Great bar with solid drinks and ambience if you are in the area! Parking is very convenient since the parking lot is right next to it. I got the Bosscat and .38 Special. The .38 was my favorite since it was smooth and rich but definitely has a punch once you're more than halfway thru the drink. The bartenders were fantastic! I remember Bosscat used to be on MacArthur so I was so confused when I went to this location. Their website confirms my thoughts and that they had moved to a new location. This location is fancy!! First, they have a shared parking structure which is SO good because the original location had also a shared parking lot, and sometimes you just couldn't find a spot. Second, they're also in the same complex as Lifetime Gym, along with multiple skyscraper buildings, so in general, it looks incredibly walking around these extremely tall glass buildings. Thirdly, they validate 2 hours for the restaurant. And lastly, the entire campus is so nice and secluded; definitely not something that the general public is made aware of. They have seating outdoors for quiet reading and while Bosscat does not have service outside their building, they will serve you if you, the customer, comes to the bar. On my experience, they had shut down the dining room for a private whiskey event. From where I was sitting at the bar, I can feel myself wanting to come in and dine inside. Their booths and chairs, their general interior decoration, looks incredible. The ambience is dark lighting with enough lighting to see toward the bar. The bar area was very well decorated as well and definitely is both a small group friendly and photography friendly space. I first tried their happy hour in Orange with friends. Same happy hour menu. Their named cocktails, Wouldn't You, and Pour Decisions, are in my top 10 cocktails. Deliciously crafted while not skimping on flavors or pours. These cocktails are not in the HH menu therefore one could spend quite a bit just on cocktails. For their food menu, gosh, I canNOT get their short rib grilled cheese out of my head. It's a very nice day for me for when I get out there. Plus, their HH is 7 days a week. That is just unheard of! Unfortunately, their short rib grilled cheese is not usually on the menu so I dont think I'll go back when its not HH. The bartenders and service are so friendly! I tend to take up space at the ends when it's just me and they definitely did not forget me, hidden in the corner. Restrooms are next to the restaurant, not inside. Held a private event in the bar patio area for a retirement party, and it was perfect! Food was timely and served hot, everyone loved all of the food. Drinks were delicious. A great brunch spot! We were on the hunt for great brunch food and tvs for Sunday morning football that could accommodate a big group including kids. This was the perfect spot. There was space to run for the kids outside, tvs for football, great food, great atmosphere and amazing service. I got the espresso martini (night hawk I think?). It was light but had a great coffee flavor to it. The fruity pebble French toast also wasn't too sweet and was still crunchy. I really liked that it didn't taste like stale cereal which is always the risk with this type of dish. I think next time I'll go for the country fried chicken. We ordered a bunch of items but the fried pickles were the best, the butter burger was pretty good too. Nachos were unusually delicious. The candy floss pork I think was a little disappointing as were the ribs sando. The dining area is quite impressive though. Dark woods, warm lighting and elegantly but comfortably decorated. The most plain, flavorless, uninspired food ever. How this place has 4.3 stars is beyond me. Let's start with the tomato burrata dip nonsense. It was neither hot nor cold, neither warm nor cool; just an awkward temp. but that aside the supposed "tomato confit" was 70% orange marmalade, which was not mentioned on the menu at all. It was excessively sweet and confusing The avocado salad was rife with browning, unevenly cut pieces of romaine, with barely any pieces of avocado, and tossed in the most flavorless dressing. The "avocado" dressing tasted nothing like avocado and the salad was just disappointing. The salmon had no flavor, the steak was also flavorless and the lettuce cups were also a fail (and yes, the lettuce looked like it was on the verge of being spoilt) Just when I thought the service was at least good, I noticed a charge for extra bread on my bill. The server had took it upon himself to give us extra bread, which we initially thought was a kind gesture, only to find he added it our bill lol Of course I had to ask him to take it off the bill, which he did, but the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth Needless to say, i won't be returning read more

We had a reservation and the experience was very disappointing from the start. Our initial server appeared visibly inconvenienced by basic hospitality requests, including providing cold water for the table and a cushion for my back as I'm in a walker and recovering from an injury. The overall tone felt dismissive and unwelcoming. When we asked for a different server due to the lack of warmth and professionalism, the manager did not inform us that doing so would significantly delay our meal. I explicitly asked whether switching would be a big deal and was not told that it would reset our order timing. We waited approx 30+min before a new server was assigned and our order was not entered until after that switch. As a result, our food did not arrive until 1 hour and 20 minutes after our reservation time. Had we been clearly informed that changing servers would cause such a delay, we would have made a different decision and dropped the request. The issue wasn't just the wait it was the lack of transparency and basic hospitality throughout the experience. Additionally, no effort was made to acknowledge or remedy the extended delay. Given the circumstances, we believe a refund or appropriate compensation is warranted. read more

All looked very appetizing , great presentation but taste was just ok. The beignets were delicious but could have come with a couple more in the basket. Reviewing solely on their accommodations! I called last minute to reserve a table for a large group. I thought it was going to be 18 guests and they let me know they did have an opening around the time I was requesting but it's possible we wouldn't be right next to each other. I confirmed the number of guests was actually 12 and they were going to have us all sit together. This was a last minute engagement dinner for my sister so it was super appreciated that they could accommodate us. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances we had to cancel our reservation. We had a good dinner here after coming in from the airport. we didn't realize this is a whiskey distillery so we didn't imbibe but we did see someone getting their drink smoked. we had the chicken dinner and the broccoli soup with grilled cheese sandwich. the chicken is somewhat spicy and well prepared. the grilled cheese very filling. the interior is dark, all dark wood and low lighting but a large room with one tv by the bar. read more

