Service is what prevented it feom having 5 stars. It took a really long time to get a waiter to come to the table. They appeared to be understaffed. We didnt get refills on drinks. But, food was quick ans delicious. Ribs were fall off the bone tender and fried chicken was great. I would go again when in town. read more

First time customer to Bourbons, my wife and I and another couple went in for dinner, sat down immediately at the only open table. Took about 15 minutes for the waitress to arrive to the table. Took our drink orders and I asked for a gluten free menu because I have Celiac. She tells me she thinks they threw it out but will check for one. Nice way to start the dinner. She came back with a spreadsheet with all the things on the menu checked with or without gluten. There were a few items on the entree side that I could eat, so I ordered the seafood boil that wasn't checked for gluten. Food arrived from a different server with a big piece of corn bread on top. She took it back and brought one out without bread. My first experience I wasn't thrilled as I can usually go to most bbq places and get any meet on the menu without worrying about getting gluten in me. #eduacteyourserver read more

Stopped in to check out this new establishment and try out the food. Pleasantly surprised. Was able to get right in mid afternoon. Service was stellar (attentive and friendly). Nice decor with a great view of the historic brewery building across the street. Casual dress perfectly ok (was afraid it would be fancy). Apple moonshine was smooth and deelish (day drinkin, woot woot). Beer selection small but had a decent variety. Deep fried chicken probably the best I have had! So good. Wife loved the ravioli too. Will pass on the peanut hummus next time though (not as good as the chick pea variety but they give you a lot). Definitely recommend you check this place out. I will be back again. read more

Went in for dinner on a Saturday night expecting it to be busy. Couldn't be quoted a time to get a table. Attempted to get a drink at the bar, gave my order to the bar tender who told us she was busy, and after FOUR groups who came up after us and got served we left. Won't be returning. read more

This is the second time I've gone to Bourbons both times with excellent service and really great food but service tonight prompted this review. With the advent of the coronavirus insanity, I could not get any ground beef at the grocery store for my 16-year-old dog who doesn't eat much. So I happened to mention to our waitress that I was going to split my burger that I ordered for dinner with my dog. She promptly got me an extra burger patty from the kitchen and I can't tell you how much I appreciate her kindness. Excellent food and I highly recommend the Spanish coffee. Four of us went to Bourbons for brunch. Food was very good and our server was wonderful. We were watching the football game when the manager decided to change the station. We asked him to put the game back on and he told us to change our seat and watch at another TV. We decided to go the the Pound to finish watching the game. Manager ruined my birthday dinner. It's a shame to because our server was amazing & the food is good. My boyfriend had made a reservation for 8 of us for my birthday dinner, and nobody mentioned there was a time restriction on the table until they seated us. Now, I don't know about anybody else, but when I make a reservation I fully expect to have use of the space for the entire evening. Especially for a party that size. Even so, we decided to try and make the best of the situation. We were all having a great time, despite the manager continously walking around & glaring at our table & making us all feel uncomfortable. Then as we were all paying our (very large) bills, the manager chose that moment to come up to us and ask us to leave faster. Considering we had just spent about $70-$100 per person and we were already clearly leaving, I felt this was completely unnecessary and her attitude towards us the entire evening was extremely rude. IF we ever decide to go back, it won't be for a very long time. Our entire group was turned off because of the managers behavior. read more

Brighton needs some new blood and we were happy to see Bourbons move in to the spot vacated by "Main Street". They did a nice job of a simple remodel, one thing that did strike me was the lack of space between the bar and the new tables at the bar. When we got there the place was packed (rightfully so) and moving around the bar was very difficult. We were seated on the patio which by experience is very loud and last night was no different. I couldn't hear conversation at my own table so if you are seeking a dining experience with deep intellectual conversation, don't sit out there. The menu is full of great looking items, but lacks a good seafood component. There is only two seafood items as entrees and they were out of one. So I chose the short ribs. They were really good, but the portion was WAY too small. They charged $30 for the plate and I got one lousy rib. it literally left me hungry for more. Either give me more or charge me less!!!! All in all, I would go back there. I think I would wait until the public thins out a bit though. read more

First visit. Nothing special. There were 3 of us. The food is not as exciting as it looks on the menu. Wait staff is untrained. Nice, but untrained. At this $$$ expect them to be trained. No side plates for corn bread, cold coffee.. ya HAD to have known it was cold when it was poured, no hand towel for eating the Entree/ Southern Boil with A crab leg, 3 shrimp, clams and mussels and corn on the cob. No sea food pick, bent forks, no side plate or bucket for the shells, taste was nothing special. Presentation would have been better if the table had first been cleared of appetizer dishes. They argue about WHO has to clear the dish from the table. THEN there is the topic of the cornbread. This IS a restaurant that boasts it is "Southern". Of everything on that menu, the Cornbread MUST knock it out of the park.. again disappointed. Yeeeeah, Correct, it was served with cold/ iced butter, for both orders. The first order was fresh. The second order however, was made yesterday.. it was cold, stale ( def. tasted like a day old) and like the Entree, nothing special. Come on!!! Have some pride you are a Southern Food restaurant! NEVER SERVE STALE CORNBREAD Eh, it was "all right", nothing to rave about. The seafood plate was around $24. At that price, there is a LOT of competition with more flavor and better trained wait staff. read more

