I have never experienced such RUDE customer service. I am incredibly patient, however, after waiting 30+ minutes just to order (with only two people before me in line), the cashier was extremely rude and scolded me for not knowing the menu. She practically threw my desserts at me all while the other staff members literally just stood behind her and stared. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because the food was delicious and I had a wonderful chat with the dishwasher while I ate. He is the only reason I would ever consider going back, however for now, I am going to stay FAR away. read more

We love Boudin... I need to say that first. 2 stars because of the service, not the food. We did arrive to the restaurant before closing but weren't aware of the store hours. While ordering with the cashier Kiyanna at 8:43 we asked her about portion sizes because we were trying to feed two adults and two children (ages 6 & 11). The cashier said the two salad and clam chowder bread bowl combos would be enough for the four of us, but if we wanted to order more food we could. As we placed our order we asked for ingredients to be excluded from the Asian salad, but the cashier seemed to be focused with something else and wasn't listening to the details of our order. (Turns out she needed to close the register.) Food comes out, the kids get the soup and the adults are left with the side salads, and for us a side salad just isn't enough for dinner. So at 9:11 we go back to order a sandwich to split and we are met with an utterly disappointing, no, we're closed. read more

Had a coupon for a discount on a purchase so I thought I would try this place out. I purchased a loaf of the Asiago bread and it was delicious. There was a very small wait so that was nice. I had never been to Boudin before so I asked the girl at the counter about two different breads that I was interested in. She didn't seem to know anything about either one and called someone else over who provided some input. Might be a good idea to let your counter staff try your product if they haven't so they can recommend things to newbies. It has been almost a year since my last visit. After last years' fiasco, I really didn't want to return. However, my friend talked me into having a light dinner so I reluctantly returned. It was 6pm and I walked in eyeing for the same handicap table. Great the worker was just clearing the old plates and cups so I was patiently waiting. This worker was painstakingly working to clear everything off in 3 intervals. (There were only 3 plates and three cups but I'm just being picky here.) What I couldn't understand was why she never wiped down the table and chair? As I approached to the table, it had crumbs, water and grease to the chair and table. The chair has a child's hand print with his/her grease. I didn't understand why she could have missed that. I actually went to the ladies room and took to some wet paper towels and cleaned the table and seats myself. (The runners were busy standing by the kitchen.) On to the food ordering. The nice gal at the register was fine. I asked if the half salad and half turkey sandwich was made with sourdough baguettes. She took out the paper menu and read that it was. Great, I love their sourdough baguette! Places my order and waited. Food came and what did I get? Wilted Caesar salad and havarti/ turkey on soft sourdough. I didn't even know they made soft sourdough. Or did they not bake the bread long enough? Or, was I suppose to verify if they had hard sourdough? I never had to do that in the SF stores. Needless to say, I was not too happy. Yes, I could have went to the kitchen or counter and asked for it to be changed but I remembered my last encounter a year ago and decided I didn't want a possible repeat. I ate it and enjoyed my time with my friend. This will be my last, last time coming to this boudin. Yes, one might say I can be hard to please but if I am paying close to 10.00 for a small half sandwich and salad, I think I can have my order made correctly and a clean handicap table. Boudin is a good company with great product. Just wished I could have had a better outcome. read more

I sneak in here occasionally for a salad and a cup of clam chowder (especially when I'm in a hurry because it's just downstairs from my office). The clam chowder is always great here, but the salads need some help (yes, "little" details). The salads are flavored well, but they tend to chop up the lettuce into such small pieces it makes it hard to eat with a fork. Cut the lettuce into larger pieces so that they can be easily eaten with a fork in a reasonable time. It may look cute and pretty chopped up that small, but sometime function should be more important than form. If you can address this, we can add one more star. read more

Ordered a couple of sandwiches to go today so we could eat them at the park. I ordered a ham and brie sandwich. Noticed right away when I sat down to eat my sandwich that the brie cheese slices were hard as a rock. Brie cheese is supposed to be smooth and creamy. The kitchen had cut off the old end of the brie cheese round that had hardened due prolonged to exposure to air and instead of throwing the bad cheese away they but it on my sandwich. I wanted to throw up. I couldn't eat the $10 sandwich because I was wondering if the ham was old too. Also the sour dough bread was over-baked with almost black crust. Both sandwiches $10 sandwiches ended up in the trash. What a waste of $20. Better quality control in the kitchen is recommended. They saved money on some cheese but they lost two customers. read more

The food is consistent with other Boudin locations I've been to. It does feel like service is slower than at other locations though. I'm not sure if the staff is less trained, or if they need more people. It's not a place I would be able to stop by for a quick bite to eat. However, the staff they do have seem to value customer service a lot, so I do enjoy coming here to eat when I have time to sit. If they could speed up the service, it would be 5 stars! read more

