The Stockton store went way downhill. This place used to be so good. Not sure what happened with the last manager. However, this manager and the team is horrible. The manager must be a family member, for the original owners to allow this location to go so far down. I stopped in today, after months. 6 months, checked my last review. Yes had an issue that time. Thought maybe the staff changed. I ordered on the kiosk as always, most of the staff looked at me repeatedly, finally, one offered to help, after a customer, a lady nicely told him I was first, he told me he will be with me after. After finishing, he said someone will get my ordered made. No one ever acknowledged my order. Some staff, kept going to the back, coming up front, looking at each other and laughing. So, since the shake machine is in the back, out of sight, I didn't trust them making it, so I stopped a staff member and asked to cancel my order. He did without an issue, because no one bother to start it. As the on duty manager was refunding me. A staff member came from the back and lowly asked him if it was canceled. He turned and said yes. So maybe, they already cleaned the machine and don't want to use it, not sure. He did offer a free pastry, I had one on my order, but told him no, it was ok. Always make a point to withhold your money, if you aren't treated as a wanted customer. Everything is too high nowadays. And unfortunately, employees think, their bosses pay them, regardless of money coming through the business. Also, after the previous manager, the food quality has gone way down. Food is always great! But one thing I wanted to mention, which grossed me out, was the food prep service station. I'm assuming is behind the open window... the worker the day that I was there has curly hair just bouncing all over the place while making food, also witnessed him scratch his head and beard... not sure why he was not wearing a hat or something to prevent hair from falling in. 5/28/25 - I came to Boudin because it's summer salad season, and I love salads!!!! I ordered the chicken Caesar salad with a side of tuna. I love their tuna!!! For the first time In a while there actually were people sitting down dining. Ever since the pandemic Boudin has not been the same. Maybe it's the time I come usually after 4. I have been there after 2 and no customers. Yesterday there was a group of men (about 10 or 12) and there were other patrons who came in and picked up food and of course there was some door dash. The manager came out and apologized for the long wait, he said he got back-logged and I wasn't even bothered by it. I understand that there were other people ahead of me. I was just happy to be out of the house!!! My salad was very good, I ate all of it!!! My total with iced tea was $21.00. When we arrive, we walked in and we're walking with the warm smell of sourdough bread. There is a lot of parking out front and there wasn't a long line so that was nice. After a couple minutes of pondering the menu, we decided on a couple of items to share. We got a Panini, a clam chowder soup, and a salad that came with a side soup as well. We found our own table and sat down and got herself some waters while we waited. About 10 to 15 minutes later our food came out straight to our table and we were able to enjoy. Food was really good. Ordered the Cobb salad and fries. Both were made well, bacon was hot, avocado was perfect, chicken was tasty. The fries were also hot and tasted great. The cleanliness was not good, dirty plates and dirty tables precluded people from sitting at more than 4 tables. This is an adorable little "fast food "restaurant. I am gluten-free and I was easily able to eat in one of their delicious salads - I went with the power grain bowl, and it was absolutely amazing and also vegetarian. My friend is a regular there and got a free loaf of bread with her loyalty program. This company has been making sourdough in San Francisco for over 200 years and they even have adorable shapes such as turtles dinosaurs and turkeys that you can buy. I can only imagine the joy on a child's face when you come home with one of these adorable and delicious creations. I absolutely adored this place and enjoyed the food. I wish I lived closer so I could eat there more often. If I'm in town again, I will definitely be stopping in for another salad. read more

If you ask me what my favorite food is out of all the food on the planet, and I have traveled around the world, I will say a grilled cheese on Bodine sourdough and mean it with my whole being. I was so excited to find this restaurant located in Stockton! I visit family and always looking for options that have something for everyone. Unfortunately my recent food order was so bad that we had to throw half of the food away. The clam chowder- the potatoes were undercooked. The chicken in the salad was rubbery and we could not eat it. The pizza was terrible. Hard thin crust with spaghetti sauce! I am not sure what was going on. The sourdough bread was alright. We have used Boudin Stockton to cater a party (3 years ago) and everyone raved about the salads and boxed lunches. We have also picked up large orders several times. However this past week, we picked up some salads and sandwiches before 11:00 am. We served lunch at noon; I found the breads were tough; chicken salad was salty; the lettuce in the sandwiches were wilted, including the lettuces in the Gem Salads. The line was quite long so it was nice to just walk up and pick up my order. The order was for 4 people and my mistake was not putting in the notes to separate the meals bc they put everything in one large bag and had to dig the stuff out and separate into another bag. Now this place is run down , sure they've done some updates inside and have changed the menu and that's great I love that but what about the outside patio the fans and the outside fire pit doesn't work and the food is cool but not as good as before to many newer people with less experience and poor working skills . I am a 4 year local resident and did not know that this restaurant existed in the area. It's tucked away in the shopping center. My niece suggested we visit for lunch and I am so glad we did. The service was good, the restaurant was very clean and the food was amazing! You just place your order at the kiosk or counter and they give you a number for someone to bring your food out. The specialize in bread and have many options on the menu including salads and burgers. I opted for a half sandwich and half salad meal which was great! How do you run out of bread bowls at Boudin's for their clam chowder. Went there for dinner because kiddos wanted chowder with bread bowls. Ordered from the kiosk because the cashier was taking forever. Dined in, restaurant was empty at 7pm. All booths were not cleared from patrons. That should have been our cue to eat somewhere else. Every booth had dirty dishes, utensils and cups on them still. It would take my kid five minutes max to clear off the tables. No napkins in the dispenser. No ice in the ice dispenser. Soap dispensers in the restrooms were not operational with soap refills units hanging over the sink. The general manager needs to be replaced as she's not doing a great job managing the place. She claims to be short staffed, but come on, the restaurant was empty. Sure there are door dash customers, but make sure the dine in patrons are taken care of too. Not coming back. read more

Very disappointed. Wanted a great sandwich on some great sourdough bread. I ordered my sandwich and I ordered to go. When I got home I expected to have a sandwich made with their great sourdough bread but no, it wasn't. My mom also brought some of their rolls and even they were not sourdough bread. What gives? I used to love going to Boudins and order the pick two because I could pick any two I wanted. Since then they have changed their menu and made pick 2s you can shoose from. My partner got the tomato soup and cheese sandwich. I got the french dip and ceaser salad. I was able to eat the salad. there was very little meat on the sandwich and it tasted horrible. Note: this is a two part review, as I've ordered take out from this location, and use the catering service for business lunches. It was a cold night and I wanted some hot soup and stopped by Boudin to pick up clam chowder and butternut squash soup. To my surprise, there was a free reward on my rewards account so I went home with a lovely, crusty, loaf of sourdough bread! I've loved the clam chowder for years, it always hits the spot so I got one for the next day, and butternut squash for dinner. The chowder hits the spot; like same recipe every time, always yummy. The butternut squash was just ok, not pronounced in flavor and I prefer my soups a bit thicker. I did love the toppings that added flavor and texture; so much so that I now use same when I make butternut squash soup at home. I use the catering service to cater about 80% of the time for work luncheons. You may want to consider an earlier delivery time to ensure timely delivery, as ours are frequently late, because the driver has other deliveries to make as well. One occasion a lunch was forgotten but we received it fairly quickly. Once we received a salad with a huge lettuce core in it. Thank goodness the salad order just so happened to be mine, as I would have been mortified had it been our business guests order. Boudin did refund for the salad and the next salad order (entirely separate luncheon) was perfect. read more
