I cannot express in this little yelp review how incredible the engagement ring Dan created with my (very recent!) fiance!!! SO obsessed. I find myself constantly glancing down at my left finger to admire my nice sparkely rock in the most beautiful and amazing setting :) Thank you Dan (along w my amazing fiance of course) for creating for me such a special piece of jewelry that I will treasure forever. Not only is my ring aaaaaammmmazing- but we also had a great experience working with Dan and very much appreciated his knowledge of diamonds, attentiveness to what we were looking for and candid openness in talking fair prices with us. From the moment we walked into Bouvier Jewelers, we knew we had found a great gem in the diamond district- no pun intended. So the longer version of the story is my now-fiance, then boyfriend, and I went looking at rings in June 2010. We did our research and knew to go to the diamond buildings in downtown crossing. As a yelp lover, I checked out which jewelers had good reviews, jotted a few names down, and headed to go shop for rocks. We started in a few bigger stores- Joseph Gann being one, and while these were nice stores, I wasn't finding anything I liked and certainly nothing blew me away. I was getting frustrated because I couldnt understand why I wasn't liking any of these big sparkely diamonds on my finger. I also knew I wanted something incredible since this ring symbolizes something so important and special and is something you have for the rest of your life! We had exhausted every other option on our list- and our last stop was at Bouvier. Right when I walked in I felt like Dan cared about us and wanted us to have a great experience in his shop. He took us in his office and immediately started to get a feel of what I was looking for. Within five minutes- NO JOKE!- he had pinpointed exactly what I wanted and had a sample one on my finger. I hadn't even been able to pinpoint what I wanted, but Dan was able to do it within minutes. He understood my style and what I was looking for. I was so excited- I didn't even want to take the sample off! I left that afternoon confident that was the ring that was meant for me.. so I left the rest up to my man! From what Will told me, Dan was great to work on the actual creation of the ring. We were getting a 3 carat diamond so it took Dan a few weeks, but he ended up giving Will a few great options of stones to pick from- all great quality and all at fair prices for what we were getting. Will also said that he liked working with Dan because he felt like he was working w an honest business person, rather than some of the skeevy sales people that we met at Bakmarian (spelling?!). So all in all- DAN IS THE MAN! I have the most gorgeous 3 carat round brilliant diamond ring set in a halo setting and I could not be more happy. Working with Dan left my fiance super happy and very satisfied with the business transaction, and it left me feeling like a princess with the most beautiful ring in the world. My boyfriend and I had been looking around at rings and diamonds for awhile, and wanted to go to a few shops in the jewelry district to compare diamonds/prices. We found Bouvier Jewelers through Yelp and after stopping in, we were so happy that we barely felt the need to go to the other shops we had looked up. We worked directly with Dan Bouvier and he took so much time to sit with us and explain our options. He was also the only jeweler who was honest with us and tried to get us the best quality for our money. After my grandmother passed away I had her wedding ring that I wanted to use part of for my own engagement ring. Her wedding ring had two rows of small diamonds, and I wanted to use that for the diamonds on the band. He was the only jeweler that told us some of the diamonds were damaged and not usable, while the other jewelers we went to were more than happy to throw the damaged diamonds in the setting. He also was the only jeweler to show us a two carat diamond that had top quality and cut, but was lower in color. Because it was such a nice diamond, you couldn't even tell and I couldn't be happier with it. Every other jeweler insisted we get D, E or F color diamonds and wouldn't even show us lower even though it would help us get a bigger diamond for the same price. He ended up proposing last night and I saw the finished ring for the first time. It's more beautiful than I ever could have imagined, Dan really did a fantastic job! The entire ring is perfect, and there is not one thing I would change. He listened to everything I wanted and created the perfect ring. He also offered to take the discarded metal from my grandmothers wedding ring and turn it into a heart pendant for a necklace! I have nothing but good things to say about Dan and Bouvier Jewelers, and will definitely be sending all of our friends his way! My fiancee and I are very happy with the experience we had at Bouvier Jewelers, and our experience motivated me to write my first Yelp review. We began looking at engagement rings together several months ago. During this time, we looked at many jewelry shops in Boston and happened to stumble into Bouvier's without ever having heard of it before. My fiancee and I were interested in an oval diamond and really liked a Tacori halo setting that we had seen online. Dan and Amanda talked with us in great detail, and we spent a good 45 minutes looking at different rings and stones. Dan