I had Boyars resurface our kitchen cabinets. At first the job was what we wanted. After a couple of years we had chipping and warping of the materials. I called Boyars and asked if they could come out and look at the work. They came out and took measurements to fix the problems. After several weeks of not coming out, saying that they needed more time. They finally said they would not cover their work. I asked why and they said they only guaranteed it for 5 years. I responded that was not what was told me at the time of purchase and what they currently offer. After promising many times to call me back, they never did. I would be very careful of doing business with them. They did not stand by there work and the quality did not stand the test of time. I really did not want to write this, but I needed to make sure others do not have the same experience we did. read more

We decided to update our 1970's kitchen and wanted to get 3 estimates. First company that came out didn't even open the cabinets or consider the option to reface. They took one look and said the only option was replace and gave some random cost estimate that was way out of budget. 2nd company to come out was Boyars. Stacey was awesome! She said yes we can reface and started discussing options and asking what we planned to do. She took some rough measurements and a few days later sent us an email with the estimate for both reface and replace. After working with Stacey, I canceled the 3rd company. She took the time to make recommendations, listened to our desires and helped direct us to exactly what we wanted. We chose to reface, they also installed some new pull out shelves, larger storage drawers and a trash pull out. Stacey was with us the whole time, went with us to pick out the granite for the counter and helped match back splash. She even came with to do the template layout. Everyone we worked with was top notch. They sent me a schedule so we knew when people were coming and what was to be done. Checked out a discounted mailer from Boyars to refinish our kitchen cabinets. My wife and I chose Boyars based on their yelp.com reviews. End result: Boyars did an excellent job. Our old, dark, worn out cabinets and drawers were replaced with fantastic new sliding drawers and easy-close doors. Hector and Hector do amazing work customizing the new cabinets. Where we had empty space up on our old cabinets, John the salesman suggested adding a new row of cabinets for storage space to the ceiling. Looks amazing now, and we have plenty of storage space for all our appliances in the cramped space of our kitchen. Fredo and his crew do excellent work on the counter tops too. Beautiful result. Boyars does great work at an affordable price. We priced Home Depot for the same work and they were TWICE the price ! Only one draw back: Boyars took over four weeks to complete the work, one reason was a cracked kitchen sink once we opened the box ! But Boyars works several jobs at once and their people bounce around. Maybe a firm completion date written into the contract would help ? Otherwise, my wife and I are 100% satisfied. It has been a sad experience and it is not over. At the signing of the contract we were told "the factory is behind" and it would be 6 - 8 weeks before the installation....displease, but OK. At nearly 8 weeks, we were again informed the "factory was behind" and it would be another 6 weeks. That is 14 weeks. It seems excessive, dysfunctional and just plain wrong. We have to stay with the contract as they are earning interest on our deposit. read more

Before I redid my kitchen, I talked with a LOT of contractors and I decided to go with Boyars. They did an outstanding job! We chose light cherry cabinets and drawers and when both my husband and I saw the job completed, we just looked at it and were blown away. Melissa was a pleasure to work with, she even put up with my retentiveness and never-ending requests. We have since moved from that house, and now need a kitchen and 3 bathrooms re-done. This is first time I am writing a review on YELP because I cannot say enough about the service and final product I received with Boyars in remodeling my kitchen. I wanted a new modern look but did not want to spend the cost of a new remodel of kitchen cabinets and counters and backsplash between counters and cabinets. It cost me a huge percentage less and the end results were so magnificent that I had three of my rental units done as well and referred two friends who were ecstatic after getting quotes from others. I would be remiss if I didn't add that I worked with Melissa Perez who is personable and knowledgeable being with Boyars umpteen years. We set out on a mission to reface our cabinets in a 17 year-old kitchen. Received three bids, and ended up choosing Boyar's. The complete experience, start to finish, couldn't have been better. Bill, our sales consultant, gave us clear options, and once we were ready to narrow down our selections and sign on the dotted line, we went into the showroom and viewed exactly what we were to have installed. Tony, our installer was terrific! He was very meticulous, and his attention to detail exceeded expectations. He installed molding where we did not have it previously, which really added a great finishing touch. The job wound up taking six days (full week, plus the following Monday). It has been a nightmare. I am so disappointed. The installation was lengthy; my wood floors trashed and immediately, the paint started chipping off the cabinet doors. I had the kitchen and two bathroom refaced and new marble counters. They did not follow my marble sample ,but I let that go. The marble was not polished correctly and the cutout for the cooktop crooked. This was fixed "kind of"...and I was promised to be reimbursed for the repolish and never received a check.. .. They started in October 2010 and in May 2011 I still did not have cabinet doors for my son's graduation party. They had picked up the drawers in February and had to be reminded to bring them back. I was promised soft close for all doors and some have it and some do not. The doors continue to chip and peel below and above the counters. The doors were never primed. I am writing this now because the drawers are now falling apart. The paint is chipping and peeling. The third drawer to fall apart was yesterday. The owner, Bernie came over to the house after many, many complaints over 1 year agoand said" it is not too bad " . Then they told me this was the last time they were going to repair. They implied that it was my fault. Now when I read the one star reviews that others have written, I see I am not alone. When I see their ads for " lifetime guarantee..." I want you to know what has happened and think twice. read more

