I decided to go shopping for my birthday outfit today! After visiting many boutiques along garnet I was very hesitant if I was going to find the PERFECT outfit. As soon as I waked into the fabulous rag I was greeted and immediately helped by a girl name Gloria. She gave me a variety of outfits to try on, helped me with all the buttons when I needed assistance & even made sure I personally loved my decision! I was extremely disappointed in the customer service I received, or lack there of, at the fabulous rag. I purchased a dress for my college graduation at this store and my first time wearing it the seam completely split down the back of the dress. Luckily, I was able to locate a sewing kit before walking across the stage to get my diploma but needless to say I wasn't going to be comfortable ever wearing the dress ever again. After explaining my situation to the sales associate, she simply informed me that there was nothing she could do since the dress had already been worn and the tags removed. She wouldn't even give let me exchange it for another dress.. I will never again purchase anything from this store. Their clothing is poorly made and overpriced. Especially since its likely to rip the first time wearing it. read more

Overhyped... came here with high expectations due to the recent reviews, however yelp has actually failed me this time. The employee today didn't acknowledge me when I was sifting through clothes willing to purchase a dress or two for all the occasions I have coming up. As a retail associate of 6 plus years the customer service here was mediocre. I asked her if she had something more 'Vegas like' and her first answer was, "Well these are all the dresses we have here.." and in my head I was like 'Well no $hit Sherlock.' If your boss trained you correctly and you would have wanted to make a sale, you would asked a couple of open ended questions to start, but no... no interest in aiding a customer who was willing to purchase something. She ended up showing me a shanty boring blue dress. That's when I was over the whole experience. Oh and as some reviews have stated previously they definitely overprice their items here, for the material that they are. *Yawn* I'll take my business to Guess or Carolina Herrera where I know my purchases will be of finer quality and has amazing customer service to back it up! I wouldn't come out of my way to drive 30 mins for this place again. read more

I am so incredibly grateful for the women at the Fabulous Rag. I found some gorgeous dresses at their store (of course), but they only had 3 when I needed 4 for my bridal party. They contacted the designer to get another dress but they were discontinued (OH NO). They then called around to their sister stores and found one! They drove over an hour to pick up the extra dress for me! What incredible customer service! I now have 4 beautiful dresses that will be in my wedding photos forever. Thank you Fab Rag! read more

I absolutely LOVE this store!!! It is very seldom that I walk in a store and want everything... but it happens here. They have beautiful clothes that are unique and have style!! Fashion doesn't come easily to me, so it is wonderful that the staff there is so knowledgeable and helpful. They have everything from skinny jeans to evening gowns. I have had continual bad experiences in this store. The owner is rude and seems to think way too highly of herself rather than give the customer service you would expect from a boutique. The clothing is made mostly of Rayon, which is one of the the worst materials you can have for the environment (the process of making the fabric rayon is banned in the US because it causes that much pollution) and feels terrible against your skin, plus, it is WAY overpriced!! For a cheap synthetic fabric I would never pay the prices that are charged in this store. Not only are the fabrics cheap, but the construction is adequate at best. I do not recommend this store for any fashionista...Go somewhere else! read more

Could not have asked for a better place to shop. I just moved to San Diego and had to buy a dress for an upcoming event. With few friends down in the area that I trust to go dress shopping I ventured out alone and was pleasantly surprised by the delightful, helpful, and honest staff. They pushed me to venture out of my comfort zone and try on new and beautiful dresses that ended up being my absolute favorite. The staff was in no way pushy on purchasing and truly cared to help me to find the dress that looked best and was most appropriate for my event. Easily my favorite boutique in all of San Diego. I come shop at the fabulous rag mainly when I am in need of a new dress. They have excellent, trendy, choices... Usually when I go to get one dress, I leave with two! They are always friendly and helpful...advising on what looks good and what else could be flattering. This is my FAVORITE store in San Diego! I have been going here since they opened a few years ago. They have amazing clothes and dresses that you wont find in other stores. When I wear clothes from here, I often get stopped and complimented by strangers asking where I got my outfit. One day, I was really stopped like 10x! You can find something for all ages and body types here, I am in my late 30's. The quality is great and the prices are good and I am very picky about both. All of the staff is nice and helpful, however, I am very partial to Adi. She gets me to try on things that I normally wouldn't. She is up on all the latest fashion trends and can tell you exactly how to wear it, down to the jewelry and even your hair. If you have never stopped in here, you should. I sauntered in just to kill time really. I live inland so not on Garnet very often. Had a drink with a friend across the street and it was 6pm. Instead of fighting traffic home, I walked into the store. They were having a little party for guests and an amazing sale....on everything. It was a lovely. I spent quite a bit of time in there and Gloria was absolutely wonderful! I wasn't looking for anything in particular which was great. Since I didn't have a girlfriend with me for some honest feedback it was great getting it from Gloria. If something didn't fit well or she knew she had a different size she accommodated happily. By that same token, she let me know when she thought something looked great. I decided to buy some garments because they were beautiful and a steal....and I now have something on hand for some occasions without having to go hunt for that perfect dress with no time to spare and have to settle for something old in my closet or a dress that wasn't quite perfect. I got 2 absolutely GORGEOUS New Year's Eve type dresses...(1 a little black sequined number, the other sparkles from head to toe, cowl neck back..very dramatic, art deco stylie). I was really thinking about a 3rd...and am still thinking about that one actually. An emerald green stunner. I got a dress for Valentine's Day which I had slightly altered. It's DARLING. I got a dressier t, a sweater, a white dress I've already worn and got several compliments on, and 3 hair clips I hadn't been able to find anywhere else. All for less than $300. It was such a fun night. I very rarely write reviews but this place deserved it. I will DEFINITELY be back. I got on their mailing list and mentioned I don't look at my personal emails much. I'm not much of a dress enthusiast simply because I've never really worn them. I find it extremely difficult for me to look at a dress and know how it will look when I put it on so most cases I just pass them up. However my friend has been going to this store for years and she told me how nice the associates are and the owner and I should go in. I needed a dress for a friends birthday party that wasn't over the top but I had to dress up type of thing. As soon as I walked in Gloria welcomed me but she helped me through the entire process. She was the sweetest girl ever! I explained what I needed and she went through the entire store and had 10 dresses for me to try on. I absolutely loved two of them! A more casual summer dress and a more fun evening dress. Both were reasonably priced especially for a boutique. I needed to find shoes as well and she hooked it up with close by recommendations. Overall if you are looking to keep things in budget just be upfront and the associates work with you and really do care about making you feel comfortable and great. read more