also explained how they could incorporate elements of the Tacori design while allowing us to customize certain elements that were important to us. In our case, we wanted a solid platinum band (no pave) and we wanted the engagement ring to fit flush with a wedding band without the need of a lazy curve. Dan carefully jotted down our requirements and recorded my personal information. A few days later, he sent me an email letting me know that he had received a 1.25 carat, vs1, d-colored diamond that matched our needs perfectly. The diamond was (and still is) pure fire, and the price was much more competitive than anything I could find at other jewelers or online. I purchased the diamond and custom setting from Dan and had a very happy fiancee a few days later. She receives compliments all the time, and she is always happy when she looks at her hand. We recently received the matching band, and it fits together with the engagement ring beautifully. We had originally been looking for a platinum ring for me as well, and Dan convinced us to go with the much less expensive and more durable tungsten option. Bouvier Jewelers will not disappoint. I began looking for my fiancé's ring in September and the first place I went to get ideas was Long's. I was shocked at the outrageous prices and lack of customer service. Soon after, I learned about Bouvier from a friend of mine who had purchased his wife's ring there. I spent a full day checking out numerous places in the Boston Diamond Building, as I'm sure many guys do for a purchase this important. As soon as I met with Dan at Bouvier, I knew I'd be working with him. He took the time to walk through all of the diamond characteristics (as most jewelers will), but Dan was the only person that day I felt like I could trust. Even when we began talking about budget and diamond sizes, Dan let me know I could do much better than what I initially planned based on visiting other shops. He takes tremendous pride in his work and customized everything to perfection. I was working off of limited information (to keep it a surprise) and he was always patient with me and my fiancé's sisters as we designed the setting (he uses CAD renderings so you can see what it will look like - very helpful). Throughout the purchase process Dan was on top of things, kept me updated as progress was made and when it was time to pick it up he had everything ready to go. This is how Dan approaches his work; it's not just a quick sale but wants to make sure you are truly happy with the end product. And she was, thanks so much Dan! As I've told others that I've recommend to Bouvier since, do yourself a favor and shop around, because once you do you'll develop a real appreciation for what Dan and Bouvier have to offer compared to the other stores. My family has been going to Dan for years because of the high quality personal service he provides and because his prices cannot be beat. When it came time for me to start thinking about an engagement ring, my girlfriend and I went to Dan 6 or 7 months before I planned on proposing to try on rings. Dan and Amanda were extremely nice and spent over an hour with us, letting my girlfriend try on a wide range of settings and different types of diamonds. Never once was there any pressure or push to go in one direction or another with a ring. A few weeks after we tried on rings, I let Dan know through email and phone what my intentions/timing/budget was. Writing this review a little late, but I just referred a friend here and pulled up the yelp page to show him the deets. Figured I might as well throw my review up for others as well. I worked with Dan back in January to design a ring for my (now) fiancee. I walked in with a little bit of knowledge on the 4 Cs, and an idea of the setting I wanted (trellis). Dan convinced me that the trellis setting might not be the best bet, because even though it's aesthetically pleasing, when lined up with the wedding band, there's a little gap that appears (because the engagement setting is wider up top than at the bottom). I thought this was very forthcoming, because I would've been sold on a setting right then an there. He clearly wanted to make sure that I got what would be best for the long run. I didn't end up buy anything then, because I felt like I still needed to think on it. A couple days later, Dan gave me a call because he had just gotten a diamond delivered to the shop that fit the criteria we had settled on to a T (and at a very good price). The stone was beautiful and he had it set in a mold he had put together previously. I was a little hesitant, as the setting wasn't very elaborate, but he assured me that based on what I told him, it would fit the bill, and that if I needed to return/exchange it, I could do so without a problem. Needless to say, I didn't need to return it. My fiancee loved it, and still gets tons of compliments on it. I am so in love with my gorgeous engagement ring made by Daniel in November 2015. My fiancé and I began looking for rings in September, a few weeks before moving across the country to California. We had been to 4 or 5 shops prior to Bouvier Jewelers and were immediately stricken by the attention paid to us by Daniel and his assistant, as well as the brilliance of the diamonds in the display case. We had just come from Tiffany's, where we found the mark-ups on limited, stock styles to be ghastly and the staff to lack knowledge and expertise. At