We rented out the full restaurant for our wedding celebration in August 2025. The experience was great. Everyone had good things to say about the food, drinks, service, and ambiance. Casey was the primary point of contact we worked with to arrange the event. Clear and timely communication with him leading up to the event was great, and we were able to do a food tasting prior to the event, to customize our menu. Casey was super accommodating with the menu as well, and was conscious of our guests with food allergies and dietary restrictions. We added a whiskey tasting station to the event, which everyone raved about. It definitely made for a unique experience that people were not expecting for a wedding party. We also used the in-house DJ, who customized our playlist and kept everyone dancing the night away. We continue to hear from our guests how it was the most fun wedding party they have ever been to and we can't thank Casey and the Bosscat staff enough for making it a memorable evening. Friend visited and brought some back (allergy season is killing me during this heat wave and had to pass). I had the takeout short rib tostadas and some leftover bites of the butter burger and proper steak fries - the kind that should be served in a proper pub with battered cod aka "chips" and not bloody French fries. The beef in both cases was a touch gamey but the tostadas were an epiphany - crisp corn tortillas even at room temperature, great meat strand texture and the best part being the sweet pickled onions with just a hint of pepper heat that is the contrasting and balancing act. I love hot peppers but they don't love me back these days, the pickled onions I could put on anything. I'll show up in person when the temps cool off to 95° or so hopefully (pause, sneeze) this summer. read more

I booked a particular table for really important dinner over a month ago. When we got to the restaurant, they informed us that the table was taken by a party that had been there for three hours and they were hopefully on their way out to pay. We waited 30 minutes. The group paid and we thought we would get our table. Turns out they were there for another 40 minutes. The employees here also weren't willing to say anything to the party that was sitting at the table for that long and still not ordering any more food had paid out and now is there for almost 4 hours total. Obviously there was a big gap between my dinner reservation and the other party's reservation, so I'm not really sure why a restaurant would keep people at a table where someone had booked it way in advance probably before them , and had mentioned on this app that they wanted to sit there, and I double checked twice with the restaurant before even coming because I've come here now 5 times in the past 2 1/2 months because I really do like it and love the atmosphere and love the drinks and the service ---- but I don't think I'll be coming back to this place anymore that much. What really upset me was The gal at the front desk informed me that the people at the table "were regulars" . So I replied with " well I've moved here two months ago or so and I've been here now five times, so does that make me a regular then?" It's just inexcusable and I've worked in the restaurant business before. At the end of the day, a restaurant should honor a reservation that was made at a specific table for a specific occasion and politely excuse the table, that's been there for over 3 1/2 hours and paid out!!!! I don't think I'll be coming back here soon. The restaurant did try to make it up by comping us our first round of drinks. This WAS my favorite place, but I don't think I'll be coming here for food or recommending this place anymore. I'll be spending my money elsewhere and you should too where they value their customers--- like TEN sushi next door--- amazing! These people could learn from them!! Besides , the food here is mediocre and the drinks and appetizers are the only thing to truly come for. We came here for a birthday and made a reservation online for 10 people on a Saturday during brunch. It wasn't very busy, so might not have needed a reservation at all! I would rate the food somewhere around a 3.5/5 stars. They tasted pretty good but it's not the best brunch food I've had. The nacho fries are tasty, but pretty much just cheese & soggy waffle fries. I had the smokehouse Benedict, which in my opinion the flavors didn't mesh together very well and the biscuit itself took over a lot of the dish. The country fried steak was very well done & salty. One winner was definitely the beignets! They were really good. However, the lackluster food was definitely made up for with their service and the ambiance/location of the place. Our server was super nice, got everything out quickly, and offered to take pictures for us. From what I could tell, all their servers seemed great! They also wrote a birthday card for our family member with handwritten notes. The area this restaurant is in is super nice, seems newly made. Nice outdoor section with shade. So 3/4 of it was inedible. But it's tough to swallow an overcooked steak. I understand if you mess up a steak once. But serving a second steak that's inedible is not cool. I've been to the Bosscat location in Orange and recently went to the location in Irvine. This location is near the John Wayne Airport and has both indoor and outdoor seating across a large grassy outdoor area. For parking, there was a free parking structure right next to the restaurant. They have happy hour (Monday to Friday 3-6pm); I got the HH house old fashioned ($9) which I thought was a little too diluted. We ordered the 12 hour beef short rib ($37) and the chicken sausage pasta ($23). I got the short rib at the Orange location and it was delicious so I ordered it here and it was still great. The green beans were not as good but we liked the fried onions. The chicken sausage pasta was decent and we both really liked the pappardelle pasta. For drinks I also ordered the on my to-do list ($13) which had a tiki feel because of the orgeat. Overall my experience was better at the Orange location but the food here was still good. Reservations can be made online ahead of time so you can avoid waiting in line for a table. read more

What a spot!!! Great area and location. We loved our food & drinks, especially the Country bread... it was basically like savory donuts with yummy whipped ranch butter. The portion of butter was perfect, whereas other places sometimes skimp. Also got the seared ahi lettuce wraps which were great- the sauce on them was yummmy! Staff was friendly and our server was attentive. We started with the pig candy which was amazing! The prime rib dip was tender and flavorful. The shrimp and grits were just okay. I was hoping for a more Gouda forward flavoring so I was a little disappointed. Not as cheesy as I would have liked and without the creole sauce the grits were very bland. The texture is not as creamy as I like either. Overall two of the three dishes were very tasty, restaurant has a nice ambience and the staff is friendly and attentive.
