He does not cut corners by supplying cheap melee diamonds (mine were F color VS clarity) and his final product just screams perfection. If something is not right, he takes the time to make it right. Service is excellent. He stands behind his product and he is down to earth. He does all he can to make his customers happy and he does all he can to explain the steps that are being taken for the completion of his products. There is no fancy marketing at this place...it's just the good old happy customers lead to more business model. I guess you can say this place is the equivalent of a GIA Triple Ex diamond. I was in the same boat that you are in now. I had a loose budget and a vague vision of what i wanted my soon-to-be fiance's ring to look like. I embarked on the search to find the perfect ring for my perfect girl. I knew only a few things: 1. I didn't want to buy a mass produced, cookie cutter ring. 2. I didn't want to overpay and 3. I wanted to work with someone who would be able to hold my feeble hand throughout the process. I was referred by friends to a few jewelers in NYC and in Chicago and had brief intake sessions with them before feeling like they did not have my best interests in mind or worse that they did not have the skill/craftsmanship to realize my vision. I jumped onto yelp and saw a number of options right here in Boston. Roupen's reviews were overwhelmingly positive but I was a bit skeptical because there weren't many of them. I called him to set up a time to meet since he is by appointment only and went down to his office. Roupen sold me almost instantly. He made me comfortable and confident that i was in good hands as we talked about what I had in mind. He allowed me to use my vision while also steering me away from a few flaws in my plan (in the most courteous way imaginable). Once we had the vision sketched out, Roupen set out a series of timelines for the creation of the ring. First he would use CAD software to make a rendering of the ring by x-date. Delivered. Then if I liked what I saw, he would create a wax molding of the ring so I could touch it and see dimensions in real time by x-date. Delivered. Finally he would cast the ring in Platinum by x-date. Roupen met or exceeding my expectation through each milestone and the result was a ring that came out even better than I originally envisioned. Fiancee LOVES it. I am a hero. 2 Side notes: 1) I originally swore to myself that I would buy the stone for the ring online to save money. Roupen was fine with that idea but asked me about the specs and price. He was able to get me a nicer stone that I could actually see before buying at a lower price point than blue_ile. 2) I proposed in Belize on the last day of a week long trip. Fiancee was so excited about the ring which was a tad oversized (I had to do some guess work on ring size since it was surprise). We landed back Stateside and went straight to Roupen without warning. I came to Roupen this past Thursday evening (November 20th) with a seriously bent engagement ring. Previously I was working with a local jewelry store in the South End, but they kept changing their price estimates, weren't offering me the ability to recreate exactly what I wanted, and were taking forever to get on the ball... I was ringless for a month because they took so long to do everything. I decided to take my ring elsewhere, and SO glad I did and that it ended up with Roupen. We immediately sat down on Thursday night to come up with a plan of action, by Friday I was approving a design, by Tuesday the new mounting was ready, by Wednesday (today, November 26) it was set and I picked it up. My significant other had an engagement ring that was a family heirloom which was quite old and needed some touch-ups and a new band.