I was happy to get to try out Bourbons again recently. The Smokehouse Pizza with the gluten free crust is still my favorite. The management and chef were extremely helpful with making sure that my food was gluten-free safe. I shared that I have Celiacs and need to be careful with cross-contamination and manager was very nice and insisted on double checking to make sure that it was marked as a severe allergy. The chef went above and beyond to ensure that I was all set! I normally feel uncomfortable bugging restaurants with allergies so I really appreciate how kind and helpful the manager and chef were during my visit. I would highly recommend Bourbons! read more

I wanted to like this place and was eager to try it so I made a reservation for mother's day. Despite arriving a few minutes early, we waited at least 15 minutes to be seated. When we finally were seated, we were placed in the front room, not the main dining room. We were seated next to a very noisy table of yell talkers who were clearly annoying every table in the room. We asked the waitress twice for water. She never brang it. I finally got up and asked the hostess for water. The waitress never came back to serve any of our food. She was terrible. Really the worst server I've had in years. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks. The food was decent. We ordered corn chowder (the waitress forgot that so I had to order twice). We ordered burnt pieces, pickles, pizza, short rib, and ribs. Everything was good expect there was barely any meat on the short rib. It was at most 2 oz of edible meat. Ultimately this place missed the mark on several points. I recommend you skip this place. read more

Approximately a month ago my husband and I went for dinner to a restaurant we had never tried Bourbons. Everything seemed to be going well until about an hour after dinner on our way home my husband got seriously ill. We had to pull over on our way home on the side of the road. During dinner he had one beer . He proceeded to continue to get sick after we got home. I later called the restaurant to inform them they may want to check the coleslaw, and maybe cook the scallops all the way. We both noticed the scallops were undercooked . I had scallops and I did not get sick. So it came down to the coleslaw. I had a lengthy conversation with the Manager and expressed my concern and hoped that another Patron would not get ill like my husband. The Manager stated he would send a gift card, this never happened. To be quite honest we would have given the gift card to someone else, it's the principal. Blackened grouper was delicious, it was flakey and just the right amount of heat! Started with the pork belly tips and the fried green tomatoes, the later of the two being my favorite. Either make it southern cooking focused (more of a comfort food menu) or keep it like it is but don't advertise it as southern cooking. It's more a fusion southern cooking. Trite but 0 stars are a needed option. I think the 5 stars are paid for reviews. I had looked forward to trying this place out although I wish Brighton would get more food diversity--other than the amazing La Marsa. I was hopeful the southern vibe here would be interesting. I know they just opened, it was a busy Saturday night, we were a big party, but there was no excuse for the poor service, small portions and LOUD restaurant. I mean shouting to the person next to you LOUD. Overcrowded tables-jammed in l and playing music to add to the cacophony. We were the 7th and 8th people who arrived in our party. The waiter brought out 1 too few waters didn't fix that for 45 minutes. Every time he would take orders from 4 people and disappear for 15 to 20 minutes. He got our drinks and never got back to us. Other members arrived and were served their dinners when our order had not even been taken. Their meals looked small, at $20 a plate as well. No one was raving about their food either. Irritatingly the manager was giddily walking around happy with his full restaurant and clueless to what was going on with the service. Our table grew to 16 and he did not add any help or help out the server. After and hour and a half we still had not had our dinner order taken, I grabbed the servers arm and asked for the check for our 2 drinks-an old Fashioned and whisky sour that tasted like margarita mix--too sweet. It was $24 for 2 drinks--I have no idea if that was accurate or not- there are no prices on the drink menu. He could have charged us anything he wanted. I will not be going back. read more

Will be giving Bourbons another chance, this review is based on only one experience. I wasn't terribly impressed and left thinking it was overpriced for what I received. Tried the chicken and my partner had the ribs. The ribs were quite heavily smoked, too much so for our taste, and rather dry. The ribs were served with fries straight from the freezer into the deep fryer. I would have expected fresh hand cut fries rather than this bland, underwhelming short cut. The chicken is brined in pickle juice, which is not stated on the menu. I hate pickles and did not enjoy the dish. My partner, however, enjoyed it very much! The sweet potato side dish was delicious. The okra was exactly what you'd expect from okra, which is something I would never have ordered on my own. Would have liked to had something instead of okra. Very pleased to see they actually do have a fabulous selection of bourbon! The artwork in the restaurant is exceptional and really adds to the ambiance that I would describe as an edgy speakeasy. The service was fine. Having visited shortly after their opening, I feel I need to dine there again to see if the food improves to justify the cost. I'm hoping they make it, it's a beautiful renovation in a prime location. read more
