Slightly disappointed. Cannolo is $5 for a soggy shell because they have them premade already. I should've known but was desperate. I instead recommend A. Parziale bakery where they don't have the cannolo premade. Instead they fill them when you order. That ensures a crisp outside. Inside was pretty big. They have a ton of different pastries. I will come back to try other things. read more

We came here to check it out. Most of Little Italy places do not like credit card and will charge the extra 4% fee or some will not take business so make sure you take cash. It is open 24/7 and small, but it is small that the line goes outside. We ordered the 1. Cake 2. Boston Creme Donut 3. A crispy donut with a cherry my favorite. I did not care too much for the Boston Creme donut, but the other ones I did. The bill was around $21 dollars so be prepared to pay quite a bit of money. read more

It's an experience to say the least! Be ready to order when it's your turn or they'll skip right over you. Even if you just take a little too long like my husband did. The line was long but very efficient and moved quickly. The line was almost out the door when we entered and we were in and out within 10 or so minutes. Love it! Love it! Love it! My family and I , we are late night people. It's hard to find late night food all over the country. Especially since after Covid. It so fun when you find a late spot and open 24 hours is even better. If it is delicious that's a fantastic bonus! Bova's IS DELICIOUS. With a fabulous selection. Mostly bakery (all great) and pizza, arancini, etc. Love their cannoli, biscotti, lobster pastry and cookies. Atmosphere is fun because there are other excited people around and the staff and quick and efficient when they are busy. You'll always see them pulling out something fresh from the back, too. Get something to walk around with and more to take home. Parking def (unless you do a pay lot) not easy so just walk. read more

Really good. We had planned to go to Modern or Mike's after dinner but the lines were crazy long. Earlier in the day, our doorman at The Dagny Hotel told us about Bova's. We walked a couple of blocks to get there and their line was much shorter. From the time we joined the line, to walking out with our purchase was about 15 minutes at around 8pm on a Saturday night. We grabbed a Cannoli and a package of Lemon cake bites of some sort. Both were great. For such a small shop, Bova's had a lot of variety or both baked sweet goods and savory food items. If you've been to Boston before, next time, give Bova's a try. It's only about a 5 minutes walk from Hanover St. read more

One of the best bakeries in the Northeast. They're open 24/7 which is perfect after an event at TD Garden. I came here and there was a long line so be prepared to wait, but it's worth it. They have many different types of pastries and the staff here are so friendly. I loved their eclairs and cannolis. The tiramisu and turnovers were good as well. Also, almost forgot to mention that their whoopie pies were fantastic, definitely have to try this and the cannolis. read more

Been coming here for years, probably 20+ years as I recall when I used to come to Boston for work training, I would get off the plane and go right to the north end for a great Italian meal, and some cookies/pastries. Recent trip we ended up in the north end on day 1, and the last day....the last day was a bit unplanned but allowed us to bring some cookies back home (and actually brought more for a gift). We were in the store xmas eve and it was packed! I just think they are the best. Yeah Mike's for giant Cannoli's, but Bova's are pretty good (although smaller and less variety) but their cookies are top notch. Fan for life. read more

9.0/10, An absolutely wonderful experience, the chocolate chip cannoli's are an absolute must if you are down in North End and walking through that door transports you to another planet. A little piquant shop with kind people and eager faces wanting to please you with some of the best confections I've experienced in a long time. Even with the long lines, this place is worth a stop to meet your sweet-craving needs! We passed by in the evening, and the line was wrapped around the corner, but we returned earlier the next morning, and there were only a few people in line. I got the lobster tail pastry, and it was 10/10 -- I couldn't even wait to sit and eat it and had a bite in the store (not allowed, by the way!) I'd recommend the stop if you have the time. I was on a tour for cannolis and this was one of the stops (Mike's and Modern Pastry were the other stops). Ordering was relatively quick and the cannoli tasted good. Chances are that the cannoli will either make it home or be consumed outside the bakery. Not as many cannoli options as Mike's, but more than Modern Pastry. Overall this is worth a stop if you're in the Boston area. The place is smaller and stays busy. The price is high, especially compared to other bakeries. However, it's similar to other bakeries in the area. A canolli is $8 and a big one $12. A slice of cheesecake or lemon pie is $6. The canolli is the one that I can highly recommend. It's extremely tasty. The cheesecake and lemon pie were honestly nothing special. It just seemed like something to add to the extensively huge menu. Don't be deterred by the line. It moves surprisingly fast. We were half way around the corner, but from standing in line to finishing our first cannoli, it was a total of 30 minutes. Came here on a recommendation of a friend and it did not disappoint. This might actually be my new favorite cannoli that i will dream about until the next time I'm back. It's a light crunchy shell with a full flavor cannoli. We had the creme brulee and original and both were amazing. I got my cannoli kick without the usual cannoli heavy feeling. Next time I will have to try the florentine cannoli but you can't say you like cannolis if you don't come here! read more

