We had a great time here. We arrived for a late lunch early dinner. Parking was easy to find a place and we walked in. We were greeted at the front door and a table was all ready for us. The place was fairly empty when we arrived. Right after we sat down a large family reunion group was led in and was seated in the inclosed porch. Our server arrived and took our order. Bev was having the pasta primavera. I went with their famous personal pizza. We were waiting 45 minutes (quite awhile for our food.). I think I was finished with my second coffee. Finally my pizza arrived. Hot steaming and delicious. I waited for Bevs food to arrive. Letting my food cool down a bit. 15 minutes later still no dish. There was a mix up on our orders and the kitchen thought her food was out so they gave her dinner to someone else ordering the same thing. The manager came to our table talked with us and apologized for the mix up. We understand human error. He paid for our dinner and dessert. It was so kind of him to go above and beyond expectations. We really appreciated his kindness and professionalism. When Bevs food arrived it was absolutely delicious. The manager offered to make me a fresh pizza but it was still very warm. It did not need replacing. Bovines pizza is made in a brick oven . You can watch them make it. It is located by the entrance way. Our server kept an eye on us to see if we needed anything. We were all set. He was great refilling my coffee and Bevs tea. I would recommend this place in a heart beat. Everyone is so kind. The food delicious and a great view of the inlet. The food, service were exceptional. We originally were going to go to wicked Tuna but they were closed. We ended up at Bovines. I started with a chocolate martini and he got a cocktail also. We decided to share the coconut shrimp which was outstanding. It came with a orange sauce to dip it in. Next we both got the blackened beef tips. Very good. We both said we would get it again. It was a Thursday night. We had a 6:30 reservation. The place was not crowded. We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful view. Waitress came and took drinks orders. Upon returning, she immediately took dinner orders. It was a long time before the food arrived and it was cold, which is infuriating. Cold pizza doesn't cut it - especially when it is $16 ! One of our guests ordered a cheese burger that comes with lettuce, tomato and onion. The food was delivered by a bus boy, not the waitress, and Her burger arrived completely plain. It was a while before the waitress checked in with us and when we told her about the burger she left and returned with a plate containing a slice of cheese, a wilted piece of lettuce and a slice of tomato. We waited over a half hour for her to bring our check and then waited another 15 minutes for her to return with our credit card. She did bring one slice of peanut butter pie and 6 forks and told us it was on the house to share....I guess that was to compensate for the long wait. We will never be back to Bovines again. Another failure on the Marshwalk. Used to have amazing pizza with homemade delicious crust-now, just another tourist trap with over priced/mediocre food. The pizza recently has obviously been changed to a pre-made one that is nothing like the original. Won't be back. read more

First impressions- parking is always a challenge in those areas. Not too bad this evening...probably bc of the weather. Rolls to table before dinner. Waitress was pleasant and punctual. Beautiful view across the inlet if you are sat near the windows. Overall, we feel that Bovine's has declined in quality over the last few years. We used to perceive it as a "special" night out, but is has become more of an overpriced, mediocre restaurant for us. Nothing is awful, but it certainly doesn't live up to some of the prices in the menu. Service was average...food was average to above average...prices are higher than average...atmosphere is nothing special that makes it stand apart from anywhere else. Just not feeling like it is worth it anymore...so many other options in the area. read more

The food was excellent. I had a fish that was lightly blackened and grilled so delicious. The vegetables were perfect. The waitress was fantastic. All great except... The lighting was horrific!!!! Fluorescent lighting in a pretty restaurant. It's such a shame we weren't here for the sunset because it should've been spectacular. A very pretty view when that's over the restaurant turns into a bowling alley atmosphere. Why do restaurant owners not realize the fluorescent lighting not appealing? We came for the 6th Restaurant Week menu. The corn pudding with pork belly appetizer was amazing-light and fluffy like a soufflé. The steak entree was so tender. I could have eaten a bucket of the Gouda mashed potatoes with red wine demi glacé. The root vegetables were flavorful and well cooked. Stopped by Bovine's last night after seeing Nights of a Thousand Candles last night at Brookgreen Gardens. Ordered the Prime Rib while my husband was that hungry and decided on the wings. Oh my word that was the one of the best Prime Ribs I have ever had. Even my husband loved it and he usually isn't a prime rib fan. Service was great. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great. The menu had many different options from seafood to steak to pizza. I had the fish of the day: swordfish with sweet potato and creamed corn. Delicate seasoning and perfectly cooked. Birthday guy had steak creamed corn and baked potato. Cooked medium as he likes and he said it was good. Granddaughter had a cheeses pizza since no kid menu was offered. We went to Bovine's for Happy Hour. We sat at a nice high top table with a beautiful view of the marsh. Their HH menu is amazing! I decided on Grouper Bites picturing they would be like the fish version of chicken nuggets. I was so surprised at the very large pieces of golden brown, beautifully fried, pieces of grouper! They were hot and delicious! Not only was our food stellar but the service was too! I'm looking forward to going back to Bovine's very soon. read more

The shrimp and grits has changed substantially from years ago as the sauce is less of a red pepper sauce that was so good to more of a sausage tasting gravy. The grits were clumpy and not creamy. They need to actually cook them with cream and not water. The ribs were a huge portion plenty enough for several people. They were dry. We got there just after they opened and ordered grouper bites as an appetizer... Little did we know that it was basically a whole serving of grouper, it was cooked perfectly and tasted well but the wife and I could've just ordered the grouper appetizer and a side or 2 to make it a full meal, but we didn't know how much would be, so I ordered a 12 ounce ribeye, which was done perfectly, my wife had a crabcake sandwich which she said was very good also. Service and atmosphere was great. Something else we found out as we were eating is that there is a really super cool boardwalk there that travels along water inlet where boats can park and you can walk to about 16 different restaurants along the boardwalk right on the water, plus many different water tour adventures we're available right from that boardwalk, ie, parasailing, jet ski, scuba, fishing and such. We had 9 people in our party and got seated immediately, it wasn't the best spot in the place to see outside but still a great table with comfortable seats. The table got small biscuits after we ordered, and they were really good. I ordered ribeye, Mac and cheese, and asparagus. The asparagus had a super tasty sauce...I even asked for more. I found this place near the end of my vacation, but I'm so glad I did. The food and service were excellent. The view is amazing and will help create a memorable experience. My family and I tried a few items from the menu and hands down the coconut shrimp and shrimp and grits were my favorite. Although, my daughter had the BBQ baby back ribs and she could not stop talking about how tasty they were. After an awesome meal, take a walk along the pier and enjoy the live music.