Bouvier Jewelers, the range of designs were unique and stunning and Daniel was clearly knowledgeable about his craft. He was also incredibly patient as I tried on all different shapes and sizes. I fell in love with one particular ring and left the visit wondering if my fiancé might be sneaky enough to order a ring from across the country. I have since learned that Daniel worked with my fiancé over e-mail and phone to make sure the setting and diamond were just right. Daniel had also taken detailed notes about my preferences from our visit so that he knew exactly what to recommend when it came time to make the ring. In addition, he worked hard to accommodate our financial situation and engagement timeline and he delivered seamlessly on all of his promises. Bouvier is the best! I'm from Bar Harbor, Maine, and I recently proposed to my (former) girlfriend/current fiance with a ring from Bouvier Jewelers and she loved it. Dan was great. I was coming from 5 hours away, so I called Bouvier to make sure they could help me out. Dan talked to me and had me e-mail him some ideas of what I wanted, so he could get on the same wavelength. When I made my trip to Boston I looked at 3 jewelers, including Bouvier. The others were nice enough, but they were more interested in selling me something I didn't quite want, or something that was over my budget. When I met with Dan, he took me in, he remembered the conversations we had, and he was very conscious of working with me to get exactly what I wanted with the money I had. He had, by far, the best deal on the stone, and he even helped me upgrade from white gold to platinum--something I had completely written off as an impossibility. I wrote a check for the ring and Dan wanted to make sure that I liked it before he cashed the check, so he held the check for three weeks and shipped the ring to my house in Maine so I didn't have to make another trip down. None of my fiance's friends/family can believe how beautiful the ring is. I'm not saying the ring made her say yes, because she would have said yes if I had given her a ring made out of wood, but the ring that Dan helped me create has made her feel like she's the most special woman in the world--something I couldn't have achieved without Dan's knowledge and help. read more

Great experience working with Dan at Bouvier Jewelers where I bought my fiance's engagement ring. Dan was my first stop on my shopping around/due diligence process, which was great because I learned a ton and felt pretty educated going forward in my search. He explained the pros and cons of all his offerings that fit my price range, and I came away with a much better understanding of the specs (color/clarity/polish/cut etc) of diamonds. Even more importantly, I learned about pricing diamonds using the market standard benchmark. I appreciated that Dan went through the calculations with me for his price offerings. Very honest and transparent! One other place I went to seemed perturbed that I even bring up Rap pricing...like how dare I come in there as an educated consumer and not just buy their inflated prices haha. I did a lot of work on valuing the few diamond offerings that I narrowed it down to, and Dan's prices seemed to be far and away the best, even considering one of the diamonds I was looking at was in NH and was sales-tax free! Also, it can be tough to pull the trigger sometimes on such a high price item, but I was able to take my time, and never felt any sales pressure here throughout any of the process. Lastly, my fiance's ring needed to be slightly sized down as my idea on her size wasn't exact. My engagement ring search had taken me all over Boston - from small designers' shops to the larger Boston bulwarks - and it was Bouvier that made the greatest impression. Dan runs his business more like a boutique than a traditional jeweler - he specializes in customizing a piece of jewelry EXACTLY how you would like, and (in my opinion, this is this single best thing about working with Dan) he is genuinely enthusiastic about creating a ring with you. From the beginning, Dan was detailed with the reviews of his diamonds and honest with his guidance when I selected one (what I liked a lot: he didn't waste time giving a master class on the grading of diamonds - anyone with access to yelp should be able to do a little 4 C's homework on their own ahead of time - but instead, he focused on helping me select a diamond with the greatest value). He was upfront with his prices and never pushed me beyond my budget (regarding prices - his are extremely fair, and even competitive with online retailers like Blue Nile). When I couldn't find the right band/setting in his collection, he offered to design a customized ring so that I could have the exact style I was looking for. And through the entire process, Dan was patient. Never pushed or rushed, and was always supportive and accommodating. It made a big decision, and a potentially stressful process, really easy. I've had my engagement ring from Bouvier Jewelers for almost three weeks now and I still can't stop staring at it! When my fiancee and I started looking at rings we searched on Yelp for reviews of shops in Boston's diamond district and Bouvier Jewelers seemed to have the best reviews. Bouvier was at the top of our list and Dan did not disappoint! All of the rings he showed us were beautiful and it was clear that the craftsmanship of his rings was of a much higher