You can never go wrong when going to Bosscat. It does tend to get busy so I highly suggest to get there early or make a reservation, especially if you are going with a group of friends/coworkers. The restaurant is located in the old Rod's Liquor in Old Towne Orange. Their menu is Southern inspired and they specialize in whiskey. They even have a room you can reserve that is quite posh. Perfect for all the IG people who like to take pics. I always try to visit during happy hour which is from 3pm-6pm. They have some appetizers, food, drinks, and beers at a great price. I tend to order the short rib grilled cheese because it is so filling and I pair it with the Bosscat fries. I can order a million orders of those fries because they are that good. They are definitely a must try. If you do not eat meat, they have lots of other entrees that are great, too. The salads and sandwiches are really good. They are pet friendly so you can also bring your food babies and enjoy some great food with great company out in the patio. Definitely a great place to hang out in the summer. read more

New favorite resto in Orange. On a recent trip with the family, decided to late lunch and enjoy some craft cocktails and delicious food. I had tomato bisque and berry summer salad combo. It came with the most amazing sourdough bread. My Moscone Mule had perfect ginger beer to vodka to lime ratio. The most delicious thing was for dessert -fried apple pie. I met up with a friend last night for dinner, didnt realize the parking situation had changed a little bit since the city enacted a new parking system in the downtown area. If you look on the City website, there is still free parking in certain lots around the downtown area but the street parking around the circle is now managed by parkmobile which is an app based system where you pay online. Since it was a Friday night, the scene in downtown was pretty lively, lots of people walking around and visiting the local restaurants and bars. For dinner i ordered the 12-hr shortrib and my friend ordered the salmon. The staff was very accommodating when she mentioned her shellfish allergy and took the necessary precautions so that there wasnt any cross contamination. They did provide the typical warning that although they did take the necessary precautions that there was always the chance of some exposure as food is prepared in a central kitchen they did switch out the tongs, pans and prepared her meal separately from the common work stations which you dont necesssarily get a such a thorough explanation which is reassuring. Overall we were both happy with our meals, the short rib was very tender and the portion size of the entree was filling. read more

I didn't know this location existed. I think it replaced the Filling Station (sad to see it closed). This one is a much bigger location than the Irvine one that I frequented (the office complex one). Unfortunately, I couldn't finish it, so I asked for a different plate. I ordered the chicken sausage pasta and it was very salty. I didn't finish it. Located in Old Town Orange, we've passed this place countless times and always wanted to check it out. They were one of the participating restaurants in the OC Dine Out Day, donating 20% of sales to the LA Regional Food Bank so we decided to finally check it out. The atmosphere is fantastic, with TVs over the bar, and they promptly switched the channel to the local hockey game as requested. The history of the building is super interesting--it was once a liquor store for 70 years and OC's first gas station. They've kept many original fixtures to showcase its unique past. We arrived just 10 minutes before the end of Happy Hour and tried the Left Hand nitro stout on draft, a short rib grilled cheese, and a butter burger. The first two were excellent and would definitely order again, but the burger was a bit underwhelming. For entrees, we went with the butcher pork chop and shrimp and grits. Both were flavorful and filling, so much so that we ended up taking most of it home. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and gave great recommendations, though as the restaurant got busier, it was harder to get her attention. The meal was on the pricier side, even with the Happy Hour specials, but overall, it was worth it. We came here on a Saturday night and made reservations beforehand for a party of three. This location in Orange had limited street parking and no private lot so I parked a bit further away and walked over. PORK BELLY POUTINE ($15) - this was so good! It was cheesy and not super salty. My only issue with it was that it was wedge fries but other than that, it was a solid poutine. 4/5 12 HOUR BEEF SHORT RIB ($37) - this is their top item and I can see why. This short ribs were so tender that I didn't even need a knife. Even the potatoes and green beans were delicious and flavorful too. Even though I was really full I pushed to clean my plate because it was so good. This dish definitely hit the spot and I recommend getting this. 5/5 I also tried a bite of the sugar barrel steak ($37) and that tasted great too. For drinks I got the 38 special ($14) which was delicious and right up my alley. I also got the gentle reminder ($15) which was orangey and slightly bitter. No one felt like cooking so because a couple people in our party had been here before and Bosscat had a Thanksgiving special we said "Let's Do It". We arrived and it has a really nice interior. The staff was friendly and walked us to our table. Our server was very nice and was attentive. They came back to the table just enough without it being too much. You can tell they were paying attention to us, which I appreciate. The manager on duty stopped by to check on us as well. All the food was brought to the table at at the same time with the help of additional staff. Our table was loaded. Everything was hot and very tasty. All traditional Thanksgiving items were served. Of course we had Apple pie and vanilla ice cream for dessert. Needless to say I'll be back to enjoy Bosscat during a normal day. First off, the parking here is TERRIBLE. I circled the area for 20 minutes trying to find parking. My friends and I got a reservation here at 2pm for brunch on a Saturday. Due to the parking issue, we arrived a little late at 2:10. As soon as we were sat, we were informed that the kitchen would be closing and last call was at 2:15! We felt so rushed to order. Even if we had gotten there on time at 2pm, I don't think 15 minutes is enough time to settle down and decide on a meal and order. They should not be seating people that closely to kitchen closing. I got the breakfast burrito (good, but greasy) and my friends got the chilaquiles (also good). We got the beignets to share (dense, not fluffy, wouldn't recommend). Compared to the Irvine location this place is not great for a few reasons. Initially I really wanted to give this place a good review but after a few weeks of thought, this place was not the night we were hoping for. Was looking forward to it all week with my girls esp since the irvine location is so good! Even with my elite reservation we had a small wait (no big deal) but then were sat in the back and not treated for water for up to 20 mins after being se ated. Once the waiter came we had to ask for waters and then he came back to let us know to hurry and order now bc he a large group would be ordering soon. It was unclear if he was sharing this problem with us as he insinuated we would get less then service or to rush our food order in bc it would then take forever. Either way, our table of 4 did think a restaurant should be able to still deliver good service if we weren't as large of a group, the waiter really ruined the experience with his off handed comments about us ladies not being able to handle drinks, his fatigue, and small talk was off putting. He grinned oddly and tried to be friendly but it was just not landing at our table, & came across as weird. The mashed potatoes were really the only thing I wanted but came out cold and not buttery or soft, with the steak. At irvine they are fluffy, buttery and soft. The salads were charged double the price bc my friends got meat so they payed about $40 for subpar salads. The food was merely ok, and the service lacked. We had nice convos but were always interrupted by the above. We do not plan on going back to this location. read more

We enjoyed lunch there yesterday, and were greeted with all around great service. They were super accommodating in getting quick, kid friendly meals in for our kids. Honestly we've only been here for brunch, but we enjoy that a lot. One factor is that they take reservations and it sure is better than all the zombie lines for weekend brunch around the circle. The menu is quite varied with many appealing entrees that should appeal to a wide range of tastes. Start with a cocktail cause it's brunch baby! The Flaming Hot Cheetos Bloody Mary is a fun choice. We've enjoyed a number of the entrees and found them all delicious. Service was pleasant and attentive for our most recent group of 6.