Great service, line moves fast. This bakery reminds me of an old-fashioned deli from the 1950s. It was very cute clean and organized. I ordered the crème brûlée cannoli and it was very good to me. It tasted more of like a custard cream in the center of the cannoli and although the flavor was very good, it didn't remind me of eating a crème brûlée, but it was very, very good! we also ordered a few cookies and those were very flavorful and tasty as well. read more

They even have savory options like ham & cheese croissants, calzones, pizza slices and arancini (rice balls). The amount of treats they have is outstanding! You want to leave with a bit of everything! Staff is nice and they answered all of my questions. I got the ham and cheese croissant, steak and cheese arancini and the chocolate chip rugelach. Listen, the ham and cheese croissant didn't even make it up the street! I literally turned back around and ordered more treats. The croissant is buttery and flaky. The pastries are some of the best you'll find in Boston. The prices are the real shock, though. For what you pay at trendier bakeries for a single pastry, you can walk out of Bova's with a whole box. Usually there's a line but it does move quickly. My favorite bakery for the last 10 years. Pistachio macarons and biscotti are unmatched. They have the best Boston Cream donut in Boston imo. Even if there is a line out the door service is still quick and friendly. It's a small venue so be ready with your order! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We got the famous pistachio cannoli and I'm puzzled. The cream was really not sweet. It tasted like whipped milk - as if the baker forgot to put in sugar as it was made? We had it about an hr later and the shell got surprisingly really soft Pignolis - 10/10. Must get Oreo cheesecake - just ok Tiramisu - just ok Update: We got 6 cannolis. 2 of them weren't sweet but the other 4 were sweet and delicious. Odd experience overall! read more

This 24/7 family bakery is known for their cinnamon bread and also for the dryest tiramisu I've ever had in my life! It can get crowded and the staff take time to explain the pastries and make recs based on your cravings. There is also a hot food menu worth trying! I participated in a freedom trail tour and my tour guide recommended comparing this pastry shop to Mike's. This was the real winner for me! I tried their pistachio cannoli and was very impressed by the flavor. Not only did it include essence of pistachio, but it also had the crushed up fresh pistachio in it. while riding bikes around boston on a beautiful city night, me and 3 friends of mine wanted a snack. it was almost 3am and everything was closed. one of us mentioned the 24 hour pastry shop in the north end. sounds good right?....wrong! although the pastries were good, i will never forget the terrible experience that occurred that night.... we parked our bikes in front of the store and went in to check out their pastries. when we entered, there was a police officer standing inside talking to someone behind the counter; i assumed this person worked there. this person was adamantly telling the officer about how "we were at war" and "all these immigrants are taking our money"(among other colorful comments). an inappropriate conversation to have in front of customers, but whatever its a free country.... ...or at least i thought it was... me and my friend completed our transactions (i bought a chocolate mousse cake and he got a canoli). the two of us went outside with our food, as there was nowhere to eat inside. we were waiting for our other friend who was inside buying cookies. when we got outside the police officer was waiting for us. "move it along, there's no loitering here!" he said. "we're not loitering, we just bought some food in there." we said. "get out of here, you can eat it outside of the north end." he said. (i assumed there was a curfew in place, there wasn't..) "ok we're just waiting for our friend," we responded, as we went to take a bite out of our tasty-looking treats. "what did i tell you! do you really want to see what happens if you eat that food!" the officer bellowed at us. 'officer friendly' was being totally ridiculous, but there's no point in arguing with the police; so me and my friend started packing our things up in order to leave. at this point my other friend had finished his transaction and came out of the store. he hadn't heard any of what the officer had told us. not hearing any of the previous conversation, he went to take a bite out of his cookie. the police officer cornered my friend against our bikes and puffed his chest up against my friend's chest in a threatening manner. "what are you f***ing deaf, there's no eating out here!" the officer yelled (knowing full well that my friend hadn't heard anything he had previously said). "go ahead and eat that and we'll see what happens, just try me." we told the officer to pass on the message to the pastry shop that we wouldn't be coming back due to this event. as we were riding down the street i looked back and the officer was going back into the shop most likely to yuck it up with the pastry shop people. obviously the shop only cared about the transaction, knowing full well that the police officer was going to roust us away from the store and out of the north end as soon as they got our money. the north end has a lot of wealthy professionals living there. my friends and i were on bikes and obviously didn't appear to be wealthy north end residents. i'm wondering if we would've been treated differently had our appearance been different. either way, this business took our money and promptly had the police profile and threatened us back to the other side of the tracks. never again. read more