OK. I am NOW engaged with Boyars Kitchen Cabinets for about a $15,000 kitchen partial remodel. SO FAR, I AM NOT OVERLY IMPRESSED, BUT THEY MAY DO A GOOD JOB, AFTER ALL. I will give the owner of Boyers a link to this review so that he can monitor my updates. Hopefully things will get better with the job, immediately! Boyars required, up front, (I have to look at receipts for exact numbers), about $7000. I was uncomfortable with this much up front money but did as the wife told. To be fair, Boyars does incur up front costs related to my job. Too bad my wife did not take the time to look at yelp.com. Other reviews of Boyars are not too flattering. I might have reconsidered Boyars as contractors had I read the yelp reviews myself. Here is the blow by blow ... Work day 1: Some guy(s) came out to remove the counter tops. My wife only was home. It took only a couple of hours and we have sat for about four days and no other work progress/activity, without the use of our kitchen. They left about a hundred nail heads (finishing nails) protruding up about 1 inch from the wood where the tile used to be (dangerous for injury). when they took out the sink, they asked my wife (I was not there, unfortunately) if they could take some of the plastic plumbing with it as "we would not need it." We'll see. I may have to hook up the sink myself and take trips to the hardware store to replace the perfectly good plastic piping. They left a mess of drywall, etc. to be cleaned up later under/inside the cabinets and did not sweep the driveway when they left. Not horrible but not really first class. Work day 2 (today): I took the day off as they said they would be here between 12 and 2. They showed up about 2:30 - not a big deal. I saw the worker (nice guy, Hector, different from day 1) started to hammer the nails sideways down onto the wood as the first guys did not remove them ( I would have removed if I did the job myself). I would think (I could be wrong) that a nice flat surface (with no nails) would be best to lay the plywood and then our very high end granite slab on top of, not a surface with a hundred bent-over nails. Maybe there is more to the story, here. After setting up, the guy asked if he could leave his tools out on the lawn over the next couple of days. I said "that's OK, but we'd like to have the sprinklers go on soon." He said, "That's OK. It's OK if my electric saw (and stuff) get water on them. I'll put a tarp over them." I guess he can do what he wants with his tools, but I want him to finish my kitchen with a little more care than this. Just a little uncomfortable. Hector DID catch a few important issues that were left over from other people (bad measurements, stove hood requirements, etc.). So generally he's pretty good. However. Boyars BARELY started and wanted to up the total payments to about $10,000 before hardly anything is done. Not too comfortable with that, again. That's where we are at right now. I would warn anyone from doing business with these folks. I had them reface my cabinets about two years ago. I purchased very expensive paint grade maple doors. They were damaged a tenant. I have called multiple times, trying to find out how to get replacement doors or to have them refinished. "Gladys" keeps promising to call me back with the information but does not. I have called and asked at least five times. I also cannot get any information from them on touch up paint. They keep insisting that I must pay a $75 fee to have someone come out. All I want is to know the price for a new door and information on the paint color. They refuse to give it to me. I would never do business with them again. read more

We worked with Angel (office) and John (sales) and they were able to deliver a beautiful kitchen to us in a very short time frame. I had a lot of questions and wanted them to find creative low cost solutions to address certain renovation issues in our kitchen because we not only wanted our kitchen renovated but we also had a side kitchen area that we wanted to match. They came through with flying colors. Our cabinets and Silestone countertops are beautiful. The installers of our countertop (David D. and his co-worker) had some tricky maneuvering to do in order to make everything fit -- they had a lot of space to work with and not a lot of material but they made it work. They took a lot of precautions to make sure that dust and dirt did not spread and cleaned up every day so that we barely knew they had been there other than the beautiful work they had completed each day. I would not hesitate to recommend them. They were always professional, courteous, and responsive to my inquiries and requests. read more

