Restaurant was nice but had no booths when I went and i like sitting at a booth so was a little dissapointed. The food was decent but, my chicken was alittle dry, and overcooked.. Rowley was in serious need of a good restaurant and this should do just fine. It's basically The Sylvan Street Grill, dressed up. It's a great spot to grab a drink and watch a sporting event but the food is pretty ordinary. I've been at least 3 times and it wasn't anything amazing. The burger is fine, nachos are just like Sylvan's (good) and the salad was fresh but dressing didn't knock my socks off. I do love the bar setup, though. I'd imagine it's super cozy in the winter time and they were very wise to increase the bar size because I always felt like the old bar area was too small. Overall, a solid three stars. read more

I normally love the Bradford Tavern- we got at least 3 times a month as a family. However, I went on a Friday for lunch with my kids and met a friend, and the hostess made me feel extremely unwelcome. I was seriously disappointed. She kept hovering next to our table the entire meal and at one point I noticed her exchange a glance with our waitress after looking at the moderate mess my children left under the table. As I was leaving I apologized for the mess and she merely gave me a half smile. I have never felt so unwelcome at a family restaurant! A regular stop for us and the staff is great. One thing I'd say is that if don't care for Country Music then the music will be a turn off. You'll feel like your at the Texas Roadhouse. This was exactly the type of spot I was looking for up in this area. I've only been once, and it was at the bar. However, the service was great. The menu was even better. Buffalo chicken egg rolls were amazing and the BBQ Smokehouse Burger was cooked to order perfectly. The drinks (I had vodka tonics) weren't too stiff and weren't watered down, either. I wish I could remember the waitress' name, she was awesome. We went for a girls dinner on a Wednesday. Our waitress was prompt with drinks, I was super indecisive about what I wanted for dinner and she had some great suggestions; I ended up with the Asian chicken salad and it was delicious. Our server, Kara, did a great job dealing with a difficult large group who drank too much and were making it difficult for those of us near them to hear each other and enjoy ourselves. I would actually rate Bradford Tavern a 4.5 but that isn't an option. The entire staff that we dealt with was friendly and engaged my kids. We took a little bit to order but we never felt rushed or an inconvenience. We asked for recommendations and they hit it out of the park. Best pork chop I have ever had and the kids loved their meals. The prices were very reasonable and the atmosphere was great. Everything went so well we decided to book a function there for May 12, 2018. I will post about the function hall after that, but honestly I know it will be fantastic. My husband and I stopped by the Bradford Tavern yesterday for the first time. The place is great! It was busy but not crazy busy. We sat at the bar and never before have we ever had a bartender introduce him/herself or ask us our names. Mary Ellen was amazing. We than meet Jameson who gave us the low down on the Bradford and since we are big fans of Sylvan Street and were told that the same people are involved we were a bit more at ease with how our experience here was going to be. My husband had the baked haddock while I had the salad with pan seared salmon - they were both amazing. We actually stayed for another drink because we were enjoying our conversation with Mary Ellen. BT is best for midweek dinner at the bar. Food is not for everybody's taste. Overall, the food is pretty good, but for my dinner group, not everybody cares for it. So, Grandma and I go alone and sit at the bar and have bar food: burgers and sandwiches and a drink. They mix a very good drink and have good selection of beers on tap. I recommend the lobster and avacado club sandwich. The turkey tips are also very good. read more

We're locals and stop in at Bradford regularly. Food. The food is good, with both the buffalo and the lobster mac and cheese being favorites of my wife and kids. Burgers and such are typical over-sized tavern fare and the pulled pork sandwich is another favorite. The prime rib when available is surprisingly good. It's a place where you can also make a meal out of just appetizers if you are so inclined. Try the Philly Cheesesteak Eggrolls. Service. The service is good but this is definitely relaxed dining and not a place to be when you are in a hurry. That being said, the one time that we were in a hurry the staff accommodated us without issue. Call ahead to check for wait times on the weekends. As others have pointed out this is owned by the same people that own Sylvan St. Grill. However we find this a nicer and more relaxed/intimate family atmosphere. Definitely recommended. read more

