I hadn't been here for quite some time but suddenly found myself craving clam chowder during the heat wave of 2020. Quite frankly, their chowder is not the best I've ever had but it really hit the spot on that very warm August day, lol. That said, I do like their chowder but I have also enjoyed many other items on the menu as well. Their grilled cheese sandwiches are probably my favorite. I recently tried the grilled cheese with ham on Parmesan crusted sourdough with Dijon mustard...to die for! I also love their spring salad, and for breakfast the bacon scramble and sourdough French toast. I think they use high quality ingredients and I appreciate that they are consistent. Very disappointed. Wanted a great sandwich on some great sourdough bread. I ordered my sandwich and I ordered to go. When I got home I expected to have a sandwich made with their great sourdough bread but no, it wasn't. My mom also brought some of their rolls and even they were not sourdough bread. What gives? I used to love going to Boudins and order the pick two because I could pick any two I wanted. Since then they have changed their menu and made pick 2s you can shoose from. My partner got the tomato soup and cheese sandwich. I got the french dip and ceaser salad. I was able to eat the salad. there was very little meat on the sandwich and it tasted horrible. The grilled cheese was very good! The tomato soup was as well. The chicken pesto could use some fixing. They add very little chicken and the breads texture is similar to that of beef jerkeys. I love Boudin Sourdough bread and there is nothing like warming up with a bread bowl of clam chowder on a chilly SF day or grabbing a delicious sandwich and snacking down the pier in the sunshine... I have been visiting Boudin in San Francisco since I was a young girl and have nothing but fond memories. This week, I tried the Stockton location and I really liked that I was able to order online, especially since things get so busy at the end of the year. The store was packed and pick up still took a while, but I figured that was a good sign. When I arrived home, there was also au jus all over my car seat that had spilled through the container and paper bag, but that happens sometime. When I arrived home and started getting the food out, I was really surprised. The sandwiches were small and had very little in them; not at all the sandwiches I remember. Please see the photos to get an understanding of what I mean. You will notice that the Patty melt that is described as "melted sharp cheddar cheese, creamy Havarti cheese, juicy burger, caramelized onions on Parmesan-crusted sourdough bread" literally had 2 tiny slivers of onion. I challenge you to find the onion, or to look at the BLAT and think that there was anywhere near enough ingredients on it. I was told the BLAT was a lot like eating bread (and you can tell why from the photos) but luckily for us, Boudin Sourdough is still delicious. I ordered the Grilled Brie with Apples & Fig Jam for myself and it came with kettle chips. My meal, although small, had decent flavor and I would order it again. The French dip was the only really inedible item; the bread tasted horrible. Fortunately we used what was left of the au jus and dipped the meat in and fed it to our dog and she liked it, so it wasn't all bad. Although we appreciated that the store followed the notes on the order about how we like our meat cooked, the others I was dining with were very disappointed in their portions, and said the flavor was just ok. I cannot in good conscious give this location more than 3 stars but I would be willing to give them another try in the future to see if they have improved. read more

Food was okay. I was feeding teenage boys so they liked the pizza and burger. Meat from the brisket and pastrami melts were fatty. When you order for pick up, order early. I placed my order for pick up at 10:40. The pick up time was 11:30. I got there at 11:24. They said it would be ten minutes. The order wasn't ready until 11:46. After feeling a little under the weather for a few days, it was nice to feel better and visit this location for a nice chowder bowl and a half Mediterranean Gyro. I feel bad due to the weather condition it brought in a lot more people at this location even though this business stays busy on its own. We were lucky to have available seating by the time we place our order. When you walk in you can either place your order yourself in the kiosk Lane or you can wait to be assisted with the cashier. There are also menus in the line so that you can have your order ready by the time you get to the front of the line. I like the fact that one a table was done with an associate came out right away and cleared and clean the area ready for the next available guess. I would say that I only visit here once a year, but during the time that I do, I always enjoy my meal from here. always looking forward to the next one. read more

The variety of sour dough breads are sold behind the counter (sliced or whole). It's a bakery as well as a small cafe. The cafe food order was refreshing and made to order in timely order. The service was delivered to your number table as normal and friendly. The place was packed with people. The place was cleaned but not spic and span. You need to retrieve your own drinks and eating utensils. It's a busy casual place since it's not too far from the two colleges SJDelta and UOP on Pacific Avenue and two major shopping centers in Stockton. Ordered through their website before 11:30am. Scheduled for an "ASAP" delivery to work. The email confirmation states that our order was (confirmed) and will be delivered by 12:13pm. The delivery guy texted me to let me know that the restaurant did not have my order. After it was confirmed. It was until he showed his phone to them, then they started making my order. I called and spoke with Manager Yazi about the problem with our order. She did state that there was an error system going on with their online order. But since it was already confirmed, they didn't bother to call us to let us know that the food would be delayed. Our poor dasher waited for almost an hour from checking in to getting our food. Bless his soul for being patient. If our dasher didn't speak up at the restaurant, my colleagues and I wouldn't have known that our food was never made. My colleagues got their lunches late. Yazi had promised extra bread, dessert for each person, and a coupon for this inconvenience. A whole load of bread was given, 2 cookies and no coupon. There was a total of 5 of us that ordered. I wish I would have eaten Campbells soup at home instead and made my own grilled cheese, too. Again zero customer service effort. Also the sandwiches we had were pretty much all bread. For $40 for 2 people the food should at least be worth it. Very, very disappointed. First time customer. This review is about one dish, not the staff. My wife and I were in the mood for French Dip. Thought we'd try Boudin's for the first time, for their "classic" French Dip. Whomever creates the recipes has no clue what a classic French Dip is. A French Dip is roast beef on a roll, with a bowl of au jus to dip in. What we got was some kind of inedible chili sauce. I actually had to spit out the first bite it was so damned spicy. I asked for some mayo and mustard to salvage the rest of the meal. I was offered a different dish by the staff, so good on them, but it would have made my wife have to wait to eat hers, or me eating while she watched. So two stars for the good staff, negative three for the food and prices. Not sure if we're returning. Kind of over priced for our meal. They serve breakfast, which is awesome for people who want to grab a quick bite to eat on their way to work. Their sandwiches are so good! My favorite is their chicken salad sandwich...YUM! You can't go to Boudin SF without trying out one of their soup bread bowls....like their famous clam chowder soup bread bowl. They also have a variety of bread to choose from. I love the fact that they have an outdoor patio area with a grand fireplace that they share with their neighbor Five Guys Burger place. I did not think this place would get like this since my last review. Haven't been here for a while, but it has changed. Food was okay not as good as boudins is known for, but the really bad thing was the cleanliness. It was not packed but tables where dirty, the drink area was stained and never cleaned even when we left, but the worst thing was the amount of flies circling in the restaurant, I mean a lot of flies.
