White pizza (10 inch) with spinach and mushrooms
    Chuck H.

Growing up in New York City, living in Chicago and Urbana-Champaign for 17 years, I am a bit of a pizza snob. This is good. I had the 10 inch white pizza, which comes with spinach, and I added sautéed mushrooms. This was great. Not overly seasoned, but the quality and freshness of ingredients shown through. Crust (standard hand thrown) was nicely cooked, and both the crust and the cheese had the type of browning that one sees in a nice NY pizza. Downside is not many seats (probably only about 20-25 in the entire shop). A nice find in downtown DC

Stopped in for dinner and it was busy- they let us know it'd be 20 minutes for pizza, which we appreciated. We got a pizza and sandwich, both of which were good. For the style restaurant it is (order at counter and wait for food at table), the bill was a bit steep.

The food is always cooked to perfection and consistently delicious. I usually order the Girls Soccer Pizza (their version of a meat lovers pizza), and it never disappoints. It is a little pricey, but that's pretty much expected in DC. I typically stop by during the middle of the day on weekdays since I work nearby. The service has always been friendly, fast, and efficient. Overall, it's one of the best pizza spots in the city. One thing to note: they do not sell jumbo slices.

Visiting from California, and as a true pizza lover, I had to give Bozzelli a try and I'm so glad I did! I ordered the vegan pizza, and wow, it completely exceeded my expectations. So rich in flavor, perfectly crusty, and incredibly satisfying. The service was just as impressive. All the Latina ladies working there were so sweet, warm, and welcoming. It's always a treat to feel that kind of genuine hospitality definitely gave the place a great vibe. The ambiance is cute and cozy, right in the heart of downtown with lots of nearby stores and restaurants. A perfect stop if you're exploring the area. Highly recommend!

    - 1 star because it's too damn expensive +4 stars because it's phenomenal Stopped by on a Thursday evening at 5:45ish. Used the kiosk (a bit cumbersome) to order an Italian (extra Italian) with the fries + drink combo. $24.50 pre tip is highway robbery for a sandwich and fries... That being said, the sandwich? Delicious, tons of thinly sliced meat (but not too much!) and fresh ingredients. The bread was soft and slightly toasted and my mouth is watering thinking about it. Oh and the fries(!!!!) were crispy on the outside and soft and moist inside. They're wedge cut and while they could've used a lil more salt and a few extra packages of ketchup, they were piping hot and fresh. This location is fairly small inside. It's perhaps best to order ahead if you're in a rush. All in all, highly recommended and will be back!

The staff here is really nice and what I like about Bozzelli's is how quickly the pizzas are made fresh and the variety of sizes, from individual 5-inch pizzas to full 14-inch ones. I just got the Fugetaboutit, which is a meat lovers pie but there are plenty of options to cater to different dietary needs.

I came here because I heard they had a gluten-free crust. The place was clean and simple. I think they do way more pickups than in-store eating. The service was fine - order at the register or through a kiosk. I ordered a margarita pizza, which cost $24 (way too high). The crust was rice and/or potato starch-based - it was okay but nothing special (I prefer corn or cauliflower). The sauce, cheese, and cherry tomatoes were good. So, I am giving it a high rating mostly for trying and having gluten-free options, but the price is not worth it. I hope non-gluten-free options are better and cheaper.

Needed a quick lunch, so stopped by this fast-casual style spot to grab and sandwich to-go. Did not get a chance to try the pizzas, but have heard good things so will have to return to give those a sampling. My meatball sub was done just right with plenty of gooey mozzarella cheese and a zesty marinara sauce. Anxious to see what their other food tastes like, but will have to be on another trip into DC.

    5" Island Time Pizza
    Rickard S.

During a visit to Washington, DC I was looking for a place where I could get a quick lunch. Bozzelli's was a short walk from where I was rehearsing and performing. Excellent choice of pizza in various sizes. I ordered a 5" Island Time made with bacon, pineapple and chili garlic sauce. It was my choice because I enjoy pineapple on pizza. Instead of using the ordering kiosk I ordered at the counter. The young man was helpful and delivered the order to my table. The small pizza was hot, delicious, and perfect for one for a quick lunch. I also bought a can of soda for something to drink. Even though it was about 1:15-1:30pm the place was quiet. There was outside seating available too and a selection of various table sizes. I would definitely recommend.

Italian Mama with jalapeño. Every time I am in the east coast I make sure to visit. Must have plus the customer service is amazing.

Got an order for pick up, and it was ready right on time. I got the individual size Island time pizza, and it's the perfect portion. I also got an order of garlic knots and an order of the fries. The ranch is definitely not my cup of tea, but it served its purpose. The fries were pretty good, super crispy, and the garlic knots had a very great garlic flavor. Would definitely order again. Inside of the restaurant was fine, but I ordered for pick up so I didn't stay. Staff was very friendly when I got to the counter, and my order came out quickly.