We ate here tonight - baked haddock, lobster club, and lobster mac and cheese. The haddock plate came with garlic mashed potatoes and "steamed" vegetables. The haddock was good - flakey. The potatoes were heavy, garlicky and microwaved. The "steamed" vegetables came out very steamy as it seemed as if they were heavily microwaved and once cooked down, barely cooked. The lobster club - so anticipated; was mushy. The lobster mac and cheese, another dish much anticipated, was very poor. Fair amount of lobster but unlike most other restaurants that at serve lobster mac and cheese, the serving at best, was made with liquid velveeta. It was terrible. If BT was not so geographically conveniently, we wouldn't come here again. Especially for these lobster dishes. read more

Used to be our favorite place. And hard to get a seat but no problem today. And understand why. Spinach and artichoke dip fantastic but bartenders avoid making any eye contact and shows in the mediocre service. Tollhouse pie is husbands favorite dessert but barely touched it as pie was cold. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is that fact that I cannot get past the idea that this is owned by the same guys that own the uber-cheezy Sylvan Street Grill. That place reminds me of Coors Light drinking, mozzarella stick-eating neanderthals yelling at a TV with Patriots jerseys on, standing on office style wall-to-wall high-traffic utility dark-gray carpeting. YECCCH. Okay, now with that out of my system... Bradford Tavern is a huge step up. Certainly looks more upscale looking from the outside, but when you walk in you see this is a pretty casual spot. Very clean and well done. Food is inexpensive and very good. Beer selection however, not that great. One obscure offering from Mayflower is nice, but the rest of the taps are the regular staples... The obligatory offerings from Sam Adams of course, Harpoon "IPA", (I put quotes around it because Harpoon IPA is not a true IPA,) Ipswich Ale, Sierra Nevada, etc. They would benefit from a nice craft brewery IPA. Dogfish Head 60min would be a nice addition. Service was stellar. Jenn our waitress was far and away the best server we have had in years. She was upbeat, happy and made several suggestions as to what to get. She was exceptional. Nowhere does anyone ask if they can clear your plate before the other person is done, they normally just take it. That is not proper restaurant server etiquette. You should ALWAYS ask if it is okay to take the plate when you are done if the other person is still eating, and she did just that. Nicely done, Jenn! read more

I had high expectations for Bradford Tavern and came away very disappointed (and still hungry). My friend and I drive by all the time and are always amazed at how packed the parking lot is. We finally decided to give it a try on Friday afternoon. I love the ambiance. The roaring fire is so nice when it's cold outside. It's a beautiful restaurant. Unfortunately, that's the only good thing about it. Our waitress was beyond inattentive. I don't know if she was having a bad day or was just not interested in doing her job but it really took away from the experience. She didn't tell my friend that beers come in more than one size, she didn't know what they had on tap and she only pointed to the menu when we asked. Then, even though I had the menu in front of me and ordered my bunless burger from the special menu that came with a soup and a dessert, she didn't ask what I wanted for a soup or salad; in fact, she didn't ask how I wanted the burger but that seems to be a policy in some places so I didn't think anything of it at the time. We had to track her down when we realized she wasn't going to ask about the soup. I got a bowl of clam chowder and the presentation was cool- a sloped bowl. The chowder was awful. Way too salty and it just didn't taste fresh. We were given some bread and an oil, and that was pretty good. I ordered the bunless burger and it was disgusting. The burger was charred with a minimal amount of cheese and peppers, onions, and mushrooms just piled on top of it. I took one bite and knew this was not the dish for me. My friend ordered haddock with a cheese sauce and I ended up switching with him. His was not much better. The rice was gross. It didn't taste newly made. The veggies were steaming hot as if they had just been nuked in a microwave (and not freshly made either). I took one bite of the fish and blanched. The cheese sauce was beyond gross. My friend ate my bunless burger and said it was the worst one he's ever had. The waitress never came to check on us. When she finally did return, we had to remind her that mine came with dessert as she just wanted to give us the bill and wasn't even asking about dessert. The chocolate cake was horrible. It tasted dry, stale and partially frozen in parts. It had chocolate sauce slathered all over it (maybe to mask the fact that it was definitely several days old and straight from the freezer). Yuck. My friend ate most of it. The waitress again never asked how we liked everything, even when she saw we had almost a full portion of fish left. She did pack it up for us, but still didn't ask how the meal was. I don't know- if I saw that someone hadn't eaten something I think I would at least inquire as to what was wrong with the dish. We contemplated complaining but then figured we would just never return and recommend not going if people asked us what we thought of the place as it felt like we weren't going to get anywhere with the waitress. Its the 99 of Rowley. They get a rush crowd during dinner hours and the place is a ghost town at 9pm. They do a karaoke night on Thursday that draws in the women but right after it ends so does the business. I keep going there as Rowley is teaming with so many places to hang out (NOT).. I have sent some friends who never went and all 5 didn't like it.. They ate in the dinning room section and didn't enjoy it. I do the bar side always. The GF and I met there tonight for dinner...nice place and the bar was hopping. I wasn't able to get a seat at the bar & grabbed a table in the dining room. After 10 minutes, I still had yet to see my server. Plenty of wait staff were moving through the dining area, which was ~ half full. The GF showed up and we abandoned the dining room and found two seats at the bar. Got a few drinks and ordered dinner. About 45 minutes later the food finally arrived. My GF had the fish chowder (thick, pasty, and bland) and a pear salad that was ok. I ordered a reuben and fries with 'special seasoning'. The sandwich was soggy and tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave. There was absolutely no seasoning on the fires, which were luke warm. The bartender never once asked how the food was, I think he knew it was bad and avoided us. The other bartender acted busy, and chi-chatted with one of the customers for about 15 minutes, but I never saw her re-fill any of the bar patrons drinks. read more

