

Shrimp empanada with Salsa Verde - highly recommended!

If you're looking for a quick + delicious snack, this is the place to get one. Every culture has their own version on a filling wrapped in a pastry. What Nonna's is great at is having a vast variety of quality, made-from-scratch empanadas. Have 1 or 2 for a snack. More for a meal. FOOD - Shrimp Empanada 8.7 / 10 Tender pieces of plump shrimp served in the signature warm, flaky, pastry crust. You or course have to get their salsa verde. I'm constantly pleasantly surprised that Nonna's is able to serve all of their empanadas as the precisely the perfect temperature. It's never to hot, that the fillings burn your mouth, not are is it ever too cold. Are they a bit pricey? Yes. But it's 2025 & inflation is a thing. Food costs, labor costs, overhead, etc.

To be short and sweet; I'm addicted to nonnas empanadas. Anytime I'm on this side of town with time to stop this is ONE OF MY GO TO SPOTS. The carne asada is a fave as is the chicken; they have some dessert style empanadas like pumpkin or the new strawberry cheesecake. For locals or tourists this is a spot to try. Service is fast and some flavors run out fast so come early if you want the most options. Located in the farmers market

Loved the variety in their showcase and the helpful suggestions with posting which fillings were best sellers. Salsa Verde Empanada - This was on their best sellers list. I definitely saw why. TONS of chicken and it was seasoned so well. Wished it came with a little salsa. Chicken Alfredo Empanada - Tasted exactly like how it said, but for some reason it wasn't really a favorite of mine. But it tasted exactly like chicken alfredo. The empanadas came out warm and ready to eat. They also came with an oil and herb sauce. Not much flavor there. Didn't really do much. I did love how they stamped each empanada with the filling type that was inside. Great organization for them and also for the customer. The price was fair for the amount of filling that came in each empanada. Tons of seating at the farmers market. Definitely want to go back and try more of their menu!

These empanadas are packed with flavor! I'd recommend the beef empanada. The carne asada is flavorful but the texture is not my cup of tea, it's more shredded than pieces of carne. The verde chicken was a good too!

This place is amazing. They have several types of empanadas from Korean to Filipino to Hawaiian to Indian. There's a whole lot of choices you can choose from. They're very delicious and well filled. I highly suggest this particular eatery in the original Los Angeles farmers market on Fairfax. the service is extraordinary and the ambience is festive.

I came across Nonna's for my first time when I was venturing about the LA Farmers Market looking for something quick and good. There was a small line which is always a good sign and so I got in as well and took some time figuring out what fillings I wanted in the empanadas. It's not a restaurant but more of counter service establishment with a few seats, so grabbing a box to go is the main option perhaps to enjoy at the more communal seating areas within the Farmers Market area. There's 30 + variations of empanadas all spanning from savory to sweet. They do have some signs notifying about some of their best sellers to help you choose. The empanadas are freshly made and baked and served pretty quickly. I went ahead and ordered the beef, chicken jalapeno and mushroom (and cheese) during my first visit. The whole ordering process was fairly quick and went smoothly. I ordered the Combo #2 which is 3 empanadas and a basic drink ($18.26). The empanadas were freshly made and put in a box to be carried around; I was asked if I wanted a sauce and had the chimichurri on the side. Each empanada was the same size (about 6 inches or so), and there was a neat stamp that indicated which empanada was which (clever!). For the most part (and for my personal taste) the empanadas were fine, not very crispy (these are baked so there's one reason) and slightly bland but the chimichurri sauce helped elevate the flavors. Surprisingly out of the three (beef, chicken & jalapeno, and mushroom and cheese) the mushroom and cheese one was my favorite as the feta gave it a good little tang. Prices for each empanada are currently $5.94 so it's not really cheap, but then again this is LA and well the economy is what it is. This location of Nonna's is at the the well known Original Farmers Market but they also have other locations again at another area on W 3rd St, plus locations at The Americana and in Grand Central Market. I believe they validate parking if needed.

First time trying this empanadas. We got dessert empanadas. Dulce de leche and Nutella empanadas are filled with flavorful fillings. Their empanadas are soft with flaky crusts and warm. Dulce de leche empanadas have strong cream cheese taste with sweetness from caramel filling. These empanadas are baked and very enjoyable with sweetness from caramel filling as well as Nutella filling. Recommended.

I was excited to try and get a box go to take back to Vegas! I ordered just one verde chicken with the chimichurri on the side. It was good! Perfect portion to enjoy. Sooooo many options to choose from. Service was friendly. I went right at opening so no line. I wanted to take a box home to enjoy and give to some friends, but they don't have any cold ones to go. I would have had to order a box of warm fresh ones and let them cool down before packing them.