People who work there are racist and disrespectful. I used to go there very often but I will never step there again. They have a fridge in the middle of the store that apparently people cant touch and cant take stuff from there yourself. I didn't see their tiny sign and when I went to pay there this guy who works there started screaming out of his mind and offending me because i got a cream caramel from the " unreachable refrigerator". I stayed there while he screamed at me and saying terrible stuff about me in front of everyone at the store. Move that refrigerator from there if its gonna create this kind of problem with ur clients. I strongly suggest everyone not to support this business operated by this terrible people. read more

Immediately after eating here I was hooked on these and trying them at "Mike's" and Modern Day Pastry etc., I've bought each and every of my last desserts from Bova's for 2 reasons: (1) They taste finest at Bova's. The cream inside the middle (a mix of whipped cream, pastry cream and Bavarian cream) isn't overly sweet, so the last bite is as great as the first bite. (2) Bova's offers a "small" version and also the large version that's too big (just about as big as your head) and is the only size provided at the other locations. read more

I love this place. I left Boston 14 years ago and waited (somewhat) patiently to visit the North End, grab a loaf of Italian bread and prosciutto, and dive into it in a park as I had done as a kid. I finally managed to visit Boston over Fourth of July and did just that. Thank you Bova's for letting me relive a bit of my childhood. Also, the people working there are amazing. Yes please. The lobster tail was delicious and the people who work there were SO FRIENDLY, which I love. I was looking for an alternative to the popular Mike's Pastry, and liked the reviews of Bova I found on Yelp. Seriously one of my favorite hidden gems in the North End. Late at night everyone is outside of Mike's and the line is out the door (rightfully so they are amazing as well), but just down the street is Bova's which has quick services and the same amazing delicious pastries that you're looking for! Bova's easily blows Mike's Pastry and Modern Pastry out of the water! No competition. Bova's is open 24/7! And never has any lines or wait like modern or mikes. This is a really good place since it open 7/24. I ordered a pretty pricey ham and cheese calzone and buffalo chicken rice ball (take out). For the part I don't like is that I have to put them in microwave to heat them up before I eat them. They are just not really fresh in that case. May be I should put it in an oven? I would argue that Bova's is the best pastry place in Boston! Not only are the cannolis delicious, but they have MANY other options to choose from. You really can't go wrong with anything in there! Pastries and breakfast sandwiches are standouts and I particularly liked the avocado toast - a large portion avocado on very good bread with a variety of accompaniments. Pricing was reasonable and it's helpful to be able to order at the kiosk but as first timers it made it slightly confusing. We sat upstairs and it helped make things more relaxing as it was less crowded and plenty of room. I think this location is serving the hospital so I suspect it's always very busy.

For breakfast sandwiches in the city I'm used to Mike & Patty's, though I've been going to Archie's in downtown a lot more lately because I find it just as satisfying while also being much less expensive. I noticed Sunny Girl was somewhere in between in terms of cost. I also noticed how quickly they rose to foodie stardom, so I naturally went in with high expectations and the consideration that perhaps I'd have another quick service breakfast spot option under my belt. I made my way into Sunny Girl on a Wednesday morning before work at about 8:30. The place is very small, but there was a steady flow of people coming in, ordering, waiting a few minutes for their food and going on their merry way. They make it work. There are only a few stools inside for eating in, but they've got a few tables right out front for the nice weather. I ordered the breakfast grilled cheese with avocado added on, as well as an iced coffee. The coffee wasn't really anything to write home about for me, but I was really there for the sandwich. I grabbed my order and sat at one of the tables outside. Upon unwrapping the sandwich, it looked delectable at first glance. It had a decent cheese pull when I picked up the first half. For the first bite or two it seemed like everything inside worked together in harmony; that is until I realized that the bacon wasn't crispy. Not like it was just a little chewy on the ends, but legitimately undercooked on at least one side. To me, not many things are more dissatisfying than biting into gelatinous, underdone bacon. Not sure if this makes me nitpicky, but it kind of ruined the sandwich for me since I ultimately ended up picking about half of the bacon out. If the bacon was crispy or otherwise cooked more evenly, this surely would've been a knockout sandwich and the experience as a whole would've been worth at least four stars for me. Sunny Girl really seems to have a lot going for them; a good location, fresh ingredients, a loyal and ever growing customer base, an overall good concept. I genuinely want to like the place and my hope is that I just happened to catch them on an off day. It might be a little while before I return for another try, but if and when I do, I'll most likely end up trying a different sandwich and will also have to make a point to ask for extra crispy bacon.

And the food hall itself has endless options, so it's a great spot if you're with a group and everyone wants something different. I'd definitely return it's clearly a favorite for a reason.