We've been in here a few times because they have cute stuff in store and online. The quality doesn't match the price, but when he saw that they were having a sale, my fiancé decided he wanted to take me on a little shopping trip. As soon as we walked in, we were rudely told, "Men aren't allowed in the store because we have open dressing rooms, you need to leave right now. She can stay, but you have to wait outside." Am I the only one who thinks the no men policy is a little ridiculous? With the same logic that men can't come in because they might look at the women changing then they must be asking anyone who looks like a lesbian to wait outside as well. Its hard to believe that such discrimination is occurring,especially at a little boutique. Luckily PB has a ton of other boutiques that don't discriminate against anyone based upon within walking distance from the rag, and we were able to get some incredibly cute dresses, purses, and tops elsewhere. read more

Beautiful over priced dresses...I was impressed and ready to buy a few dresses for opening day, my wedding anniversary and my for my husbands bday celebration until one of the sales ladies was so rude to us about trying on hats. After my 2 friends and I put on these gorgeous hats, we had one other sales girl take our pics with them on. She was so happy to take our pics :) Then after the fact, the other sales girl tells us in a stern and very unhappy voice, "those hats are hand made, you need to put a stocking on your head first"! I couldn't believe it...I've never heard that before, also made us feel very bad...but she should have informed the other salesgirl not us especially after the fact??? It's too bad because we had money to spend and know a lot of people we would've recommended to this store. Maybe next time the owner should do a coach back to her employees on customer service...never scold paying customers for trying things on, where was the sign that says please put a stocking over your head before trying handmade hats on? Next time say it with a smile, or take it out on the other sales girl not the customers! Who does that??? Never again and I will make sure to Facebook and let all my family and friends to stay away from this store! Horrible horrible customer service ever!!! read more

I LOVE this store. The dresses here are to die for and the staff is equally amazing. Adriana and Jesse (spelling?) both helped me pick out the absolute PERFECT dress for a very special event I have coming up next week. I told them all of my parameters- such as the dress needs to be classy but sexy, sophisticated but not boring, etc. The girls pulled a variety of dresses for me that I loved, but then they found THE dress that I fell completely in love with and knew was the one. Adriana was very clear that I wasn't going to walk out of the store with a dress unless I loved it- and she nailed it. I was also fortunate enough to meet the designer, Iris, who was in the store and could tell me a little more about the dress. She has a beautiful eye for design and I cannot wait to post photos after the event. I am very particular about my shopping experiences and I definitely give The Fabulous Rag 5 stars :) read more

This is the best store!! I have visited it a few times before when I have come to San Diego on vacation. This time, I went to Garnet Street looking for a dress for a photo shoot coming up in a couple weeks. Sure, there are tons of stores on Garnet that sell clubby dresses, but The Fabulous Rag has dresses of a whole different level of quality and uniqueness. I probably tried on at least 40 dresses and every single one of them was gorgeous and looked great on me. Even the ones I thought I never in a million years would have picked up off the rack, looked phenomenal on me. Adrianna was incredibly helpful and friendly, even bringing me a glass of water and a piece of chocolate when I was getting tired after literally an hour and a half in the dressing room! From now on there's really no reason for me to go anywhere else when I come to San Diego on vacation. The pieces that I get here end up lasting several seasons, unlike the pieces that I get at other stores on Garnet which seem cute but tend to fall apart or lose their shape quickly. And prices are really quite moderate - less than department store prices, for sure. I am totally in love with this store. read more
