Compared to the Irvine location this place is not great for a few reasons. Initially I really wanted to give this place a good review but after a few weeks of thought, this place was not the night we were hoping for. Was looking forward to it all week with my girls esp since the irvine location is so good! Even with my elite reservation we had a small wait (no big deal) but then were sat in the back and not treated for water for up to 20 mins after being se ated. Once the waiter came we had to ask for waters and then he came back to let us know to hurry and order now bc he a large group would be ordering soon. It was unclear if he was sharing this problem with us as he insinuated we would get less then service or to rush our food order in bc it would then take forever. Either way, our table of 4 did think a restaurant should be able to still deliver good service if we weren't as large of a group, the waiter really ruined the experience with his off handed comments about us ladies not being able to handle drinks, his fatigue, and small talk was off putting. He grinned oddly and tried to be friendly but it was just not landing at our table, & came across as weird. The mashed potatoes were really the only thing I wanted but came out cold and not buttery or soft, with the steak. At irvine they are fluffy, buttery and soft. The salads were charged double the price bc my friends got meat so they payed about $40 for subpar salads. The food was merely ok, and the service lacked. We had nice convos but were always interrupted by the above. We do not plan on going back to this location. read more

We have frequented this established at least once a week for the past couple months and the consistency with service and food is off the chart! That's what we keep coming back! The sugar barrel steak is my normal order but today, I took a risk, and ordered something different and the short rib did not disappoint. We came here on a Saturday night and made reservations beforehand for a party of three. This location in Orange had limited street parking and no private lot so I parked a bit further away and walked over. PORK BELLY POUTINE ($15) - this was so good! It was cheesy and not super salty. My only issue with it was that it was wedge fries but other than that, it was a solid poutine. 4/5 12 HOUR BEEF SHORT RIB ($37) - this is their top item and I can see why. This short ribs were so tender that I didn't even need a knife. Even the potatoes and green beans were delicious and flavorful too. Even though I was really full I pushed to clean my plate because it was so good. This dish definitely hit the spot and I recommend getting this. 5/5 I also tried a bite of the sugar barrel steak ($37) and that tasted great too. For drinks I got the 38 special ($14) which was delicious and right up my alley. I also got the gentle reminder ($15) which was orangey and slightly bitter. I went here after work for happy hour with some co-workers. I had the jack and coke which was good, not too strong. I also had the butter burger off their happy hour menu which I thought was pretty good. Otherwise, the restaurant had a really, fun open atmosphere. Servers were attentive and timely. My first time here was on Thanksgiving (2023) with friends/family. No one felt like cooking so because a couple people in our party had been here before and Bosscat had a Thanksgiving special we said "Let's Do It". We arrived and it has a really nice interior. The staff was friendly and walked us to our table. Our server was very nice and was attentive. They came back to the table just enough without it being too much. You can tell they were paying attention to us, which I appreciate. The manager on duty stopped by to check on us as well. All the food was brought to the table at at the same time with the help of additional staff. Our table was loaded. Everything was hot and very tasty. All traditional Thanksgiving items were served. Of course we had Apple pie and vanilla ice cream for dessert. Needless to say I'll be back to enjoy Bosscat during a normal day. First off, I stumbled on this restaurant from Yelp and we are so glad I did! The patio is amazing, provides great people watching. The restaurant as a whole is a vibe! The food was delicious; started with the butter rolls (don't pass these up!), spinach artichoke spring rolls, and sweet corn poppers. My daughter and I split the crispy chicken sandwich (spicy) and my husband had the crispy chicken salad (was awesome!)... of course we couldn't pass up the dessert. Our cute server told us to get the banana pudding and we picked the crisp apple pie - HOLY COW! Both were epic (banana honestly surprised me). This review is based on overall experience. I say we loved most of our interactions with hostess and waitress. Food was on point. I rank it in this order: bosscat fries, chicken sausage pasta, Kansas Chicken Meat balls, Mac and cheese, fried chicken sandwich, spicy chicken dip and chips. I got to say a lot of food was some of the tastiest meals I've had in a long time. My only gripe was that the chips were stale. If that was fresh I would say the restaurant deserves a 4.5 star rating. Service when being attended to was nice, but it took us 15min. to be able to order drinks then another 15 mins. to order food. So kind of slow service. The food once ordered came out quick which was nice. We had hungry kids so that 45 min or so to get our food had us having some hangry kids. I know this isn't an ideal restaurant to bring children, but as parents we wanted to semi have a date night and to order some good appetizers and a drink to relax a little. Drinks wise. Yes to all. Whiskey selections were huge and their mixed cocktails was strong yet balanced. The few beers they had on tap was excellent too. I'm glad my family and I stumbled onto this great tasting menu. Honestly we've only been here for brunch, but we enjoy that a lot. One factor is that they take reservations and it sure is better than all the zombie lines for weekend brunch around the circle. The menu is quite varied with many appealing entrees that should appeal to a wide range of tastes. Start with a cocktail cause it's brunch baby! The Flaming Hot Cheetos Bloody Mary is a fun choice. We've enjoyed a number of the entrees and found them all delicious. Service was pleasant and attentive for our most recent group of 6. Very good. I got the veggie burger on Monday. A very nice young lady Katherine/Catherine helped me with a takeout. She what's extremely helpful. The veggie burger was exceptionally good. It came with chips. I told her I would give the burger a rating since i've been rating all the veggie burgers in the city of Orange, however, two places I had to go out of Orange - which was Burger King in Santa Ana, and Rubys