First time diner and will be back. Visiting on the north shore and accidentally happened on this Tavern. Patriots game was on so we opted to eat at the bustling big square bar. Great mix of ages and server Matt was very good. Terrific options of appetizers, salads, bar bites, sandwiches and full dinners. Soft bread and cheese layered dipping oil was yummy; kept us satisfied while waiting for dinner. Wedge salad was crisp and appropriately loaded with real blue cheese, bacon bits and tiny tomato pieces. Chose chicken pot pie special and was not disappointed. The mashed potatoes were authentic and awesome; food arrived hot. My husband chose the chicken piccata and his portion was large enough to bring half home. Substitution request for the sides was easy and cheerfully offered. Nice quieter dining room is an alternative for anyone choosing a less lively eating environment too. Highly recommend. read more

I have been a fan of the Bradford Tavern since it opened and have a loyalty card. Our family goes often and the food is always great and the service as well. I received a birthday email entitling me to a free Birthday dinner. When I went to the Tavern we first asked the waitress if we could use it and she read it and said certainly. When the bill arrived and we gave her the certificate she came back and said she was sorry but it is not valid on premier meals served from 4 - 5:30. It is a great deal-an appetizer, meal and dessert for 12.99. We didn't object as our waitress was very sweet and apologetic. It's probably my fault for not being more assertive and asking for a manager. The Birthday Certificate said nothing about the time or type of meal ordered. Will probably go back but they should print restrictions on the Birthday e-mail offer! read more

This was one of mine and my families favorite restaurants. I made a reservation the day before Mother's Day and the girl on the phone took all my information and said they were taking down timeframes and at the end of the night the managers would call and confirm the set time. I never got the call. I called the next morning and all the manger had to say was " sorry don't have you down". I looked at my call log and I called the day before at 250pm, and because they had an over sight on their end my day was ruined- good luck to getting in ANYWHERE on Mother's Day. This place is a family staple for us. The last time I went me, my sister and our men walked to the bar to eat on a Friday eve. Sure as hell, there sits my parents. We joined the rentals and squeezed all 6 of us into a high top and the waitress was right over to grab us beers. The menu is extensive pub food. I like the chicken salad sandwich and fried zucchini. Dad always gets the grilled trio and it is filling to the max. I have never had a bad meal or server here. Not once. It is reasonably priced and great for a large group. Had a late lunch today at the Bradford Tavern. I have a severe food allergy and am so limited where I can eat out. I could not have found a better place to eat. From the moment we were greeted inside the door to the time we left, they took care of my friends and me, even having the chef come out to discuss my allergy and determine what I could and could not eat right up to the seasoning used on the fries (which were perfectly crispy!). After roaming around the antique shops and flea markets nearby, we decided to stop in for a quick lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We've driven by several times in the past, and knowing there's "slim pickens" in the area... unless you're up to waiting in line at the Clam Box... it seemed the perfect time to give it a try. Nice variety on the menu, nothing overly priced. Entrees were less than $20... most sandwiches were 9.99 and less (served with some of the best fries I've ever had). I ordered the Reuben and my companion had the Cuban panini. While my sandwich wasn't piled high like you would get at a NY deli, it was decently filled and the dressing was outstanding. The Cuban panini wasn't smashed/grilled, as Cubans normally are, but I was told it was very good. Good thing we enjoyed the sandwiches, as we both brought the other half home with us!