Returned for the grilled cheese with ham and was underwhelmed. It was rather bland and lacked any crunch. I guess I should have asked for the tomato soup to go with it. This is my first time coming to this location. I'm giving it two stars because of the customer service and the wait time. I simply ordered two soups in a bread bowl to-go, and I had to wait 30 minutes for my order (not even kidding!). I ordered before there was a crowd, too. The cashier/employee lady was very rude and not welcoming at all. I felt very rushed when ordering and when I checked on my order after 20 minutes, the lady rudely told me that my food is coming and that I had to wait... Just got a sandwich here for the first (and last) time. The BLT looked so good in the photo, I was really craving it. The service on my second trip was well, not up to par, but the good news is Ron from customer service in San Francisco went out of his way to make it right! I made sure to explain thoroughly what happened and gave him my specific information date and time of visit, receipt number et cetera and he helped me out. A go-to place for me and the kiddos! Very kid friendly! From the moment you enter the store, crayons and coloring menus are available. I love the veggie scramble for breakfast. The grilled Brie sandwiches are yummy too. The kids love everything in the kid's menu -- especially the cookies. Bathrooms are clean. Parking is not an issue on this end of the complex. read more

My family placed a large online order Saturday night to pick up. We had to wait a long time as the service was terrible, and they messed up our order and left things out. The food itself overall was not that great. The salads and soup were good, but the sandwiches were barely ok. I personally ordered a burger and it was one of the worst burgers I have ever had, it was small, very dry and barely had any condiments on it. we had all been really looking forward to the food but overall for the price paid it is not worth it at all and I would never recommend this place to anyone. I walked in here with my partner and my two dogs to get a sandwich. Both dogs were in our arms. We planned to go outside and eat with them. The dick behind the counter wouldn't let us order our sandwiches and then walk outside. Both dogs had to be outside before we ordered. There was no line, taking our order would have taken 30 seconds, the dogs being inside for that extra 30 seconds wouldn't have hurt anyone. First of all, I am a BIG FAN of this restaurant chain. I can eat the BBQ Chicken Salad every day. However, on this occasion, my wife decided to get take-out on her way home from work. We've never eaten at this location. When my wife got home, I told her that she ordered "half-salads" by accident. She reminded me that there are only one size salads. I usually eat in the restaurant, and I can barely finish this salad. But, it looked like this restaurant ripped us off by only giving us about half the normal portion in the take-out container. The first give-away was that the container was not even half full. I was angry but not angry enough to drive all the way back to the store to complain. Let this Yelp review suffice. Buyer beware. If you order take-away salads from this store, please make sure to look at it first, before you leave. I will continue to support this chain, but I will NEVER return to store #470, the Almaden Plaza Store. You only get one chance to rip me off! Shame on you! read more

Wow, OK I will say this-- the food here was absolutely incredible and normally service is good. However, something happened today that has made me decide to never visit here again. I was with my friends and my dog, who is a small sweet, gentle service dog. My friends and I are having a wonderful time up until a fuming female Hispanic employee comes up CLAPPING, CLAPPING. YES. She clapped at us. And she pointed her finger at the door, and yelled at us to leave the premises immediately. And then she lied and said the manager had warned us, which absolutely never happened. I have never been this disrespected in my entire life. She didn't even let me explain about how my dog soothes my anxiety, she just kicked us out. So disrespectful. I was going to leave such a kind tip until that happened. Please fire her, or shape her up. I understand why she'd be upset, maybe I shouldn't have brought my tiny chihuahua to Boudin. She could've at least spoken to my group of friends like the adults we were, but instead she chose to bark at us as if we were kids on a playground. So rude. All she had to say was "please remove your dog." She didn't have to scream and clap and shout at us to practically get the fuck out. Yesterday I came here for lunch. Did an order and had it for togo. I was waiting a lot longer than i usually do for my orders. So at least 20 mins go by and I'm still waiting for my order. I get it, it was short staffed and somewhat busy. So 30 mins or more go by and I'm still waiting and that's when I started to get really irritated. The person that did a togo order later than I did got his food before me. That's when I got upset and really pissed off. So I went to one of the managers and said that I've been waiting for a long time for my food and I have 5 mins to eat because I'm on my lunch break. He said he would void my transaction and I would get my food in a couple of mins. So 5 mins go by and I get my food. It was really kind of him to void my transaction, but waiting that long for a salad and side of soup togo for 30-35 mins is unacceptable. I'm not sure if they have changed up their management or something, but this place has really gone down hill since. I work in the same plaza and I always go here for lunch. But after this one incident, I don't really think I want to go back ever. It's safe to say, I think I won't be returning to this location again. read more