quality than some of the other places we visited. Dan didn't have as large an inventory of loose diamonds as some of the other stores did, but we were very happy with the quality and value of the stones that he did have. (He also mentioned that he could look for our perfect stone if he didn't happen to have it.) As someone who didn't know exactly what type of ring I was looking for, I appreciated Dan's opinions about what settings might look best with certain stones within our budget. I was just engaged last weekend with the most beautiful ring I have ever laid eyes on, all in thanks to Dan at Bouvier Jewelers. My now Fiance and I had talked about marriage long long ago, but I never wanted to beg, so I was patient. I came to Bouvier Jewelers looking for an engagement ring for approximately $10,000. Dan was as helpful and competent at his job as anyone could be. I wouldn't classify Dan as a jewelry seller or dealer, but instead as a consultant or partner. You really feel like he is invested in the whole mind-reeling process of buying an engagement ring. I had a good idea of what I wanted, but it was Dan who really helped iron out the details of the ring. He let me know what parts of my idea would cause problems with the ring down the road and then worked with me to craft the best solution. He asked me questions about (and seemed genuinely interested in) what my fiance would want. I felt like he was trying to establish a long-term relationship as opposed to making a one time sale. When it came to the diamond, we balanced my priorites (Size vs. other C's) against my budget and ended up with a stone (after Dan took our specs and found one) that is honestly breathtaking. I came to Dan, looking for a diamond to put in an engagement ring, based off of the many positive things that others had said about Bouvier on Yelp. I'd purchased the ring separately, from a designer in New York, and basically just needed somebody to sell me a diamond that the guys in New York could then put into a custom setting. I was not disappointed. Dan was so helpful that he essentially did the shopping for me, offering me a diamond that cost just slightly more than what I ideally would've spent, but that was, he assured me, a great stone I would be getting a very good deal on. He was accommodating, reassuring, and was very straight with me: he was there to be helpful, and meant what he said. And he was right. I subsequently had his stone appraised at an independent third-party gemologist, who told me that he thought I'd done extremely well on my purchase. My new fiancee certainly agrees. Diamond shopping can inspire hand-wringing in even the most confident of fellows; at Bouvier, I basically said "Hey Dan, I need an excellent diamond at a good price," and Dan did the rest in an extremely timely fashion. There's really nothing else he could've done to make the experience any better. My fiance proposed in July but prior to the holiday season, I decided I wanted a different setting. We went to 3 different jewelers before finding Daniel through Yelp. Daniel was so helpful and knowledgeable when describing different settings and how they would look with different wedding bands. I found Daniel as I was on the 2nd floor of 333 Washington to visit another jeweler to scope out stones for engagement rings to send my then boyfriend/now fiancé back to. I wasn't impressed with the other guy so I popped into Bouvier Jewelers before I got in the elevator. Daniel happened to have a stone of the exact specs that we wanted, but I'm confident that he could have found us one without any problem if he hadn't had one right there in-house. What impressed us most about Daniel (now affectionately nicknamed "Diamond Dan") is his straight forward nature and communication style. He was up front with his pricing (though I'm not sure exactly where they landed in the end) and the stone that he was showing us. Unlike most jewelers, Daniel isn't just going to sell you something just to sell you something. He truly wants to work with your budget to find something that works for you, not just get you to spend a lot of money. Daniel did an amazing job of working with the baguette side stones that my mom gave us, which were my great-grandmother's, and incorporating those into the design. The ring is simply gorgeous. I recently worked with Dan to pick out an engagement ring for my fiance. Dan was great to work with and made me feel 100% comfortable with the process. He understood where my budget was and was able to maximize my return. The ring was beautiful and my fiance is obsessed with it! The best part about the process was that Dan waited to cash my check until he knew that my fiance was 100% thrilled with the ring. He said that if there was anything wrong or even if she wanted to look at other options that she could come in after the fact and we could work something out. It didnt come to this but I thought it was a great way to handle the situation. In addition, the ring size was too large for her finger (SHE TOLD ME SHE WAS A 6!) so they had to remake the whole ring! Dan put a ring guard on the original ring so that she wouldnt have to be without it and had the new ring made. Dan didnt charge me for any difference in price that the new ring cost (if the price of gold had gone up) which i thought was very generous of him. All in all this was a great experience and I highly recommend going to see Dan at Bouvier Jewelers.