I recently had my kitchen remodeled by Boyars. From the minute Julie, their estimator/designer entered my house I knew I was dealing with a real professional business. Julie had great suggestions on maximizing my budget allowance and still getting the look I wanted. Boyars estimate, while not the cheapest, was a very reasonable and competitive bid. Like any job there were a few bumps along the way but in the end Boyars made everything right and made sure every step of the way that I was satisfied. Tony, one of their ceffacingefacing experts, did an excellent job and was a pleasure to work with. All of their installers showed up on time as promised which is something rare these days I find. The folks in the office make you feel like a very valued customer every time you call and phone calls are returned promptly. I just had my cabinets done by Boyars and I was nervous after reading the reviews on this post. I have to say I am so satisfied with my cabinets. They are beautiful. The person who did the installation took so much time and effort to do a great job, and he did an excellent job. He cleaned up at the end of each day, leaving my kitchen ready to use after coming home from work. Everyone in the company was so helpful, from the sales rep who came out to my house, the employees at the warehouse and the installer. The price was reasonable as well. Boyars just finished a cabinet refacing and actually did complete all the work in 5 working days. We did kitchen, linen, and bathroom cabinets. We emptied the cabinets one weekend and re-stocked them the next weekend.Hector and Humberto were excellent craftsmen, and paid great attention to detail. At the end of each day, they cleaned up and all materials were in the garage, so we could use the kitchen each night. [They are also dog-people, so did their best to calm our canine group who were unsettled by the project.] The cabinets are beautiful, and we'll definitely ask for this same team if we take on another project. read more

I am happy with boyars service. However, I only give 3 stars because I was not happy with the cabinet material I have. I have installed new cabinets 2 years ago and they are very pretty and looks very durable. After, one year of use they start peeling of I was very unhappy to know they are actually really cheaply manufactured. I called Boyars right away and they are very helpful and courteous. They change all the cabinets that are peeled off promptly. Over all costumer service are above satisfaction except the materials they use. I also would like to add that the carpenters that work with my cabinets are very fast and did a great job. The sales lady Alix is also great and very friendly and knowledgable. I am happy with the team but not so much with the material and I am stuck with it now :-( read more

We recently completed our kitchen remodel and I am 100% satisfied with the workmanship and finished product. Melissa was absolutely great at helping my wife and I design and evaluate the final refacing wood used in our kitchen. Hector and son arrived each day in a timely manner and were superb craftsmen at preparing the kitchen each day, applying the refacing and making every inch of the kitchen look fantastic. They are kind, extremely gifted in their workmanship and simply do a wonderful job at creating a brand new kitchen. We had several small glitches and Hector resolved each one to my highest standard. The tilers used for our backsplash were also great using extra paper to protect the finished refacing when they did the their work. The finished backsplash is beautiful. I mentioned to Melissa that there could be improvement in the front office when scheduling or other issues occur with the prompt and timely taking of phone calls when needs arrive. Although this was an issue at times, it was never a major problem and their office was short staffed for a time with one ill worker. Remodeling a kitchen and coordinating appliance removal and delivery can be stressful and everyone at Boyar's was great at helping us to stay on schedule. We have used Boyar's for two bathroom remodels in the past and have been again extremely satisfied with their professional attitude and work. My wife and I can unconditionally highly recommend this company, Melissa, and Hector and son as the best! read more

After reading all of your glowing reviews I'm wondering why I've had such problems. The story is way too long to tell. Suffice it to say it started in about August of 2014 with the signing of the contract and the job was not completed until about Thanksgiving, 2014. Now our job was tiny...small wet bar and powder room cabinet refacing. They advertised (and still are offering that extra perk) that they would give free soft close drawers (of which we only have one) with the order. To date we still do not have that soft close drawer. The office told me that I did not buy that extra (?) package, so I called the salesman. He said he would have to research the sale information. He has not called me back. I called him a second time, left a message and to date still have not heard back from him. So, did I just get unlucky or what? read more

I hope things have changed with this company. The owner is the most unprofessional person I have ever come across. I stopped by their office one day, and he was in his office yelling at someone. I felt very bad for that person and very uncomfortable with the whole situation; I ended up walking away. If that's the way he treats his employees, I can just imagine how he treats customers. A "1 star" rating is too generous for Boyars. I wish I had checked the other yelp.com reviews prior to engaging Boyars to build a custom vanity for a bathroom remodel as I experienced some very similar challenges as others on this site. The sales person was not well versed in the actual product, disconnected from the production department and rude. Once issues were raised, the salesperson offered to invoice us more to ensure our satisfaction (funny, but I thought that was what the original invoice was for). The product was also delivered late. At the end of a miserable experience, I made the tough decision to walk away entirely from Boyars and paid another carpenter to fix their mistakes and complete the job per the original work order. The individual listed below as the company's representative was included on email exchanges with the sales person about my dissatisfaction with the job and was not heard from once (in other words, believe what you want about claims of great customer service). As a last word of caution, should you not believe these reviews I would encourage you to also check the Better Business Bureau web site. I wish I had known how many claims has been filed against the company before contracting them. read more

Boyars do not stand behind their work. They refaced my kitchen cabinets and during the first year they started peeling. The color was custom and we paid a lot of money for them. They repaired some of them. A few years later they began peeling again. The custom color was actually peeling off the refaced doors. This time they said they would not stand behind the work that 5 years was long enough. Our total job including other cabinet refacing by Boyars totaled more than $50,000. Be aware. We finally replaced all of the kitchen cabinets with another manufacturer. read more