He was informative about our selections giving honest feedback and attentive to the needs of our group. I will say the food not inexpensive but what food really is these days. We ordered a plethora of dishes. Starting with the tuna neck tin. While I'm new to the tin game, I couldn't imagine what a $90 tin tasted like, now I know and I'm not sure I can eat anything less. Appetizers we started with the baked scallop special with chorizo, the caviar fries and the caviar dip. The baked scallop was delicious and the cause dip with the salt vinegar chips was fantastic. I could still dip more chips in that dish. I chose between the mussels and the fried fish sandwich. Alex recommended the fish not because it was better than the mussels. But because you just can't get a fried fish sandwich like theirs. I agree. The fry breading they have is top notch and the size of the sandwich literally has me full still 7 hours later. I substituted the fries for a lightly dressed side salad and loved it all. Besides, other folks had chips and fries to share. Other dishes were the fried and cold lobster rolls. The bagel breakfast plate and fish and chips. We even got dessert which was the pistachios tiramisu and the strawberry cake. Both good but the tiramisu was next level. All washed down with a winter sangria Maybe that's why I am still full. See you again, saltie girl.

The pork chops were delicious and packed with flavor, but the spinach underneath was a bit too bitter for my taste. The mashed potatoes were creamy, soft, and comforting. The first bite gives you that textbook contrast chefs chase: a thin, savory Maillard snap, then cool, silky flesh that still tastes of the sea rather than smoke, which tells me it was hit hard over heat to render the skin and pulled off at the precise moment before the proteins tightened. Grilled lemon halves, their edges caramelized, are doing real work here--squeezes of that charred citrus cut through the fish's natural oiliness--while the thin ribbons of pickled red onion and peppery microgreens supply the bright, acidic punctuation that keeps the palate moving. Slices of avocado act as a soft, creamy foil, lengthening the finish without smothering the fish, and the halved cherry‑tomato salad looks lightly dressed so you get clean sweetness and a crisp counterpoint rather than a soggy, overdressed side. From a technical standpoint I appreciate the fundamentals: even scoring or oiling of the skin to prevent sticking, careful timing so the flakes separate cleanly, and a sparing hand with seasoning so the brine of the fish isn't lost under salt or heavy sauces. Many places feel compelled to gild seafood with every trendy condiment; here, the restraint is refreshing and, frankly, rarer than it should be. Service matched the cooking: friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to steer us through the menu with solid recommendations, which matters when a kitchen is doing delicious things well. The restaurant itself is calm and clean, a peaceful setting with a bar that lets the food speak, and last time I was there they were in the process of securing a beer and wine license--good news, because this kind of balanced, grill‑forward cooking benefits from a thoughtful pour. In short, this meal stands out because it trusts the ingredient: confident grilling, smart acid, and honest accompaniments that clarify rather than compete, leaving you satisfied and already thinking about the next visit. As for the house-made salsa: stainless ramekins on a white plate, each with its own tiny spoon - bright yellow emulsion, lacquered dark reduction, smoky-red chile purée, and a chunky herb relish. The emulsion is silky and tangy, perfect for cutting fat; the dark sauce is sticky, umami-forward and built to cling; the red one carries smoke on oil and is medium-hot; the relish snaps with fresh acid and crunch. Important heads-up: one of these is a ghost-pepper style salsa - extremely spicy, slow-building and long-lingering, so use it as a finish, not a dunk. Execution is tidy: no broken emulsion, measured viscosities, portioned so flavors don't bleed - practical, disciplined work. In an era of one-trick "house sauce" laziness, this quartet gives you tools, not excuses, and it elevates whatever's on the grill without stealing the show. I'll definitely be back here!

None relied on heavy thickening, especially the New England chowder, which had only a delicate creamy richness balanced by buttery notes. It still delivered generous chunks of clams, potatoes, and onions. The Manhattan version brought a subtle heat from the tomato base, though I found it overloaded with thinly sliced potatoes, which overshadowed the clam flavour almost entirely. This was also my first time trying Rhode Island clear chowder. Served piping hot, the broth hid beneath a glossy layer of oil from the salt pork. It tasted surprisingly similar to the New England version, just without the cream. Of the three, the New England remained my favourite simply because it felt the most familiar, though sampling all of them side by side was worthwhile. They're served with oyster crackers that resemble crunchy croutons, sturdy enough to hold up against the soup. Seafood dominates the menu, and I especially appreciated the selection of six wild fish of the day. We took the opportunity to try the vermillion rockfish ($39) since it was local to California, a flaky white fish with a light texture somewhat reminiscent of tilapia. Each fish can be prepared simply, with herb oil, or with an herb crust. Following our server's recommendation, we chose the herb oil and weren't disappointed. The fish had a lovely sear and fresh, clean flavours that let the seafood shine. The entrée comes with a side, and we paired it with asparagus topped with almonds and an edamame relish. Lightly grilled and fresh tasting, it complemented the fish beautifully. If you're after something satisfying without feeling heavy, the grilled fish is an excellent choice. Even though the pistachio mascarpone cake ($14) is made with gluten-free almond flour, it remains impressively fluffy. Hints of lemon and olive oil give the cake richness and moisture, while the lightly sweetened mascarpone cream keeps everything balanced. Connie and Ted's also offers a strong cocktail list. The Niña, the Piña, the Santa Monica ($20) was deceptively strong, finishing with a smoky depth that would pair especially well with richer dishes. For seafood traditionalists, there's also a solid wine and craft beer selection. Reservations are definitely recommended. Despite the restaurant's large size, it was packed during our visit. Thankfully, getting a table here is far easier than at Providence, and booking a few days ahead should usually do the trick.