This restaurant…read morewas recommended to me by a colleague so I decided to make the walk from where I am currently staying. Let me start by saying that the atmosphere in this restaurant is one that is so welcoming the minute you arrive. I approached the hostess stand to inquire if there was bar seating available to which the polite hostesses provided a gentle hand gesture and oral direction to the bar. While walking to the bar area, I encountered what I presume to have been a server who was likely standing watch from a distance over his service area, who apologized as our paths met. (There was no reason to apologize, very polite nonetheless) I found a seat at the bar and was greeted by Paul. Paul was an exceptionally pleasant and answered all my immediate questions while preparing my initial cocktail during happy hour. We discussed the menu and he provided great insight which helped finalize my decision for the evening . In the meantime, bar manager Laura stopped by to ensure that I was taken care of to which I informed her that Paul and I spoke and he is making a beverage for me. For the food...the Caesar Salad is #1. I am a food snob and this salad HITS!! While enjoying my salad I inquired about their cast bourbon selection. The staff was very knowledgeable and provided a price list to coincide with their higher end selections. My 40 layer lasagna arrived some time in the midst of the conversation where Paul extended a courtesy sampling of a wine that he recommended that pairs nicely with my meal. It was perfect. I closed out my meal with an espresso type martini, at which time Paul and Laura further extended and offered me a sampling of one of the bourbons I was looking at. I cannot say enough about this establishment. I can't wait to go back and have already recommended via phone conversations to three people and I just left. The evening and encounter was more than just pleasantries with a customer, rather I felt as if I was the only one. If the owner or manager is reading this, Paul and Laura are 10+ and I will be back. Thank you so much for the best meal I have had in DC over the last 2 weeks. Can't wait to do it again!!!

The place is very moodily charming because you're on a basement level with no natural light, so everything is dark and the vibe is Italian grandma kitsch. The whole thing manages to work. They were busy, and our waitress, who was highly professional (honestly she seemed like she could be a government employee) was being pulled to some VIP table in their back room (which we were seated adjacent to), so she was not as available as we would have liked. We got a couple cocktails and started with the Caesar salad and the meatballs. For a place that boasts about its portion sizes, there were only two meatballs, and they were fine. The free bread wasn't impressive, especially considering the extraordinary bread situation that we had at The Dip the previous evening. The salad was undersalted and kinda bland. So, overall, not the most promising beginning. We all shared the one main dish of Linguini Cardinale after our waitress sold us on it. It's sort of like a vodka sauce that mated with lobster, and it was delicious, but it was quite rich and heavy. We did like it though. Dessert was where we went all out with the strawberry cheesecake, the pistachio strawberry mousse cake, and the dark chocolate mousse cake. The one that had pistachio was terrible--everything tasted artificial and the texture wasn't right. The chocolate one was OK. Luckily the cheesecake was where it was at. It's not Junior's-level or anything, but compared to the other two, it stood out. We're glad we came here to have tried it once and we had a good time as a family, so it'll be a fond memory. We don't feel a pressing need to return, but we would recommend it for folks to try once.

The Alfredo came out, but the dishes were missing the chicken. It took a few minutes to get our waitress's attention, and she let us know the chicken had been forgotten and put the order in. We decided to wait rather than eat the pasta without the chicken, figuring it would only take a couple of minutes. Instead, it took about 10-15 minutes for the chicken to arrive, and by then our Alfredo was ice cold. The waitress apologized and put in a new order of pasta, but that also took quite a while. When it finally arrived, it came without the chicken, while the original chicken that had arrived late was now cold as well. At that point we didn't even eat the meal. The waitress said the replacement pasta was "on the house," which was a strange thing to point out since it was replacing a meal that was prepared incorrectly. To make matters worse, when the bill arrived, we were still charged for the original Alfredo and the added chicken. Unfortunately, this experience left us frustrated, and we left without enjoying the meal we came for.

The standout in the Neri were the shellfish for me. Even though they were small bits, the pieces tasted fresh. In the Gnocchi, the saltiness of the prosciutto, though not overwhelming, paired well with the basil sauce. I finished a little more than half of each plate before boxing it up for a small lunch the next day. The service was great and the tall ceiling and windowed dining room provided a nice atmosphere. I was weary of the mushroom and the red wine sauce, but I was pleasantly impressed. The sauce complemented the dish, but did not overpower it by any means. If you dislike mushrooms, you're able to eat around the chopped mushrooms like my husband did. I also thought the ravioli was packed with deliciously seasoned lamb. For dessert, I had the tiramisu which was great as I expected! I did have a bite of the ricotta cheesecake. It wasn't memorable in my opinion. Overall, our party had a wonderful time in this quieter dining space. The service was excellent. I would definitely return!

We enjoyed dinner at Tortino with friends last night! Our server, Pedro, provided us with excellent…read moreservice and was very attentive. The ambiance was nice but it was very quiet at 7pm on a Thursday so we had to watch our volume. Dinner was delicious overall! We enjoyed the: Beef carpaccio: 4/5, good flavor and loved the dish as a whole. Could've used a little more sauce/dressing and micro greens, but I'd still recommend! Crab ravioli: 4/5, the sauce was delicious, though the raviolis were a little chewy 11th Street Spritz: 5/5, loved the addition of the gin to a classic aperol spritz. My friends loved their cocktails as well, including the Negroni. Italian ricotta cheesecake: 2/5, this was very dry/crumbly for a cheesecake, I'd try a different dessert next time