in Tustin. Otherwise, all the other places were in Orange. If anyone knows Katherine, tell her that I gave a rating of nine out of ten. This is the first time I've really rated on this site. Nice surprise. A friend recommended this spot after a reunion of sorts get-together. First, the general area is super cool, lots of shops and a happening vibe. We came for dinner and beers. Our server, Christian A, was super attentive and everyone in the restaurant was very cordial. We sat out on the front patio and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I had the bosscat burger ($22) which was amazing, I crushed it. It is described as custom ground beef, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, house made pickles, with comeback sauce. Met a friend here for happy hour and it's a fun meet up spot. They have a pretty decent happy hour menu with the short rib grilled cheese as the must have. Cut in two pieces, it's perfect for sharing. We did not like the Korean fried chicken sliders however, as the bread was hard and the chicken was not crispy. We liked the short rib so much that we decided to share the short rib entree and they really do that dish well. Then for dessert, we were quite puzzled by the beignets because upon biting into one, it was a bit dense in texture and not at all fluffy and airy like we were expecting. On top of that, the flavor had a really salty aftertaste and I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and thought that some salt was added to balance the sweetness of the marshmallow/dipping sauce, but the more we dissected, the more we realized it was a botched batch. I did bring it to our servers attention and they did take it off the bill, which was nice of them. So the food was hit or miss. Great decor and ambiance. Service was excellent. This is a place to get cocktails with friends, and maybe a few bar food bites, but not for a proper dinner. read more

First off, the parking here is TERRIBLE. I circled the area for 20 minutes trying to find parking. My friends and I got a reservation here at 2pm for brunch on a Saturday. Due to the parking issue, we arrived a little late at 2:10. As soon as we were sat, we were informed that the kitchen would be closing and last call was at 2:15! We felt so rushed to order. Even if we had gotten there on time at 2pm, I don't think 15 minutes is enough time to settle down and decide on a meal and order. They should not be seating people that closely to kitchen closing. I got the breakfast burrito (good, but greasy) and my friends got the chilaquiles (also good). We got the beignets to share (dense, not fluffy, wouldn't recommend). This was my 2nd time coming here, but first time to eat. There is a lot of history to this place including the old liquor store before this and rods. It's been around a very long time and definitely gives the Orange Circle some charm. The ambience and decorations inside are awesome. I came here last night with my beautiful date. We had dinner at 5pm. Just before they started to get very busy. Our server was Charisse, and she was a gem. Super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. If you read this Charisse, I am coming back for your Kale Salad! We ordered the shaved pork chop sandwich combo and for me the traditional bosscat burger, hold the pickles! She loved her sandwich and had some leftovers to boot. I gobbled mine. Both were excellent. Charisse was excellent. My date was excellent. My husband and I are definitely impressed with the quality of service and flavors of the food offered here this time around, and we think that the first visit was just an unlucky night. During this second visit, the food came out promptly and our server, Hailey, would check in on us frequently, make sure our waters were filled, and would just make sure we were well taken care of throughout our meal. We ordered the pig candy as a starter, and it paired so well with the daikon kimchi. I'm not typically a fan of kimchi, but this dish paired kimchi and pork belly so well that I ate it with every bite. My main entree was the pork chop. I am also not a typical pork chop girl, but this cut was tender, flavorful, and juicy! The portion size was just right for me and I was left feeling satisfied and not painfully full. The polenta and green beans that came with the pork chop really complemented the pork chop and balanced out the dish very well. I thoroughly enjoyed the tenderness and juiciness of the pork chop. For dessert, we opted for the chocolate buttermilk bar. It was amazing. I've never had a dessert like that before, but you bet we ate every last crumb on the plate. The chocolate wasn't too sweet, and the softness of the chocolate paired perfectly with the chewiness of the nougat that it sat on top of. I really wish it was bigger just because I loved it, but the portion size was perfect to be shared between two. I had such a better experience this second time around, and I'd come back just for their dessert. Came here for my husband's birthday, we ordered some appetizers and the spinach berry salad. Which was very tasty. My husband's favorite drink is an old fashion. He ordered one with his favorite whiskey and he said it was good, but It didn't have the Luxardo cherry in it. Which I mentioned to the waitress and she said "oh dear, I'll go get one" she never did. No biggie though. The ambiance is very nice warm and cozy. We were seated outside. The one negative for us was the music volume. It was very very loud, and the music was with a pounding beat that never changed in the tempo. I think I could understand that on a Friday and Saturday for a younger crowd, but we went on a Sunday night. Honestly I do not know how anyone could carry on a conversation with the volume as loud as it was. Came back to give this place another chance during a less busy lunch on a Wednesday and was thoroughly impressed by the food and service! Robin and Hayley were very attentive and helpful for the menu suggestions since I was not satisfied with the dish I ordered last time. Pig Candy - I'm not the biggest fan of kimchi, but this dish needs it for its great balance of sweet, savory and sourness! The decadent melt-in-your-mouth pork belly is very enjoyable with the kimchi cutting through the fattiness. Sugar Barrel Steak - Also pleasantly surprised since an NY strip isn't my favorite steak cut but this one was very juicy and tender! Cowboy butter was flavorful with a hint of citrus that makes you crave more bites. The baked potato had a jalapeño cheddar sauce that was good and the green beans were seasoned well. Chocolate Bourbon Buttermilk Bar - Very decadent dessert with a smooth mousse like topping and nougat crust. The berries and cream cheese on the side help balance out the bites as well.
